By far the least clean hostel I've stayed in. Floors in the roomwere not fully swept or mopped daily. carpet in hallway not vaccumed and you could visibly see things on the carpet that needed vaccummed . Our bathroom was an accessible room with toilet and shower, everything would get wet and be slippery/unsafe. The door to the bathroom would lock you out and we had to keep getting housekeeping to unlock it. the additional bathroom and showers on floor 3 were closed because the lights weren't working. I tried the additional bathrooms on floor 2 and 4 and they were also closed, staff told us to go up to floor 5. I was in a mixed dorm and had no where to change and would go to the basement to use the bathroom. .

Staff was friendly and check in very smooth. As a solo older traveler, I found it welcoming. The rooms were spacious, clean and with bathrooms and showers connected. Very convenient layout. The location is close to metro station just 2 stops from Plaza Catalunya. I would recommend this hostel!

Good hotel! Only issue was the AC, it was not on, but I went downstairs to ask them to turn it on remotely (it was locked) and they did. Bed was comfortable.

It was okay. For the price I think they should provide a towel and a lock or at least have free locker storage, but you had to pay for everything. I also didn’t like the storage under the beds, you have to get on your hands and knees every time and it took up way too much space. Cleanliness was okay, but they never clean in between. Kinda depends on your roommates. I also wish the bar was open more? But the location was great. Vibe was okay

I have stayed in many Generators (7 to be precise) and this is the worst of them all due to the nonchalant ways of most staffs. I had no power through my bed (unable to use the light or charge my phone) and on my way out (early morning) made them aware of it. Come to find out request was submitted to maintenance at 6pm when they close at 5pm. No empathy displayed- they made me feel like I was a non paying customer 😏. From the security guy to front desk personnel they were very unbothered unconcerned

Looks fun, great lobby, bar and breakfast area. Very social and active but i was too busy to enjoy. The downside is the building. Elevator light went out while riding, personal locker slammed closed on my hand and head. Front desk had no bandage for my bleeding. Pillow case was dirty. Some staff a little too \"friendly\" with women.

The place is in desperate need of renovations, they don’t really do any good or deep cleaning. The showers are covered in mold and tiny (if you’re a gal forget trying to shave your legs or bend down to scrub them). Our sink didn’t have any hand detergent all weekend long, no toilet paper multiple times (thank god I was out most of the day). Also there’s only two washer and two dryers; one dryer was broken throughout my stay(the piles of wet laundry were everywhere in laundry room).

I had asked to borrow they’re iron (they have a sign stating to ask reception for it) but they refused to let me use it (knowing that there was only one working dryer and that I was simply trying to get my clothes somewhat dry), they insisted on a 20€ deposit CASH, which I didn’t have nor could I take out due to my physical bank card situation. So I had to wait until a dryer became available and the dryer didn’t even work, leaving my clothes still wet. I left with a luggage full of wet clothes….

Also when if I’m paying for early check in my bed should be available, my bed was not available despite early check in fee charge and even when I got to go to my room they were still cleaning it so I had to stand awkwardly by door way, it was check in time by the time I was able to actually settle in to my bed.

The only person I will say was great and friendly was Guido, he did the sangria masterclass, he’s awesome!

It's a hostel and you're not paying for anything fancy. What you get here is basic but the important things that matter are all there and done really well. Great bedding, fab shower pressure, and really lovely staff to top off the experiance. If you're looking for great quality no frills at a fantastic price, this is the place.

The check-in process took about an hour, and the line was obstructing other guests as they entered the building. The bed was firm, but it was clean. However, the shower door does not seal completely, leaving about a one-inch gap. As a result, when I take a shower, the floor ends up messy and wet.

Looks great was not worth it.

Was meant to be busy great hotel for solo travel- my friend told me about it.
I arrived at 6pm and it was very quiet.
I went to microwave food and there was a cockroach near the microwave (single but still disgusting as were all the dishes so this put me off going breakfast).
There were very young boys on the roof looked about 12?
I went out at 9pm as still dead people in the lift said the same, came back at 11pm and the front bar area was full but with couples it was not bustley just busy and back bar had 4 people in so I showered.
The toilet in the room didn’t lock (as a woman who needed it to lock) I told reception and they said there were communal showers and toilet. There was one toilet (seemed like mens as no bin and only men using the 3 showers on that floor that were “communal”) I really wasn’t impressed with my stay.
The shower was good in the room but there was a slat loose in the ceiling which made me feel uncomfortable as if someone could look through it?
Could have stayed 4 nights very glad I only stayed one as it’s far away and really did not meet expectations. I’ve been travelling for 4 weeks to many countries this looks the best but really is not.

Good stay. The lift was extremely slow. Had to keep going down to see reception about a number of things and it took forever due to the lift. My card stopped working and I had to wait 20 mins in the line at reception due to other people checking in. They should have a line just for quick fixes. The location was great.

Great location away from heards of tourists but all attractions easily walkable. Great food options nearby and seems to be a quiet and safe neighborhood.

Staff were not particularly friendly or helpful, nor did they explain where hangout spots etcs were located in the building, nor did they encourage socialising which is a must when travelling alone and staying in a hostel. I was declined entry to breakfast area despite buying a coffee, but where else would you meet fellow travellers!!

The rooms are a good set up with great water pressure. However, the room could be cleaner , especially the bed frames as they probably haven't been cleaned since installation. The bed sheet could also be fitted as constantly having to adjust it. Not impressed with having to buy a towel, most travellerd have to pack light so it should be basic necessity (take a deposit).

I'm a little concerned with health and safety. Having got up to turn the lights out I heard commotion in the hallway. It was only when I opened the door I heard an alarm to vacate the building. No guidance at all - no one knew what was going on. Turned out to be a false alarm but the problem is you can't hear the alarm from inside the room (517) which is quite freighting if it was a real emergency.

Overall too large to care for travellers experience. If you think the self check-in will bypass the long queues at reception, think again, as you'll need to collect key and pay taxes at reception afterwards anyway so pointless!

We had a private room with terrace on the 8th floor which was perfect! Room was basic but really modern, clean and great temperature with a/c especially in the heat while we were there. The hotel is very modern and eclectic with a good buzz about it all the time. Everything we were doing was within walking distance and the area is great. Highly recommend

Good for a Couple of Nights

The family room was fine for our family of four, and the kids each enjoyed having a top bunk. There was food downstairs as well as across the street. Unfortunately, food was not allowed in the rooms which made it difficult to grab something and bring it back with you. Also, on our second of two nights, a couple a guys were playing a loud game of soccer in front of our door and rammed into it at one point. We politely told them that we had kids that were trying to sleep and asked them to keep it down. About 45 minutes later, they came by and banged on our door. Luckily, the kids weren’t actually trying to sleep. Just be aware that this is a hostel, and although most of the people in there are fine and leave families alone, there are some who are not.

The private rooms all seem to have a bit of an outside balcony space which was brilliant for enjoying some sun privately. The roof terrace was great for a view across the city. There was a great atmosphere. The only unfortunate thing was the road works taking place outside were quite noisy so that made it hard to sleep in and the bar was a little on the expensive side. None the less I would recommend. It’s just under a 20 minute walk from Sagrada Familia, and about 30 minutes from Las Ramblas / Plaça de Catalunya.

decent hostel- did a private room. the bathroom smelled terrible .. wasn’t the best. the bed was soft, but for the king it’s 2 doubles pushed together and they move often so sometimes i woke up in the middle on the hard bed frame.

This was a decent place for the price. it was packed with large groups, kids, etc. had a good event/dj scene for the night…
location is great and very walkable. 18 min walk from La Sagrada, far from the beach to walk 50 min, but close by train (15 min)!
great food nearby… check out La pepita.

but overall, i wouldn’t stay here again.

We had a pleasant stay at Generator. We really loved the balcony in our room as well as the rooftop, which had a great view of the Sagrada and fireworks during La Merce. The room was minimal but comfortable, though the lights were confusing and one of the bedside lights didn't work. We also had to pay to have our luggage stored, which was inconvenient.

I liked the location, thats all. I found a small worm in my bed, and went to tell reception I wanted to change beds. What did they do then? They just changed the sheets on that bed and assigned another guest there :/ the bed wasn't even comfortable. I felt the springs up my back. The elevator situation was also a mess, slow and sometimes you don't fit because of number of people. Guests there are mostly late teens.

Loved my stay at Generator Barcelona. Very convenient location close to the metro and nice facilities all around. The bed in the all female dorm was comfortable and everything was very clean. Only complaint was the noise some of the other guests made when coming into the dorm room late at night. Otherwise, a terrific stay!

Turn the heating down!!

Very friendly staff, clean and pretty comfortable. But on second night, heating was turned on/up and it was unbearable - even with windows open. A real sauna, particularly on top bunks. I asked for it to be turned down and it was set at 22 degrees but still too warm. Asked again, with backing from others in dorm, but nothing happened. I think you would have a good reception to signs saying that because of climate change and the war you are being conservative on heating. Guests should tell you if not comfortable. Guests will appreciate this!

Only other issue was that the access to the roof was locked at night. Is this not a fire risk?

Shower and toilet in tight spaces. Shower ceiling was quite dirty. Did appreciate the overhead space on bottom bunk bed. Would appreciate toilet paper refill. Would appreciate if we can get more than one towel, as it stated towels were included in my booking. Had to ask Male receptionist to get that extra towel for my hair :) In his words, “it’s just a towel”. Did appreciate female receptionist making it an all female room minus my last night, when it was not fault of female receptionist, as she was off that day. Overall good experience, just wish bigger shower and cleaner

The location is perfect, 2-min walk to Casa Mila with a metro station nearby. There is churro nearby as well which I highly recommended. I LOVE their breakfast buffet and it's totally worth it! Cheap price with high quality and great choice! However, the room is compact with small and very basic bunk bed. The room rate is high but it's Barcelona you know.

The only good thing about this place is the location but there are better places around to stay much better than this so its not worth it.
