Never Disappoints – A Gem in the Heart of Beaune

We’ve stayed at the Cep many times and it never lets us down. The welcome is always so friendly, the location couldn’t be better right in the heart of Beaune, and having secure parking is a real bonus. The rooms are always comfortable, which makes it feel like coming back to a favourite place.

Decor has seen better days - I believe faded grandeur is the term. We were apparently given an upgraded room, which begs the question what from. Hotel is dark and dingy inside. However plus points are its centrality, reserved spaces outside for drop-offs and pick-ups, valet parking (extra, and needs to be pre-booked) and excellent breakfasts (EUR25/person).

Such a wonderful hotel conveniently located in the middle of the historic area of Beaune. Lots of dining choices nearby and easy to get out of the town to go exploring nearby vineyards. We used the parking lot and never had an issue getting the car out.

Hotel Le Cep is a beautiful modernized hotel with classic, old world charm. I found the staff to be highly professional as well as genuinely engaging and personable. They go out of their way to accommodate your needs and offer their assistance. I agree with other reviews….be sure not to miss breakfast in the courtyard! The restaurant next door is also noteworthy….Michelin starred…..and the menu includes the best escargot I’ve ever had as well as an outstanding selection of area cheeses, Grand Cru wines, and delightful desserts….each sure to add to your exceptional and memorable dining experience.
Le Cep Hotel & Spa is definitely a jewel in the Burgundy crown.Treat yourself to a stay you’ll always remember!

3 days in Burgundy

Overall we liked the hotel. Used it as a home base for wine country exploration, and stayed three nights mid-week. Super friendly staff. They went out of their way to be helpful - making dinner reservations, suggesting things to do, overall service, etc. Great breakfast offerings. Only two minuses for us. The mattress was past its useful life - was flat and hard. So after a long day of walking about, a more comfortable bed would have been better. Also, the street is quiet at night, until it's not. To our surprise given the mid-week stay, we had moments of loud noise outside the window. Whether it be revelers walking down the street, a motor cyclist deciding to rev the engine at 2 am, or sanitation workers doing their job, these momentary outbursts were enough to disturb your rest. So if you are a light sleeper, you may want to consider where your room is located. Perhaps there are other rooms in the place where this is not an issue.

The room was large and nicely decorated. After coming from Paris, this quaint town and chill was just what my husband and I needed. We loved the staff and arrangements they made for our dinners and bike tour. Adrien was extremely engaging and provided excellent service. As far as the accommodations themselves, We stayed in room 128 which is in a building that is attached to the main hotel. Elevator to reach it is a little funky, with a double ride to the room, but as long as you aren't carrying a heavy load, you can simply use the stairs. We could hear the people above us talking and the floor creaked when they walked, but I guess when structures were built hundreds of years ago, sound proofing wasn't a thought. Overall, it was great!

After our reserved taxi service failed to show up on time the hotel provided two private vehicles (belonging to senior management) and drivers to get the six of us to the train station in time for our train to Paris. Outstanding over and above service!!

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff is exceptional and so helpful. The rooms are just beautiful. I had to make a last minute trip to Zurich and the gentleman at the front desk mapped out the trains for me and even got me tickets. 5 Star for sure and can’t wait to return

The staff were fantastic. Nothing was a problem. Sourcing a restaurant, lending a back brace to my injured husband, helping us use the coffee machine in the room. So friendly and polite. The hotel is truly charming. Brilliantly located for shopping dining and entertainment.

The first night there was a terrible perfume odor in my room which triggered a migraine. I did not sleep all night. We asked to move rooms and the new room had no odor but we asked for the A/C to be put on and when we returned 3 hours later the room was over 85 degrees. We turned off what was the air conditioning later to be told there was no A/C since it was october but the bellman had put on the heat. We asked for someone to come up. No one would. Finally a kind bellman came with 2 fans and this helped. The second room was on the second floor-no elevator which was fine but the stairwell had no automatic lighting so if you did not see the switch it was dark at night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and it should not be a 5 star hotel.

Charming old building and great central location in Beaune. The staff couldn't have been nicer however the hotel could use some updating. The gym such as it was was in an attic room about 5' big after climbing multiple stairways to reach it (a better workout then the machines available!) and my pillows in my room were awful and giving me a stiff neck.

A perfect gem

An absolute gem in the centre of Beaune. On site valet parking if you so desire. Fantastic in every way. Beautiful maze of buildings. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for dinner during February but so many bars and restaurants close by. Breakfast was superb. The only thing missing for me was tea making facilities in our very lovely room.

The hotel and the staff are unbelievable! Our room was lovely with a little balcony and table outside. I cannot say enough about the level of service and attention to detail from the staff. There were available for anything and everything we could have asked for. We have stayed at some amazing hotels and I have to say hands down Hotel Le Cep has the most amazing staff and service level I have ever seen. Thank you for a making our visit to Burgundy amazing! If you are visiting Beaune a stay at Hotel Le Cep is a must!

Location, location, location is key for this hotel. The courtyard is splendid. This very rustic hotel has modern and updated rooms, we just didn't get one. I don't know because of the room type we selected was the reason for the not updated room, but overall, the hotel was good with friendly staff members.

Charming Hotel in the Town Centre

A charming hotel in the middle of Beaune. The location is great and staff very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately, Sebastien their sommelier which does excellent wine tastings, or so we have heard, was out of town for the four days we were there. In exchange, the staff helped us organise a full day wine tour last minute, which we highly recommend (Safari Tours).

The only downside is that the hotel is a bit dated. The shower head fell off when in use, the music system in the room is compatible with an iPhone 4 but not newer versions and there is no area to make tea or coffee. Small suggestions for improvement.

However, all in all a great stay.

The staff were extremely helpful beforehand in booking a restaurant and during our stay, our room was quiet and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Parking behind the hotel was convenient and all sights are very close by.

Had a very nice stay after booking a spontaneous weekend in Beaune/Burgundy.

The stand out was the service. Overall it was really excellent, we got great help with bike rentals, restaurant booking and speedy ironing service and any other queries we had.

Further, we had booked a private wine tasting in the hotel cellar. Would strongly recommend this as it provided an excellent opportunity for us to learn more, ask all the questions and get a more unbiased view on what to look for around Burgundy. Clearly the sommelier Sebastian was very passionate and this really shines through in the experience

Only slight negative we had was the overall feel of the room. It is a very old hotel and it can be noticed, basic rooms are due a refurbishment. For us this was not an issue, but if you are expecting a large room with modern appliances etc you will be disappointed (they do warn of this when booking the basic room). We felt service, location and overall hotel facilities more than made up for this

Lovely stay in Beaune!

Our stay at Hotel Le Cep was very nice. The staff was very professional and always willing to help; to mention a few, Helene at the front desk, Theo (Valet and Bellman), Mark and all the other bartenders!!! The location is perfect, within walking distance of restaurants, shops and historical sites. The only issue we had was the noise that we dealt with each morning. We were in room 003 which unfortunately is next to some type of closet, meeting room for the staff and guest storage. Because the room is in a courtyard management should post signage to workers and guests that a guest room is nearby. If we had known that we would be awaken early every morning we would have asked for a different room. The breakfast was very nice! Overall, Hotel Le Cep is a lovely place to stay!

Great hotel and I will stay there again. What I enjoyed about it others might not e.g. Slightly dated rooms, maze like corridors.
There was confusion about my booking. I thought I reserved a table at the hotel's restaurant only to find it closed on Sundays and Mondays. Hotel provided an excellent recommendation only a few minutes walk away, so all OK.

Charming welcome and friendly staff happy to help. In particular we bought quite a lot of wine which the hotel happily stored for us and then loaded into our car. Much appreciated! Outstanding standard of cleanliness in both our room and the common areas. Couldn’t fault it all! Anyone who knows Beaune will already be aware that it is a traffic nightmare (it is medieval after all). Therefore dedicated valet parking immediately outside the hotel is simply fantastic. Before we had even opened our car doors a member of staff was on hand to assist us and take our car away to the onsite parking (a very reasonable €21/day). The hotel is lavishly but beautifully furnished in contrasting styles which simply add to its atmosphere and attraction. It’s about as far away as you can get from the “corporate look”. The walls are festooned with interesting artefacts and pictures relevant to Beaune and the hotel. You could happily while away 30 minutes or so just admiring these.Our room was spacious and lovely and very well equipped. Full marks for the understated but lovely toiletries and fluffy bathrobes! The A/C was perfect! The Hotel’s location could not be better. Just around the corner from the Hospice and many wine shops and restaurants. There is also a Spa but we sadly didn't get to this. Fab bed, peace and quiet so an excellent night.

This is a beautiful hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are uniquely decorated featuring beautiful pieces of antique design. Our room had an outside terrace which added to its charm. There is parking available in the hotel’s private lot.

This was such a luxurious yet comfortable hotel. The staff was so attentive and friendly. The rooms are spacious, quiet and decorated in French style with lovely modern bathrooms. The garden terrace was a delight for breakfast though there were several choices of venue. Breakfast was delicious! It is right in the middle of Beaune but has ample gated parking. We loved our stay!

Enchanting hotel near Centre.

Third stay at this lovely hotel. Room ruined by annoying step of 5cm between bedroom and bathroom. Bruised and toes account for low rating!
