My husband enjoyed the golf courses. The practice facilities were very good. The pools were clean and refreshing. There needs to be more dining options since it is so far away from everything. The prices for things were a little high. For example, the green fee of 58 euros was fair, but the 50 euros for the golf cart was excessive. Also the price of the dinner buffet at 72 euros a piece was too much for the food that was served.

* Spacious rooms with balcony (or see below for not so good...)
* Nice grounds around

Bad:
*Layout design flaws meaning you keep on walking around the(two) beds to get from the bathroom to the wardrobe and the door.
* In spite of massive rooms, no sofa, just a few small chairs.
* Massive looking bed which is effectively two separate mattresses.
* Electrical plug availability challenging.
* Dark and cold rooms due to the sun sheletring design(it was decent sunny May weather outside)
* Far from anything and on the rubbish pebbled road, so driving to and from is a bit frustrating.

Easy and fast checking in, staff friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, well equipped and very comfortable. It overlooked the pool and golf course beyond. You can park next to each room almost motel style so easy to carry cases. The night we stayed there was live music from a local guitarist and singer at the bar area, very enjoyable. Kettle in the room, but only tea bags no coffee, good size tv and the most comfortable bed. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. We did not eat at the restaurant in the evening but it and the menu looked good. It is a guilt area but only a few minutes drive into Portimão. Will stay again for longer

Good check in. Nice size room. Rather noisy overnight as the main door faces the road. Although the place is off the beaten track the road use was very loud.

At booking we were offered a free bottle of wine with our stay. The hotel had no knowledge of this and the manager was called! I had to send her a copy of my booking. This was embarrassing and also meant our meal was on hold why this was sorted out.

All the staff were friendly and helpful and could not fault.

The \"quiet\" Algarve

We have stayed here a number of times, and this has become one of our favorite properties in the Algarve.

Inside a huge property (3 kms of road separate you from the main entry to the hotel reception) but still a few kms from the beaches and all the buzz.

The rooms are very spacious and with an incredible view to the golf course.

Great food, brilliant staff, this is much more that what we expected from a 4* property.

A gem in the Algarve

This is a hidden gem in Algarve.
Only a few kms from the busy center of Portimão, you can relax with a beatiful view of the golf course.
From the main entrance of the estate to the hotel reception we have 3 kms of road - taking us furthuer way from the main roids and its noise.
The rooms are nice and very spacious. The staff is atentive and kind, providing a 5* service in a property that is rated 4*.
Around the golf course there are a few lakes habited by dozens of storks that take their position on top of the roadside lamps by dawn - a show worth watching!
We have been here twice this year and will surely return.

Liked the peaceful location and the willingness of the vast majority of staff to make our stay enjoyable, especially Pepe in the Restaurant. Didn't like the fact that our room was nearly 2 hours late being ready when we arrived. After much prevarication the receptionist eventually told us it was caused by the late check-out of previous occupants but this should not have impacted on us. The receptionist also blamed Expedia for giving us the wrong check-in time and there was initially no apology. The situation wasn't helped by seeing everyone else being allocated their room immediately. Not a great start but things did improve and we had a good time.

The rooms are excellent and can't be faulted. Big and comfortable bed. Air conditioning is great and not too loud. A fridge for drinks. The shower is superb. The pool area can get a bit crowded but it was high season August. I've played golf here previously and never seen anyone at the pool so out of season it would be like a private pool.
Very good breakfast. Lots of choice and good quality.
A car is essential as it's very remote but only 20 mins or so from the best place in the Algarve in Carvoeiro

This hotel is really nice and on a nice green land. The hotel is cleaned regularly. Breakfast is nice and service with wine. Room was really big and spacious with a big balcony.

For such a big hotel, its a shame they don't have a gym.
Also, if you are terrified of big ants, this is not the hotel or you. Due to where it is based, ants have very easy access to the rooms because the doors have a big enough gap at the bottom. Found a crawling big ant in my bed which freaked me out but the hotel provides you with bug spray and we also put towels to block the gaps under the door.

Despite being a few miles out of Portimao, it's peaceful and just right for those who do not want to be in the thick of it on the beach etc. A car is essential with plenty of places to visit nearby- the former Algarve capital, Silves, Monchique and the highest point, Foía, all the beaches close to Portimao and even Sagres.
Excellent breakfasts are served together with snacks in the day, if you are actually hungry after the huge breakfast and a lovely buffet with plenty of choice in the evening. Staff were very helpful with perfect English if you didn't speak Portuguese. The pool was lovely too and of course, a great place to play golf!
However, my one bone of contention was the fact that the staff cleaning rooms were a little too enthusiastic and therefore didn't adhere to their environment policy. It's a shame non golfers aren't allowed to walk around the property because it would've have been a good walk.
All in all a lovely place to stay.

Peaceful and relaxing

We wanted a peaceful relaxing getaway and that’s exactly what we got. The staff as I’d read in other reviews were excellent. Although the hotel is only a few miles from Portimao it felt like we were in the middle of no where which for us was a good thing. We have a car so we drove to a few beaches about 30 mins away. We stayed at the end of May and would definitely go there again at that time of year.

Although the location is a bit remote the hotel itself is very good for a base to tour around the area. I would strongly recommend having a car as its certainly cheaper than using taxi's. The hotel itself is very good with large rooms and excellent bathrooms. We had a superior room with huge balcony overlooking the pool, it was very comfortable and suited our needs with parking right outside our door. Although we didn't play golf the courses looked in very good condition and there were also low key activities to take part in if you wished. Breakfast was very nice with an excellent selection of well presented food.

Positives: Beautiful scenic location, calm and private. A well cared golf course. Great terrace and reception bar, music with a human touch and excellent, friendly service.
Personal dislikes: smell of the room freshner, mosquitos at night, and droning noise of the fuse box in the quiet of the night. P.S. It helps to have own transport as it is quite a way from places. I'd go back anytime!

This was our first visit to Portugal and I was looking for a quiet setting for a three night stay with my 19 year old daughter. This is exactly what we found. So tranquil. I was told by a staff member that this was not always the case however and that high season for them is September to November when they are very busy with golfers. We don't play golf, but we relaxed by the pool that was very close to our apartment, for most of the day. The apartment itself was decorated very well and tastefully, more luxurious than your average holiday resort. The shower was powerful and there were plenty of towels and complementary toiletries. Air-con easy to adjust. Bed amazingly comfortable. Pillows not to my liking but were high quality.
The bedrooms and pool are a short walking distance from the main areas like the Club House and the restaurant but an impractical walking distance if you were carrying drinks or food so ultimately, you couldn't really have a drink by the pool. Although we did stay around the pool for several hours a day, it was evident that the pool was used by most for only half an hour to an hour and not for a full day event! But others were there for golfing in the main, and not for relaxing it seemed. Food was buffet style or you could order from a 'snack style' menu in the Club House. Food was very reasonably priced and there was plenty to chose from.
The guests seemed to be from all over the EU; there was not one dominating language - a real sense of Europe.

Nice hotel with great rooms

Room was very, very spacious with an outside balcony giving view on the golf course. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices. There were organized activities by the hotel staff to entertain the guests. On Tuesday night, there was even musical animation on the terrasse outside for the guests. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.
If you are not there for golfing though, you do need a car (or taxi) to get to the city (Portimao).

The staff at this hotel were exceptional. The area was obviously going to be a large resort but building appears to have stopped many years ago. Don't be put off on the approach road where you will pass empty and part built apartments. We really enjoyed our stay here but we did have a car which gave us the ability to get out and about. Silves is really worth a visit especially the restaurant in the castle, Cafe des Englais (I think). The room was fine and the breakfast was superb. We ate in the hotel on a couple of nights which was also very good. It's a buffet style and the selection and quality was very good. There were a couple of negatives. The local guests and some foreign guests were very keen in reserving sunbeds despite being asked by the hotel not to do this. It meant that we got dragged into it as well and it made us feel quite guilty. However, there are 98 rooms and between the 2 pools only approx 50 sunbeds so during busy spells it is difficult to find a vacant spot. The other negative was stray dogs hanging around the restaurant areas. Some staff would chase them off but others were happy to let them roam around. It didn't bother me but my wife was a bit stressed by them at times. On the whole, we really enjoyed our stay and would definately go back. There were some great deals on the golf as well. I could have played 18 holes with hire clubs and a buggy for 65 euros which seemed pretty good to me.

We absolutely loved the hotel and facilities, deluxe rooms are huge and really comfortable.
They just need to have a gym and more shade because it tends to be quite hot in summer.

Check-in staff willing but not particularly well informed when questioned. Rooms were of excellent quality and fashionable but not very practical in some aspects. Food very good, both in the clubhouse and in the restaurant and reasonable value - drinks were fairly priced. Both Golf courses were very well maintained and presented a fair challenge to the average golfer. We will be booking again.

Family short stay - with main purpose golf!

Family holiday (couple with a 2 year old daughter). Hotel was perfect for us as we wanted to spend some time golfing; he could do that whilst I spent time at the pool with our daughter.
Location is in the middle of nowhere, which is what we were expecting. Suited us as we expected this, had a hire car and were staying for a couple of nights only, with the main purpose of playing golf. We wouldn't necessarily want to stay for longer.
Food was good, rooms were comfortable (especially the bed) and very spacious (we were in a duplex). However we did have a couple of problems - with the shower overflowing and the on demand films not working, which were not resolved whilst we were there.
Golf was good BUT be warned - Monday was club day and it was slow (5 hours for 18 holes). Gave up and walked off after 9. Went out early Tues & Wed and was much better speed of play.

Two good courses on site, Morgado and Alamos. Location is inland about 25 minutes by car to the coast, so a car is necessary for touring and finding restaurants. Great rates for golf if you're staying there, including their sister course Salgados, which is on the water.

The Hotel reception shared with the Golf Reception,not very five star.

The Golf restaurant posed as the hotel restaurant and the menu was very limited,apparently it was a concessionaire facility.

The staff at the hotel reception,golf receptiona nbd restaurant were all very polite and helpful.

There were eight apartment blocks.All rectangular in appearance and boring to look at.the clour scheme was dark brown which did not appeal.Six apartment blocks appeared to share one swimming pool and the other two apartment blocks shared the other pool,overcrowding in one swimming area not the other.

We played the Alamos golf course the Morgado was closed for maintenance until the 24/25th.Not very interesting to play and the green to tee areas were very long,you need a buggy to get around in about four hours for a two ball.

The hotel room was well upholstered but on one ocassion we had an attack of large black ants which was evetually dealt with by the staff.

From the entrance to hotel/golf reception was three kilometres.

Unfortunately will be looking at something different next year,

This Hotel is still being built but the views, pool and rooms are so far exactly what you'd expect from a 5* hotel. However check-in was ridiculously slow and there were lots of annoyed people waiting.

Also there is a great room service menu but in the restaurant you could only have the evening buffet meal. We went into Portimao to eat dinner so can't comment on the quality but did have breakfast. It was a nice and varied buffet exactly like every other 4 and 5* in Portugal.

I would stay here if you like quiet hotels away from everywhere else.

Parfait pour un séjour !

Séjour parfait ! Nous avons pris une nuit supplémentaire, établissement au top, personnel, accueillant et petit déjeuner superbe.
Petit bémol, l’accès à l’hôtel est un peu long en voiture, il faut traverser tout le domaine en pavés.

Struttura incredibile. Un paradiso in una location mozzafiato. Le camere delux hanno una vista veramente da 10 e lode. Il personale è gentile. La piscina è scura e poco invitante. Il ristorante è impresentabile. Il cibo caro è scadente molto lontano dalle pretese del luogo e dal target dei clienti.

Mooie Golf en Country club met een fijn zwembad. Geen massaal park maar mooie hotel kamers. Zoek je aktie, dan moet je een boulevard hotel boeken in Portimao.

La habitacion bastante oscura en cuanto luces sobre todo en zona de lavabo, y cambio de toallas a diario cuando creo que no es necesario. La habitacion lejos del restaurante, y todos los dias mucha caminata hasta poder desayunar.

Hotel für Männer die Golf spielen

Als Paar passt man da überhaupt nicht hin. Anlage ist ungepflegt. Im Speisesaal sehr laut. Ausser Golf gibt es keine Möglichkeit etwas zu tun. Auf dem Grundstück sind 2 grosse Bauruinen. Die Flasche Wein im Zimmer war bereits geöffnet.

- Standort: Das Hotel liegt mit dem Auto ca. 15min von Portimao entfernt an einem Golfplatz innerhalb eines riesigen privaten Areals, fernab von allem anderen. Wer dem Massentourismus entfliehen und eine ruhige Umgebung wünscht, wird hier fündig. Ein (Miet-)Wagen ist bei der Wahl dieser Unterkunft ein absolutes Muss, da es im Umkreis von 10-15 Autominuten nichts außer Natur gibt.
- Hotelanlage: Die Anlage verfügt über 7 oder 8 Gebäude mit jeweils einer geringen Anzahl an Hotelzimmern. Parken ist vor dem eigenen Zimmer möglich. Es gibt es zwei größere Außenpools mit Liegen und Sonnenschirmen und daneben jeweils ein Pool für Kleinkinder. Liegen waren zu jeder Tageszeit verfügbar. Es gibt einen Hauptspeisesaal für Frühstück & Abendessen sowie die Möglichkeit, bis 20 Uhr im Golfclub zu essen.
- Essen: Das Frühstück war für die Hotelklasse absolut angemessen und für jeden war etwas dabei. Das Dinner ist ein (pro Wochentag wechselndes Motto) Buffet für 30€ pro Person. Wir fanden das Dinner leider enttäuschend und empfehlen, lieber Restaurants mit dem Auto zu erkunden.
- Zimmer: Großes Zimmer mit schönem Ausblick, viel Stauraum, sehr großer Dusche und generell sehr zufriedenstellend. Negativ war, dass das Bad sehr dunkel war. Was uns am meisten störte war, dass das Zimmer mit dem Nebenzimmer durch eine Zwischentür verbunden war. An einem so abgelegen Ort wünscht man sich mehr Privatsphäre.

Es la tercera vez que nos ospedamos en este hotel. Con los años ha cambiado, pero sigue ofreciendo una tranquilidad y una paz que no es fácil de encontrar. El servicio excelente como siempre. Las instalaciones están muy bien aunque ya se va notando el paso del tiempo.
