I stayed at the Best Western Blackbutt Inn in June 24. This was a last minute booking for me and I was not disappointed. From the moment I checked with Karen at reception the service was wonderful. Karen walked me around the property showing me meal options, room location and even organised my motorbike to be parked securely under the property. As a single traveller in my 40s this attention to detail from the staff is what sets the property apart. The location of this hotel was easy to get to from the A1 and also to return to the M1. Restaurant located on the property had a great range of meals. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I highly recommended this hotel if you are looking to explore the Newcastle/Hunter Region.

We booked to attend Elton John's concert. Being strangers to Newcastle, we studied the public transport being made available and decided that we'd have to book an Uber or equivalent. To our surprise and delight, the hotel made their courtesy bus available to all guests for a drop and return.
The hotel restaurant opened early for the convenience of guests too.

Access to the hotel is a disaster. Check in is in the corner of a shop. Rooma are on second floor. Some of them just above a bar. Windows does not open at all which made us unsafe in case of fire. Parking was away from the property and acess either around the building og through a basement, shared with a bar. Room was nice and clean. Small though. Way too overpriced according to value. Wont come back.

Stayed in room 3 which was a quieter area around the back. I was greeted professionally and given my room keys which also activate the lift so security seems good. The fact that the front desk is in a shop was a bit weird, seemed a bit \"country western\" more than \"Best Western\" but wasn't a terrible set up.

The air conditioning was broken and the windows are locked shut in the rooms.. Attempted to call reception multiple times including on my own mobile and hotel phone with it ringing out every time. No one was down at reception either. Made for a hot and uncomfortable stay.
