Great location that is very easy to get around and see the city sights. Staff friendly and nice. Prepared takeaway breakfast for morning I needed to head off early. Room was big and comfortable. Nice hot shower.

Location is perfect. I was on the top floor and after entering my room there is a bathroom but then 15 stairs to get to my bed. Cute but not ideal if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Place is otherwise fine.

My neighbors were smoking out their window and since I had my window open I had to smell their cigarette smoke. That part of my stay absolutely sucked but it’s not the hotel’s fault.

Breakfast was included and decent enough.

I was told I couldn’t get anything later than a 11a check out.

Perfect for weekend stay

One night stop over in beautiful Leuven

Hotel is perfectly positioned in central Leuven.
The hotel does not have a car park but offered discounted rate at local car park.
The hotel has a small lift to all floors as the stairs can be steep with lots of luggage.
The rooms, were basic but nicely presented. Breakfast was nice with a good variety of cereal, eggs, salmon, breads and luxury teas. The staff were excellent and polite. I had a 1 night stay for business.

The staff were friendly and nice.
The hotel location is convenient for someone travelling by foot. Very walkable city from the hotel’s location.
The building is cool on the outside. Very nicely restored. But it seems like most of the renovations funds were spent on the lobby and having an elevator. The rooms are rather dated. They also smell old, like the building is from 1800s. There mold is starting to grow on the bathroom caulking.
It is a perfectly fine place to sleep and have a quick shower, especially if you are booking last minute (like I usually do).

The property itself is mostly ok and decent for a 3 star hotel, however the huge issue is the lack of hot water, especially at night and in the mornings. I had to shower in what was at best luke warm water in the evenings and mornings. Not something you want when it was a cold 8° outside. Doubt I will ever stay there again

Why I stay in Thater hotel when I work in Leuven

I have now more than 60 nights in the Theater hotel, the main reason is that the hotel team was able to provides me a quiet room every time, and this is not an easy request to fullfill in Leuven's hotel.
I appreciate also the hotel location, Inside the city center.

Hotel is a nice hotel and is in a good location. Room that I was placed in was two stories. The beds were on the upper level. It was ok for me however the steps were step and I wouldn't think they would be suitable for someone that has trouble going up and down stairs. I was disappointed when the hotel lost hot water on a Saturday evening and did not seem to know until I informed them Sunday morning. They didn't notify anyone or leave any notes explaining what happened and when it would be fixed, which wasn't for another day, since maintenance does not work on Sunday's.

The location is very good, the hotel tries to have a style and is very clean. Unfortunately, the carpet is very old and smelled quite strongly, actually making it difficult to sleep. The lighting in the room is also an issue. The rooms have very tall ceilings, which is beautiful, however, because of this, the lights felt very dim and made the room feel dingy, even though it actually was not.

When we stayed at this hotel it was during a period of refurbishment and the number of rooms available was limited. However this did not detract from the service provided and we we allocated a newly refurbished room which was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast provided was very good with a choice of cereals cold meats and cheeses, croissants, pastries and hot food such as frankfurter sausages, fried and scrambled eggs and bacon also available in a hot plate. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we would certainly use this hotel again.

The good: friendly staff, great breakfast (and a really nice breakfast room!), fantastic wifi connection, very central location, super nice building (from the outside)

The bad: the room was a disappointment - it looked very old and outdated (worse than some budget hotels), there was no airconditioning (only a fan), and it got a little warm at night; the mattress of the bed was still from the stone ages, I think - at least it felt that way; it was OK clean, but not great

The weird: I stayed on the third floor and there was this weird life-sized pirate statue, which strangely resembled a \"Pirates of the Caribbean\" character. I cannot even begin to imagine what they were thinking when putting him up there

If all you need is a clean room and a good cup of coffee in the morning, this is the place for you. The staff was extremely friendly, and the bed and bathroom very comfortable and functional. The location in the center of town, a few blocks from the RR station, was perfect. This is a no frills but very comfortable place to stay.

I checked in to find I'd been given a room that had not been cleaned. Beds had been slept in, bathroom was not clean. There is no staff at night, so I had to call the help desk, who then sent someone out to help. It took quite some time for help to arrive - it was late I was tired. I was eventually moved to a different room that had been made up. The beds - even in a double room are single, lumpy, uncomfortable and extremely narrow. I've never seen such a narrow bed and I kept waking up for fear of falling out. On a plus note, the staff are friendly and breakfast was good. I was given a bottle of champagne as an apology for the room fiasco which was a nice touch - but even if the room had been clean when I checked in, I still wouldn't have been happy.

Gets better as you grow to like it

First impressions are not great as you climb narrow stairs to get to small reception desk. So feels very much like a budget hotel. But don't be put off. Rooms perfectly acceptable and free WiFi throughout. My room had two very narrow single beds. Breakfast was included and this was excellent - and set in really modern breakfast room. So you can see the hotel is trying to be a bit different. A concession to the Theatre name seemed to include a life size Captain Jack Sparrow pirate on the 3rd floor landing. Bit of a surprise in the dark. Hotel has a bar/restaurant but seemed to have shut by 9:30pm when I arrived even though chap on front desk thought it would be open (at least for drink) until 10:00pm. But right in centre of old town and so plenty of places nearby. There are other budget big name hotels nearby (notably Ibis) so probably depends on how rates compare if you pick this one.

Great hotel!

Besides the pirate mannequin outside the elevator that scared me out of my wits in the dark, I very much enjoyed my short stay here. My room was large (by European standards) and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk worker couldn't have been more friendly -- she even arranged for the breakfast to open a few minutes early so I could grab something before my early flight.

Hot, Cramped and Dark

The Hotel is in a good position and close to central parking, however this is not Hotel Parking but under the Market Square when you can find it. The Hotel reception is on the second floor and if you get rooms on the 3rd floor I hope you are fit!! This is not a hotel as such but a boarding type house with large room for Breakfast. Don't arrive expecting a bar and food, although there are plenty of places around you but they close at 22.00 PROMPT. The room was very hot, No air con but a noisy fan, The hotel were obviously aware of the issue with heat as the cold drinks from the Minibar were free to cope with the heat. Bedding is not changed daily so on a 2 night stay I had the same bedding, not usual for a hotel nowadays. There are better Hotels to stay at in the city as long as you book early and at the same price and free parking - Parking overnight is 15 Euro, 18 Euro all day.

Avoid this hotel.

We left after a few hours of not sleeping in sweltering heat on beds smaller than cots and mattresses that must have come from the city dump in a room that was simply a drywalled. I've travelled the world, this hotel ranks as my worst ever experience. Thankfully Expedia got us a full refund other than the first horrid night. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Thier location is not worth it and other hotels have better locations for the same money.

Outstanding, smaller european style hotel

The former and historical Hotel Majestic, the Theater Hotel in central Leuven has been upgraded to modern standards, but retains some of the non plastic \"Old European\" aura of its predecessor. Perfectly located near central touristic sites and an easy walk to the Leuven train station, this hotel must be rated superlative in every respect. The breakfast is outstanding, the rooms clean and modern in amenities, the staff ever helpful. Street noise can a small problem when students are \"celebrating\" whatever, and a small lift is available to the upper floors. The views from those upper street facing rooms make up for the noise!

Another Very Pleasant Trip

My husband and I stayed at The Theater Hotel in Leuven, Belgium. We took the trip to visit our son and daughter-in-law who were expecting a baby. They did have the baby while we were there. Anyway, the hotel is very nice. We have been there before. It is comfortable, but the room was very small. There are no drawers to put clothing in, just some shelves. In the bathroom, there is no room to put toiletries, but we made the best of it keeping most of our things in suitcases. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Also the breakfast in the morning is delicious. There are cereals, fruit and yogurt. There is also juice and milk. The eggs and omelets are delicious and so are the different breads. There is plenty to eat (coldcuts also). The breakfast room is bright and very comfortable. The hotel is located in a convenient spot with restaurants and shopping all around. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would return.

the internet connection is hopelesly slow. I hardly managed to access web email after 2 hours trying.
the rom is cold and there are no blankets. The beds are very small.
The food is OK and staff are friendly.

Overall this is hostel/B&B type cheap night stay, and I would expect to pay £40-50 per night. I would rate is well below our premier inn.
The hotel is terribly overpriced.

romantic get away

stayed here with my boyfriend for 2 nights... it's strange that the concierge is located on the 2nd floor so you have to either take the cramped elevator or stairs to get there (not ideal if you have heavy luggage) the front desk was very nice and gave us information about the town leuven and places to eat as well as a map. at first, i was creeped out by the dark red hallway and the lifesize captain jack sparrow next to the elevator on the 3rd floor. but honestly it's all about location, location, location. our cozy room faced the theater across the street and you could open the windows to enjoy the scenery. we spent the night drinking wine by the window ledge. it's a view that even the 4 star hotel we had stayed at brussels lacked. overall, the room was kempt and the prices on their mini bar wasn't exorbitant. you pretty much get what you are paying for. don't forget to ask for a room facing the theater!

Theater Hotel, Leuven is a n extremely comfortable, guest-friendly and well-located hotel. Rooms large, well furnished with a king-size double bed, comfortable arm chairs, minibar, more than enough clothes storage space and a large sized bathroom. Excellent breakfast consisting of a variety of delicious foods served in a well-appointed breakfast room. Staff at reception most helpful and willing to answer all questions. When in Leuven will definitely stay at the Theater Hotel.

Enjoyed our stay thoroughly once we were moved from room no. 11. Unfortunately we had to stay in this room for our first night as hotel was full. Room no. 11 has a view of roof tops and a fire escape the window is frosted and you cannot see out , you don't even know what the weather is like. Room no. 11 and possibly room no. 12 are like 2 rooms stuck under the stairs, not suitable if you want some kind of view. Other than that hotel was fabulous great location, great staff and fantastic breakfast.

Great location to enjoy the sites and nightlife of Leuven. Very friendly staff. Public parking within two blocks. The bathroom tile has some cracks...bathroom was quite small. Room at front side of hotel has large windows that open to busy street...nice view of the theater. Close to the large university...makes for lively but noisy atmosphere at night. Great area to sample Belgium beer...try the Domus brewery restaurant two blocks from the hotel...the \"NostroDomus\" brew was outstanding!

We booked this hotel for our last night in Europe before flying out of Brussels and were delighted with the location, the comfort of the room, the friendly staff and the wonderful breakfast. A great alternative to staying in Brussels and it is only a 12 minute train ride to the airport (though we drove our rental car which took about 45 minutes due to traffic).

Great location in the centre of the historic city. Great staff, friendly, helpful and attentive. Good breakfasts in the bright, spacious Art Gallery room on the first floor, overlooking the main St. Rooms are not large but adequate with space for luggage. Bathrooms have been nicely updated. If you are a light sleeper or have an early appointment ask for a room at the rear of the hotel. The view may not be great but you will avoid the late night enthusiastic revelers. Leuven is a big University city!!!!
We can recommend the Theater Hotel.

Small hotel, close to the center of town

The Theater Hotel is on the main street that leads from the train station to the cathedral, right across the street from the city theater. Close to everything in the heart of the town, this is a boutique-style hotel with a small number of rooms and excellent service. A full, warm breakfast every day and a goodly sized room. Very good value for money. Guests with a room on the third (highest) floor get to enjoy the life-size statue of a pirate at the top of the stair and lift.

Great location two blocks from the town Centre. Breakfast was good as was the free internet and televison. They even had ESPN Amerika which shows NFL games on Sunday and Monday (but very late due to time zone differences). Room was small and beds were average and very small (think bunk bed size).

Mooi gesitueerd tegenover het theater. Ontbijt ruim van opzet. Mooie ruimte ook met afbeeldingen van voorstellingen. Nette bediening die graag een babbeltje maken.

At the heart of the city

Perfect stay at the heart of Leuven.

Warm welcome and very well-sized room in a little outdated hotel (I presume it is a historical bulding).
Restroom was also spacious and spotesly clean.

Breakfast was served in a beautiful high-ceiling room overlooking Leuven main street (definitely they should be using that hall more!).

Very happy. Everything fine (personnel, superb location, breakfast, cleaning, wifi, free water everyday). Only a small safety box was missing in my room.

Ruime kamer en de locatie is perfect, je bent gelijk in het centrum. Ontbijt vond ik niet speciaal maar wel gewoon prima en de kamer was wel gehorig. Verder een fijn verblijf gehad!
