The hotel staff and breakfast was lovely. Unfortunately there was a horrible smell outside of our room, on the stairwell and the entire floor. The shower was broken. They had they shampoo in the sink holder and hand soap in the shower. I am highly allergic to mold and was ill both mornings In US a low end best western would have had a better quality room at half the price. Would not recommend or stay again at this property.

Great location, very helpful multilingual staff. They met us at the door and assisted with luggage when we arrived by water taxi. Air conditioning couldn't keep up on 95 degree night but staff got us a fan as soon as we asked. Excellent location, 6 minute walk to San Marco Plaza.

Sadly the hotel lacks a lift. Difficult to see where this could be fitted. There was a familiar Venetian smell of drains in one of the breakfast rooms and on the stairs.
Otherwise my stay was excellent and I'd happily recommend this hotel as a quiet, central base for visitors.

Perfect location for central Venice and san marco. The hotel was perfect, small, personalised, very friendly staff and helpful.
Room was small but warm, clean, fresh linen every day. breakfast was plenty of choice to fill up on for the day cereal, egg bacon hams cheese cakes pastries, fruit, fruit syrups, yogurts. I’m gluten free, we’re able to offer fresh baguette, cereal and sweet biscuits everyday for me. Just let them know beforehand or on arrival.
Perfect for cost and location, would definitely return and recommend.

Very nice kozy rooms but rather small in size. Bed mattresses are really firm and pillows hard. They could’ve been a little better for the price paid. Overall cleanness and services including breakfasts were excellent. Staff is attending and everyone is very nice.

I was not able to visit Italy because of COVID-19 and my flight and cruse were canceled. Both companies refunded me even the flights were non-refundable, but this hotel is greedy. They told me that because my stay was after June 30, They are not going to refund my $400.00. We are talking about just $400.00! And they said NO. Cool. Enjoy it. Everybody knows that Italy does not allow USA citizen to enter the country. This hotel used other people desperate time to gain some money.

Bellissimo! The staff was super friendly and this charming hotel is just what we wanted. The room was really, really small, but perhaps that's standard for Venice. Didn't matter--we only slept there. The breakfast was the perfect way to start our day, and the folks at the reception desk happily answered all our questions in perfect English.

That photo you have, the one with the tables with lovely white table cloths? Yeah, only tables. The room I had was at the top of the first main staircase, it was a converted cupboard I'm sure, the en-suite really was an after thought and I'm not totally convinced that the wiring is up to standards. The air-con only warmed the room up, but opening the windows lets the mozzies in. The breakfast room is only slightly bigger than the room, if you use this hotel, get there early for a table.

It's a shame, the location is great, the staff are ever so helpful too.

Great Location!

This hotel was great! If you are in Venice for a short period of time and need to stay some place that is literally within walking distance to everything, then this is it. Like most reviews have noted, the rooms are small but efficient. The beds were great, and the service was good as well. My mom and I were able to check-in quickly after a long day of flying, and then we left and within minutes arrived at San Marco square, etc.

No lift which made the 3 storeys to climb rather arduous! Would have liked some tea/coffee making facility in the bedroom.
Finding our way to the hotel was very difficult - is there a decent map of Venice anywhere? Other than that, the staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and the hotel was located in a v good location between Rialto and San Marco

Terrible stay here which completely ruined our much anticipated holiday. All members of staff were extremely rude and unfriendly. We were wrongly accused of damaging the bed sheets which were required to pay £150 for. Staff forced us to pay despite proving we did not do any damage. Staff made us feel very upset and did not even thank us or even say bye upon departure. State of room was very very poor, very dirty and old bed sheets, which apparently cost £150 as we have had to pay. The toilet was broken and did not function properly. The hairdryer was very poor which was very inconvenient as were not allowed to use our own. Overall the hotel experience has left us with negative memories of Venice and really ruined our trip. Hope staff would understand how much customer service matters. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

A delightful experience

From our earliest pre-stay e-mail correspondence to our final \"arrivederci\", our experience with the Hotel Ateneo was top notch. The staff was beyond professional: they were genuinely friendly, the type of people who you'd like to hang out and chat with. We were fortunate enough to have been given a room in the building across the courtyard in a building separate from the main hotel. We had a private entrance and it felt as though we had our own private apartment...but with maid service! The location could not have been better, central to St. Mark's, the Rialto, and literally around the corner from La Fenice. Oh---and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend that you do, too.

Very nice Italian style small hotel

This is a more Italian-style hotel, where you'll have breakfast next to middle class Italian families. It's not an American-style hotel, so if you're looking for a Hilton, look elsewhere. We found the room fine and comfortable enough. Whether you'll consider it shabby or authentic is probably about your perspective. We found it to be an excellent value, well positioned, with a lovely huge breakfast that made lunch practically unnecessary.

Service was great and the staff was awesome but the rooms are so tiny you cannot get around. The bathroom is so small and the shower floods as soon as you start it. If you shower for too long the water may flood to the bedroom. Overall it was a nice location and close to shops and city center. Hotel was clean but very outdated and old.

Great location, very quiet but also central.

A great little hotel in a perfect location. The staff, particularly Andre and Fabiola were wonderful. They could not be more helpful and made us feel most welcome.
I had read some bad reviews on Trip Advisor and found them to be totally unfounded.
The room was exceptionally clean including clean towels and freshly made bed each day! The mattress and pillows comfortable and the general decor was typically Venetian and fitting with the age/style of the building.
I would most certainly recommend this hotel to future guests.
My only suggestion would be for a kettle to be provided in the room with a few facilities to make hot drinks.

Nice interior decoration hotel in Venice

It is a nice place to stay there and good facilities with reasonable rates.
I am pleased to be there.
But, it is very difficult to fine the hotel at first and it is better if the hotel arrange the tour for the guests.

Great location which is central to St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge - about 7 minute walk to each area. Hotel amenities included a small but nice room with private bath, quaint decor, refrigerator, safe, in room free wifi, TV with cable and 5 English news stations, a great breakfast buffet and lots of shopping and estaurants nearby. The hotel staff were all wonderful! There is no elevator which was the only negative. Will definitely stay here again!

Great hotel close to the main Venice attractions

Loved this hotel, the staff were fantastic and friendly and the room was clean, well decorated and had a strong hot shower and a very comfy double bed. The only problem I had was that the water from the shower made the bathroom floor very wet and had to use all the towels to keep it dry. This doesn't take away from my overall experience, just a small inconvenience. Will definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family.

Our stay at the Aneneo wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that great either. My biggest disappointment was that the room I booked for my two teenage kids was so STINKY! There must have been backflow of some of the green canal water, just stagnant, in the alley where their room was. They did provide air freshener plug ins, but it wasn't enough. The rooms themselves were clean and quite charming, but I hated sending the kids into that stinky room. The breakfast was very pleasant. Just a few minutes from St. Mark's square. Shopping and restaurants were everywhere. A bit pricey for a stinky room. The wi-fi worked. The staff were nice.

Lovely hotel and staff. The only issue is that the street it's on is not on any map and we went round in circles trying to find it initially..and again in the evening in the dark. This proved a tad stressful and seen the number of other hotels in the city just as close to St Mark Square we probably wouldn't return to this one because of this.

Things to consider:

1- if you going with small kids than this is not right choice. Hard to lift pushchair several times from small bridges.
2- Very basic breakfast in a small room.
3- Staff is ok not brilliant.
4- get receipt of any money you pay as we end up paying city tax twice- for night staff at check in and day staff on check out.
5- Room is in front of hotel on small street, size is ok, could be more comfortable. wifi was not brilliant.
6- Toilet was good size and clean.
7- You will be walking from hotel to get to boat- approx 15 minutes.
8- Hotel is very basic may be 1-2 star.

Excellent Hotel just outside of Milan

This hotel had very friendly staff, and in a great location outside of Milan. Walking distance from a wonderful gelato stand as well as a wonderful chicken restaurant. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very spacious and clean. There's an elevator unlike many hotels in Europe. Would recommend to this hotel to anyone.

Lovely hotel located close to Teatro La Fenice. Also within walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and other points of interest in Venice. The rooms are small, yet as I wasn't there to spend time in my room that was manageable. Also close to the stop by Rialto bridge for public transportation if not in the mood to walk. Would certainly recommend.

Hotel is in a great location with a pretty courtyard. Room for 3 was small but adequate with a compact bathroom and view over courtyard. Breakfast room compact with plenty of food and very helpful staff. Rooms were cleaned and replenished every day, again very helpful staff if requested anything. Would definitely recommend as fabulous value for money.
