We choose this hotel because of it's location to UNF but we were disapointed with the cleanliness of the hotel. There was a dirty diaper by the garbage pail for 2 days and numerous staff walked by it and never disposed of it. The breakfast was not bad, there were many food options (waffles, eggs, sausage and cereal, etc) but seating area was tight and crowded. Our room was nice because it had a sliding door that opened to the beach and it was easy to get in and out especially with our dog. The little patio once you walk out the sliding door was just not cleaned enough to sit outside comfortably. I have to say the location was great we walked to restaurants for dinner but they definitely need to do something about the cleanliness of this hotel.

The hotel was in the middle of renovations. Based on that fact, I didn't give my normal high scores across the board.
The only part we were disappointed in was a 2hr wait to ck, told they were sold out and very busy but then to find out they also were selling day passes. Including the renovations.
That was a bit much.

Extremely large room for the price with a fun pool and hot tub (loved the grotto rock waterfalls) that made it feel more like a resort than a regular hotel. The main lobby was under construction when we stayed, so be prepared for longer waits and tight squeezes with check-in and breakfast, but it was still very worth it.

Expedia overbooked my room. I was sold an oceanfront room for a premium price... there were no oceanfront rooms available well before the time of my booking.

I was informed by the resort management that this was not uncommon... they would be refunding Expedia the difference in what room they sold me, vs what I was given.

The resort could not refund the difference directly to me.
I would need to get Expedia to refund me their difference in the room prices.

If I knew the oceanfront was not really available, I would have chosen another resort...

Expedia's practice of overlooking cost me the once in a lifetime experience of celebrating the 250 July 4th anniversary as well as my fiancee and I engagement celebration weekend.

Loved it here. Everything was great until it wasn’t. I don’t know what happened but sometime after 3am our room got extremely warm. Luckily we brought our own fan that made it possible to sleep for couple hours. Had to wake up by 6:30 and realized the room ac was set to 65 but temp in room was 80. Had to check out as early as 8:30 am because it was too hot to stay any longer. Felt better just being the the hallway of the floor than our room. I really love this hotel and everything about it, but having no AC and feeling like fan mode with warm air was bad.

Perfectly located right at the beach, hence one can enjoy sand, water, and sunshine quickly and easily.

Nonetheless, the hotel is under construction and between the dust, noise, cramped spaces, it is anything but a relaxing getaway for families or couples. Even those on business travels are served best to find themselves meeting/ office spaces someplace else, as the noice of the power tools drowns out most attempts of normal conversations.

I have been coming to this hotel for 3 summers in a row. I will not be back. I got a room for 2 days, paid alot of money (full price). When I got there I realized work was being done on the hotel and it was very loud, uncomfortable and made it hard to get to the pool and back, while eating breakfast I had to hold my ears itvwas so loud with workers drilling into the concrete about 20 foot from you. The debris, noise, clutter and workers made this a horrible experience. I will not be back, I'll start staying at another place for the prices there are alot of places in competition right there. They should've let ppl know this work was being done and offered discounted rates.

The entire first floor lobby area of the hotel are under heavy construction. While I completely understand the need because the hotel is very dirty and run down, the rate they are charging per night does not justify the condition of the hotel. When you add the construction on top of the hotel feeling and looking very poorly maintained, the experience was terrible. The pool was very dirty; the pool tile/walls had a black line showing where the sides had not been properly cleaned in a very long time. There were very large holes in the pool decking where the concrete was coming off. If it had not been that we were there with a group for an event, I would have taken my family somewhere else and refused to stay there. Again, the price point per night at nearly $400 for a standard 2 queen room is insane! Stay somewhere else!

While the property was nice, the desk manager that we encountered was so incredibly rude, condescending and unprofessional, gave us the absolute runaround and would not allow us to check in at 3:20pm when check-in is at 3. He stated our room was not ready, he had no idea when it would be ready, and would not give an inkling as to when we should return to check in. My family, including active military back stateside from overseas, planned a nice weekend at the beach… which was ruined by the staff at this hotel. So unfortunate. The staff can completely ruin an experience. I’ve never had an issue with Hilton hotels in the past but I will never stay at a Hilton again after this. This experience is also something I have share with all our military connections such as Blue Star Families, Parent groups, the local VA and other affiliates of our military veterans. I do not care how “nice” or “fancy” your hotel is, the staff should know and do better. Especially for being charged $750 for a 2 night stay at a Hampton Inn. Never again will we use Hilton.
