This is a fabulous little jewel of a hotel. It is lovely, charming, the hosts and staff are great and the breakfasts were too notch. Highly recommended boutique hotel! Note that there is no elevator but they will cary your bags up.

First of all the hotel has turned a historic building into stunning rooms and spaces. Every detail has been thoroughly and artfully applied. The rooms are spotless and have a beautiful fusion of history meets modern comfort. Additionally the staff is amazing--so friendly and attentive.

One of the coolest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The lobby/bar is like a movie. No elevator but who cares. The property is in amazing.

The hotel is stunningly beautiful. MANY stairs. Not at all accessible for anyone unable to walk. Pool is lovely. We were provided with robes and slippers to wear down. The wine bar has a good selection with varying prices. We had the Santenay, Grand Cru. Staff were extremely polite and professional and spoke English. Parking was on the street a short walk from L’Abbaye.

Delicious omlettes made to order, croissants, cheese, fruit, fresh squeezed juice and one of the few places I could get my own carafe full of “American drip coffee”. A unique and memorable stay at an abbey full of historic charm. Excellent service and hospitality. The room decor is tastefully done and comfortable, good AC for the summer. The master bedroom patio door contains an automated security panel to block sunlight. The breakfast in the lobby is the highlight, love the pain au chocolat and especially the ham.

What a BEAUTIFUL experience! Staff were lovely, my room was amazing, the little pool was perfect (but really deep for me; I’m 4’10” and I couldn’t touch the bottom), the location was easy to get to from train station and I could see the bell tower of the Notre Dame basilica from my opened stained glass window. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The hotel is a gorgeously renovated abbey on the edge of the old town center of Beaune. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Betty we felt welcome and relaxed. The room was spacious and elegant. The subterranean pool was a favorite feature to me, quiet and relaxing. Breakfast, which was served in a beautiful room by kind and attentive people, was delicious, with buffet items and eggs served to order. We enjoyed a wonderful stay. The facility is awe inspiring and the people who run the hotel were extremely welcoming. This is a very special hotel.

This property was stunning. It felt like you were staying in a castle, just like the pictures. Staff was super helpful. Breakfast was great. There are a lot of stairs so definitely be prepared for that (even in the room the bed was a loft situation). There is lots of free parking within a 10 minute walk. Tons of food and wine bars within walking distance. Highly recommend!

This abbey is historic. The lobby is like a catacomb. My room had a view of the nearby cathedral and the town of Beaune. The staff is super helpful. Breakfast is very good. There is a small pool although it's too short to swim laps and too deep to relax in. It's in the heart of Beaune do I could walk everywhere.

What an amazing hotel, from the lobby to the room the place was beautiful. Was a treat to be able to stay in such an old and beautifully restored building. Staff was very kind and booked us a few activities for the day. We had an amazing stay.

We've wanted to stay here for a while, and on this trip it worked. We arrived very late (3 am, my fault) and the staff were perfectly OK about it because we had let them know. Our room was fantastic (Clos de Vougeot, well worth the upgrade) with a beautifully designed bathroom. Breakfast was good, although a little pricey. Pool is well worth a visit. Pet friendly.

The breakfast was wonderful and ours was included in the rate. The room was really nice and comfortable. Not much light, but really nice. A lot of stairs, just so people understand. This is a gorgeous 12th century hotel. Beautiful ambiance! Breakfast was included in the stay - the food was fabulous. The Staff was very friendly and willing to offer recommendations on where to eat. The only downside for some is there are no elevators. You need to carry your suitcase and walk up a steep circular stairs. The stairs are steep without the suitcase. But totally worth the ambiance of the hotel!

We picked Abbaye de Maizieres because it looked interesting. The experience far exceeded our expectations and our expectations were high. Great staff. . .very welcoming and helpful. Betty, Emilie and Thibault were each top notch. We knew they do not have an elevator, but that was not an impediment. . .they were very helpful on that count also. The breakfast was first class. . .we had never had a candlelight breakfast before. They helped with dinner reservations as well. The hotel was easily within walking distance of everything in Beaune. We certainly will return.

The stairway is challenging for someone in decent shape. However, the upper floor rooms are daunting. The room assigned as premium had a steep staircase to the bed. If one had to get up in the middle of the night, it is actually treacherous.

This is an amazing property. It HAS NO ELEVATOR! I was on the top (3) floor which over 60 steps up the original stone spiral staircase. I’m not going to lie; it’s a workout. The place is worth the sweat. Modern infused with Antiquity and a heated pool. (Might have been a tad too warm). Walking distance from the train station and to great shopping, dining, and attractions. The breakfast is made to order and we’ll executed. The staff is impeccable. They’re very knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. Great little wine bar downstairs too.

Beautiful and cozy renovation of a 12th century Abbey. We had a lovely large room with a king bed, beautiful bathroom and sitting area. Close to all attractions of the old town. Near the ram parts for strolling. Parking was a little difficult, we had to park two blocks away.

A lovely stay in a lovely hotel. Check in was a breeze and was shown to my room on the third floor. It is quite a walk up so was glad that he offered to carry my bag. I had a Deluxe Double Room which has even more stairs so be warned! I loved it, but if you have any mobility issues or do not have much stamina for stairs, do not stay on the third floor.
The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The lobby is spectacular as you are literally in a cellar of a 13th century abbey. The stonework and furnishings make you feel like you have traveled back in time.

A TRULEY INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! We travel frequently and this was one of the most memorable stays we have had in long time. Without a doubt the best stay on our 3 week road trip in France. The hotel is elegant, comfortable and filled with history. The level of hospitality we received form the manager Betty and the owner Emmanuelle was amazing. They made us feel like we were guests in there home. The Suite we stayed was comfortable, very nice bedding and decorated and furnished very elegantly. This is a 5 star hotel!

This is a beautiful old building and rooms have been nicely renovated. The staff are friednly and welcoming. The downside is the steep staircase you need to climb, which may be difficult for some travellers. We were also disturbed by the smell of incense or other perfume both in the lobby and in our room.

The hotel itself dates to the 12th century, and one feels transported back to another time. The lower level reception includes nice seating area, and tables for your candlelight breakfast set amidst stone arches and walls. A very interesting and unique atmosphere. A circular stone staircase led to our spacious modern room, with high ceilings, a very comfortable king bed, air conditioning and heat, refrigerator and a very nice modern bathroom with all the amenities. There is a small courtyard, where we enjoyed a bottle of wine in the fresh air. The rooms had nice black out shades, and were very quiet. Metered parking, free on Sundays, was very close and safe. The hotel is very convenient to the village of Beaune, with easy walking just moments to the village center, with shops, restaurants and cafes, the cathedral, many wine shops, bicycle rentals etc. We rented bikes one morning and had a nice ride in the vineyards where we enjoyed a picnic lunch, and also enjoyed an evening walk on the ramparts at one edge of the village. Breakfast was served each morning, with a variety of croissant, breads, crepes, fresh squeezed juice, eggs and meats, with lovely and attentive service by the hotel staff. All in all, very enjoyable for our two night stay in Beaune.

The old stone work has been lovingly restored and anything new sympathetically fitted in, including our bathroom. And the indoor swimming pool!

We were put on the top floor of the building and the heat was nearly unbearable, even in September. The room was like an oven. The beds were in a loft and the air conditioning vents were on the lower floor so - because hot air rises - there was essentially no air conditioning in the loft. The room was absolutely horrible. The receptionist didn't even ask if we had enjoyed the night the next morning when I paid the bill - I think she knew that she had put us in an oven-like room.

the rooms were clean and the lobby was authentically beautiful. my kids had fun in the pool. location was excellent in walking distance of all the sites. they set up a private wine tour for us that was very informative and tasty. we only wished that there was an elevator as the stairs are quite narrow and steep.

What a wonderful place this is. Twelfth century Abbey so well preserved and sympathetically turned into an exquisite hotel. Staff were very helpful. Only four tables for dinner so unfortunately could not eat in but receptionist very helpful in advising where to go. Central location and free public car park very close. Very disappointed not to be able to eat at the hotel; we asked nearly a week in advance only to be told the restaurant was fully booked. The room was not good at all: top floor, up three flights of spiral staircase (not easy with luggage) and the room was split in two. A tiny lower part with a small table and one upholstered high back chair, a fridge balanced on a stool and a hard chair. To go to bed there is a really steep wooden, open slat staircase - lethal. I caught my foot in the gap and gashed my instep. This is not an accessible hotel.
On the plus side, the beds were really comfortable with lovely linen, the bathroom was small but perfectly formed and Betty on reception in the morning was charming.
However, for the price paid the room really wasn't great.
