In the two months I spent in Taiwan this was by far my favorite hotel. The hotel has an amazing kind and helpful staff, who went far and beyond, making you feel very comfortable. The room was modern, big enough and cleaned everyday. The area (Zhongshan) was also my favorite in Taipei. Lots of food, shopping and entertainment. Would stay here again for sure. Thank you!

Heart of the city. Caters to mid level Japanese salarymen. Service and attentiveness is almost over the top for westerners. Multi language staff, knowledgeable and a great location. Rooms are clean and renovated as best it can be. Very small laundry facilities on site with large coin op store 5 min walk away. Super convenient.

Tokyo International Hotel is a hidden gem.with a wonderful staff and accommodations. It’s situated in a perfect location full of shops and restaurants along with a mall within walking distance. Great place for both business and family travelers

We stayed for nine nights. Front desk is outstanding and tremendously helpful. The property is in the old part of town, and it's not easy to maintain in great shape. However, it was good overall. We had some issues with internet connectivity which were promptly and successfully dealt with. Location is fantastic for activities along the Red Line which is where most activities we wanted to see and do take place. We had zero issues with street noise or contiguous room noise. TV is horrible in quality of signal and type of programing but nobody should go to Taipei to watch TV at a hotel room anyways. In our next visit, we are definitely going back to this slice of Japan in the middle of Taipei!!!

This hotel is very accessible, about 7 min walking distance to Zhongshan station. Many food eateries and restaurants within 5min walk from the hotel. There are also many convenient stores nearby.

The room is very clean though a little small for 4 persons. The room has very good sound proof from outside, hardly can hear any noise from outside during sleeping time.

The counter personnels are very polite and can always offer help when you need. We got help from the counter staffs on direction and recommendations. We got 4 spare MRT cards from the counter staff, that helps us some trouble of getting them. At the end of the trip, we can just return the MRT cards back to counter staff easily.

The counter staff help us to arrange transport to and fro from the airport. Besides that the staffs also help plan and arrange tours with the local driver. That is really helpful and convenient!

Highly recommend this hotel for getting around in Taipei!

My stay at this hotel was wonderful! I checked in early and left my suitcase at the front desk. When I returned that evening, the staff had kindly placed it in my room. The staff were incredibly friendly and engaging. When I asked for sightseeing recommendations, they provided helpful and practical advice. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. Everyone I interacted with was so nice and welcoming. Highly recommend!

The hotel itself was relatively old though still kept in decent condition. The facilities were well kept and acceptable. Kudos to the staff who were all friendly and helpful. A slight inconvenience would be its location which is about 10-15 minutes' walk from Zhongshan station. Overall is more than value for money if one doesnt mind walking for abit or will be taking cabs or Uber most of the time.

For such an expensive hotel it should have been much better
I paid half the price for a much better hotel before so I was very disappointed.
The cleanliness could have been better as it’s a Japanese hotel

I needed a place in Taipei for one night so chose this one. Good location, lovely staff. They had forgotten towels in my room but a quick call and 30 seconds later there they were. Room was chic and comfortable too. Downside? The breakfast. Everything was cold, they just couldn’t keep it warm and the coffee was out of a flask. This let it down as the Taiwanese breakfast I’d had in my Kaohsiung hotel was amazing. So, I’ll give these guys an ‘ok’ and very lovely staff

The in room Wi-Fi slow can't watch YouTube on 480 or 720. Stop buffering and watch. Bathroom ventilation was poor and after shower, the whole felt stuffy.

We stayed in this hotel for a total of five nights. We chose this hotel based on excellent reviews of friendly hotel staff. And our expectation was not betrayed. They really try to foresee what we need and offer their help even before we ask for it. They asked us if we want to leave our luggage while we were visiting other cities, they give detailed instructions to tax drivers every time we needed a cab, and they told us where we could try an authentic Taiwanese stew, etc. It's like you have a personal assistance yet they are not that intrusive. The hotel is located on a convenient yet very busy street, but the room was quiet. It was also very clean. I will stay this place again when I visit Taipei next time.

My best hotel experience in Taiwan

We had a wonderful stay for 3 nights over the Christmas period. The service provided by the hotel staff was exceptional. Not only the counter staff addressed us by name each time we go in and out of the hotel, even the ladies serving breakfast know where we come from. We feel like taking an SIA business class flight where cabin staff address you by name. On the last morning when we needed to leave at 5am to catch a early morning flight , the hotel staff called the cab for us and prepared hot tea and rice balls for us to eat at the airport. Very thoughtful.
The hotel room is spotlessly clean. The room is well proportioned. The sound insulation is superb even though it is on a busy road. The breakfast buffet spread is very good with local, Japanese and western cuisine. This hotel provided first class product and service at a very reasonable price. I will definitely choose this hotel when I come to Taipei the next time.

This was our second 4 day stay and again we were impressed by the exemplary staff,
Last trip we thought it was an anomaly that we would smell cigarette smoke in our room. This trip we came to realize that although this hotel, like all others in Taipei, is non smoking, the management has made a decision not to actively promote that fact. They are happy to turn a blind eye to smoking because of their majority clientele, businessmen from Japan. That’s a business decision for them. Iif cigarette smoke is a dealbreaker for you, definitely take a pass on this hotel.

The staff at this hotel was wonderful. The front desk staff was friendly, well informed, and seemed always ready to go the extra mile to be helpful. The breakfast was variable in quality, but what didn’t vary was the kindness and professionalism of the staff in the kitchen. The housekeepers were, likewise, very considerate and careful about their jobs.
Our room was on the small size and lacking natural light, but had everything we needed.
I appreciated the gym.

Located in Taipei's area known as \"Little Japan\", about a 10 minute walk from nearest Metro station (Jong shan, red line), this is a friendly base from which to explore local Japanese and Chinese shops and eateries. One stop away on the Metro from Taipei's main railway station. Hotel staff friendly and efficient, English and Japanese speakers, rooms designed for business visitors, but fine for tourists. Families with small children would find it a challenge, though.

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is very well kept, very classy, and in a fairly convenient location. The staff is truly world class quality as they were tremendously courteous, professional, and pleasant to be around. They speak good English and Japanese. Breakfast was also very good.

There were two practical issues I thought could have been better. First, the wifi is pretty poor. Connections were not stable and it was difficult to use. For a hotel of this quality I really expect better wifi. Second, the fitness room is small, but it is nice. However, it is only open from 10 am - 10 pm. This sort of perplexes me as it seems it can easily stay open other hours as well. This makes it difficult for a business traveler to utilize it and I think this could be a point to work on.

Otherwise, this was a great hotel and would stay again. If strong internet is absolutely essential you may want to look elsewhere though.

The best things about this hotel were how clean it was and how awesome the complimentary breakfast was. My cousin had recommended this hotel for me and my family with 2 small kids since it was only 2 miles from my grandmother's home in Taipei. We got a family size room with 2 full/queen sized beds. Overall, the space is smaller (you feel a bit like you're in Tokyo), but the room feels super clean which I loved. The breakfast is great for people who like a Japanese/Chinese style one with miso soup, congee with toppings, some type of egg and ham each day. There was also the usual toast and salad bar. The only things that I would have liked was a swimming pool and more space, but then I would have been paying much more. The staff was exceedingly good, with great Japanese-culture like service. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel is close to a lot of touristy things

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is modern, updated, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning, absolutely necessary in the heat and humidity, works very well. When we arrived in a rain storm downpour, hotel staff were there with lots of umbrellas to usher us into the lobby while other staff collected our luggage from the cab. Check in was a breeze, and we were in our room shortly after check in. There are lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood, as well as a few shopping malls, and 2 red line MRT stations just blocks away. The bus to the airport, the 1819, runs every half hour, stops in front of two different hotels just a block away. The rooms are of average size, mostly the size of an North American hotel room. The rooms are quiet, no noise from the rooms next door, nor the street. Washrooms are relatively spacious, which can be a big plus to some. Ours had a bathtub and separate shower. The breakfast option will suffice if included, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. I found it geared more to the oriental clientele, although they did make us eggs over easy just because we asked about eggs. All in all, a pleasant experience. Huge kudos to Erik and Masako, who were extremely helpful.

Superb stay. Every staff member supporting this hotel have a great sense of hospitality. I will be back. The best I've seen outside of Japan. My booking was last minute and I didn't book the right rooms. The reception staff promptly gave me options and allowed me to upgrade at reasonable price - settled on super VIP which has a lounge area. Neat and clean with amenities you find in Tokyo. Also was late arriving for breakfast but again they accommodated me. There is a washing machine and dryer which came in handy. The staff offered to watch over my drying and send to my room. They helped hail and instruct the cab drivers. The location has plenty of options for food. A few doors down there is a noodle place that gives Din Tai Fung a run for its money.

The hotel is not close to the MRT - about 10 minutes walk. It is not recommended for disabled or elderly travelers.

My room faced an adjacent building. Do request for a room with a view of the street.

The room and bathroom are clean. However, it is awkward to shower while standing in the small bathtub.

The breakfast spread is limited and predominantly tailored towards Japanese tastes.

This hotel is not recommended for couples.

The location is busy & fun with shops, restaurants and everything you need right outside your door. It almost has a Times Square feeling about it. The MRT is a good 10 minute walk and a few streets away, but in a very safe neighborhood so the walk was pleasant even after midnight. the staff at this hotel was non-stop with their 5 star service. The check in was quick and efficient, any questions we had throughout our stay were answered, and if for any reason the person at the desk didn't speak English (which was rare) they quickly got someone who could. the rooms were excellent. Huge for that part of the world! Japanese toilet seats which are indescribably great! Comfortable beds, huge soaking bathtubs, flat screen TVs with many cable channels & many movie channels in English as well as local stuff. The breakfast was delicious local foods & even included cereal & milk for those days when you wanted a little taste of home. I was so impressed with this hotel I returned and stayed a 2nd time, and I am hoping to make it a 3rd!

Breakfast variety is limited

The breakfast has limited variety. They have a toaster which always burns your bread. Do not touch the dial to adjust the toaster because the lady there will yield on you. She also has a very loud voice so do not expect to have a quite breakfast. If you are sensitive to loud voice, make sure to bring your ear plugs. Other than that, the hotel is very clean.

Tower is too old, no smoke in the room

The hotel is very clean. No smoke smell in the room., excellent service. The only minor issue is that their towel is too old. It looks like they never replace their towel in the past 10 years. The other concern is that the lady serving breakfast has a very loud voice. Just give you a head up so you won't get shocked.

If staying in Taipei this is a great hotel.

Excellent boutique hotel. Chris on the front desk was incredibly helpful. The other front desk staff were very kind also. Good internet connectivity throughout the hotel. Rooms were spotless. Free coffee offered throughout the day. Great place right next door (exit hotel and very first shop on your left) for food, delicious, quick and value for money. The hotel breakfast was just ok. Right in the heart of things with lots of shops and places to eat within walking distance. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent hotel with reasonable price

Stayed in this hotel for 5 days for leisure holiday. This was our second return staying at this lovely hotel. Excellent service, clean, quiet and comfort room. Super friendly and helpful staffs, like the good hot breakfast to start the day. Very convenience location to local food, shopping and walking distance to subway station and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store. Recommend this hotel with full confidence, excellent !!!

Cosy hotel with a big heart

Tokyo International Hotel is like a cosy family-run hotel with the ambitions and quality of a top-range 5-star hotel. All of the staff were warm, friendly and inviting and they always had an English speaker to help us with every query and need. It is a relatively smaller hotel than the typical 5-star luxury hotels, but it goes to great lengths to provide quality that is in no way lacking. The staff at the desk, Erick and Jane, got to know us and planned our itinerary for us daily, giving us tips on how to get around Taipei easily as well as customised our tours to suit our needs. Going around Taipei was such a breeze on our own having had their advice. The hotel is situated about a 5-10min walk from Zhongshan MRT station and you pass through local designers, the local film theatre with a lovely coffee joint, several shopping malls and quaint little shops along the way to the hotel. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were really sad to leave!

boutique hotel w/ great staff, efficient location

Booked this hotel based on reviews about the Front Desk staff.
Staff spoke Mandarin, Hokkien, Japanese and English with A LOT of information with things to do once you arrive.
Degree of service was a bit surprising ( am used to a generic chain) - they offered tea when we just stood at the lobby to sit, always offered to give data/directions. Helpful with our bags and always generous with courtesy and politeness- maybe because they cater to a lot of Japanese clientele as per a past reviews from different sites. They are really accomodating they will help you every time you are ready to step out for the day. Albeit one front desk staff didn't seem to know there is another Chunghwa Telecom that was open later within a 10 min walk and was re routing us elsewhere.

We got a room with 2 small windows (2' x 1') and I would pull up the blinds in preparation for the morning - got the tip from a reviewer either on expedia or tripadvisor. However my mom felt there were no windows. She rises with the sun, and said it was hard for her to wake up with no windows. I'm used to N.America where you rise based on body clock sun or no sun, so it didnt bother me.

Breakfast- good hearty breakfast with simple spread. Not continental, there is bread/toast and jam , cereal. Then the best parts!! real food. Congee (with all the toppings japanese style) ham, eggs, rice, vegetables. It almost felt like an Irish Breakfast but Asian Style. Felt like I was at home at my grandma's.

Clean room and friendly hotel staff

Our family of 3 stayed at Tokyo International Hotel for 4 nights. We stayed in a 2 double beds room at the second floor. The room is very clean and comfortable, except for the cigarette smell at night which lingered till the next morning. I guess it's because we were on the lower floor. Good thing the room window can be opened, so the cigarette smell went away in the morning after we opened the window for 20 minutes in the morning. However, there was no smell on the last two nights of our stay.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Helped us get a taxi to the airport and remembered almost every hotel guests staying at the hotel.

The breakfast in the hotel served home cooked food. Very delicious and heart warming spread.

There are a number of good eating houses just besides and around the hotel. Location is near the MRT, around 10 mins walk.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and we would stay in this hotel again when we visit Taipei next time.

Good value for money, nice staff, and clean

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Tokyo International. This is a very good value-for-money choice in Taipei.
The staff was extremely nice and friendly, and always willing to help when we needed (directions, taxis, etc).
The room was simple and a little small but it had everything we needed. No problem with cleanliness.
Breakfast was fine although mostly targeting Asian visitors.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel as it was good value for money, it was clean, and it was well located in an area with lots of restaurants and at about 10 minutes walk from the MRT.

Perfect budget deal

I stayed in this hotel for attending a conference that was be held in the Regent Hotel. It just at about 3 minutes of walking distance from the Tokyo Hotel. It's a great and valuable budget hotel, the wifi service is also excellent.I believe that I will not regret to stay again in this hotel if I come into Taipei in the future.

a real treat

the rooms were great. the staff was very helpful. the only downfall was the breakfast. small room. low ceiling. not much of a choice late in the breakfast period. perhaps had i gotten there earlier i would have felt differently, but if you say it ends at 10 then there should be food there until 9:45 anyway. overall it was great and i will go back.
