Easy to get to from the parking and drop off area. The hotel staff and front desk were great and very helpful and most of all the Caldera view from here was amazing. IMO better than Fira and Oia.

A lovely boutique hotel in an amazing setting. It has a cosy and laid-back vibe. Our room was great - large, simply but adequately furnished, with a private terrace to enjoy that view and sunset! Breakfasts were good, Eddy and the team were great. The pool is larger than most, and rarely busy. Location is quiet but close to the village centre. Highly recommended.

Unbelievable view from the property, it will take your breath away and great quiet area in between Fira and Oia. Easy access to Fira and Oia from there, especially if you want to hike the path between. Plenty of restaurants and markets and coffee within easy walk. Pool area was great. You are really paying for the view, exterior, location here. The rooms themselves were dated, but comfortable, and not many amenities. Wi-fi was great.

We had a wonderful view from our room. It seemed all rooms faced to the west for sunset views. The water was not drinkable in the room, but several SuperMarts were nearby to buy water, snacks,and necessities. Be aware that the walking paths are steep in places with many stairs. Vehicles cannot reach the hotel, and the nearest point for pick up and drop off is about 100 meters. The hotel staff was awaiting our arrival and assisted with carrying my wife's bag to the room. Breakfast was not included, but there was a Nespresso machine in the room and breakfast was available for purchase. We did not try it and instead walked to Crown's for an excellent salmon bagel and coffee. Leave your high heels in your bag and wear sensible walking shoes if you plan to go out of the hotel.

Our recent stay at Hotel Afroessa in Santorini was overall a delightful experience, with a few minor quirks. From the moment we arrived, the service was welcoming. A porter greeted us at the drop-off point and kindly carried our bags down the hill to the hotel, as it is perched on an incline. The general manager, Ed, personally welcomed us, which was a nice touch. He was friendly and professional, showing us to our room and explaining the hotel’s policies.

The room itself was fine, though it wasn’t quite what we had expected. While it was comfortable and met most of our needs, the one drawback was the shower. It didn’t have an overhead stand, so we had to hold the showerhead while bathing, which sometimes caused water to splash around.

Despite this minor inconvenience, our overall stay was enjoyable. Ed also took the time to suggest various activities we could participate in during our vacation, which was helpful. The hotel’s location offered stunning views, and the atmosphere was peaceful, making for a relaxing stay.

One memorable highlight was the warm and friendly staff. We were particularly happy to connect with two wonderful ladies from Cameroon who work there as caretakers—meeting fellow compatriots from the motherland was a lovely surprise.

In conclusion, Hotel Afroessa offers a lovely experience with personable service, even if the room facilities could use a small upgrade. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a cozy, welcoming place in Santorini.

This hotel was a dream! Super friendly and helpful staff, arranging transportation and helping with our bags down all the stairs. The breakfast was delicious and cocktails by the pool were great. It was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite, which was private, had a large hot tub/balcony and the most amazing views of the caldera! I’m so glad we stayed in Imerovigli because it was quieter and less touristy feeling than the main towns in Santorini, it also has the most amazing views of the caldera and sunset. Restaurants and some shopping in the area were still great. We watched the sunset every night from our balcony and it was so peaceful. The pool was lovely to cool down in and gets sun most of the day. The pictures just don’t do the views justice - you really have to see it in person. I loved this hotel because it was just on the outskirts of town so it was quiet and peaceful but beautiful , had everything you need and still easy access to the main towns - we did day trips into Fira and Oia and that’s really all you need. If I’m ever in Santorini again, I would definitely have another stay here!

A really lovely hotel with excellent service. It was our second time at Afroessa and it was superb. The views are stunning and everyone at the hotel were very helpful. It’s well located slightly outside of the busy Fira but very walkable along a coastal path (the return journey is uphill!). The pool area is really nice and with only 12 rooms it felt peaceful too. Recommended.

Everything about my stay at Afroessa in Imerovigli was absolutely magical, and perfect location. From setting up airport transfer and prompt pick up upon arrival by Tani went off without a hitch. I got to the hotel and had to walk a little to get to the hotel, the view was absolutely stunning. Eddie greeted me, carried my bags to reception, and checked me in. I asked for an upgrade with a jacuzzi which Elena and Eddie helped me with for 3 days of my stay, absolutely worth it. Juliano was super helpful getting my bags to the new room. Gwen and her sister the housekeepers checked in to see if I needed anything and were super helpful the whole stay. By the time I left here I felt like I’ve gained some new friends at Afroessa. Thank you all again for the wonderful customer service - Tani, Eddie, Juliano, Gwen & Sister, and Elena. Can’t wait to come back!

I know we came off season in November but this was a bait & switch. Nothing matched the pictures. No restaurant, pool, or staff or services. We were alone. No hot water first night. Not enough towels, cups, or blankets. Dark at night and no lights. No security at all. Awful. Ripped off because it was very expensive. Yes we had a caldera sunset view and a dirty jacuzzi- but room quality was poor. Stay away!!

We texted our arrival time and were expected. Walked down a dark path - no signs nothing. Eventually someone came out of a property we had gone into and said we were in the right place.

Bait and switch. Nothing resembling the description or photos. No services at all. No hot water day 1 but they came and fixed that after we texted.

The “outside” of our room was fine - great views and lukewarm jacuzzi. Inside not so good. Cheaply furnished. Not well equipped. No robes, insufficient towels and blankets. Poor security. When the wind blew dust came into the room. Lousy bathroom. Fixtures wobbled and poor water pressure. I’m sure there are many better choices and certainly at almost $400 night much better. Highly do NOT recommend.

Best kept secret in Santorini!

The view here at Afroessa is second to none! Better than that, we stayed in peak season and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Imerovigli is DEFINITELY the town to stay in when visiting Santorini. Oia is a tourist trap, but we lucked out by staying here. Our host was very welcoming and accommodating and made us feel right at home. The room was a bit cramped for someone tall like me, but you really felt you were getting the authentic Santorini experience. We had our own private balcony overlooking the caldera and felt like royalty when we sat there watching the beautiful sunset. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking to travel to Santorini and skip the touristy crowds! This place was a piece of heaven! Oh, and go to Anogi to eat! Quite literally the best food we have ever had, no question!

Some of the most stunning views on the island. BUT – the place was kind of a mess. The faucet on the sink was falling over. The water pressure was terrible. The beds were small and hard. A bunch of the doors on the property would crash open & closed in the wind at night so it was hard to sleep. It's a cute spot that is badly in need of a remodel.

We loved the area of Imerviogli because it was less touristy and had such stunning views (while still being an easy taxi or uber to the other parts of the island). But I would not recommend this as a place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Afroessa. The location can’t be beat, it’s quiet with an amazing caldera view and feels very private and remote, but is actually just a few minutes walk away from tons of restaurants. The staff were very helpful and even helped us with booking an ATV rental. The hotel is on a cliff which makes it dramatic but I would not recommend for people who struggle with stairs.
We booked a hot tub room which was awesome because we enjoyed the sunset every night from our hot tub with some wine…. Much better than fighting the sunset crowds in Oia. We hope to come stay again someday!

This boutique hotel had the best sunset views on the entire Island. You can walk down from the hotel and get right onto the path to Fira or the other direction to Oia. This is a quieter area of the Island which we loved. We could step out our door and have many dining options or eat in on our deck and watch the water and sunsets. It appeared that all the rooms had the same view. Eddy and the other staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfy and the room had all the amenities we needed. I will definitely go back to this hotel but will stay longer.

Stayed for 4 nights and it was amazing. You get beautiful views of the island. There are many restaurants near by within walking distance. This area isn’t as crowded as Oia and Fira and my boyfriend and I loved that. It was very quiet and lovely. The wifi worked fast, hot water was always available, and they have a bar connected to the pool. The workers are so friendly and kind. They make you feel at home and ensured that all our needs are met. Highly recommend! When looking for a hotel to stay at, I wasn’t so sure which one to choose from. So I’m really happy to have picked Afroessa. You won’t regret it.

Amazing views, top-notch service!

I cannot say enough good things about this place! The pictures just barely do it justice- the setting is beautiful, the view of the sunset is world-class, and the simple decorating style works perfectly with that. One of my favorite moments of our stay was just sitting by the pool, sipping local wine and watching the sun ho down. I’ll also add that we had a fantastic breakfast on the terrace, so if you stay here be sure to fit that in before heading out for the day.
The room itself was pretty simple but comfortable. We stayed right next to the pool, which mean making a choice between opening the shutters to enjoy the view or having more privacy. But there were no issues with noise from other guests using the pool area, so still a great option.
What’s most notable about Afroessa Hotel was how kind and helpful the staff was. From the moment we showed up we felt like VIPs even though I’m pretty sure we were in the cheapest room. They called to get us taxis when we needed them, gave us lots of tips about where to go, and helped us get our luggage up the many steps. I especially want to note that they were very welcoming of us as a same-sex couple. Thank you again for a wonderful experience!

Good stuff:

- The people who run this place really are great. I think it's only like 3 people who run the whole thing, but they are on top of everything and will go out of their way to help you. I think one dude actually lives(?) at the hotel, so there is always someone there if you need it.

- I had transfers to/from the airport booked through them, with one of them being at 4am. Both transfers were exactly on time, no issues.

- We stayed in a room that had a private hot tub. The room was lovely, very clean and had a wonderful view. All rooms will have a great view. The hot tub was awesome, but if you don't have one then they have a pool too. The pool was never crowded.

- This was probably the quietest hotel room I've ever stayed in.

Some minor not so great stuff:

- The Wi-Fi was pretty bad, at least in our room.

- The hotel doesnt have a restaurant, bar, or any other options outside of breakfast. This isn't a huge deal, except that it's at the far end of everything so it's a good walk to get to other (particularly cheaper) restaurants. The hotels next door have restaurants but they are expensive.

- Santorini doesn't have potable drinking water from the faucet, you shouldnt drink it. This is a whole island thing, not just for this hotel. The hotel gives you free bottles of water, which is good/necessary, but I wish they would've stocked the whole fridge with them. I kept having to ask for more water and ended up just buying a whole bunch.

Hotel had amazing view both from our room & the restaurant. The owner, Ioanna was friendly and so were the staff, and we could feel that they wanted us to enjoy the stay.
We had dinner at the restaurant which was available for hotel guests only. Food was prepared by Ioanna's son Spiros, very tasty and reasonably priced. Dinner here watching sunset is definitely better than being in Oia! You also could have breakfast / dinner delivered to your room at no extra cost.
Highly recommend and would stay here again.

The hotel is set right along the cliff face looking straight over the Caldera. Every evening you are well positioned for an amazing sunset from the balcony of every room. The staff are all extremely friendly and are more than willing to offer suggestions of where to go and what to see. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Santorini.

Nice views, puny pool. For the price should be refurbished and upgraded. Did not appreciate the hard sell of expensive tours and sites for which the manager gets a kickback. It would be nice if they actually cared about one's budget and gave recommendations accordingly. Not everyone visiting Santorini is a rich tourist with unlimited funds. Sofia was absolutely marvelous and helpful with a smile. Too bad she is not the one sittting behind the receptionist desk.

What makes the Afroesse stand apart from the thousands of rooms available in the little crescent shaped slice of paradise that is Santorini. Simply the owner and the staff , this small 12 room facility was built from a ruin of a 18 th century winery. The views are the same as the establishments at 10 times the price the rooms are clean comfortable and each is unique there are no bad rooms. The staff are there to welcome you and fulfill your every need from the moment you step off the transportation from the port. Ms Georga has built a reputation for hiring wonderful friendly staff at her facility and it makes it stand apart as choice for your stay on Santorini.

Everything about this hotel was amazing! Super views of the Caldera, nice quiet area away from the hustle bustle of tour buses but easy access to Oia and Fira via bus or foot.

The hotel staff were super helpful and friendly and helped us arrange transfers to and from the Port as well as recommend us places to eat and cruises to go on.

Would definitely stay here again.

What made the experience was the outstanding staff at the hotel. Beautiful, relaxing hotel for our honeymoon

My husband booked this hotel for the first portion of our Grecian honeymoon. The location was picturesque and quiet, but accessible enough to restaurants and activities. We were able to get the largest balcony, which offered amazing views of the caldera. The staff, especially Mary and the owner, Ioanna, were very helpful and warm. Not only did they help recommend and organize our activities such as wine tastings, boat trips and an in-room massage, but they also helped coordinate all of our transportation. Jeff and I really had an exceptional experience and would recommend this hotel highly.

The best hotel I've ever stayed in!

We had the most amazing time at this amazing hotel - the staff were amazing; friendly, helpful and so lovely. The hotel is so quiet and exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon. We could easily walk to shops and to Fira. The walk to Oia was perfect too - the hotel is right on the path which takes you to either of these places. The room had everything we needed including a very comfortable bed, plug in insect repellents, a fridge with a freezer and our own wifi. The food at the hotel was fantastic and is very reasonable too - the free local wine is also an excellent touch!
I cannot recommend this hotel enough - I've never had a more positive experience and genuinely will miss the place and the staff. Thank you for making our honeymoon so amazing.

My daughter were on a special trip before she heads off to college. We were greeted at 8:30 AM with the attached view. The whole staff (especially Mary and Eddie) were great and continuously make every effort for their guests to enjoy every aspect of their stay. Suite was very nice, everything impeccably clean, very peaceful, great food, perfect pool to cool off in, w/ a view I will remember forever. We had a wonderful experience w/ Afroessa. Great, small, family run hotel at the best location on the Caldera of Santorini. With only 10 rooms you're really a guest, a very personal approach. Top service and a very kind and helpful staff.
The views from this hotel are stunning. It's a quiet place and still near all necessary facilities.

Great Place

This was a great little place. The staff was super friendly, and they were just finishing up repainting everything. The room was small but it was in an old arched wine storage area. They give you a fridge and sink so I guess you could make your own meals. They also bring room service right to your balcony which is really nice. Another review said this hotel had a view of the caldera. Technically true, but the island in the center of the caldera is around the corner. It's actually higher than Fia, which makes the walk there really nice.

Beautiful hotel, stunning views and lovely staff

A warm welcome even on our late arrival, a glass of wine and even though the resturant had closed we were able to enjoy a lovely dinner. Our room was lovely and the view, stunning. the pool area was lovely plenty of loungers and towels for use either at the pool or beach. The food was lovely, the service excellent. Mary helped us arrange a couple of trips, even looking at the weather forecast. We had a wonderful time at this a very special hotel a credit to Joanna and her wonderful staff. To end a question, does Eddie ever sleep?
