This was my second stay at the IBIS on the Arnulfstraße, and I was disappointed. Due to surgery, I was in a room for the handicapped, which was large, quiet, and comfortable UNTIL the fire alarm started beeping.
Of course, it was night, and it awoke me. I tried to call the front desk to see if I should evacuate. Their number was NOT displayed, and I had to hunt for it. It was in a pamphlet. Imagine being awakened by the alarm and having to search for the number. Dialing Zero did not work!
I finally got someone on the line, who instructed me to push the red and green buttons on the main light switch at the same time. That stopped the beeping. Now I had two red strobe lights flashing, one next to my head above the bed and the other on the wall next to the door. This went on for three nights, although I reported the issue each night and each morning.
Come on, folks! This is absolutely unacceptable.
They did comp breakfast the day I left.
Next stay will be at the neighboring Nova Hotel.

I wanted to rate this hotel higher, but I can’t. The positives. Warm engaging staff, wonderful common areas and bar. Great location, close to Octoberfest grounds and the Hauptbahnhof. So why wasn’t it rated higher? The room. Very small, with largely ineffective heating and AC. Combined with the down comforter and uncomfortable bed, I found it difficult to sleep well.The tiny bath made the overall function of the room lacking. Would I stay there again? Not if I had other options.

Good location!

I’ve stayed in many an Ibis hotel over the years, I’m always more bothered about location than anything else and this one is great for that - four tram stops down from HBF, four stops to Nymphenburg Palace, Neuhausen has some good food spots and bars and Rewe supermarket an 8 minute walk away.

Room was fine, pillows a little lumpy and mattress not the most comfortable but at €50 a night, it’s what you’d expect so no complaints from me.

Great - and great value

The two star rating is ridiculous when compared to many 3 or 4 star hotels in the area. Ridiculously low compared to the other excellent quality. The hotel is modern, clean, quite and efficient and the staff are great.

We were looking for sobering closer to the central bus station, so this was perfect. There are a few restaurants within 15 mins walking distance, and a grocery store right across the street. Not much to do in the neighborhood, but good access to public transport that will whisk you away to city center.

Perfect location for the old town and beer garden!

Lovely hotel and very convenient for Munich old town and the beer garden just up the road! The hotel is modern, clean and has enough room to be comfortable. The air con is a little dated, but kept the room cool enough for the summer nights. Parking is limited, but the spaces are large enough to accommodate vans etc. just have to watch the height restriction.

The room was small but it had all we needed to lay our heads and shower after a few days of touring around Munich and going to Oktoberfest. The Tram is only a block up the street offering convenience to the train station and other parts of the city. It as also only 2 stops away from Oktoberfest. The room was very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful our whole stay.

Marsstraße tram line 16 and 17 stops in front of hotel, convenient to main tourist areas and train station. Also good continental breakfast and coffee to start the day. Unfortunately no kettle or cups in room to make a hot drink. Complimentary water only on for first day check in. Pillows too soft so not much support and duvet is thin, ok for summer but not adequate if visiting in colder months. Rooms are small so if you have big suitcase you will struggle.

Great staff, parking horrendous.

The staff were nice but one in particular was excellent when I accidentally scalded myself: he rushed up with a chemical cold pack as well as a towel and a bag of ice cubes.
Breakfast was good (if a bit pricey at 14€ per person per day), and the evening menu was very limited (though tasty as far as it went).
BUT the underground parking charge was outrageous - 44€ for 2 nights! No wonder it wasn’t advertised on the website.

Nice new hotel, in a quiet part of town

Once we eventually got to the right hotel (don't get confused with the \"Ibis Muenchen City\" without the \"Arnulfpark\" in the name!), check-in was quick and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room and the hotel are quite new, although being an Ibis hotel it is a very basic room – no fridge or safe are provided. The bed was very comfortable though, and it was quiet at night.

Travelled for work with two colleagues, rooms were good for this type of hotel, we were on the top floor so traffic noise not too bad. Breakfast was limited but this is mostly due to me being Vegan. There was choice just not as much as there was for meat eaters. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Very good experience at the hotel. We went for Oktoberfest and the location is great, a 15 minute walk from the station, 20 minute walk to Oktoberfest and 35 minute walk in to the centre.
Hotel was very nice, windows were very effective at keeping out the noise from the street and curtains kept the darkness out perfectly. Room was very clean and comfy. Check in and out was smooth and easy.
Only complaint would be the bathroom door being difficult to close due to the handle location.
Overall a good trip and nice hotel.

Modern, convenient, clean, and quiet

I had a few days in Munich and wanted to be conveniently located to city center without the associated noise and expense. This was great, even though it is in an office district, it is directly on a convenient tram line that runs every five minutes and connects to U Bahn or S Bahn. Also a short walk to S Bahn for the train to the airport. The hotel was very clean and well run. I was on the street side so when the window was open I got noise from the street but when the window was closed I heard nothing. The beds are comfortable. The room is very modern and cleverly designed. I guess the only thing I would wish for would to have tea or coffee available in room or even lobby. I had a cold and a hot tea in the evening would have been nice.

An absolutely phenomenal bargain. We managed to get twin rooms at a bargain price. The rooms are on the smaller size however have everything you need, a good sized bathroom and a surprisingly good shower. Manage your expectations as it is after all an Ibis but for the hotel itself and the service by its staff far exceeded every single guy's expectations. Location is somewhat out of city centre but there's a tram stop a 5 min walk away that takes you into town in 15mins. A Netto is also a 10min walk away.

While I can speak and understand basic German, I was struck that when I and my wife checked in, speaking English and heading the desk clerk my US Passport, she then went on to explain what time breakfast was the next morning in very rapid German. I would expect monolingual desk associates in a smaller, non-international city, but not Munich.

We then ordered a light dinner at the bar. The bartender was also the cook and couldn't find items she needed to make my sandwich not my wife's salad. She had to be asked for salad dressing (couldn't find it, had to call on another worker) and had no additional mustard for the sandwich.
