We went during September and the weather was still warm. Our stay was good, the staff was great the location was very convenient steps from La Gran Via. Our only complaint was the AC, it never worked and the room felt hot. We let the front desk know and they provided us with a fan but was not enough.

Since we arrived at the property everything was excellent. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. We stayed with our five year old and they were always very kind and lovely with her. The property is in an excellent location. Near every point to visit everything you want in the area. This is definitely a place we will stay again.

The hotel is in a very good location and all the staff we came across were helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a good range of items. The room was very very small and needs some updating. Every time we showered the bathroom flooded as the drain was not draining quick enough. It was very warm in Madrid and the air-con wasn’t very good. The hotel is not worth the amount we paid for 2 nights.

You can Likely Find a Nicer Room for the Price

Our first floor room had scuffed baseboards, crumbling areas on the walls, needed painting and a general refurbishment. Furniture was scratched and pillowcases had threadbare spots. Room was noisy with traffic and other guests. But room and hotel was clean and staff was pleasant and location was good.

The hotel is in the heart of Madrid and well located for shops, trains, Metro and many things are within walking distance.
The hotel itself is a little tired and in need of some room renovation- the floors and walls are a little shabby and the bathroom is in need of an upgrade. The fancy shower seen on the website is not the one in the room.
However, it had everything one would need; the shower is hot and strong and the desk staff were polite and accommodating.
They spoke English and gave us a city map and recommendations for activities.

We booked a family room for 4 person, hardly any space to put our luggages. Construction work right next to our room on next door building at time of our stay was noisy. Room is old and dated. Most of our time spent outside so the hotel location made up for above downside. ☺️

Moved to another room which was smaller than original room, too small for 2 people, tiny bathroom but it was nice and quiet. Felt a bit prison like as was so small. Lovely breakfast.

The room was in need of a makeover. Flooring very worn and floorboards were separating, bathroom grout black in areas, shower unit came away from the wall when lifting the shower lever, headboard burnt from the spotlight, only one light at the side of the bed, as the other had been removed, under the bed was dusty and had some litter.
On a positive note, the shower was powerful and warm, great central location, quiet considering proximity to Gran Via. Reception staff were pleasant and check-in/out quick.

The Hotel room was clean and comfortable but the bathroom shower wall unit needed urgent attention barely hanging on the wall. Cleaning under the wash unit needs reviewing as well as the broken state of the glass top.AC unit not very effective.
However all said staff very friendly and welcoming and the location is excellent near the main tourist areas.

Hotel location was excellent. A short walk to most of the tourist attractions. The breakfast buffet was excellent. More typical of North American style vs the usual European croissant and coffee. Staff were accommodating and helpful. Room was small but sufficient for our purposes. No real street view.

The hotel itself is very well located, you can walk anywhere in Gran Via and the metro of Callao and Gran Via are right there. The staff is exceptional and breakfast is amazing. Also the staff in the kitchen are nice and helpful. The last day we needed to leave super early to Barcelona and they made us little bags with snacks to take with us. The hotel facility is a bit old and I know they are doing some upgrades but the friendliness and customer service compensate the little flaws of the hotel. Also it's super clean and organized.

Over all was satisfactory except for the elevator was no working at the time but we were just on the 2nd floor so it wasn't so bad. I get to exercise.
While there was an ongoing construction across the street, the workers were reasonable not to make too much noise. It was more that the location is so close to a main street that it created outside noise.

This was my second time in Madrid and my first time in this hotel. The proximety to Gran via makes this hotel a must stay and all the staff in this hotel were amazing, super friendly and helpful with any requests.. \"Patricia\" in the front desk really went out of her way to give us all sorts of information on where to go and what to see.. etc.. We were really pleased with the comfortable bed/ mattress.. the white linnen sheets were very soft and super white which is a must for me!!! The room was very clean and very comfortable. I recommend this hotel to everyone!!! Very good price, very clean and amazing location!!!!! I would definitely stay here again!!!!

Air con not working, only hot air came out of the vents, had to switch it off and open window as room was too hot.
No reception on my mobile, had to use hotels wifi to communicate.
Breakfast choice/selection was poor, some food was cold, ie, eggs, beans, etc
Comparing to other hotels in Madrid, this was the worst hotel ive stayed in.
The only plus side is the hotel staff were polite and the hotel and room were clean and tidy.

Hotel is just off Gran Via and is a great location for getting around to all the sites. A/C worked great, room was clean, shower is outdated but was good, wifi always worked great, front desk staff was always helpful. Walls are very thin so if you have noisy neighbors can be a bit of a problem, the lift on 2 occasions over my 6 nights was not working so had to walk up so get a room on the lower floor. The hotel did have the lift fixed quickly to their credit. They offered breakfast but i did not use this service.

Great location, extremely quiet and fantastic customer service. Yes the room was small for 4 but it was a normal room with bunk beds and all we really wanted was somewhere to sleep and shower for 10 hours.

We booked three nights in this hotel. The first room we were assigned the air conditioner did not work. We moved to room #2. IT smelled like raw sewage but the hotel staff said they used their machine for odors and the room was OK. There were orange bits on the bathroom wall...didn't want to know what they were. We spent two night in the room, but the third night the smell was so bad we had to move. Room #3 the toilet leaked and the air conditioner was too loud. Room #4 slept 8 people but we used the room for one night. Overall rooms were not clean, needed repairs, and everything was worn...carpet had spots that were worn, flooring had gaps between planks and the planks moved when they should not. We had reservations for another night when we returned to Madrid, but we canceled it. Worst hotel I have stayed in in years and paid the most for it.

No iron, water dripped from the bathroom ceiling, and bathroom door was not closing properly (but we never complained about it until we were leaving). It was a small 2-room with bunk-beds in one room. We were there for only two nights, but it was a cramped for four people. It was okay though. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We felt very safe walking around there, lots of shops around, close to the city bus tour pick up/drop off. I would stay there again.

Great Central Location but Awful Otherwise!

First off let me state that while, yes, this hotel was in the very center of Gran Via, that was pretty much all that was good about it. There was a strip club directly across the alley, the alleyway itself that is Chinchilla (the actual 'street' the hotel is on) was shady looking and populated with seedy bars. The A/C in the room did not work and it was stuffy and the entire place wreaked of cigarette smoke even though it was supposed to be a smoke-free establishment. So as the room was so stuffy we had to open the window at night so as not to sweat and it was so noisy. Gran Via is a major party center for Madrid and as we had a strip club and numerous bars on our street, it was just so loud that sleeping was not easy. I got up at one point and looked out the window, about 1:30 am and there were prostitutes and transvestites walking by as well as a group of loud internationals drunk off their behinds. It was awful. Then there was the room itself. Let me first, again, go with the good. The only good thing was its relative cleanliness. The housekeeping staff were great and it was a clean room. The bathroom was decent, and the shower was pretty good. The good ends there though. The room was terribly tiny for a triple room (3 twin beds) very crammed and stuffy due to lack of functioning A/C, and the beds were AWFUL! It was literally like sleeping on nothing but springs. All 3 of us were having awful back and neck pain after the first night. In short I will say that for the amount of money we paid we expected more, but you are paying for the location which isn't necessary because Madrid has a great Metro system so you can stay further away at better hotels and still do everything you want with ease. Best advice I can give is to really research the area of town you plan on staying in because often you will be paying for location over anything else. I would not recommend Gran Via as it is just terribly noisy all night long and just a seedy area because of its party crowd. This trip was supposed to be a relaxing birthday trip for myself with some friends and turned out to be anything but.

The hotel room wasn't ready when we got there, I had made the booking 2 weeks before my arrival date. We had to wait 1 hour for them to get our room ready. Also when we were checking out the guy at the reception said there is \"FREE\" breakfast and when we were leaving he charged me for it and said it was FREE buffet but not the breakfast?!!!!! When we all said to him that he had said it was FREE breakfast, he started arguing and insisted we pay before he gives our luggage!!!!! Was horrible but luckily we only stayed one night.

The hotel was in an excellent location, but this was its only positive feature.

Upon arrival, we were met by a concierge who was more interested in his personal coversation on his mobile phone than to check us in. He barely barked three words at us before giving us the key to our room (this was not a language barrier, as I was speaking to him in spanish).

The rooms were tiny. I did read other reviews on this website which commented on room size, so when I booked I decided to opt for one up from the 'Petite' option at an increased cost. The room we were given barely had enough space for the beds and surrounding furniture, and I believe we were simply given a petite room despite paying extra.

The airconditioner did not work well enough to keep the room cool, which we found surprising given that we were practically staying in a shoebox. Fortunately the weather was not too bad, but the room was still uncomfortably warm during the day.

The bed was not the comfiest, and I actually had what appeared to be an old piece of gum caked onto my pillow.

For the price of this hotel, despite its location, I really expected alot more.

Convenient and Clean Hotel

The check-in was wonderful, it is just right off the metro, we arrived after an overnight flight at 9 am, and we were given a room, which was WONDERFUL. We were so happy they gave us a room right away. The bathroom was clean and the shower had great water pressure.

I think because we were given a room at 9 am, with a double bed instead of two singles, we were given probably the smallest room in the hotel. I didn't complain though, because I was happy they accommodated our early arrival (good customer service). The hotel echoes kind of a lot. Our room was next to the stairwell (as most are since there are only 3 rooms to a hallway), and you can hear everyone walking up and down the stairs and down the halls, it's very loud. It's an old building though so I guess that kind of thing is to be expected.

Sheets were clean, pillows were a little flat, mattress was not that great, but also wasn't horrible, we didn't lose any sleep because of the pillows or mattress, but I think I've just gotten used to nicer hotel beds.

The room was very clean, we had clean towels every day, and there was free internet downstairs in the breakfast area. My friend had breakfast both days and it was quite a spread, so he was happy with it.

We were also able to communicate with the hotel staff very well, they were all very nice, and able to understand what we were trying to say in English. There was no clock in the room, but we asked for a wake up call and it came, so it was reliable.

It is close to several other Hi Tech hotels in the Old Quarter nearby to Place de Sol. Yes, the room is small, but is typical and was not the smallest I've been in. Ideal for solo traveller or business trip

Highly rated Madrid hotel

This hotel was in a perfect location in the heart of Madrid. We were able to easily walk to the Plaza Mayor and Plaza Puerta del Sol--must see areas with many shops and restaurants. We returned to the hotel at all hours of the night and always felt safe because of the number of people out enjoying the wonderful area. It's also steps away from the Metro station--one of the best Metro systems I've ever used. We took the Metro from the airport and easily walked to the hotel from the Gran Via station. We had three people in our room, and the hotel had a unique Murphy bed system for two additional beds in the room (bringing to four the number of beds in the room, if needed). The hotel staff was competent and friendly.
