the whole time we was in the room there was a water dripping sound from the roof CONSTANTLY - we made the staff aware of the issue and unsurprisingly they had already been made aware of this problem and were only able to change our room to the room next door with the same problem - my main question being why would they let any customer stay in these rooms - I ADVISE TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SIXTH FLOOR.

We were very disappointed with our stay. As soon as we arrived, the front desk gentleman was quite rude. Although the other staff were very friendly. Our room looked very different from the pictures. It was smaller and the hotel had more of a hostel feel. The sheets had spots on them and there was mold on the ceiling and in the shower. Everything just felt a little grimy and worn. There was also no proper hair dryer, the heater made weird noises, and it was quite damp in the room. To make things worse, the ceiling started leaking water onto our bed from the light fixture after a heavy rainfall on our last night. I understand this is a lower budget hotel in Paris but some things are inexcusable.

The staff make this hotel, the professional and polite approach is really appreciated.

Everything was fine with the hotel, my only negative is that it would be great if the room doors didn't slam shut - the noise from them at night is a little intrusive.

Location is spot on, very easy to access the Metro network and a bus stop outside. Taxi services are readily available through reception.

The rooms were a little more spacious than expected, though the bathroom is predictably small. Totally adequate though and clean/comfortable.

I would stay here again.

High quality for a modest hotel in Paris. I did miss a lounge for those who wanted a space other than the small, but adequate rooms.
Sometimes, going to a bar or restaurant was not always wanted.
You could offer wine or just water. I hope you seriously consider this idea. Carol Porter, American traveler.

I came here for my birthday celebration! It was in a perfect location, walkable and great eateries/cafes in the neighborhood. Coming from America, the bathroom and shower were tight! But none the less it was a decent size for two people. Enjoyed my stay and would 100% recommend the area (11th Ard) to stay in Paris.

Great hotel in a really good location, close to the Metro and not too far out of the centre of Paris. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a little on the small side, but it was clean and air-conditioned. The room had a UK plug socket along with all the regular European sockets, which was a nice touch for UK visitors.
I'd recommend taking your own hairdryer, as the one included in the room is a wall-mounted hose type one in the bathroom.

This hotel was very well located and accessible. There were plenty public transportation options and the neighborhood had amazing dining and bakery options within 15 min walk.
The rooms had the basic necessities and sound proof windows. Note that if you are planning to travel with big luggage you may need to reserve the bigger rooms, we were in a room with a queen bed and it would not have been able to fit check in bags. Remember rooms in Paris are smaller than American standard ones.
Overall, I would stay here again for up to 5 nights.

A great little hotel

The perfect hotel for a night or a short few days in Paris. It's in a lovely neighbourhood with lots of nice cafes and bars, and not a long walk to the central areas of the city.

I was on a solo trip and it was perfect for me. Comfy bed, clean, nice bathroom etc.

The room was quite warm and the AC in my room was broken, but I didn't ask to get it fixed since it was manageable so I can't really complain about that! The only other small issue was noise, with the doors to the corridor quite thin - I recommend bringing earplugs if you have them.

Overall, I thoroughly recommend if you're looking for something affordable but nice.

This location served its purpose. Being an American and my first time in France it was a bit difficult navigating the area since this is more a hotel for locals than tourist. However, the two lady receptionists that worked during the day were very helpful helping us navigate the train system and area. The night clerk didn’t know much so make sure to ask your questions in the day. The rooms were small and compacted but I’m learning that’s the way most rooms are in France. Overall a great experience and great day and night life around the hotel.

Great budget option. The room was very clean and quiet, if tiny. There was just enough room to walk around the bed if the pull-out desk was not in use. No closet, but there was a rack and a few hangers, along with a chair and one luggage rack. Bed was comfortable enough. The shower was very small - the opening to it was only about 18”, and the interior was about 24”x24”, which was too small to bend over and wash your feet without accidentally bumping into the faucet and turning off the shower. The staff cleaned daily. AC worked really well. Front desk was friendly and arranged a taxi for us at the end of our stay.

This hotel is a gem! I stayed at Hors les Lumières in late April 2024. I’m a woman in my mid-twenties, solo-traveller, and the 9th is a great area to be in. I was a bit nervous about my stay bc it’s so hard to gauge how a hotel is especially when traveling abroad.

Let me just say my stay there was absolutely wonderful. The staff were incredibly nice, attentive, and accommodating. The room and bathroom were incredibly clean, which is always my biggest concern, and I was so relieved when I saw how impeccable it was.

My room faced the street which I loved , and it had AC, which was a life saver as it was a really warm week in Paris ! I didn’t have a chance to use their restaurant but staff did recommend some places nearby and it was delicious! (Plus the metro station is about a three minute walk away) I felt incredibly safe as well, there was always someone at the lobby, and you need a key card to access the floors.

When I arrived my room wasn’t quite ready yet but they held onto my suitcases, and they have a pop-up marche right down the street which I had time to enjoy!

Overall , completely honest opinion I’d give it 10/10; no complaints. Really so grateful; you’ll have a lovely stay here if you’re still deciding!

Really nice hotel, located in a convenient location just a short metro ride away from Gare Du Nord. Multiple metro and bus links to get around the city and plenty of surrounding cafes, restaurants and supermarkets (many of which are open late). Situated on a quiet road in the middle of busier roads. Area felt really safe to be around.The hotel itself is bright and fairly clean. The double room was on the smaller side but was perfect for a city break where it was only really used to sleep and shower. Would definitely stay here again!

Of course it’s Paris ! Never expect a big room to stay. All you do is be organized so you can move around but overall all , it was a nice hotel, the area is safe, many bars, bakeries and restaurants around the area including Oriental restaurants. I needed a place to stay at the last minute and this was available, a comparable price, and well-rated. The place was well-cared for, clean, and staff by helpful multi-lingual Parisians. No problems with online booking, wifi, or payment. Unfortunately internet said AC but our didn’t work (but I also didn’t ask for help so maybe I just clicked the wrong thing). Very small space but the surround areas were 5 stars!!! If I moved to Paris, I would move to this area. Mostly saw Parisians instead of mostly tourists, but close to many very cool walkable sights like Marche De Enfants Rouges, Musee Picasso, Cemetary, other random market, all the bakeries of your dreams, and Metro to the rest :)

This was one of our unexpected pleasures of our week in Paris. First time at the hotel, found it on Expedia. it is located in a wonderful neighborhood, feels like Paris, not tourists. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. A delight to see them each morning. The lobby was bright and comfortable, up to date. Our room was comfortable, modern, everything worked, was clean, and outfitted perfectly. Felt new. The street was quiet, only an occasional motorcycle going by but barely noticeable. Wonderful cafes within 3 or 4 blocks. Next time we're in Paris, you'll find us at Hotel Hor les Lumieres.

Small hotel with 24 hour staff who get to know guests. It was clean, with a comfortable bed. I was travelling alone as a tourist and felt secure there. It was a short walk to a Metro station, a good boulangerie, and restaurants.

The breakfast was okay, not great. Very Good coffee, pastries and fruit. Scrambled eggs were hard and flavorless. Two of three kinds of cold cereal had chocolate flavor which was not appealing.

I would recommend it to travelers and I would stay there again.

Easy access to metro and there is also parking within a few yards, which was handy for me.

You would struggle if staying more than a few days , as space is limited, but for a tidy bod like me, this is a perfect choice for the price.

Good breakfast (extra charge but worth it), clean room, nice linen, very clean. We were on 6th floor but there was occasional late night revelries from people in the street below, didn’t last long though. Very convenient for Parmentier, Oberkamf and République Metro stations. Would stay there again
