138 Liberdade Hotel was a good choice overall. It is very well located on a main shopping street, which makes it convenient for exploring the area. The room was clean and spacious, and the service was good throughout our stay. Breakfast was just okay, but the coffee, tea, and pastel de nata station was a lovely extra and a very nice bonus.

Staff were very kind and helpful, which was a pleasant surprise as I had read earlier reviews to the contrary. The room overlooking Avenida Liberdade was large and comfortable for two people. The hotel decor overall is dark, which is difficult for the eyes to adjust when it is sunny outside (most of the time) in Lisbon.

This hotel was not a good experience. The staff was not friendly and our checkin was very cold. We had to literally go outside to get to our hotel room. It was in a different building. And when we wanted to open our curtains in our room, the outdoor dining area was right there staring in at us.

The location of the 138 Liberdade is wonderful -- we could easily get to the metro, trams and many restaurants several museums and neighborhoods. The staff was amazing! they helped us find good places to see the sunset, great restaurants, and transportation options. They even provided ice for my sore foot! We really enjoyed our 5-night stay and would have loved to stay longer.

Live piano and violin during evening dinner period. Very clean. Food quality good. Breakfast buffet was great. Access to metro within 100 metres. Weather was too cool for the outside terrace area. Fitness room is spartan. Room was as expected. Overall, it meets its 5-star rating. Would stay there again.

We had a great stay here. The location is super convenient and made it easy to get around. The staff were very helpful and accommodating throughout our visit, which we really appreciated.

The room itself was comfortable and well-kept. The only thing to note is that some of the rooms on the upper floors facing the street have windows placed very high up on the wall, so you don’t get much of a view. This wasn’t a big issue for us since we were out exploring most of the time, but if you’re someone who enjoys spending time in the room and wants a view, it’s something to consider.

Overall, a pleasant stay and great service in a very accessible location.

The hotel is conveiniently located on the upscale Liberdade avenue with many of the Lisbon attractions located within walking distance. We found all the staff to be friendly and forthcoming. Special thanks to Ines (inez?) at the front desk for helping to pay my parking ticket using her personal phone. The included breakfast was good and offered a wide variety of treats. Our room was nice with two fairly large windows facing the lively street but without letting in any noise.

We thought that the interior was a bit too dark with so much black color being applied everywhere.

We would stay at 138 Liberdade again.

A Perfect Boutique Luxury Stay at 138 Liberdade

Our stay at 138 Liberdade was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. This beautiful boutique five-star property is set in the best neighborhood in Lisbon, right along a fabulous street filled with luxury shopping and dining. It’s the perfect blend of elegance and comfort.

The rooms were a very nice size, spotless, and refreshed daily with care. One of our favorite spots was the charming back patio ideal for afternoon cocktails, or simply enjoying the atmosphere. The fresh sushi made daily was an unexpected delight, and the stylish indoor bar with its piano created a wonderful ambiance for evenings.

What truly set this property apart was the service. The staff were warm, professional, and always ready to help whether making excellent dining recommendations and reservations, or assisting with transportation and logistics. Prior to our arrival, they even organized airport transfers and communicated via email to ensure every detail was taken care of.

As a luxury travel designer, I was especially impressed with the high level of attention and personalization throughout. This hotel exceeded expectations in every way, and I would highly recommend 138 Liberdade to anyone seeking a refined and memorable stay in Lisbon.

Avenida Liberdade is the main shopping area in Lisbon, and the 138 is in the heart of it. Everything about the hotel was perfect for us: front desk, the rest of the staff, the restaurant and the parking (since we were renting a car to drive to Barcelona). The room and the restaurant were great.

The location of 138 Liberdade is amazing. The gentleman at check-in was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, the noise from the hallways and other rooms made the stay challenging. Beyond that, the restaurant needs major attention at breakfast. The first day, we were presented with menus to order cooked items. The second day, no menus, lights off, coffee machine broken, and long waits to get coffee orders. The inconsistency was not only frustrating but also unprofessional. I would not consider the property 5 star as it needs significant improvements with regards to service and noise control.

This was such a wonderful place to stay! It certainly was in the fancier shopping district, but close to many areas. This is the Liberty district which has beautiful sidewalks and trees. I was so impressed! The breakfast was well worth it! Will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful hotel in a great location on Avenida de Liberdade. Great walking avenue, with lots of dining options, incredible shopping, very convenient to the Metro. Staff was very friendly (as is almost everyone from Portugal) and helpful. They made numerous arrangements for activities, all of which were top notch. We chose to be along the avenue, but if you don't like street noise, ask for a room off the street.

We loved our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. It’s in a gorgeous neighborhood across from the metro and walkable to a lot of attractions. I recently stayed at this hotel in Lisbon, and there were some highlights. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of a vibrant area with lots to explore. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making check-in a breeze.

However, I did encounter some significant issues. The corridors had a persistent, unpleasant smell that was quite off-putting. It seemed like the hotel was trying to mask it, but the result was just an overwhelming combination of odors.

I paid extra for a patio, hoping for a nice spot to relax, but it turned out to be right next to the HVAC system, which made it loud and uncomfortably hot. Additionally, there was a strong garbage smell coming from the basement, unfortunately close to the gym, so we couldn’t even use the facilities.

If you’re sensitive to odors, I would recommend considering another place. Even with a perfume shop inside the hotel trying to cover up the smells, it just made things worse. Overall, while the area and staff were great, the odor issues really impacted my experience.

From the moment we arrived at 138 Liberdade Hotel, we felt truly taken care of. The location couldn’t be better—right on the beautiful Avenida da Liberdade, making it easy to explore the city on foot and soak in Lisbon’s charm.

The staff here were simply incredible. Not only were they warm and welcoming, but they also went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. They even upgraded our room to better suit our needs, which made our trip feel extra special.

A special mention must go to the amazing bartender and the attentive waiter staff in the restaurant—they made every drink and meal feel like an experience, and their friendly service really stood out.

From start to finish, everything about our stay was seamless, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already planning our return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for exceptional service in the best location Lisbon has to offer.

Its in a great location for seeing Lisbon without being in the center of the old town. Everything about the hotel was very nice, but unfortunately there was a bad odor in the lobby and hallways. Not sure if that was a hotel issue or a sewage issue in the city. it was extremely hot in Lisbon for the 3 nights we were there (100 degrees!) so that may have affected that as well.
