The staff seemed unbothered and unwilling to help. We weren’t even able to get a bus boy to help with our luggages both during check in and check out. They advertise the pool but it was closed off multiple times during our stay for ‘individual guest events’

The room was in not good condition but it was big enough. At check in instead of family suit they gave us Executive suit and added one bed. Generally hotel is very old. Needs to be rinnovated. But the location of the hotel is nice. The staff is very helpful.

This hotel is the worst I've ever seen. The room smells awful, the bathroom walls are covered in grime, the bathtub is disgusting and so filthy you risk catching fungus on your feet, the room service is the worst in the world—it takes three hours for a towel to arrive, and in the end, you have to go get it from reception. The bathroom mirror is stained from age, and the carpets are disgusting and smelly. I absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel. Don't be fooled by the stars; it doesn't deserve a single star. This hotel is the absolute worst.

Stay away from this hotel if you're black.Sorry to say that but it felt like racism to me.From the front desk to the security they lack professionalism.They looked at us with such a disgust and looked so annoyed every time we tried to ask something.I have never , in my entire life, been treated so poorly.There's no hot water, the room is outdated. It took them more than 2hrs to provide us with the iron we requested to press our clothes.When we were checking out , they refused to help us with our luggage.The security guy was literally standing there and watched us while we were struggling to load our bags. Our driver was speechless after he saw happened. I will never go back there or refer them never!! I wish I could rate them -10 star

It is a tired looking hotel.
Our aircon didnt work properly nor did our TV.
We were only supplied with one towel and one cup for a 3 person room..There was no shower curtain and it was dirty in behind the bed when going to charge our phone. Thebfront desk.staff were overwhelmed as only one person on.
It was disappointing.

Very old property. Super busy because of location and multiple night clubs inside the hotel. Elevator waiting time too long. Underground parking is a joke. Impossible to drive into the parking and every time someone has to inform the staff in the lobby so security opens the door for the parking. Having said that staff were lovely and kind.

Thw hotel name is Grand but nothing grand about this terrible hotel. Carpet and room smells diety. In 3 days stay we have to keep on complaining whole of our trip went in hotel staff fixing. Shame for hotels.com to advertise such patheic hotel which is not upto standard. Stay away for family

To be honest i booked this hotel me my wife and my child 6 years old I been booked 2 bed king bed but i was reach there they give me 2 single bed and they ask me to buy another bed for 200 dirham if you convert it’s cost £44.5 a night I ask why they said what did you get online it’s not right this is business in Dubai and I was up set and I have no choice because I can’t afford that money after I share the bed my son this is my worst 3 nights in dubai

I want to start by saying that this was booked by Expedia and was meant to be with breakfast which I paid extra for but when the confirmation came it was without breakfast. It definitely did not mention that it was 3PM check in time because had I known this prior to my arrival I would not have booked this property. Our flight was an early morning one and when we arrived they told us that we couldn’t check in until 3PM nor did they have “any available rooms” that we could purchase even though we should have been a complimentary one seeing as we were leaving at midnight the night we was leaving. The staff did not care that we had just got off a flight and made us sit in the waiting area for number of hours before we finally got our room. They wouldn’t declare the difference in price for with or without breakfast and had no idea how it could have happened. There was many other people in similar situations as a lot of them were in the waiting area.. check out time is also early so need to bear that in mind. Room card kept not working so daily had to go downstairs to make it work again. Terrible experience not sure how this is a 4* hotel.

What you see on Expedia's website is not it! It's a low budget hotel with very dirty room's and bathrooms. You would have call multiple times for the cleaning and for clean cups! No it's nothing to write about and they do not use Expedia! Expedia is a thief!!

Not impressed at all with the service at this hotel. Alot of the staff were definitely not attentive nor concerned with the service provisioned. Facilities aged and poorly kept. Currency exchange non existneent - told no cash! Worst, very noisy into earlly hour's and on last night what sounded like a massive riot occurred around 4 am. Never bothered to ask as staff didnt care much on arrival.

Location was good. Bed was comfortable. Reception has no idea what is going on. They asked me to pay them when I was checking out. I said I booked through Expedia and showed confirmation but they still insisted that they have not received payment and I should follow up with Expedia. The staff has no idea what's going on. I'm still here and they are trying to figure out their payment.

Checking in staff needs more training. Front desk is a mix bag of tight and wrong information. Poor communication between staff. Staff do make up statements to cover up lack of info. Poor organisation at breakfast hall. No one guides you to a table. Once you get up to get more food your seat will go. There is no one to organise the chaos. I found staff just standing there not bothered.
Most rooms needs updating.
Good locations very courteous door staff.

Very good relation of price and what you get. The hotel gives the feel of a five star in many aspects. What I particularly like is the sleep quality. I had problems in some other hotels in Dubai with the air condition blowing right onto my bed (and body), which makes me sick. In this one I never have this problem. And I sleep very well here.

Comfortable stay overnight. It was the Eid holiday so the bar was not serving any beer. The refridgerators were not very good and a bit slow at chilling any drinks. Bathroom and shower good and the bed was very comfortable.

Terrible experience

When I got to the hotel after a long flight I found out that the air conditioning was off although it was 40 degrees outside
I then switched it on only to find out that it was faulty
The engineer cane to fix it but all night I could not sleep as the air conditioning was not working still
I complained to the manager on the following morning but there was no apology nor did they refund my money

Very friendly and professional staff, huge bed and I'm 6'4. The ensuite bathroom was really big but could do with a deep clean around the tub and a lick of paint.

I would hundred percent stay there again and recommend it to other travelers.

I very much enjoyed my 4-night stay at the Grand Excelsior. The hotel is in a good location, well known to taxi drivers and only a 10-15 minute walk from a metro station. The Concierge and Front Desk were extremely helpful and there is a splendid breakfast on offer. I attend an annual event in the World Trade Centre, and have every intention of returning to the Grand Excelsior next year.

An unfortunate choice of hotel

The hotel itself is nice. Clean, comfortable. The location of the hotel is the issue (at least for me). It's on the flightpath to Dubai airport and 24/7 there are airplanes flying no more than 500 feet over the hotel. The rooms are soundproof so it dampens considerably the noise; however, the pool is a rooftop one (and bears little resemblance to the photos) so you get the full brunt of an A380's 4 engines as it flies a couple of 100 feet over you (relaxing its not).

The nightclub next door has music every night until 3am. Again, the soundproofing dampens a lot of the noise but you can still hear the boom boom boom!!

There is nothing the hotel can do about it. It's entirely my own doing for not properly researching before I left. Anyway, if the above doesn't put you off, then I would recommend it especially if you like Indian food as there a loads of good non touristy restaurants within walking distance. I never once paid more than £10 for a really good meal.

way over priced drinks £6 for a coke beers ranging from £10 a pint to £16 a pint (bottled beers) food is about the right price it is best to book packages rather than pay on the day staff are very helpful though, on a very poor note smoking is permitted in bars so when you get back to your room you will smell like an ash tray like it or not . Premiership football and champions league are shown in the sports bar but the satellite / cable channels in the rooms are a waste of time only bbc news 24 for uk viewers no pay per view available in rooms airport shuttle is 95 AED were a taxi is 25 AED overall a nice hotel its a little dated but comfortable. Meal packages are on a buffet basis you do get a varied selection at every sitting we had no issues with the food offered. The curries are very good but a bit on the spicy side. If you are thinking of hiring a car good luck you will need it the standard of driving is very poor my advice is stick to the taxis and just hold on.

Actually a good hotel at a reasonable price

I have been there for almost a month. I came to really like the staff and they were very helpful. The Manager for the reservations was able to accommodate all my requests, and the reception was good, and the staff in the lobby were also on the ball and helping out in things. The room comfort is really good and especially I was happy with the beds. Very nice to sleep in. The location is very close to the airport and one can reach Sharjah, Dubai Downtown, Airport, all in a short time. The surroundings are not so great, but one has a big supermarket, cheap food, and pretty much everything one needs to walking distance. If you don't want to spend the price of a nifty 5star luxury, this one has pretty much all one needs in a good standard, and one can afford to stay for a month without going broke.
