We found the staff to be friendly and the rooms were clean and well kept. However, our first night was very disrupted as the back side of the hotel is close to a club, with loud music playing until around 6am, so we didn’t get much sleep. The staff were helpful in moving us to a room at the front of the hotel the next morning, where it was much quieter.

I love everything about this hotel but most of all the staff. They were very eager to help in anyway they could. They were all very kind. Breakfast was superb. The bed was firmer than I Iike but the room was beautiful, very spacious and well appointed. The staff kept the room spotless. I found that I was within walking distance of Tha Phae gate which is the starting point for a huge Sunday night market, together with many other points of interest including Kalm Village. I will happily stay here again if I am ever fortunate enough to come back to Chiang Mai.

This was a little piece of Heaven on earth. The staff went beyond to help us, they got our laundry done for us, called taxis for us ,had suggestions of where to go ,and had the most amazingly breakfast. Our room was kept spotless and the pool is wonderful to take a dip in a few times a day. The gardens and landscaping are gorgeous. We would love to go back.

The cleanliness could be better for the shower we were in cause there was mold on the line parts. It was in a great area and breakfast was good! The rooms were clean. Overall, it was great, not the best though. I would potentially stay here again.

Beautiful Thai toutistical decor . Grounds included koi ponds and bountiful orchids, Thai sculptures and gorgeous gardens. There was a mini- Buddhist temple and owners collectible museum . Service humble and efficient . Breakfast buffet alone (included) worth the price of the room . Great value . Awesome place. Will return for sure . This feels like a traditional and authentic place to stay in Chiang Mai. The rooms are big and have everything you need. The breakfast is really decent at this price point and the staff were brilliant - very friendly and helpful. It maybe could do with a little updating but it does have some charm about it and even a little museum inside. Really well located - everything to see and do in the city is walkable from here and there are restaurants, 7-11 and laundry places nearby.

We had the best stay at Kodchasri. The property is beautiful!!! Our room was clean and spacious with a gorgeous balcony that led to the back garden area.

The breakfast buffet was delicious and the service was wonderful. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive.

The location is perfect for staying in the Old city. We walked everywhere with zero issues - bonus, the coffee shops right next door to the hotel are delicious!

Only complaint was that the bed was quite firm for our liking, but we understand this is pretty typical for Thai beds.

Overall we had a wonderful stay here and would love the opportunity to come back again! Very relaxing, peaceful vibe.

Great hotel in an excellent location. It was less than an 10 minute walk to the Sunday night market. Lots of cafes/ restaurants in the vicinity. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a good choice of items for breakfast, including an egg station, and different items every day. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. Our only disappointment was that the pools were freezing, we couldn’t enjoy a swim they were so cold.

The property is pretty worn down. The lobby in desperate need of proper housekeeping. The rooms are also dated they don’t even have a luggage desk to put your luggage. There were mosquitoes in the room even thought the windows were constantly closed. Pretty sure we could find better places to stay. No elevator to the top floor. Had to call the front desk for assistance with luggage.The person from the front desk who helped bring down the luggage was very helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at this charming Hotel. The property was older, but in very good condition and it was located in a wonderful location close to monasteries, night market, and the river. The staff was attentive. There was no elevator, but the Porter carried up our luggage to our second floor room. We would recommend this hotel to folks traveling to Chiang Mai.

The hotel is medium sized but very good hotel. Good values for money. The location is very good, walking distance to the Sunday Night Bazaar. There are plenty restaurants, massage shops, money exchange, laundry shops, 7Eleven etc. nearby. Rooms are good sized with sufficient storage space and good lighting. The mattress and pillows are comfortable. The bathroom is medium sized, there is a good supply of toiletries. The shower hot water pressure is not stable making controlling the temperature a bit difficult. The room, actually the whole hotel is furnished with antique wooden furniture, which is admirable. There is a small pool in the middle courtyard, with no temperature control, so not useable in winter months. There is a small gym. The breakfast is mainly Asian, but there is an egg station with three types of cooked eggs. The staff are very courteous, friendly and helpful. The hotel is definitely worth a second visit.

Stayed at this property during the humid season of the year (June-July). Lovely and beautiful property. The staff was most wonderful and accommodating; loved the hospitality and kindness from everyone we encountered. Breakfast was delicious and offered a good selection from toast to fried rice and curry. 3 blocks from a huge night market so it’s affordable to find dinner. The neighbors and areas within 2 blocks of the property felt sketchy at night, but once you get to the main road, it felt better.

The only complaints I have are rather light. Firstly, there was a cricket in our room (ceiling/filter) that kept chirping for hours; sounded like it was right next to my pillow. Secondly, the AC cooled from 30 degrees Celsius to 25 Celsius after running all night; I personally like to sleep closer to 21-22 Celsius so I kept waking up from overheating. And lastly, the beds were quite firm, could use a pillow topper to help my sciatica, but for those who prefer a firm bed, it may be perfect for you.

Bathrooms were clean, they provided Singha glass bottled water for brushing teeth and Singha glass bottled water for drinking.

We chose this hotel because it was in the old city. Our hopes for its location were more than met, with all the city sites within walking distance. The hotel itself was extremely comfortable with our room overlooking the rear courtyard but close to the refreshing swimming pool. A real haven at the end of a hot day. All the staff were very friendly and attentive and went out of their way with dining suggestions and accommodating our early departure. Dining options were plentiful nearby which made up for the lack of a restaurant. We would come again very happily.

This is a beautiful property and we loved our time here. The carvings, artwork, bedroom decor and design are stunning. There is a large pool, fitness centre, and breakfast is included. The team are very friendly, professional and helpful. It was evident that they all take pride in their workplace as we never saw anything out of place or needing attention.
It is located in the ‘Old City’ so it’s within walking distance of the markets - easy to find lunch/dinner options as well as laundromats and other conveniences. My only criticism is the very firm bed, my partner was okay with it but I found it too hard. Other than that, we really enjoyed our 2 nights here and would love to return.

This property has great gardens and facilities reminiscent of grand hotels of a bygone era. The decor and quaint features make this a special experience over and above what we have experience elsewhere in Thailand. The staff are both professional and super friendly. The rooms are spacious and grand. The hotel is very well located for a short walk or ride to many attractions. There are many amenities close by including restaurants by the dozen, laundry, bike and car rental etc. The hotel prices are very low and represent great value for money. The manager is both well spoken and helpful, a great asset to the hotel.

A hidden gem in old Chiang Mai

The Kodchasri Thani Hotel located in Chiang Mai’s old walled city is a gem. Its architecture harkens back to the Franco-Thai style of the early 1900s but is so well maintained that it appears almost new. As one who lived in Bangkok and Chiang Mai for extended periods from the mid-1970s through the 1980s and who has made extended visits to both cities many times, I chose to stay at the hotel for nearly three weeks due primarily to its evocative memories of Chiang Mai’s more peaceful past. The hotel itself is literally an island of tranquility in today’s expanding city, yet within walking distance or short taxi rides of its many tourist sites and restaurants.
On approaching the hotel, one sees the character of its period architecture but on entering might be somewhat disappointed by the plainness of its reception area. Don’t be fooled: once you pass by reception you are met with an extremely well-maintained tropical garden cooled by circulating water in a narrow pool. Moving further towards the wings housing the majority of its rooms and the hotel’s new and rapid three floor elevator, there is an expansive sheltered resting area bordered and cooled on three sides by a large koi pond. The rooms themselves are relatively large and well-maintained by a conscientious housekeeping staff. The restaurant offers a good quality breakfast of salads, yoghurt, omelets and Asian food and inside or poolside dining.The breakfast staff is polite and attentive, as is the reception staff.

Loved this hotel! It is ran so well and is gorgeous. The staff was so personable and friendly. We were happy to be able to book 2 rooms on very late notice and it turning out to be a nice hotel! The building itself looks like a blend of traditional Thai styles with the amazing woodwork and modern amenities. The pool area is a great place to eat and hang out. Regarding the room, it was large, clean, and the bed was comfortable. We had a view of the pool area and were able to open the window for some fresh air. The breakfast was also delicious. They switch-up the main dishes daily (noodles on day, fried chicken, etc.) and one of the days the Dragonfruit was so perfectly fresh and ripe.

Minor qualms were that were was not an elevator to our room (there is an elevator for the other building though, but our room is used for 'overflow' times). Also, there is thumping bass from the nearby club until 2am, which not much can be done about. With the AC on, you can't really hear it though. I like having a fresh towel everyday, but know it's bad for the environment. If there was an option to keep housecleaning from switching out after a single-use that would be great.

Perfection at all levels

Not enough words to describe the staff of this facility. From the moment I checked in to the last minute i checked out, they were exceptional. The hotel itself is a prefect place to spend a few fun days. Rooms are spacious, very clean and tastefully designed.
