Hotel Alegria is a charming small hotel very centrally located . The rooms are lovely with excellent bathrooms , nice sheets and towels which is always good sign ! The staff are very willing to help with any requests .
We enjoyed a 10 day stay here and this was my second visit so I can highly recommend . My only comment is that it would be lovely to have English breakfast tea available in the room - not just camomile and mint ! A very very small inconvenience ! Thank you for a delightful stay .

Staff were friendly and helpful about restaurants in the area. Great outdoor patio across the street with amazing wine and beer to wind down at night. Lovely neighborhood to explore. Walkable to all the things down in the higher tourism area but local charm in the area of the hotel. Room was clean, spacious and comfy. Really enjoyed our stay here

The staff were so friendly, gave us suggestions on things to do, places to see as the weather wasn’t the best. The room was always spotless, very traditional but with a modern twist. We loved the breakfast, there was plenty to choose from and they even cooked fresh omelettes upon request! Overall the hotel was small but charming, perfectly located to get around the city. Would definitely stay here in the future!

The breakfast was amazing!! Made to order.
The room we had was on front of hotel with two walk out balcony’s , with a view of a small park.
Bees were very comfortable and bathroom was nice. A lot of charm to this hotel.

Room was spacious enough, clean and comfortable. Old building so sound proofing can be an issue. However, the location makes up for it. Tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, yet close enough to all shopping spots and subway. The staff is incredible - very friendly and accommodating. Amazing breakfast choices.

Booked at Expedia based on the pictures shown and reviews. The hotel is close to Rossio square and convenient for getting to downtown. The facility conditions are not good. Hallway floor is not clean. Toilet is outdated. Body wash dispenser is not working. The floor is not even. The bedroom floor is higher than the bathroom floor. This can be a safety hazard for senior. The reception area decor is good but furniture needs some work. Some Chair barely holds itself. The breakfast area and breakfast is the only highlight. Very good food and arrangement. Overall, the stay is fine mainly because of the breakfast. No recommendation for the facilities.

We stayed at the aptly named Hotel Alegría
In late October and early November, 2025. It is very near all the important sites in downtown Lisbon, and we easily walked to the castle, the waterfront, and many other downtown places of interest. The train and metro stations were very close by.

The food was excellent. The breakfast included a large assortment of breads, fruit, cheeses, meats, yogurt, juices, coffee drinks, and omelets made to order, and everything was beautifully presented.

The rooms were charming and fully stocked with everything we needed.

But, what made our stay in Lisbon the most enjoyable was the incredible friendliness and helpfulness of every member of the staff with whom we had contact, especially David and Danielo (sp ?). They helped us with questions about transportation, directions, calling Ubers, and finding restaurants. The restaurant staff even made food to order when I was not feeling well.

The smiles of all of the people who work at Howl Alegría made our stay in Lisbon truly special.

This hotel was situated on a pretty little square. It was charming, well-appointed, supremely comfortable, and all the staff were particularly pleasant to deal with. The breakfasts in the morning offered an enormous choice, and everything was plentiful and delicious. They would even make us something special if we asked, like an omelet, or a special coffee. We loved this hotel. It was my favorite of our entire trip!

I can't praise enough the staff of Hotel Alegria that is for their kindness, professionalism, level of service and attention to their clients' needs. While the property is wonderful, extremely well located, impeccably maintained and with a lot of amenities, the staff and during this stay made all the difference! From the check-in experience to the Alegria \"Kiosk\" experience for aperitifs and snacks all members of Hotel Alegria's staff couldn't do enough in the matter of being accommodating and extremely courteous and \"fast\". I can't recommend enough this outstanding property and from all standpoints (having tried so many other hotels in Lisbon). Thank you to everybody at Hotel Alegria ... I will be back !

We loved Hotel Alegria! Beautiful hotel - dining room, lobby, rooms, and hallways. Comfy bed, nice lighting, awesome shower. We loved the park and cafe across the street from the hotel. If you order food from the cafe, it’s coming from the hotel. Great options for dining around the square/hotel - excellent tapas and wine restaurant, breakfast restaurant, and a steak restaurant. Very cool speakeasy close - The Red Frog - I recommend making a reservation ahead. We’ll definitely staying at Hotel Alegria next time we’re in Lisbon.

The hotel is very nice but since it faces a park with a band stand they often have really loud music 6-8 hours a night, even until midnight. Esthetics were lovely, mini bar was great, food was good but I thought breakfast was included, check your reservation. Otherwise $18 for a great breakfast. Also I thought it was expensive

The hotel is located on a popular square and is situated between Avenue de Libertatade and Princpe Real--But it still feels tucked away. The front desk staff was very accommodating and helpful. The junior suite was smaller than we anticipated but beautiful--wood floors, vintage furniture, comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. A festival was occurring in the Plaça and we had front row seats. It was a blast and not very disturbing. We loved walking the area and exploring very different neighborhoods around us.

Can't say enough good things about this Hotel and its top-notch staff. we were staying there during the Iberian blackout, no power, no internet or Wi-Fi and very spotty cell service. Although the staff didn't know much more than we did they made every effort to keep things as normal as possible and everyone at the Hotel safe. All the restaurants were closed so the hotel provided boxed lunches for all guests and made wine and drinks available. On the morning of the second day power had been restored but still no internet and the staff used their own phones as hot spots so we could check flights and get boarding passes. Everyone at the hotel kept a calm and professional deminer during the entire event. Aside from the hotels Parkside location and walking distance to restaurants and beautiful decor it's the people that make the difference.

We loved this hotel for many reasons but the primary one was the staff. They were always so helpful and went above and beyond! Ines, David and Diogo were just the best in helping with restaurant recommendations, how to get service for an Apple phone when the touch screen didn’t work, and finding us a way to get to the airport on Liberty Day with all kinds of streets closed. Our room 108 was HUGE for Europe standards. Had plenty of room for two large suitcases on stands. Armoir for hanging a few things. The bathroom, though, nicely upgraded was small but overall this was the best room we had while traveling in Spain and Portugal. Also, great location to access restaurants, shops etc.

The Alegria A Lisbon Hotel was our first stop in Portugal and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and welcoming hotel. Everything about the hotel is wonderful. Super helpful and lovely staff, the room was so comfortable with large shuttered windows that looked over a typically charming Lisbon street, the breakfast was perfect and my husband and I loved the area.

I really can't say enough about how great this hotel experience was. The hotel also is affiliated with the nice outdoor cafe that is in the charming little park across the street. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Lisbon.
