Great hotel close to mrt stations and walkable to Taipei Main Station which provides connections to all over.
Room size is very good/sizeable for Asia. Bathroom very sizeable too, with the shower having great water pressure and heaps hot water. Important after a long day touring.
Beds are very comfy. Views aren't epic given the older area/location, but it doesn't matter if you're out and about.
Breakfast is good too, with many selections - mostly Asian style though.
Overall a great stay.

Room was very small for a medium room as compared to the other Amba I had stayed. Lifts and walkways were dark. Super eco friendly as no disposable toiletries was provided. Was unaware of this and had to go out in the heavy rain to buy toothbrushes which i forgot. Luckily I have the habit to bring my own toileteries.

I booked a king size room but their king size bed is literally a combination of two twin beds, you can feel the gap between the two mattress when you lay down on your “king size bed”. even the cheapest motel won’t do that.

Super fantastic hotel, an amazing experience... My wife and I are in Taipei for a couple days. We chose this hotel for the location and proximity to the light rail and how easy it was to navigate the city, we're blown away with the hospitality of the staff, the cleanliness of the hotel and the overall great vibe.. each room is set up comfortably. There are independent routers for fast internet in each room, an espresso coffee maker with pods refreshed daily. What was very surprising? Is that on floor two? There are several washing machines and dryers along with complimentary tide soap for use for the guests, that came in. Very handy I can't think AMBA enough for having that service .We also chose to have the breakfast included and the spread was outstanding.... Breakfast was served from 6:30 to 10:30. Okay ample seating. The food was flavorful. There was a mix of international cuisines and the service was on point.. The breakfast was served buffet style with a self-serve coffee machine that offered selections like americanos, espressos and cappuccinos along with a variety of teas. The Amba does not disappoint and do yourself a favor. Forget about Uber. Forget about trying to navigate the city with rideshare, go down to the light rail. Grab a day pass for $3 American and enjoy that service. It is a easy to navigate system

Property is located in an area with big brands n 5 star hotels offering a more economic option. About 8-10 mins walk to 2 different mrt stations. Very convenient when for commute within Taipei or to the outskirts like Tamsui n Beitou hot spring area. Excellent dining n shopping opportunities near Zhongshan mrt station. Lots of cafes n restaurants serving various crusines. There r underground arcade, local boutiques, 2nd hand stores n many more. Surprised by some larger restaurants that don't take credit cards!

Excellent location and room, but just 1 issue

It had been an amazing stay with amba! I had stayed in this hotel for countless time for business and this is the first time I visited again in almost 4 years. Room conditions, services, location are all excellent. The only downside we had was from one night (out of 4 nights we stayed) had no hot water because of boiler issues. We didnt receive any notifications from staff until we tried to take a shower after a long day. The hotel offered transport for us to go to another amba hotel for shower but with a tired young kid ww decided to take a cold shower instead of all the hassles. We never heard any apologize from the hotel for this issue unfortunately that was quite disappointing. But I believe it was only a one-off issue, and we will still stay with this hotel for our next visit to Taipei!

Stay around the new cool district

It is a pleasant stay for us. The hotel is walking distance from R9 Zhongshan MRT. I could see
many Japanese, Korean staying
in this Amba branch compared
to the Songshan one. The electronic curtain does better than black out curtain and I think it is not noisy at all even our room is facing main street. The alarm clock has such a soothing melody. Breakfast has quite few varieties : japanese and western, soy milk, juice and coffee are decent too.
Don’t be fooled by the main street and walk around to the alleys, you’ll see many new cafes , izakaya and restaurant around. There is 24H coin laundy behind the hotel, near the zhong an park just beside the 7/11. About 5mins walk.

Pros: Nice area with good restaurants around and close to transportation

Cons: So-so service and some rubber carpet/matting all throughout the entire hotel from outside the rooms to inside the rooms including the bathroom, in place of carpet/tile/wood. Feels ok, but can be rough on the feet if go barefoot which I do. Balcony view isn't great but ok. Huge bed and huge bathroom. Toilet door hits toilet cover, so it is a squeeze there but ok. Nicely appointed and I love the toggle switches for the electricity. Air conditioning was all in Chinese, and no matter which buttons I pressed, I could not get the temperature down or the air con to go higher. My room resulted in a higher temperature than the hallway outside my room.

This was our third stay at this hotel. We like it for its location and because of its cleanliness and modern and chic decor. Perhaps the only thing we could find fault with is the lack of storage space. There are no drawers and we ended up living out of our suitcase.

It's a fun and modern hotel. We only stayed one night.
Plus: new and modern. friendly staff, room is pleasing and clean line, free flip-flop, coffee and tea in the room, bed is comfortable. AC control in the room. Lots to eat around.
Con: about 10 minutes walk to Shaunglian station. Shower tiles were not very clean. Door for the small bathroom is strange, it swings both way. Room is also small.

Multiple universal PowerPoint in e room n also USP port too. Don't have to worry if you did not bring adaptor.

We asked the front desk staff (man) July 16 morning where the nearest post office is. The man checked his computer and told me how to go there. However, when we walked to the direction, we found another post office closer and easier to go to. And we went. Got this idea, we went back hotel and told the staff that there is actually another closer post office that if next customers asked it, he can tell them. To my surprise that he didn’t say ‘sorry about the wrong direction or thanks for letting us know the information”, he just said “oh” and end of conversation. This is totally not acceptable.

A casual hotel on a main street

First of all, this hotel is located in a very good location. It’s easy access to Zhongshan metro station and Taipei main station. Also, some foreign travel agency is on the same street. So, you can ask some tours there.

The hotel facilities were very new and casual. Personally, I liked a pair of free flip-flops and Oolong tea bags.

Hotel staff is friendly and willing to help. There is even service to change normal to memory pillow which helps in my sleeping. It's a 5-10 minutes walk to MRT station and stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Hence, it does get tiring walking back and forth to MRT station. Eventually, getting at taxi below the hotel is easy.

Very nice hotel. We stayed in king-balcony room so nice size room. Very quiet. Staff was very helpful - offering to bring us coffee on mornings we left before breakfast (although they could not get us any food). Not much choice for restaurants but several small markets nearby.
The only problem we had was a photo-shoot scheduled for the sitting area on our floor. Why schedule an event outside guest rooms, lasting for several hours, until 9pm.?????? We complained but not sure it had any effect. The sitting area on each floor was ready made to generate problems - not sure what their purpose was/is.

Room was extremely clean, spacious and had everything I needed. Even the washroom was large and fully stocked. Pretty central location and a quick walk to the nearest train station. Staff was polite and helpful. I never had a chance to eat at the restaurant downstairs but seeing as how it was fully packed, it must be a good sign.

I stayed 5 days in this hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful at the check in counter. It was easy to use airport to tWe used the airport bus to reach there,the bus stoped at the opposite side of the road. We also took the airport bus to air this stopped only few steps from hotel.

Loved the hotel, the atmosphere, the design, the deco. we stayed in Medium Double Room , the room was spacious, simple but stylish, and I love how eco friendly they are, this is important. 5 mins walk from the MRT, easy to navigate, lots of shopping area and food close by. walk-able distance to Ningxia night market. however the breakfast was not impressing, when I asked for Omelet and sunny-side up, they forgot my order and i had to go to the counter again to ask for it, the selection wasn't various enough. this was the only not-so-satisfied part of our stay. other than that, it was great!

Amazing boutique hotel in the heart of Taipei city

After my first stay with Amba Zhongshan since June 2016, I have been staying with them whenever I visit Taipei. Its located in the CBD of Taipei where everything is close by. Staff are all friendly and helpful and they always try their best to meet my expectations (my requirements for my stay are always high level floors near the elevator). All in all, Amba is my first choice whenever I visit Taipei as its not expensive compared to other hotels in the same neighbourhood (Nikkon Hotel, Ambassedor Hotel, Regent are all located on the same street).
