Clean room - young lady who checked us in was helpful and efficient. However the room we were in overlooked the highway-even though the windows were double glazed, the noise from the traffic was horrific! My advice would be to ask for a carpark side room. Don't bother with the breakfast either!

I have stayed at this hotel before. The rooms were always clean and the staff friendly.

The young man on reception was busy texting when I arrived. I had to say \"Hello\" ... Then \"Excuse Me\" and show my license to get his attention to get checked in. He took my licence, finished his text then checked me in. He advised that when my friend arrives she will also need to leave her credit card for any incidentals. He continued to argue with me about any damage would be taken out of his pay if he didnt get a credit card of each person staying (credit cards can decline after the limit has been reached, a cash deposit would be a safer option).
As someone who has worked for Accor myself, I know reception staff should make eye contact and smile as guest walks in and then greet them as they approach the desk. They should check you in promptly and professionally and direct you to your room. I got none of that.

When I arrived to the room the seals in the bathroom were mouldy, the toilet paper rod was missing, the chair was dirty, the light above the kettle didnt work, the peep hole in the door had been filled (so I would not be able to check who was at the door before opening) the pillows need replacing with plumper pillows of higher quality and i couldnt adjust the aircon.

The location is fine for me as I have a car but it is pretty far from the city and may be difficult to get around without one.
Would not stay again and would not recommend to others.

We only stayed for 1 night as we were doing a long drive and for that purpose it was good, but if you were wanting to see newcastle on a budget highly recommend spending a little more

The staff were friendly and helpful. I think the advert and platform(booking .com) was not helpful in that we ended up paying twice what the average rate was which was frustrating($153 as opposed to $85!!) x 4 rooms.
The info on continental breakfast was very misleading and whilst the staff person was very good the facilities were less than basic. This and the after hour food and drink could be significantly improved.

First of all, make a refund at least half of my payment due to waking me up at 6.30am bc of your cleaners next to my door non-stop yelling! I told them to stop but impossible! I left without a sleep and had to drive 3hours way back to Sydney and wasted my time and money! I also struggle to fall asleep the Whole night due to stinky toilet in the room. I only stayed in the 4hours which even I could not sleep! This place is horrible and such scam!!!! I will raise it to fairtraidinf and ombudsman!!!!

Air conditioning did not work and only stayed on one temperature as it was set in Fahrenheit and unable to change or adjust, Unable to open window for fresh air as I was on bottom floor, very noisy next to traffic lights. Thick dust on bed head, sink was dirty , big rust spot on bottom corner area of bathroom wall , only thing clean was a fresh made bed on arrival. Floor was filthy not swept or mopped. Small Bar Fridge froze drinks and food as there was no adjustment on fridge temperature to stop freezing. Inconsiderate patrons at all hours during the night, no respect for people staying or sleeping . Had to pay an extra $10.00 for parking on the grounds . Absolutely disgusting. Place has gone down hill. Corridors smelt , mould in shower covered up with silicon. Shower sprayed water everywhere, had to use own personal towel as a floor mat to stop the water from going out shower even though I had shower head facing against wall away from door entrance.

Only criticism was the toilet/shower module did not contain a hand basin for use after going to toilet, also there is a large step to enter the module which, as elderly couple found it quite awkward. The staff were friendly, which we appreciated. However, we were disappointed to see such a big difference in room prices — $177 on their website, $127 on Wotif, and $99 advertised when we arrived. Our room was on the top floor with many steps and no lift, which was a bit tiring. The room also felt very humid, and the air conditioning didn’t work well, so we didn’t sleep comfortably. The bed itself was nice, but there were no extra pillows available. Overall, it wasn’t the best experience, and we probably wouldn’t stay here again.

We ordered breakfast. Disappointed that only Granola was available and two oranges left. The fruit should have been replenished and the cereal options as people ate. Only white bread available. Why not wholemeal?
I asked for an extra pillow at 2.15pm. Told yes. Not there when we got back at 7.45pm. Then no pillows available.

Check in was good. Good location. Wasn't impressed with having to pay for parking. The room was terrible. Bugs everywhere, toiler, bathroom area was disgusting. The area absolutely stunk. I had to complain to reception. The highway next ot the motel was extremely noisy. My son is in the RAAF, Williamtown and I frequent the Newcastle area. The Ibis Budget, Wallsend was without a doubt the worst place I have stayed in. If there is some incentive for me to return, I'd like Ibis or Hotels.com to consider this. May a free night's accommodation adnd parking. If not, I will not stay there ever again.

No no no! You won’t sleep here. Everything was poor. It’s as if you’re sleeping outside next to a busy street, there is no sound proofing at all and windows aren’t sealed. There was also a constant drip in the bathroom throughout the night but the drip was inside the toilet system. Hallway was also loud. Unfriendly reception. Hotel charges you extra for everything, like parking and even checking out 30 minutes later at 10:30! The breakfast was awful! Not worth it.

I have stayed at a number of Ibis Budgets not only here but overseas as well. I must say that this particular property has to be the worst one concerning condition. It really is overdue to be renovated.

There was no soap in my room so I asked the front desk for some. Unfortunately they had run out of soap with the staff member stating that they had been having problems receiving deliveries lately. That meant I had to go out and buy my own soap. Not a huge deal but not something I had expected to do. Also the TV remote did not work. Whether the batteries were flat, it was just broken or because it was a generic brand remote or not the same brand as the TV I don't know.

I would like to mention one other point and that concerns the emergency exits. In my 2 night stay at the property the 2 closest exit doors to my room were constantly being held open by large rocks etc. I kept moving whatever was holding them open and closing the doors as it poses a security risk to the guests and their possessions. This needs to be rectified.

The best part of my stay was the staff. All the staff that I had interactions with were friendly and helpful.

One reason I stay at Ibis Budget properties is that I know what to expect each and every time. Unfortunately this one was a let down.

Would I stay here again? Most likely but, only after it has been refitted and freshened up. Until that happens it is a big NO.

Booking into the property at 4pm and the room was still being cleaned. Room 305 the “keys” that were delivered did not work on the door, had to go down and fix. Bedroom 1 had no bulb in bedside table, one small watt roof light not sufficient lighting. Aircon had a remote that didn’t work. Three air cons on balcony 1 for our room not sure what rooms they were working but we’re going strongly and some were noisy and we’re going all night. I had booked to rooms 305 and 410.
410 the oven door would not close and had to have a foot pushing it to warm up dinner. Dishwasher top draw broken. We applied a fix. Once working it blew the fuse so we turned it off. These items were major OH&S issues. Area around the car park was very messy. We would choose not to stay in future.

Husband booked us a room without reading reviews first, bless him. While everything in our room was tidy & in it's place, several design aspects/furnishings were either outdated, a little challenging, minimal or altogether absent. I did us a favor by taking a few items to compensate if needed, after reading previous reviews, eg. quilt (no spare blankets in room and heater barely working), extension cord for hubby's CPAP as power points were located further away & thankfully, our own pillows (their pillows were awful). The bathroom could best be described as a closet-sized demountable-like cavity, with nothing between shower & toilet to contain the water & that's after one manages to accomplish the 30cm (at least) step up with no grab bar to assist for safety. Not the easiest for older guests or, having to wear a moon boot like I had to at the time. Very cramped toilet area. Lint/fluff collected in nooks/edges, only 3x hangers on a wall peg for clothes, a plastic cube for a chair, no hand towel or soap for handwashing - just an all-in-one pump bottle stuck to shower wall. Pics shown on website did not correlate to our reality. Located at very busy intersection ~ prepare for traffic noise 24/7. Fortunately, we only needed one night's accommodation and perhaps we were expecting a more user-friendly layout, including what I thought were considered to be standard comforts/items - perhaps this is what $90 looks like. NB - I can not speak of the other rooms on offer.

Overall, the stay was fine, but the cleanliness of the room and toilet was disappointing. It would have been much more comfortable if the washroom hadn’t been stinking when we checked in. Additionally, we found hairs on the kids’ bed sheet, and there was a noticeable amount of dust under the coat. My first stay at this hotel was a good experience, which is why I chose to return but unfortunately, this time didn’t meet the same standard.

Good position, quiet, no outside noise, bed was comfortable, was suitable as we only needed a place to sleep. wasn't happy to pay for parking when not guaranteed to have a place. Wasn't told to after booking and paying, there was a parking fee but for the price we paid it was ok, just an add expense.,
Wall flushing was coming away from part of the wall.
Only 1 light was working. tea & coffee provided but no milk.
stayed for two nights, on the second are keycard would not work, staff replaced. Safety concerns as the fire door was open the whole time, allowing uncontrolled access to the building.

Unfortunately the website to reply our estimated arrival didn't work, so we came well after check in time and no one was at the reception desk. We couldnt find a bell or anything so we waited patiently for maybe 10minutes when someone greeted us.
The main reason for the score was the room was extremely humid and uncomfortable when we got there, so we flicked the air con full fan, low temp, and left for our event.
We returned after hours, 8 or so hours later and the room was no cooler. We turned the AC as low as it could go and struggled to sleep. It took another 4hours until the room felt cool and comfortable and at this stage it was about 4am.
We were going to pass on the feedback to concierge on check-out, however no one was there when we left.
Wasnt expecting much for a budget stay, but expected efficient air conditioning.

We ultimately did not stay. The key cards, to allow entry, would not work even after 3 resets at the front desk. even the key card of the receptionist would not open the door to our room. After he unlocked it with the master key, we found the bathroom floor was covered in water and the toilet seat was also covered in water. then the airconditioner had a continual knock in its operating. As no other rooms were available we went elsewhere and asked for a refund of our booking fee.

We had 4 rooms booked. There were maintenance issues with the couple of rooms to begin with (eg, Fridge on room 224 had mould, basin sink had leaks, room 222 had issues with toilet flush etc) .

Anyway, the biggest trauma for us was on the second night (ie, last night of stay there). As we returned after a long day out, we found some other people in our room 224. The overall experience that the staff had checked one of our rooms out (specially when all rooms were booked under 1 name and invoice) and rented to other people when we had our luggage, some clothes, foods in the freeze is hard to believe. Eventually we only were given our luggage back and another room to spend the night (thankful for that). Worst of all was the verbal abuse our family received from the people occupying the room as we had just stepped, only to come out quickly in shock.

Staff, Erin, had advised that she will speak with the manager, Bianca, by noon on Friday and get back with some sort of compensation.
Unfortunately,no call back since.

Please advise how we can raise a formal complaint and find out our consumer rights here (if any). Erin, the staff, didn't even log an internal incident by the 10am next day checkout time period, which was concerning.
