Room was not what we expected compared to pictures. Bathroom was dated, and for a 4 star hotel, we expected to have shampoo, conditioner and body wash, but instead got an all in one version. Also the room amenities mentioned screen casting but that was not the case, couldn’t screen cast to the tv. However, spa was decent, hotel and room was clean and staff were friendly enough.

Great night sleep with soft comfortable beds. Spacious feeling rooms, which were nice and clean. Lobby area is amazing, and the food and drink served there was good quality. Location is right in the town, so easy to walk to nearly anything you need, even though taxis are very cheap! Had a bonus of a lovely sauna, steam room, and hot tub area. Last but by no means least, the service was excellent. The whole team did their job professionally with a smile on their faces, especially Anna and Liga! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Based on the photos from the lobby, reception etc. I was expecting a very fancy place. But once I entered in the room, it wasn't really that way. My friend had another room for the same price and there was a heated floor in the bathroom, in mine there was no heating at all. In my shower there was a mold, but not in any extreme level, so it was acceptable. There was a hair drier, but no place to plug it in (in the bathroom), so I dried my hair in the bedroom. There was a smart TV that you can connect with your devices and watch anything. There was a bar with water, but it was not plugged in. The cleaning lady was making a lot of noise since 8AM and anyway you could hear a lot of noise from the other rooms. The bed is super high, but it felt really nice. It felt a little bit cold in the room even when I turned the heating on full temperature, but the blanket was really good and kept me hot during the night. Overall it was a good place to stay for quite good price for the center. And the staff was really kind and helpful!

I recently had a terrible experience at this hotel. Despite paying for two room reservations in advance, upon arrival, they had no rooms available. One of our guests was forced into an awful twin room instead of the double room we booked, and the other guest was moved to a different hotel. While moving one guest was the best they could do, the overall experience was unacceptable. I do not recommend this hotel.

Dobry hotel blisko starego miasta.

Mały pokój, duże łóżko, duży telewizor, ogólnie pokój już dość dawno nie odnawiany, popękana, odchodząca od ścian farba lub tapeta. Czas na remont. Brak czajnika w pokoju. Drogi parking 15 euro. Parking bardzo mały, na kilka samochodów. Śniadania bardzo dobre, jak w hotelu 4-gwiazdkowym lub wyżej. Polecam ten hotel gościom, bez samochodu. Hotel nie jest na samym starym mieście, ale bardzo blisko. Kilka minut spacerem.

Unfortunately, our stay didn't get off to a good start as sleep was disturbed by the noise and vibration of a rooftop device. We asked to be moved to another room and that solved everything. No problems at all after that - nice room, good location, decent breakfast, helpful staff.

Old World Charm meets cosmopolitan sparkle. The Hotel Valdemārs, in a historic building, is conveniently located in Central Rīga, near parks, museums, restaurants, government buildings and, most importantly, our family and friends. The rooms were tidy and cozy. The breakfasts were tasty and nourishing. We entertained guests in the small but comfortable lounge area with a modest bar. The staff were all super helpful and friendly. A great bargain and well-worth consideration of a future return visit.

Friendly staff and looks good at first glance. However, the windows don't provide good soundproofing from outside so if you have a room overlooking the road don't expect a good night's sleep. Included dinner is a single option served from a buffet e.g. plaice in breadcrumbs on the Thursday night I stayed there. Also note they provide mid-afternoon coffee and cake but don't provide a dessert with the included dinner.

Really nice hotel, relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff at the breakfast and bar. We had also light dinner included, which was very enjoyable, every night something different, good quality, cooked with care. Roasted baby potatoes with thymian...mmmm :) The only downside could be that some mornings it got quit crowded at the breakfast, but I guess that is normal at the holiday time in most of the hotels.
We have stayed in many different hotels in Riga and this is one of our favorite.

Friendly, polite and very helpful staff. As a vegetarian and avid coffee drinker it was a nice added touch to get a free evening meal and coffee. I stayed up at the top, in a single room which was tiny. The room was showing a bit of wear and tear. The noise from the ventilation (not the AC) was too loud for my liking. In my opinion and based on experience, you do get better value for money as a single traveller staying elsewhere in Riga.

The outside of this hotel and the public areas look good. Our room was fine but the bathroom needs more thorough cleaning. The shower head was somewhat blocked and there was some mould inside the shower. I know this is awfully hard to clean but it is possible.

first room we were given on 6th floor is not for tall people, it has attic roofs which meant half the room I could not stand up. I asked for a different room next morning and I was given another room with no problem..
Breakfast was good and evening meal was pleasant and even though described as a light meal it was a substantial dinner. Afternoons they provided drinks and sweets.

Elegant and accessible hotel

Quiet European-type small hotel, conveniently located near the National Art Museum, good restaurants and several beautiful parks in the central part of Riga. Service is personal and excellent, all staff speak three languages. The building is one of the turn of the century elegant residences of Riga, bet the style is understated and simple. We loved our stay, and would highly recommend.

Pros: Excellent hotel in Riga within walking distance of the Old Town. Staff were friendly, beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. Free breakfast, afternoon tea and even free dinner was provided with the stay here which was a very pleasant surprise. There is also access to a sauna and gym. Highly recommended.

Cons: There is no complimentary bottled water in the rooms. Duvets were slightly thin although this was only noticeable one night when it was particularly cold.

I was very impressed with this hotel when I visited the Latvian capital earlier this year. So, when the opportunity arose for a city break in Riga just before Christmas, the Hotel Valedemars was an obvious choice for me. As with my previous visit the hotel was spotlessly clean. It is well-located, just a short walk from the Old Town and adjacent to the Art Nouveau area. However, it is the staff that really make this hotel a success - friendly, courteous and professional. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and their hospitality made for another great visit to Riga.

We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough given that it is only classed as 3 stars. The ambience was very relaxing and the staff were all friendly without being obtrusive. We were surprised by the amount and quality of the food which is all complementary. The wifi worked well and the room was amply big enough for two people (2nd floor superior twin). The entire building was spotlessly clean.
The furnishings and decor are all modern. Clearly this hotel had a major overhaul in time for 2014 Capital of Culture.
The location is also excellent - situated on a main road close to the canal and an easy flat walk to the old town.
If you arrive late like we did we recommend that you book a car from the airport via the hotel. This worked really well and was cheaper than a taxi. The hotel provided sandwiches because of our late arrival - a kind gesture.

The hotel is in a good location and only a ten minute walk, if that, to the centre of Riga. What makes this hotel stand out is the staff, they are lovely. We arrived late in the evening and they had made us a light dinner. It was very much appreciated !

Hotel with a story to tell.

My partner and I stayed at the Clarion Collection Hotel Valdemars in Riga. We were given a very warm welcome and quickly came to realise that the hotel's aim was to be like a home from home. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were extremely pleasant and happy to chat and answer questions. Added to this was the provision of tea and coffee all day long, as well as fresh fruit, an afternoon snack and an evening meal - at no extra charge. I found it to be a very relaxing stay. The hotel is conveniently situated about 10 minutes walk across a park to the Old Town. During our stay we visited the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, which is in the park and the Jewish Museum which is just around the corner from the hotel. There is a lot to see and this hotel was a convenient place to stay whilst we explored the lovely city of Riga.

The bed was very comfortable, the room was fine - not too hot - not too cold, and we slept very soundly. A refurbishment of the Reception and lounge/dining area had started on the day we left and as my only criticism would have been that some items of the furniture here could do with a make over, now that I know it's being done, I have no criticisms at all. We would recommend it and would be more than happy to stay there again.

The hotel building has an interesting story behind it of a family's escape during WW2, buried treasure and their eventual return to reclaim what was theirs. Go there and read about it yourself.

This is my first stay at this hotel but it won't be my last.
Just returned home after spending 5 nights in Riga at this superb hotel.

Been visiting Riga since 2005 but always stayed in the old town before.
This hotel is suitable for everyone,business, couples,family, staying alone, no matter what group you are in a warm welcome awaits you at the Hotel Valdemars
Firstly the reception staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable nothing too much trouble wether it be restaurants sightseeing or taxi's .
House keeping is first class.
The breakfast and evening meals are superb, great value for your money.
All in all a very friendly hotel for everyone.

A lot for the money

At first I wasn't too sure if I liked this place because there were a lot of kids running around and bothering the other guests who were trying to chill, but that was an anomoly as it turns out. There are still a lot of kids, however, so if that bothers you, this might not be the place for you. The reasons are easy to see: Free breakfast AND dinner buffet along with 24/7 coffee and snacks, so it's a parent's dream. There is also a bar, which is nice, and a workout facility. It's close to the main area of Riga, but not right downtown old town, so there isn't the partying noise that one encounters in the city center.

The rooms are not the greatest - rather spartan - but overall the place is pretty nice for the price and with all the extras, it's actually a deal.

Stayed here with a group of girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. Absolutely unbelievable hotel, we didn't dare believe it was true until we checked out. Clean, stylish, close to town (10 minutes walk through parks), friendly and cheap, with free use of jacuzzi and steam room. Oh and free wifi! We arrived thinking we had a great deal for bed and breakfast, only to discover that dinner is also included! This hotel just kept getting better. The staff could not be more helpful, with the receptionists organising a birthday cake for us and even helping us to arrange treatments at a local spa.

The room is more than comfortable, with a decent hair-dryer in the room (a must for us girls). Blissfully quiet at night. I really don't think I could recommend this place strongly enough. I would definitely stay here again, if I can get a reservation because this place is likely to be seriously popular!

Riga's reet good

Smashing Scandinavian-style hotel only 10 minutes walk from the Old Town. Friendly staff. I look forward to returning and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Excellent value, service and location

Very well run hotel with great touches of care and attention. Free 24 hour coffee & tea avalable in reception, games and books, hot-tub, small gym and a fantastic FREE homestyle cooked buffet every night! I feel homesick just writing about it. Right in the heart of the \"embassy district\" and a 10 minute walk to the old town. I will definetly go back to the Clarion when in Riga.

Excellent family-owned hotel just outside Old Town

This hotel is perfect for a visit to Riga. The location is just outside Old Town but is right on all the bus lines making it easy to get to/from the airport without taking an expensive taxi or the Air Baltic van.

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is owned and operated by a family that has owned the building for nearly a century. Very nicely decorated rooms. Only complaint is there isn't a clock in the room so bring your own if you don't want to depend on a wake-up call. Also, if you want a wash cloth (for your face) bring your own, as well as hand lotion.

Hotel offers complimentary coffee/tea all day (including take-away cups) but seemed to overlook refilling the pots and creamer when empty.

Breakfast and dinner were tasty. If checking out early let reception know the night before. They prepared a breakfast box for us which was appreciated.

Hotel also offers a nice workout facility, jacuzzi and a sauna (not working when we were there) for guests.

This was a great hotel for exploring the city, especially the nearby Art Nouveau district.

superb customer service

This hotel not only breakfast was included but when you are there they will offer you afternoon snacks and evening buffet which in reality is dinner. Staff was very nice and helpful. very nice location close to old town. Totally Non smoking Hotel.
I was very impressed and happy to be in this Hotel.

O quarto era incrível! Cama excelente e chuveiro sensacional!

O quarto, além de ser muito bem decorado, havia TV, uma cafeteira e frigobar.

A localização era perfeita! Pouco mais de 15min andando do centro antigo da cidade é fácil ligação com o transporte público.
