This hotel was perfect for us - close to but not in the middle of busy central Florence. Super easy walk to the Duomo and all the other central sites. If traveling by train, this is a great location. If traveling by car (which we were) parking is tricky, but the hotel recommends a public parking lot within a 12 minute walk, which we found to be very simple and convenient. Check-in and check-out staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable. We would definitely return to this hotel for any future visits to Florence.

Wonderful stay in Firenze

This Hotel is 1st rate. They staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was great, the room spacious and clean. The Hotel is conveniently located to the sights. I would stay there again.

Hotel Mercure Firenze Centro is a convenient to the Florence Train statio but, as a result, suffers from being on a noisy street which can certainly be crowded and a little dirty. Once inside, however, everything is nice and clean and the staff were friendly and willing to help with whatever you need.

This is a lovely hotel that offers what you need in terms of basics but I feel it is not up to standard. The room lighting is very dim and it doesn’t create the best ambiance.

The internet was not working at all. They tried to offer me points to compensate but that was not really sufficient.

Worst of all, no heating provided because it is not “the season”. We were warm enough but after walking in rain, you want heat to dry your clothes and warm up.

I felt we had to make do in the end but I expected more. It wasn’t a great accommodation.

In general, it’s an ok hotel. Not as nice as the pictures suggests. Showers are a bit moldy. Faculty looks old.

This hotel was very nice. The rooms were huge and clean, the beds were comfortable and appointed with high end linens, air conditioning was great, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The staff was very helpful, the included breakfast was served in a beautiful courtyard and was delicious- seriously, try the waffles- and the hotel is very centrally located. Overall, we had a great experience.

As the purpose of these reviews is to give people an idea of what to expect, I do have to offer a few criticisms. The furniture in the rooms was older and a bit shabby. And unfortunately, the outside of the hotel is covered in graffiti.

Otherwise, we had a very nice time, and I recommend this hotel highly.

Overall, our one night stay was terrific. Being so close to the train station was fabulous - made getting in and out of Florence very easy. Room was quite large, bed was very comfortable, my only comment would be that the whole environment was a bit sterile. Could not have been an easier location though.

This is a very nice and contemporary hotel. Our room was spacious. They are ecofriendly and the staff was always warm and friendly saying good morning and hello every time we went in and out. It's located in a busy area right off the street. It almost looked like the hotel did not match the area it was in. It was easy walk out to shopping streets and for coffee. It was also close to all the places we wanted to visit. While inside the hotel, we never felt unsafe and it was nice and quiet. The only issue we had was with wifi. The free hotel wifi wasn't working for us most of the time and that was very inconvenient. All in all the processes were easy and positive.

We love staying at this property when we visit Munich and have a few times before. However, the plumbing was a bit of an issue this time. The bathroom had a terrible smell every time anything was used as the piping needs to be replaced or cleaned out. Other then that, the room was always cleaned nicely and the staff is amazing.

We were sceptical to book a room here as reviews are a bit mixed for the Mercure in Florence however our stay was fantastic. All staff provided exceptional service and Sabrina in particular was a delight to deal with. We were fortunate enough to receive an upgrade and our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, decent size bathroom with lovely Nuxe complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was fantastic, with continental options including pastries, cereal, cold meats, cheeses, spreads etc and a small bain-marie with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. Fresh coffee available on request too. A wonderful and very memorable stay. Thank you to all the staff for their gracious hospitality.

The hotel is just 5 min walk from SMN main train station. Hotel building used to be a theatre. Many restaurants nearby. Walking distance to all tourist spots. Hotel room is very clean with AC and minibar which is very handy in hot summer months. Will stay again. Thanks.

Great location. But Beds gives back pain =(

Mercure is a good choice on location. Near to the train station, buses, trams. They are literally a stone throw a way. Mcdonalds, Mercato Centrale, good restaurants, the Duomo , Cathedral are all so accessible. But you could say that thats the only thing really good at it. Rooms are modern , good. But the bed is not good. You dont feel it at first but I woke up with a sharp pain in my back . I was so surprised! We stayed there 6 nights. I think it was only after 3 nights that I realized its the bed.
I guess it is up for change. I noticed it only when I saw the bed lumping down … the beddings are okay.

Also since there was a hail the day we arrive, it destroyed the AC, so we didnt have AC until the last night. The hotel can’t do anything about it. And well , we were given the concession of free breakfast which we only partook 3 times. Out of the 6 nights we were there.

So yes to location.
No to comfort,
Room size is okay.
Chiara was a great help in suggesting the Piazza Michelangelo to have a city view. Francesca is also helpful in sharing the way to the sights, helping us with the taxis . But sadly, our experience, was not really good in the hotel. Such a sad experience.

I guess you could say the bed made it my worst experience in my travel history. No more Mercure for us. They do not have standards on their bed’s comfort. This to me is absolutely important as travelers need to rest their laurels and did not pay to get back pain.

Good location near the station - main tourist attractions are within a 15 minute walk. The safe and the fridge in the room both didn’t work. Standard chain hotel - clean and you know what are getting.

One and half blocks from Santa Maria Novella train station.
Very spacious room, clean, modern, mattress, pillows, sheets were very comfortable, big screen T.V. Excellent shower and complementaries. My room was very quiet. The “Privilege Rooms” have the mini bar consumption; free. Excellent attention from all attendants at the hotel.

Is newly renovated however rooms have a few issues-carpet was dirty, the hotel steam cleaned while we were out for the day. A few design issues-the tap-spout on the sink doesn’t reach the middle of the basin and water spills over. The shower leaked badly. We could see that previous work had been done. Beds way too hard for North Americans. Still a great location to be able to walk to all central attractions.

Our keys kept not working so we had to go all the way down each time from the 5th floor…. Their iron ruined a shirt of ours, and they couldn’t provide us with water! No drinking water so we had to rush out at midnight and buy some. Very frustrating !! The girls at the front were much more friendly than the gentlemen.

This was a very disappointing experience. We were given a room on the first floor that smelled awful, had filthy carpet and sofa, a bathroom door that didn’t lock without a fight, and a shower that didn’t drain. After encountering all of these faults, we finally approached the desk and were happy to have been switched yo another room that was quite the opposite. Thankfully this made our stay more comfortable. Sadly, we cannot look past the experience from the first room we were given and hope the hotel doesn’t make a habit of assigning people to rooms in these conditions.

Our room carpet is full of stains, shower room design was lousy ,water keep leaking out make the bathroom floor always wet after shower. Whole hotel only have one iron, if you need to use must bring your clothing down to reception iron.

The hotel is clean and welcoming, and is very close to the train station, Santa Maria Novella, about 5 minutes walk. As mentioned by previous guest, the walkway outside hotel are full of graffiti, but once you step inside it is very clean and nice. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. The pillows could be abit better though. Overall decent 4star hotel.

During these strange times this hotel was great, breakfast served to your room in a friendly manner, super helpful receptionists, things normally available in the room like coffee, shower gel etc freely available from reception and lots of hand gel around the hotel - they’ve got it right and if you’re flying a 20 min tram journey from Florence airport (Peritola) to/from the hotel is more or less door to door

Toiletries are not replaced daily; needs to ask for them. Unexpected for an international brand managed hotel I must say. Short walking distance from rail station and to places of attraction. Overall, it is still a good hotel.

Location was near the train station, rooms quite and were comfortable, breakfast was good.
If you prefer to be closer to the all the restaurants and shopping you have to walk from 20 to 25 minutes. I was a little
disappointed that the area outside of the hotel was not clean graffiti and trash.
