Room was very dated. One of the two beds had a problem with the frame and was not level. The shower was a nightmare as you have to press up against the wall to get properly under the water.

Lobby is great and the best part about the stay. Most of the service was good, but they are extremely understaffed and when they get busy expect a wait of up to 30 minutes to be able to speak to someone at the front desk.

Check in was very slow. My room develop a severe leak in the bathroom ceiling but they were very helpful and quick to move me into a different (slightly upgraded) room which I appreciated. The bed was large and comfortable. It was well placed for Madrid Train station which was why I booked it. A short less than 10 minutes walk. I ate in the restaurant too which was pretty mediocre. Breakfast was fine, usual hotel buffet options. But the breakfast room is very noisy! If you want a calm start to your day go for breakfast elsewhere.

For the price paid, ~200 euro a night the service and quality was dismal. This is the first hotel I visited ever that had no coffee machine in the room - they wanted extra charge for that. They didnt offer even a minute of early checkin even after telling them we just flew internationally. Then the room was the most basic, claimed to give me city views but all it had was windows opening to inside of the building which was gloomy. The room itself was cramped and this looked more like a hostel than a proper hotel.

To be avoided.

We had an overnight flight from the US, so we arrived long before check-in, but they gave us a room right away. It was reasonably sized, exceptionally well maintained, and the bathroom had a full-size extra-deep tub. The staff was also very helpful.

The hotel staff is nice. Though well-located for walking to some of Madrid’s famous touristic draws, as well as the train and metro stations, current construction made the trek a little unpleasant. It worked for me as a two-night stopover but I probably wouldn’t book again

Improved? When I leave dirty dishes out and they are not taken seaway for the 5 days I am there??? And I have to go to the front desk NOT once but twice to ask for new glasses and coffee cups? We were drinking out of 3 oz paper cups for the duration of the trip?

Shocking - do not stay at this hotel.

I stayed Friday 12th, through Monday 15th. On Sunday, while we were out, someone accessed our room with a key and stole a credit card [which they tried to use less than a mile from the hotel].

When I informed the staff, all I was told was, wait for the manager in the morning. When I went to find the manager next morning he was not there but left a message to report to the police. No other help offered.

This theft was clearly managed by someone accessing the room with a key, not a break in. The managers response of 'report it to the police' [and no other advice or assistance] was terrible customer service.

We were robbed on their premises and no one cared or helped at all. I wonder if this is how they would like to be treat if this happened to them when staying in a hotel in a foreign country.

Shocking - do not stay at this hotel.

The room bathroom had sewage odor, we tried to rinse the bidet next to the toilet with hot water and close it, then the odor is gone, but came back after next day !!!! From our room, we can hear people talking in the next room, it was so noisy.

We thought this was a very nice clean hotel. The room and bathroom were a good size. The breakfast buffet was good, not great. The maître d was not friendly at all. The only problem we had was our key cards stopped working and we had to wait in line to get new ones. Most importantly after staying in two previous hotels where the A/C barely cooled, the AC worked great!

The room was a good size but there were not enough plugs. Also, the main light switch is concealed by the pillows, that took me a while to figure out. There is also a lot of street construction going on which is not noted on the website and makes for a difficult walk to Atocha train station.

Great value for money. Walkable from Retiro Park and very close to Atocha Metro station which is a couple of stops away from the city center. The room was clean and spacious. Loved the bathroom utilities.

My only feedback is that my wife was sick as she is pregnant so we were a few minutes late for breakfast. We understand that we could not be served in the cafeteria however requested if we could takeaway some readymade breakfast items at least but were told no.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay while in Madrid. The hotel staff were so helpful in storage our luggage before check in. The room was clean, and big enough for my son and I. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Atocha station, and about 5 minutes walk to the Menéndez Pelayo metro station.
All in all, if we are in Madrid again, I would absolutely stay here again.

Great breakfast, would highly recommend for its variety of options. If you're American and expect crispy bacon, you may be a little disappointed, but it's still delicious. I did sample most of everything over 2 days. Love the thick hot chocolate.

Very close to many great sightseeing places and close to Atocha station.

Amenities wise: be patient as the elevator is very slow, and in room hair dryer overheats and shuts off way too fast (45seconds).

The hotel is walkable from Atocha Station and Metro stops, but furthe away from the centre of Madrid. The rooms are ok but basic and with little soundproofing. The front desk staff appeared to be overworked and rushed. The hotel seems to focus mainlly on catering for tour groups.

I chose this hotel based on price and the “4 stars” description. While the location is great, and the lobby was well taken care of, very nice. The hotel room was absolutely terrible. The bed was basically a U shape (sunk in the middle) the shower glass I’m sure it has mold, and the walls of the room seemed to have some sort of leak or humidity problem since the wallpaper was coming off.
If I would’ve known these things, i would’ve spent a bit more (maybe $30 more?) to stay in an actual 4 stars hotel. (Plenty in the area). I didn’t ask for a room change since I was there only for a night.
As per the staff, they did their job.

The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located near Atocha Train station, el Parque Retiro, El Prado and only a few metro stops from Sol and other tourist attactions. The breakfast is a large buffet and at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This was my second time in this hotel, so can only repeat my first review really - very helpful staff, excellent location (very close to Atocha rail station and several key underground stations). As I was out very early I did not book breakfast so cannot comment on that aspect.

One footnote, though, and this is not a reflection on the hotel itself but worth knowing: this time round the room was on 5th floor and guests on both sides of my room had been making \"conversation\" loudly until almost 1AM - so make sure you pack ear plugs, but even with those I found it impossible to sleep until the \"discussions\" at insane volume died down (and in totally ignorant fashion - they were either hearing-impaired or just completely ignorant of being in a hotel...).
It seems that even in 4-star hotel one can easily find people who behave as if they never stayed in a hotel.

Tastefully decorated hotel with a classic, midcentury vibe. Our room was furnihsed with an enormous firm bed. No outside noise or any other disturbances. The bathroom was had modern amenities. The staff--all handsome young men--comported themselves professionally. And excellent cafes are just a couple of blocks away. You should stay here.

City break in Madrid

We arrived on the day of the Spanish power cuts and the staff dealt with the situation very well and with good humour. Hotel is in good location for railway station, city centre and Retiro Park (which is a great space to relax in after a day sightseeing). Didn’t use the on sight cafeteria but the hotel was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend for a city break in Madrid.

The front desk staff were excellent. The hotel itself is a bit dated- the rooms have old furniture. Furthermore, the walls are very thin, and I was able to hear middle-aged Spanish speaking women getting drunk on cheap wine.

This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff, unfortunately a leak from the top floor impacted our stay as we came back from a day of touring and our bathroom was flooded. An offer of a reduction in our stay or a credit at the cafeteria attached would have been nice. The maintenance staff were quick to respond and were very polite.

This hotel is conveniently located near several points of interest, especially the Atocha train station. The hotel is on a corner which makes it easy to grab a taxi. We walked 10 minutes to Prado Museum. The room was quite comfortable for 4 people. We stayed overnight to grab the train so it was perfect!

Overall experience at the hotel is good, convenient to major tourists sites. I do wish I had warning that I would have a windowless room in the process of checking in. It was a sup to find out the window in my room feels fake, you can’t see sky and it is dark all the time.

Not good place, I wouldn’t recommend it, my room wasn’t made one day, the wi-do was cut off before I left and I had to go to a coffee shop to get a meeting done and I think the kitchen exhaust pumped into my room as I woke up everyday to the smell of onions and garlic in the room

During our 2 weeks of vacation in Spain, we stayed at 4 different hotels in various cities. Unfortunately this hotel left us with a very unpleasant experience. This hotel has poor, very slow Wi-Fi. Upon check in, we found hair clumps on the floor, shower tub wall tiles had black clumps of mold. Unlike other hotels we stayed at, this hotel does not provide free bottles of water daily or security box. You need to deposit 15 euro to get the security box key which is refunded back to you after check out. Bath towels are sand-paper quality and worn out and there’s no small hand towels. Bathroom has constant sewer odor that stayed duration of our stay even though we sprayed the bathroom with perfume spray. We definitely will not come back to this hotel and do not recommend it to anyone if you want to have a pleasant hotel stay in Madrid. One positive note is that it is short walking distance to Atocha train station, Prado museum and Retiro park.
