The hotel is tired and in need of an overhaul, including new windows to keep out the noise from the train station. It’s definitely not what you’d expect for a 4 star hotel.

It is clean and fairly centrally located though, and reasonable value for money at the prices they are currently charging through booking sites.

There are 7 floors and only 1 lift working, takes forever to go up and down as the lift hardly fits more than 5

Parking is super super tiny (a normal car takes 2 parking spaces) and annoying to get in and out due to having to enter 2 different codes and costs 12 euros a day for the privilege

If you get a street facing room it can be noisy in the evening

TV is old school and not smart

I would definitely recommend the Novotel. We stayed for one night whilst travelling home and the room was excellent; comfortable, spacious and clean. It was also very quiet despite being next to the station. The staff were friendly and helpful.

There was a pen on the floor in the room, the baby bed was broken and we didn’t get a new one (called the reception in the evening, luckily we had our own baby bed in the car) and there was a used shampoo bottle in the shower. Also the hotel is quite noisy with the train station next to it, but we knew it in advance so it was ok.

Good location for an overnight stay in Tours

An overnight stay after a concert at the Palais des Congrès, just a few metres up the road.
There is free parking on the slip road in front of the hotel or paid parking behind the hotel.
The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes.

parking frustrating joke!

Parking was the worst! Arrived with NO WHERE to even stop and check in and unload bags , we stopped in front of the hotel only to have a car honking behind us . Drove around again and saw Novotel on the underground parking sign . Tried getting in there but needed an access card . Pushed the button only to have someone say something in French as I spoke English to them . Second time , same thing . An angry man behind finally got out of his car and let us in with his code . We where only stuck again at the garage door button . The same angrier man had to let us in there also . Drove around only to find that the hotel only had like 12 spots and 4 had their construction and storage crap in them . The receptionist gave us the wrong code to get out ! So stuck again .The person honking behind us had to let us out ! Felt so bad after this all happened and wished I'd stayed elsewhere . Sent the wife to get info . The person said there was parking across the street . Which we never found . Ended up in the terminal parking lot and toted bags from there . Wasted an hr with the whole ordeal and so spoiled my mood . The guy receptionist never even said sorry . Such a joke on making me feel welcome and apolagtic . Wouldn't stay here again because of how upset I was about the whole experience .

My biggest complaint is the cleanliness of the hotel. My room was large but very dirty and the bathroom smelled. Even after having it cleaned the next day, it still was dirty. The internet worked fine until the weekend.

Mosquito Problem!

The hotel will be good after the mosquito problem is addressed. They only come out at night. They live in the AC and there are lots of them. It is not a new problem as I realized that the little marks on the walls were squished ex-mosquitos. The first night we both got over a dozen bites. To survive, keep the AC on high and the lights on. However, the sound of the neighbors slapping at the walls may wake you. Otherwise, the hotel is convenient to the station but loud if the windows are open. The staff is nice but should issue fly swatters with the room keys.

This really is not a four star hotel.

The room smelled damp from some previous leak in the ceiling. There were smoking rooms on the corridor, which meant that the smell of cigarettes permeated our room too. Very noisy, with doors banging and general business at 6 in the morning. We were at the end of the corridor, so I imagine this would be worse for other rooms. Bathroom was not especially clean - hairs in the bath tub.

Stayed here 15 years back with our kids when this was a Holiday Inn. Great location, great staff and super clean room, absolutely 4-star plus. Good breakfast and 15 min walk to old city center. Close to shopping and a Macdonalds (in case all other food choices fail). Enjoyed 4 nights at this base for Loire Valley excursions.

While the hotel is very close to the train station, which was very convenient, it was older and not very appealing. The rooms were acceptable but not a place you would want to spend any extra time. The first room we were assigned had a carpet that had large patches and the bathroom sink was cracked. We asked to be moved. The second room had an air-conditioning unit that didn't work so we had to move again. The third room was ok but had absolutely no comforting effects.
Breakfast was included but other than the pastries, there wasn't much to choose from.

Don't be fooled by the photos of the smart entrance!
An awful hotel! Rooms from a 1980's horror movie complete with black mould!
Shower was so poor I think it would be better with a watering can!
We were moved rooms as air con non existent but new room the same!

Clean modern hotel ideally located in Tours centre

Stayed on the 7th floor, superior room. It overlooked the train station but was not disturbed by any noise overnight. A few announcements could be heard around 7-8am but otherwise a good night's sleep was had.
Breakfast was good, with a selection of hot and cold items, fruit, yogurt, croissants, eggs, bacon, etc. as well as fruit juice and as much coffee as you could drink. Secure underground parking was useful as all the (free) spaces outside hotel were taken when we arrived.
Air con in the room was a blessing as the temperature had reached 39 degrees in Tours that day!
After dinner we returned to the hotel for a drink but were disappointed that the bar seemed to be closed - no staff around- at only 10pm.
Nice spacious room and clean bathroom.

The bedroom was a good size, but the decor was very tired.
The bath was chipped and the shower door over the bath leaked onto the tiled floor. The basin although clean had seen better days.
Having said this the staff were helpful and the breakfast offered plenty of choice.We would probably stay again as the hotel offered secure parking and was easy to find.

Comfortable, convenient hotel

This is a former Holiday Inn overlooking the train station, so the room size conforms to American standards and the bath is good-sized. I asked for a room away from the station overlooking the street and found it very quiet. The tourist office and pick-up point for tours of the Loire Valley are a five minute walk away. There are plenty of eating options within the area. The room service I ordered from the hotel restaurant was astonishingly quick and tasty. Sheets are not changed daily if you are staying multiple nights. (I was there four.) Unlike many French hotels, the TV carried BBC and CNN for English speakers. Very satisfactory.

Tours was only one stop on my trip so I had trains to catch as a result I looked for a nearby hotel and it could have not been nearer. Having walked of the train and exited via the side entrance the hotel was in front of me.

It is a fairly new built hotel and my room was one of few with a balcony. The room was also adapted for wheelchair use which resulted in there being a big bathroom and very spacious room.

There is a breakfast provided but I did tours of the Loire castles and just went to the excellent bakery near the tourist information. The tours leave from outside the tourist information which is 5 minutes walk away. There is also room service and a restaurant.

Everything was clean. The walk to the city centre is about 10 minutes. Finding a food shop proved a bit tricky but I did find a Carrefore eventually.

I did hear nothing from my surrounding rooms.

Good but sauna not recommended.

Nice and clean in general. Right next to the train station could be noisy. The sauna is only big enough for 2 person and it doesn't heat up, there's no shower facility to go with the sauna which is kind of ridiculous, I had to bring the bucket back to my room to fill up with water for sauna usage!
However I had a nice stay.

Great hotel, great location

We only stayed one night at this hotel as Tours is one of our stops for our road trip from the Netherlands to northern Spain. It is located next to the train station of Tours but we didn't really find it to be a problem. There is a paid hotel parking but you could also park on the street for free. We were lucky to find one right at its doorstep. The city center, main attractions and the old city are 10-20 mins away by foot. The staff is friendly and spoke English. When we checked in, they gave us a room which wasn't clean yet but they quickly found us another one. The rooms are very clean and quite spacious. There were three of us in the room and even then there was enough room to move around. The bathroom is spacious and clean but there's no shower curtain or partition so prepare to turn the bathroom floor into a wading pool when you take a shower. Good thing is that the toilet is separated by a wall so it doesn't get wet. It is disappointing though that they didn't put three towels in the bathroom. Wifi connection is very good. All in all, it's a great hotel.

This hotel is centrally located behind the train station; Le Theleme was the best meal we ate in our 10 days in France, but this hotel did not tell us about it even though we asked. Another nearby hotel gave us the recommendation. I would stay here again, it was clean and the price was right

A good hotel in a good area.

We had 3 rooms for 3 days. Two of the rooms did not have working AC. The occupants of the 3rd room were moved to another room in order to have AC. The hotel was satisfactory otherwise. It was easy to find and easy to park. The bar offered a nice place to mingle and play cards for our group. We toured Chambord, Chateau D'Azay Le Rideau and Gardens of Villandry. Also went to Gien for pottery but not worth the drive.

The hotel looks very modern and up to date on the outside but has not been kept the same on the inside. The air condition was broken down and we could not keep the window open as the hotel is direct neighbour to the rail station, so we have been waken by all the announcements. There were permanent stains and other damages in the bathroom and the extra bed (we were three adults staying there) was extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast was extra and costed 18 (!) Euros. We skipped that....So location is central and good but the rest...well 2 stars...

the alliance hotel is in a great location. The staff were friendly and, if you are cycle touring it has excellent bicycle storage. Breakfast is extensive and good value. The limited free wi fi was quite disappointing, not allowing us to post photos or to post our travel blog.

Nice hotel.

Having read the mixed reviews of this hotel I was pleasantly surprised. It's located right next to the station so was very convenient for me as the car hire drop off is right next to the hotel. The rooms were big, clean and very comfortable. We skipped breakfast in the morning however as it was very expensive (double the cost of the excellent breakfast at the Ibis a few hundred yards down the road).

I booked a room on Hotels.com and they gave me a room facing the train station. There was a constant barrage of train announcements that I could not drown out. I wanted to stay another night in town, so I asked for a new room. After letting the staff know about the problem, they guaranteed me the same rate as Hotels.com and put me in a Superior Room. Overall satisfied, though the website says that they have safes in the rooms. Not true.

We booked a '4-star' hotel for our family of 3 and were given a triple room over the entrance. We could hear (with all windows closed) all announcements from the station as well as people talking in the car park 20 metres opposite. We asked for another room but were abruptly told that all triple rooms were the same.

Hotel was easy to find and right next to the station so convenient for trains to the chateaux. Station was too close. We could hear the trains and even the platform announcements from 05.30 to midnight. Luckily it was cool so we didn't have to open the windows much. Room was fine with new looking carpet and comfortable bed but the bathroom was disappointing with traces of mould in the shower area. Shower was very temperamental and the bath took an age to fill and empty.
Good TV with reasonable choice of free French TV channels and great to have a safe and a kettle. No minibar though and we were expecting there to be one.
Staff were pleasant.
We had one meal in the hotel restaurant and it wasn't great.
Hotel is used by tour groups so there was occasionally a wait for the lifts.

Excellent option for a couple or small family.

We had an excellent experience. The hotel is four star quality and is well-located. We rented a family room so the hotel staff provided an extra bed for my son at no additional cost, which was very comfortable.

Tours itself was dead this time of year but was a perfect one-night stop between Paris and La Rochelle.

The location of the hotel was perfect. We were using it as our base to visit the chateaux in the Loire Region. Unfortunately, the first night was impossibly hot and the air-conditioning couldn't handle the heatwave that had struck the area that day. Both our rooms had the aircon set at the lowest tempreture and highest fan speed for all 3 nights. The standard room was surprisingly big, with built-in safe and TV. However, there was no refrigerator/minibar and the silicon around the bathtub was turning pink with dark patches, a sign that mould was present. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Lastly, the hotel charges a \"City Tax\" of €1.90/person/night, a common practise; but wasn't on the booking.

2 minute walk from Train Station.
Room has 220 electrical outlet for N. American applicances.
Problem at check out: room was fully prepaid at Expedia.com. But they said I had to pay for the room. Luckily, I had a printout of the confirmation from Expedia.com that indicated the room was fully paid. It still took 15 minutes to clear that up.

We were in Tours to tour some chateaux and found the hotel online. While convenient to the Gare, there were no rental car agencies nearby and nowhere very close for breakfast, since the hotel was overpriced and breakfast was not included. Breakfast at the hotel was way too expensive for that caliber hotel. In the future I would try to find a family operated bed and breakfast near some of the chateaux.

Good base from which to explore the chateaux region

The hotel was located right beside the main train station (however we didn't notice noise from the station unless the window was open - which wasn't required as the room was fully air conditioned). The room and hotel public areas were extremely clean, and the only fault in the room was the showerhead which had calcium buildup. The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Parking was available under the hotel for a standard charge per night which was convenient.

Nice hotel. Our only complaint concerns the design and operation of the shower. The shower head sprayed water in all directions and the glass partition (which covered only about 1/3 of the length of the tub) did not contain the water in the tub, creating a dangerously slippery bathroom floor.

Location is great....very comfortable rooms..very warm and cosy. The only fault with this hotel is that the breakfast at 18 euros is way over-priced and really not that nice.. I would recommend this hotel if you want something fairly well priced in good location... THere is nothing luxurious about it but it is quite pleasant.

Bon séjour de 1 nuit pour le travail. Je recommande cet hôtel, seulement il faut s’attendre à du bruitage venant de la circulation côté rue. Déçue par le manque d’accompagnement par le personnel à l’arrivée dans l’hôtel. Sinon rien à dire côté petit déjeuner qui est très bon avec un large choix mais également côté propreté rien à dire tout est propre que ce soit au sein de l’hôtel et dans la chambre.

Un seul oreiller… une première ! Très froid dans la salle de petit déjeuner. Et plus de gel douche dans le flacon de la douche….

駐車場は個別スペースなので良い。出口は狭く、ゴミ箱が置いてあったため、かなり出にくかった。それがなければ評価はMAXでした。

Simple et efficace … lit bébé sans supplément .
On aurait apprécié d’avoir plus que 2 chaînes télé , mais bon …
Tout le monde a bien dormi et on n’entendait pas les voisins . La est le principal

Service de petit déjeuner nul, nous sommes arrivés 1 mn à 10h01 avant la fin du service 10h , le personnel a remballé devant nous toutes les viennoiseries et boissons en refusant de nous servir !!!
