Weird place. It’s a clean place in a decent location for a reasonable price but I don’t recommend it.
If this were a backpacker or traveler hostel it would be great but the lounge feels like the living room of the long term low income Taiwanese guests. The fridge is packed. People don’t talk to each other. Weird vibes.
If they make a mistake, you have to pay. Make sure to get a receipt because they won’t trust you when you say you paid.

The Discover hostel is amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. They make you feel like family immediately. They help you with whatever you need, whether that be helping you figure out how to call a cab or helping you unlock your locker when you reset and forget the code (oops). The location is great, near the center of the city. It’s right next to a bus stop and a short walk away from a subway stop. There are many little restaurants and 7/11’s extremely close by, so if you get the munchies, you don’t have to walk far. The hostel is just off a main road so it’s super easy to get a taxi. The SongShan airport is so close you could walk if your luggage isn’t heavy. Or you can easily take a bus. Oh, and if you walk in the direction of the airport, you come across a cool, pretty park. I had some great conversations with people there. It’s a great place to go to take a walk or meet new people or see an evening music performance.

You won’t regret this!
The stay was very comfortable and the staff was overall very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure your stay feels welcoming. The Egyptian Cotton bedding was extremely comfortable, as were their actual mattress and pillow, both supportive and soft enough for many good nights sleep. While I stayed for one night and was considering another, I overheard a couple different people who extended their stays, and to me that sounded like a compliment in itself. I’d definitely return to stay here again.

I had great experience staying at Taipei Discover Hostel.
It’s located near Taipei TSA airport (majority domestic flights and some short distance international flights).
MRT station is 5 mines walk and there’s every kinds of food near you: McDonald’s, 7-ELEVEn, Taiwanese street food, various selections of hotpot (chicken cooked with sesame oil, duck cooked with old ginger, goat cooked with Chinese herbs), also some foreign food like Korean or pizza.
There’s also traditional street market located at western side of the hostel, just a block away and very easy to access.
The famous temple Xing-Tian-Gong is located at eastern side and within 10 minutes walk. The underpath has several fortune teller booths. I saw many signs says “Japanese translation available” but not confident if they offer English. Maybe you will need a translator.
Hostel staffs are friendly and willing to give advice. On the second night of my stay, I was lucky enough to met the owner at lounge area. He really cared about my experience staying here, after several conversations he started explained the specifications of this hostel.

The owner said he set up the air vent for each cube. Fresh air was pumped from the roof, filtered and distributed to each cube. That’s an astonishing idea!

This place is located in a peace area steps from the MRT station. Staff are super friendly and helpful, simple breakfast provided and it's just nice at the rooftop place. The bed is comfortable and allows you to have your privacy zone even in a shared dorm. Toilet and shower room are always clean.
Overall, I was really happy during my stay here and will of course consider this place if going to Taipei again.

stayed for a day twice on my way from the US to S.E.Asia. An excellent cheap alternative to a transit hotel. Firm and comfortable mattress. Good shower. Local breakfast and meal choices nearby. The subway is a 5 min walk away and the bus to airport stops right across the street.

An excellent stay at Taipei Discover Hostel! This was the first time that I stayed in a capsule-style hostel, but Taipei Discover Hostel was great. Initially, I had hestiated with booking a capsule-style because I'm pretty sensitive to noise, but luckily, there were no snorers in the room during my one-night stay. Just a word of caution for noise-sensitive individual because there is only a curtain that pulls down that covers your 'room'. Also, there were maybe16 capsules within the female-only dorm.
Everything was very clean, from the washrooms to the capsule. Also, the size of the capsule was great; I thought it was going to be small, but I had more than enough room to sit up comfortably and even get all my makeup on using the convenient large mirror inside the capsule. So smart to put a desk ledge inside too. There is a separate locker outside the capsule to put your things, but it's pretty small (enough for a backpack).
Very easy to find; extremely close to the Zhongshan Elementary School MRT station exit 4 (only about 5 minutes away). Coming out of the station, turn right towards the large underpass. Walk straight until you find the hostel, which is found on a corner. The entrance is on the side and is clearly marked. Sixth floor is a mixed dorm, while the seventh floor is a fantastic rooftop lounge area for all guests. Free green tea and a cool view.

8 months old nice hostel, recently opened. It's NOT party hostel, it's nice, clean and quiet a bit, if you into partying and socializing a lot, this is not your hostel, it's sort of small, 2 floors.

Had some trouble finding the place
I had trouble finding the hotel. If you take the MRT, make sure to get off at the Zongshan Elementary School station. Not the similarly named Zongshan Junior High School station. Write down the address and phone number and have someone call for you who speaks Chinese if you get lost.
Chinese people don't understand the romanization of the word Mincyuan. It is Ming-Chen in Chinese. It is very close to the Xintian temple. Section 2, which is part of the address, is a section of town and you can find a building with the no.21, in section 3 and go in, and take the elevator up to the 5th floor like a fool. I know, because I did.
Their website includes directions, but I didn't find them very helpful. They were basic. The booking engines don't have any directions to the hotel at all, just the address. The website has many local attractions, some with pictures. I would like him to include some cartoon maps, some directions with compass headings and landmarks, like local stores you will pass. When you are trying to walk to a hotel at night and you are tired from being in sweaty subway tunnels and train cars for hours and you don't speak the language, and you are worried you will be a fool cause you couldn't find the hotel, it is nice when they take that extra step. If most people are going to use the MRT, anyway, then they could include more detailed directions for that mode of transport.
Not recommended for multi-night stays for those with a poor sense of direction.

初めてドミトリーに泊まりましたが何不自由無く過ごせました。宿の方も親切で、かといって干渉される事もなくベッドも寝やすく満足しています。連日の雨でシャワー横にコインランドリーがあり大変助かりました。夜市も歩いて行ける距離にあり、人気の韮水餃子は凄く美味しかったです。又機会があれば泊まりたいと思います。

De manière générale un très bon séjour (inconvénient voir à la fin) avec comme réservation un lit dans un dortoir pour femmes.
Nous étions 2 au total dans le dortoir qui était normalement pour plus de 10 de mémoire donc c’était très bien.
La salle de bain commune est pas mal, il n’y a pas de porte ou de rideau pour la douche pour protéger / séparer votre serviettes mais c’est un détail.
Localisation bien aussi car à côté du métro, un konbini a 30 secondes (mais souvent dévalisé le soir).
Grande salle commune avec cuisine, balcon / terrasse. Possibilité de laver son linge en payant et autres trucs supplémentaires super.
Seul inconviennent à noter : le wifi en fonctionne quasiment pas du tout !! Il a marché je pense au total 1h sur 2 nuits restées dans l’hostel.

訂房時是有含早餐的價格，checkin卻說自兩年前已不提供早餐，令人費解為何這麽重要的資訊可拖延兩年不更新網頁，難免讓人認為廣告不實。拖鞋看起來很久未清洗，行李寄放會被放在櫃台外面，除非櫃臺時刻有人，不然有遺失的疑慮。

以前なかったシャワー室の脱衣カゴを置く棚、小便器の上に置かれた大きな輪切りの木片、木の香りが良かった
快適に過ごすことができました。スタッフは、とってもフレンドリーです。部屋のカーテンの裾の剥がれ等使用感が感じられところがありました。早急に改善されると、利用者が快適に過ごせると思います。以前滞在した時はなかったものとして、シャワー室に付けられた、脱衣カゴを置く棚、小便器の上に置かれた輪切りの木片、木の香りが良かったです。また一人で行く時は利用したいと思っています。
