We have been staying in Landis (used to be called the Ritz) since 40 years ago. We like its location because it nears to our business activities. The staffs are courteous. Food in cafe and Chinese restaurant used to be very good. However, we noticed the followings: (1) Hand soap size in the bathroom is 2”x1/4”. The staff told us it will be extra charge when we asked to have an additional hand soap. (2) Face towel (wash rag) is not provided unless the guests request for it. (3) Drinking water in the cafe or restaurant is charged because they give you the bottle water. (4) Food quality at Breakfast buffet is not as good as the past. (5) Gym is on the top floor without elevator that is not friendly to elderly people to go up two stairs well. (6) Its almost impossible to ask for the late check out from Landis. We believe that Landis can do better as a Five Stars Hotel.

This is a misrepresentation of a 5 Star property. Not in the part of town you will want to stay, the property is aged and badly needs and updated, the linens and towels are not the level you would expect, and the cleanliness was not appropriate. This is a 3 star hotel at best, I have reported to hotels.com

Rooms were a little smaller than the others that we had on a trip throughout Taiwan, Beijing and Hong Kong, but good enough overall for our needs. This definitely felt like a five-star experience. The upgraded deluxe room was more like a junior suite. The bathroom was awesome - shower wet room and tub with neck pillow. They have courtesy shoe shining, I put them out in the hall and they were literally done in 10 minutes. The staff was fantastic. Taipei is very hot this time of year and they had water at the front door that was flavored with fruit - grapefruit, lemon and lime. They also had filtered cold water stations at every floor by the elevators so you can refill water bottles. The rooftop terrace was okay; fitness room was nice. My wife is a Francophile and ate at the French restaurant and said it was as good as anything she's had in Paris - many places in Paris don't serve souffles anymore because it requires a special oven and their souffle was phenomenal. Overall a very nice property and a fantastic value - we paid $152/night.

Clean but small. The walls and doors are thin so you can hear activity outside. Amenities were few including lack of a coffee machine or Nespresso machine. Location is not central and there is lack of tourist friendly areas nearby. Also a bit of a ways from the MRT station. We thought the stay was OK for the price but probably won't stay again.

Found bed bugs crawling on the bed when I came back from breakfast after the first night, reported to the front desk but was told they’d clean the room.
Second night, the bed was clean, the room smelled like it was sterilized but after I came back from breakfast the next day there were bugs all over again.

Finally was able to change rooms for the remaining 2 nights, but wished they could have changed rooms immediately. Fortunate haven’t found any bites on my body, but needed to sterilize everything I brought.

This is my 2nd stay a week apart from my 1st. I stayed at the suite & standard room. Coming with a lot of lugagge, the standard room seemed not big enough from the pics but actually it left enough space to walk with one bag spread open on the floor. The bathroom was narrow, not cramped but cannot fit 2 people, there is no double sinks in either the standard or suite. If you need room, the standard room is enough, because the suite doesn't give much more room besides the sofa area.

The breakfast didn't have a lot of food options and everyday seemed the same. During 15 day stay only got to experience the a la carte menu on 3 days. At a hotel rated 5 stars I would've expected least an omelet station and expresso. They didn't provide to go breakfast option, would ran out of food by 9am & the food would be cold by that time. The only good thing about the bfast was the weekday manager who would greet me & be very attentative and remember u by name.

Tian Shang Lo was horrible, don't go, not up to the Michelin. 45 mins for a dish and no taste.

The front desk lady sometimes was not helpful, not the best attitude. The bell men were the most polite of all. They always opened the door & greeted when coming back & helped with the luggages into the car which other hotels don't do. The bellmen & bfast manager are the reason I'd stay again.

Maybe 4 stars hotel, some areas to improve like front desk and bfast options. But great value and location, still recommend.

3days before reaching Taipei from Singapore. Received an email mentioning that my card was not valid. Reservation will be canceled in 24hrs time if I don’t get a valid card for their record. And immediately do a full payment with the same card I placed for my reservation. The card which I placed the reservation is 6-7months ago and last min sending me an email mentioning my card was not valid… Not sure what game play they are up to

An older hotel in Zhongshan district, with a bus stop right outside that has many routes to helpfully take you to the key sightseeing areas. Where the hotel itself is located is a little out of the way so there is not much happening on your doorstep at night - but you can easily get to a nightmarket or a shopping area by bus / MRT / a short bike ride.

Hotel staff speak limited English but are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean with all facilities in good working order, even though the hotel itself is quite old - no complaints, we had a good stay.

Very nicely designed room. The hotel doesn’t look the most eye catching from the outside but from the moment you step into the lobby up until into the room you will be amazed at how much care to details they put. Elevators are pre-pressed for you, the room are clean to the nook and crannies and a glass of water is prepared for you. The only inconvinience is that u have to prepare your own vanity kit as the hotel is competing in the “ eco- friendly” category.

Terrible Experience at a Supposed 5-Star Hotel”

I’m shocked that this is considered a 5-star hotel. My experience here has been nothing short of terrible:
1.The hotel demands a 2000 TWD deposit per night, which is only refunded 10 business days after checkout. Why would a fully paid accommodation withhold money like this? To make matters worse, Google reviews mention guests being charged on their credit cards even after checkout.
2.Hotel staff entered my room without permission before my checkout time. Checkout is at 11:00 AM, yet they entered around 10:30 AM.
3.My personal belongings were damaged, and the hotel attempted to make it look as though I had caused the damage myself.

Additionally, the shower room was filthy, and there was no in-room water. Guests are forced to use a water dispenser outside, which doesn’t even provide hot water.

Hotels.com should seriously reconsider keeping this property listed.

My room was old and outdated with questionable design choices and drab colours, made worse with yellowish lighting that made everything look sickly and depressing. The view outside overlooking a playground was nothing to shout about either.
The property is sorely due for a refresh! Please at least make the corridors brighter, they are so dim they feel like walking through a dungeon to my doom. Not pleasant at all!
The staff tries their best to take care of the guests despite the disappointing environment but there's only so much they can do. Either renovate, or shut down the building entirely.

My stay here was short but sweet with lovely, helpful staff and a luxurious room. It was a shame I had to leave so soon and had to rush breakfast as there was so much choice, even an a la carte breakfast menu in addition to the buffet. I’m not too sure how well placed the hotel was in terms of location as I got taxis mostly but the hotel is a five minute walk away or so to an underground station. The dressing gowns were amazing quality, perfect for after having a relaxing bath in the huge bathtub!

A bit far from Taipei main station or Taipei 101. Lots of restaurant selections nearby. Hotel does not provide any amenities citing environmental concerns but you can buy their kits for a fee or from convenient stores across the street. Other than that, we had a nice stay. Bathrooms are equipped with latest model bidets - all hands free. Plenty of breakfast selections, from Taiwanese, Japanese to western. If you forget to purchase BK option with the room, it’s TW660.

To me, the Landis hotel in Taipei is excellent.
When booking online I had to make decision between Aloft or Landis.
After reading reviews, I took my chance and chose Landis. I didn’t stay at Aloft but I was very happy with my stay at Landis
The hotel is clean, convenient located.

Solid hotel, great service, super clean with amazing beds. Its decor is slightly dated but the facilities are maintained very well by a super professional team. The room are smaller but the bathroom and the rain shower is immaculate. It is a bit far from Taipei 101 and the heart of Taipei (10 minutes taxi ride). We did walk it one time which was beautiful. Tons of amazing cafes and bakeries around. 3 minute walk to the metro station.

Rooms are not provided with any hand soap since disposable soaps are no longer permitted in the city or something per receptionist. If guests wanted a amenity bag it would costs NT$100. We were given a bag free but we really just needed the hand soap and nothing else from that bag. Hotel could at least provide refillable hand soap in each guest room to keep all common areas like elevator buttons sanitized and clean. I felt like people are not going to wash their hands thoroughly if they had to step into the shower to use the refillable shower gel.
Otherwise stay was great.

I booked this thinking it was a 5 star property. It was very old and looks like it has never been remodeled. The carpet had stains all over it in the room. The place is super old. I originally booked in a different hotel but last minute I changed to booked Landis Taipei, which turned out a one of the best decision for our family trip. It’s a very classic five stars hotel with the best city center location, five minutes walk to the MRT, which connects to every sightseeing attractions in Taipei.

Also, the surrounding areas have so much to offers, foods, massages and everything.

Furthermore we really appreciate the hotel staffs, their concierge staff are so helpful, their room are nice , good value for a city central location, breakfast buffet are great.

Lastly, I really love they put so many great books for guests to read, I loved one book so much and I just asked for buying from them, but they actually decided to give it to me when I checked out. What a surprise and how kind and generous.

We will return to Taipei and we’ll stay this hotel definitely. Thanks.

I thought this is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star price. Room is huge but super out dated and dirty. There’s a dead bug by the window when I checked in. Guess what? It’s still lying there after three nights. Apparently house keeping comes in and ‘cleans’ my room everyday but failed to notice that. I stayed here as I had a business dinner at the French restaurant at the hotel, which was pretty average by the way. There are so many much better hotels at this price in Taipei.
