Good location. The only negative was they said they had all day food and it was my plan to eat dinner at the hotel one night but they said they didn’t turn on the stoves or ovens. So there was never any food in the evenings.

On arrival day, I couldn't sleep because of the terrible noise from the opposite home residents. And some pavement tiles were loose, which also made noise at night [due to echoes as well] . No tea, coffee making, or any refrigerator for cooling as it was the hottest day in Leuven. Nearby the centre. Receptionists are friendly.

It had some great qualities, and some not great qualities. A few of the staff members were as kind and helpful as they could be. The cleaning staff were kind and helpful, and a gentleman who worked the desk from afternoon/night 2, through the end of my stay, are the reasons I gave this property as many stars as I did. Otherwise, there were some not so helpful staff members who made me feel like a burden. Apparently there is a welcome drink at the lobby bar, so be sure to ask for that. It was not offered to me. Tea and coffee in the lobby, free, 24/7. Also a bar and room service. But, so convenient to 100’s of coffee shops and restaurants! The location can not be beat ! The rooms are extremely small, and literally, the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed in in my life, anywhere… takes paper thin walls to a new level. Leuven is charming as can be, and again, the hotel has some great qualities.

Stayed 7 days; very walkable. Many cafes and small shops in area surrounding hotel! The floor we were on lost its AC during 80F weather, but took the offer to move to another floor to finish our stay.
The staff especially Kaat, Erwan and Mo were very responsive and engaging. The coffee maker in the small lounge is the reason I’ll make another reservation; as no coffee making in rooms. Didn’t have the breakfast as I thought 15 euros was a bit high for a continental breakfast.

Great stay and good value!

We booked this with two hours notice, and received excellent service including directions to park our large van, five minutes walk away. You have to bear in mind this is a budget hotel, and as such we found it to be very good. There was a minor problem with the plumbing, which was dealt with efficiently and very very quickly. All the staff we dealt with were friendly, helpful and spoke. Excellent English.

Location is perfect, staff is very good, prices are well adjusted, cleanliness is very good, too. I didn't like the lack of a tee pot or any amenities to help you prepare yourself a coffee in the room. Also they badly need better TV sets and cable service as it is too basic. And finally please use carpets in the rooms as you can hear THE WHOLE NIGHT what the neighbors above you are doing.

The hotel was very conveniently located close to the historic centre of Leuven, easy to find, on a bus route and only about 15-20 mins stroll from Leuven Station.
The staff and welcome was very warm and efficient.
My room, while very clean and presentable, was very small with a tiny shower. here was some noise audible (but not excessive) from the adjacent lift and from the room next door.

Perfect location, price, comfort and quality

This is a perfect little hotel. A refurbished Ibis in a central location with the benefit of parking. The staff are an incredible asset to this hotel, nothing was an inconvenience or a problem. It may be a budget hotel but it is 4* in cleanliness, comfort and quality.

Great location, could do better on comfort

Great central location, although on street parking is expensive. We liked the hotel and friendly service, but have one or two suggestions: net curtains, on a narrow street with another house looking straight in, might be a good idea. The mattress was thinner, of a poorer quality than in other Ibis hotels. Perhaps it's time to renew them!

Centrally located 2-3 stars hotel in Leuven

We chose to stay at Ibis Centrum because of its location, and it was perfect indeed: only a couple of meters away from the city's main plaza! As for the hotel itself: it was OK for a 2-3 stars hotel. The room we had was small, but it was clean and the bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was also very tiny, but had all the things we needed. It would be good though to change the shower doors so that the bathroom's floor won't get all wet after every shower. Like in most Ibis hotels, the walls are very thin, so we heard everything! For our first night it was OK, because there weren't many people staying at the hotel, and the couple next door went to sleep around 11pm. But for our second night (Saturday to Sunday), there was a group of younger people (in their 20s) who obviously smoked weeds from their windows, wandered from one room to the other and slammed their doors many times at 1am. But Leuven is a university city after all, so we didn't complain (we were also students once... :D) The other reason why we chose this hotel was because it has a parking located just next door. It wasn't easy to get into this underground parking (very narrow!), but considering the scarce and expensive parkings in Leuven, we were glad that the hotel had a parking at all! And for only 14€/day it was definitely worth it. The hotel also offers breakfast in buffet style, but for 15€/person it's a bit expensive. So we had breakfast elsewhere.

Excellent location for visiting the sights of the old town. Lovely, comfortable beds and good quality bedding. The room and bathroom were rather cramped, and could do with a freshen up, but the accommodation overall was adequate as we just needed somewhere to sleep. The staff were friendly, cheerful and charming and nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent location as it is in the centre of the town. It's on a busy street, which I don't mind, but the delivery trucks arriving an unpacking at the supermarket next door from 6am might annoy some people. Condition was \"very tired\" for an Ibis - and I've stayed in many. Needs a bit of an facelift, but staff were good and was great value for money.

The staff figured out transportation directions for me when I needed to take buses/trains and walked me through where to catch each one. Nice hotel convenient for Lueven centre

Very friendly staff who always said hello with a smile, reception guy helped us with a guide map of the city on our arrival and pointed out places of interest.
Room not the biggest we have been in but was fine for our three night stay and clean, bed turned down every day by staff.
TV received BBC news. Overall our room was quite and no noise from other guests was noticed.
Very close to the city centre with most things in easy walking distance.

Cheap hotel, well located, great service

We stayed as a group of friends over a weekend. We were in Leuven to sample the local beers.
This hotel is well located, just a couple of minutes walk from the centre (and the main squares). So everything we needed was on our doorstep, whilst remaining quiet.
The front desk service (which was also the bar service) was excellent - friendly, helpful and informative. On arrival, we stopped for a beer and ended up learning a lot about local beer and even picking up a few words in Flemish.
The rooms are very small and very basic, but that was not a surprise for the brand or the price. The bathrooms really are tiny though - just about usable. Would have been no more than a functional experience, but the front desk staff made it memorable.

Good sized bed but unfortunately that filled almost the whole room leaving no space for two people to move around or to sit on the stool as that meant that you could not open the bathroom door. No space to set down luggage. We had to get dressed one at a time as no space for two people.
Couldn't walk down one side of the bed, you had to chasse down sideways.
Bathroom equally small. No space to lay out two people's washbags. Cigarette burns on the washbasin surrounds ( this was a non- smoking room). Even the reception was small as it doubled as the bar.
Got the impression everything was aimed at trying to sell you something more as so little was included.
Compared extremely badly to the Holiday Inn Express we stayed in Mechelin 25km away, the night before. For the same price we had a much bigger room, bigger bathroom, better range of toiletries and breakfast was included.

pleasant stay with Ibis leuven

Did report a bad smell in the bathroom with was uncomfortable. Problem was not resolved but was reduced. Also breakfast on the last morning was poor even though we ate early..no eggs, fruit, pastries, sausages ham or brown bread. Staff reported that food was less due to the large number of Chinese guests in the hotel.. This is not acceptable as the full amount was charged.

The staff are very friendly. Had two stays with consistent experience. Very small rooms, but clean and I was amazed at the low rate I got. The location is very good, about a 3 minute walk to the market square/town hall. No workout room or pool, but I wouldn't expect it in a small hotel like this. They have a little bar beside the checkin desk where you can get a beer at any time. It is too convenient!

I recall staying at this hotel many years ago (2005?)... certainly a different place now, updated and modernized (for the better I should add). Front desk was very helpful on sorting out a few problems with the check-in paperwork and gave good recommendations for places to eat/drink.Free wireless (download speed restricted) internet was a bit slow on the first day, but seemed okay after that (though I didn't try any streaming or VoIP usage). Overall a good stay. Only two negatives were (i) loud bathroom fan, that could be heard even with the door closed, and (ii) the design of the rooms, with \"fitted\" (unmovable) bed-tables and desk means that it is not possible to separate twin beds by more than about 10 cm (not ideal for two big blokes sharing a room...). Would consider to stay here again myself as a single traveler, but would not book a twin here again if sharing with a friend.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was interesting that you could get beer at the front desk on tap 24 hours/day.

This hotel was a very good place to stay. Like all Ibis Hotels, the rooms tend to be pretty small, tiny by US standards - expect that. And I'm not that into décor - rather functionality. It was all acceptable. The free wifi was good too. Two people may be a bit of a squeeze but if you by yourself, no issues. The staff was great, the location outstanding (everything for me was in walking distance). I didn't have the breakfast, there were some options around the hotel, but it looked pretty decent for a typical European breakfast. Personally, I rarely ever find the rates charged for these breakfasts to be of value anyway. So I walked to a bakery nearby and got a start at less than half the cost! It's a little bit of a hoof from the train station (10-15 minutes) but simple enough to find. Definitely would stay here again.

I stayed at the hotel for a conference in June 2013. The location was superb, just one block away to all major attractions and restaurants/bars. The hotel itself looks really new, and is well taken care of. The rooms are not huge, but are nice and comfortable. Breakfast was an extra 14 EUR but maybe it could be a little better for the price. One of the coolest things was that they had beer on tap next to the front desk. And if you want, you can choose from a nice selection of premium beers in bottles as well. Overall very pleasant stay, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a no-frills hotel with excellent cost-benefit and really well located.

Nearly flawless; great value for money

The location is unbeatable; it's literally steps away from everything Leuven has to offer. The only thing in town that it's slightly far from is the main train station, and even that is only a 15 minute walk through the lovely downtown streets. The lobby is attractive, open 24/7, and always staffed by an agreeable and English-fluent clerk who gave us a really useful map of town upon check-in. The beer selection at the bar is surprisingly good for a hotel (well, this is Belgium, I suppose) and they have happy hour from 6-7 - two Duvels for 4EUR?! I'll take it.

The room was super comfortable - it may be a little small by Western standards but we were two and found it to perfectly suit our needs. It was made up every day and housekeeping even called to ask what would be the best time to make it up. Big open-able window let in plenty of fresh air and the elevator was big enough to fit our bags in. We were in a room on the back side of the hotel and night-time noise was a non-issue. The beds were very comfortable; we slept like babies. Plenty of English and other language channels on the TV.

The only critique I have of the whole room was that the entire floor we were on (4) smelled a little of sewer, and the toilet in our bathroom did as well. It wasn't a horrible smell, and it wasn't very strong; we found that if we kept our toilet lid closed and the bathroom door closed, with the window cracked, the room smelled perfectly fine. But it was a little off-putting.

great location, helpful staff, but noisy hallways

The hotel is in a great location, the staff are super helpful, the rooms are comfortable, the price is right, but the noise insulation is non-existent.The last couple of times that we have stayed in this hotel,weI had a problem with other guests being loud and disruptive in the hallway in the middle of the night (loud even while wearing ear plugs).
Whether it is people talking in the hallway, the cleaning crew moving their equipment around (early in the morning), or other guests walking in the rooms above you (on fake wooden floors), you will wake up early!
So, all in all, the hotel is good, but don't expect to sleep in (and hope for considerate neighbours).

The room in the Ibis hotel, Leuven had a smell!!!

The room in the Ibis hotel, Leuven had a terrible smell!!! I was not able to sleep even with the window open. Was it a dog or a cat or somebody else? Do not recommend this hotel!

Would use again

Room small, clean & adequate, Great shower. Very close to central leuven. Reception always staffed - friendly and competent. Breakfast buffet available, which we thought was expensive. Plenty of nearby cafes / restaurants / chains. We would use again.

Not bad

Very conveniently situated. Easy to walk everywhere. Rooms small but clean with nice shower. No noise from the street below. Limited parking at hotel that should be booked in advance. Staff not very friendly. Bit highly priced. Situated close to town centre. Fantastic pubs and restaurants close by. Lovely town to visit.
