Great location and friendly staff, combined with a fantastic rooftop restaurant for breakfast.
The room could do with a bit of maintenance, but overall a very enjoyable stay.

Overall hotel was nice clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful but some front desk staff were little forceful on offering excursions and private taxi service in €uro which was a LOT more expensive than paying in Lira and didn’t like it when i declined the offer.

Housekeeping and breakfast staff were Amazing.

However VERY disappointed with the fact there was no mention on expdia that there is NO LIFT in the property. It was difficult to climb up and down 2 floors for me as a person with mobility issues.

Great boutique hotel. Walking distance to many attractions in İstanbul.
The staff is awesome and friendly. There is a private shuttle to and back to an awesome fish and meat restaurant called Yildizlar Restaurant. I recommend going there to experience Bosphorus dining.
The free breakfast served at the terrace on the roof is cherry on top. Not all hotels in the area offer that. The view is beautiful and Yurkish breakfast items are fantastic.
Hard on cars, but they have parking compared to many other hotels. Taxi service is available. Don't be scared of the two-way hill-y roads where one car barely fits, but they find a way to make it work although sometimes one car has to back out.
Easy access to restaurants of the area and convenient stores. You can safely walk out at night as the cafes and restaurants stay open till 4 am
We would go back there if we ever visit the area again.

The hotel itself was fine...few things i feel it wasnt up to .. the stairs are very narrow and steep....very scary to go up and down and with a suitcase its even worse.
The mattresses definately need replacing as the metal springs poke through when you lying down.
Breakfast i not very international and only local teas available.....staff was friendly.

Loved the roof top deck with great breakfast and views. Staff was delightful and always willing to help. Location was great. I would recommend the owner stay away from the property and allow his staff to do their great work. He was surly and rude to both customers and his employees

Terrific hotel & location!

Excellent long term stay in very clean and new 2br condo with kitchen for our family! Hadir is a great friendly owner that made us very welcome as he is always available, professional and knowledgeable and so is his attentive staff. Nice breakfast was included and served on the beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. Safe and quiet location is superb with Hagia Sofia and sites in easy 5 mins walking distance. Also Sultanahmet tram is right there just in case for easy access to anywhere. Would definitely stay here again.

The only thing that was nice about this hotel is that when you climb upstairs in a 6 to 7 floor spiral stair case you come to the top of the roof and you get to see the ocean view from far, I would have to say it also had a good sea air breeze. The things that I disliked about this hotel was that there was no elevators so this place is definitely not the spot for handicapped people. Every room is 3 or more stories high so you have to take all these stairs to reach your room carrying your luggage. The stairs are steep on framed with marble flooring so any slip can send you to a major injury or your death bed! The rooms are not the cleanest and accommodations are not so fulfilling. I really would not recommend this place for a stay. This hotel or should I call hostel is placed in rubbish and run down area.

Avoid this so called hotel

Photos are so misleading! It’s in a ruined alley and it’s an old building turned into a something that they call a hotel. Felt so bad when I got there. It was too late to cancel.
No elevators and steps are so narrow; so good luck taking your luggage up 4 floors. It should have never got the certification of operating as a hotel to begin with. They advertise as free parking to come up on search tools, but there is no parking. It’s street parking! Very very overpriced. With the same price you can get an actual hotel not this sham. In one word; AVOID

We ordered 2 rooms and they told us they didnt have 2 rooms so we stayed with 4 people in 1 room. Terrible location it was like a ghetto or something. We saw the photos of the skyline on internet so we go to the upper floor and saw litterly only buildings and no skyline or the sea. We went sick after de first night. When we ordered food the deliveries said also what this place is and they said also i wouldnt even stay here for 10minutes. The lession for me is i will pay 100 euros more per person for a better hotel if they offer me free room i dont go there again!

Good points are the views from terrace, when having breakfast. Breakfast was very good, although its the same items every single day. The location was excellent but its in a very run down area. We had 2 very tiny rooms next door to the actual hotel, i got 3 kids it felt over-crowding. Staff tried their best. They need to modernise it.

It was a very amazing place to stay. Out from the traffic and noise during night, so we can fully rest in peace. Very calm place and close to the sea and also there is a lot of cheap shop to buy snacks.The room is so nice and neat, plus I love the colour inside. Recommended to everyone !

Perfect location in Istanbul for great price

Excellent location, in the heart of histotic Istanbul, in Sultanahmet, only five minute stroll to Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cisterne, Blue Mosque, ten minutes to Topkapi Palace, 15 minutes to Grand Bazat. Conveiniently connected by tram T1 for almost all other major sites of Istanbul. And the view for breakfast from the rooftop terrace is magnificent.

Small price great views over Bosporus

I am not sure whether it is excellent training or the staff truly is so helpful and friendly - for me the service was excellent, from the airport transfer they organised to check in, very decent breakfast with an amazing view and the comfortable beds. Yes, the local street is not a well looked after boulevard, but the local main street is a few steps aways so no traffic or noisy close to the hotel. Would recommend to anyone who does not look exclusively for brand named hotels but hospitality that is sometime lacking in much more expensive hotel.

Great location, friendliness and cleanliness

The staff speak fluent English and are very welcoming with their warm Turkish hospitality and hot Turkish tea! The reception area and rooms are very modern and clean. If you have mobility issues, you may have trouble getting to breakfast (which is delicious) as it’s on the top floor. We did have an issue with ants 2 nights of our stay, but the hotel staff handled it. Awesome location, minutes from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia.

great location and great value

A warm welcome with a refreshing turkish tea is the perfect start after a long journey. The rooms are very compact but the beds are comfortable and the rooms have everything you need and are very clean.
Breakfast is served in the rooftop area with views over the sea.
And the icing on the cake is that it is only 5-10 mins walk from the key sites of Topkapi palace, Sophia Hag and the Blue Mosque. And there are plenty of restaurants just a few minutes away.

I chose this hotel believing that I would find what I saw on Expedia but alas, I was seriously disappointed. Firstly, the staircase was terribly designed almost felt like I was climbing a tree. Secondly, the hotel is located in the thick of an ancient neighborhood which makes it unattractive for someone wishing to take a stroll after a busy workday. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to someone traveling to Istanbul on business.

I stayed 3 nights in the 3d floor double room. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Roof top dining room was quite nice with sea view. Only draw back was small bottle of water in fridge cost 4tl while it was sold 0.5tl at grocery store.

We were travelling together with my friend and stayed for for three days at Spinel Hotel. This hotel is not cheap but we chose it because it's excellent guest rating . We booked a deluxe room but got a big apartment suitable for 4 persons. Unfortunately there was a terrible sewage smell from a bathroom, old and untidy towels, dirty (stained) carpeting and sofa. And only ceiling light - no one table or wall lamp. unpleasant view of a broken fence and a lot of other annoying things. Breakfast also was a little bit poor. And WiFi was free but very unstable.

Meanwhile the stuff was pleasant and kind - both at the reception and at breakfast terrace.And a view from the roof terrace was wonderful.

I had a great time, the staff were all incredibly kind and helpful, and the area was very close to the old city and walking distance to many attractions. The room size was small but it was clean and felt modern and fresh. The small thing I would like to add for possible improvement is the breakfast (although great and was nice to eat on the rooftop terrace) was missing a main component, it was just small snacks. But I had an amazing time and would recommend it.

Situated in the old town, Spinel Hotel is tucked away in a quiet location within easy walking distance of restaurants and sites. The friendly staff and rooftop breakfast overlooking the Bosphorus were our highlights. If you don't mind steps and stairs and a smallish room, then this hotel is for you.

Hotel itself is great, staff too. Good breakfast on a lovely roof top terrace. Rooms are not the largest but have double beds, fridges, wardrobes etc. and the en suite was modern and stylish.

The street the hotel is on can look a little run down but don't let this out you off. It is so central to the old town and very good value for money.

Die Unterkunft ist nicht empfehlenswert. Das inbegriffene Frühstück sah abgestanden aus und es gab auch keine vernünftige Auswahl. Statt frischer Milch für den Kaffee gab es Milchpulver. Das Zimmer ist alt, versifftes Mobiliar und die Sauberkeit lässt auch sehr zu wünschen übrig.

La posizione dell'hotel è perfetta (stradina silenziosa ma a due passi da santa sofia ), appartamento al primo piano gradevole anche se un po' anonimo, appartamento al piano terra che affaccia direttamente sulla strada e un po' buio, cmq letti comodi, stanze pulite e rifatte tutti i giorni e spazi abbastanza ampi. La terrazza per la colazione ha una vista spettacolare (ma quarto piano a piedi, non lo consiglierei a bambini piccolissimi o anziani) . Il palazzo di fronte è stato abbattuto ed è un cantiere a cielo aperto quindi quando si arriva la prima impressione è desolante . In sintesi albergo comodo ben posizionato e pulito ma pochissimo charme!

Séjour en famille à Istanbul

L'état général de l'hôtel est assez correct, vieil immeuble mais bien entretenu.
La chambre est propre et le ménage est fait tous les jours.
Par contre, et à cause de l'ancienneté de l'immeuble, on entend malheureusement les locataires d'à côté qui parlent très fort tard la nuit et celui d'en bas, nous a enfumé, si j'ose dire, sachant que l'hôtel est non-fumeur il fume toute la nuit dans sa salle de bain et tout remonte dans la notre et envahit notre chambre, nous étant nonfumeurs et avec enfants cela nous incommodait, nous avons signalé ce problème à l'accueil et rien n'a été fait!
Le petit déjeuner est un buffet à volonté assez fourni, on a aimait.
Le réceptionniste, à l'accueil, était sympathique, il nous a fourni une carte de la ville et nous a indiqué les endroits touristiques à visiter.

Istanbul est un très beau pays à faire au moins une fois dans sa vie.

L'hôtel spinel est très bien situé proche de Topkapi, de la mosquée bleue par contre l'hôtel est moyen on avait une chambre qui donnait sur un mur en ciment....

Concernant le petit déjeuner il n'était pas très variés et le personnel pas très agréables.

O hotel, apesar de simples, é muito bom. Fica bem localizado, a poucos metros de caminhada da mesquita azul. As camas são confortáveis, o chuveiro é bom, realizaram a limpeza e troca das toalhas todos os dias. Como nos hospedamos em 4 pessoas, ficamos no apartamento, com 2 quartos, sala, cozinha e banheiro e que fica numa construção ao lado do hotel, mas que não interfere na estadia. A internet era um pouco lenta e não funcionava direito nos quartos. O café da manhã era bom, apesar da pouca variedade, e com vista para o mar.

La proximité de l'hôtel de tous les sites (Mosquée bleu, ste Sphie)est un atout, cela vous permet à pied d'aller les visiter,un peu plus loin à environ 15mn il y a le grand bazar puis le pont de Galata à l'entrée de la Corne d'or où l'on peut faire une croisière d'une heure et demie ,prendre son billet au bateaux et pas ce qu'on vous propose en ville. Istanbul et une ville très agréable, l'on y mange très bien.

Une semaine en famille à Istanbul

8 jours en famille (couple avec 3 enfants de 11, 8 et 4 ans) à Istanbul. Cette ville a quelque chose de magique et l’hôtel Spinel est parfait pour aller à sa découverte. À 5-10 minutes à pieds de Topkapi, Sainte Sophie et la mosquée bleue. Le tramway est également à côté donc pratique pour circuler vers d’autres endroits.
La chambre de l’hotel était plutôt bien, le ménage est fait tous les jours. Surtout, le personnel est super gentil et toujours près à rendre service ou conseiller.
Nous ne regrettons pas notre choix.
