Well maintened, well equipped place. Rooms are small but functional and spotless clean.
I wish I knew lockers to store luggage aren't free but 7 euro per locker per 3 hours in 3 hour in rements. It gets quite expensive to store luggage there

The code didn’t work. Their instructions clearly stated that I could check in early and leave the luggage in a specific room. However When I emailed them about the issue with the code, Instead of looking into the problem they informed me that the check in time is 3 pm. The problem was eventually resolved with a new code. Another customer had the same experience as well. It was resolved and then it stopped working again after a day out.

Due to the high demand for hotels during the Christmas market season and resulting high prices, we picked this hotel even though it was below our regular standard. And yes, it was one of the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. When arriving at the reception, the receptionist hardly looked at us, busy doing other things and chatting with a colleague. When we finally got our room card, we found our room to be rather worn-down. The glass shower doors had not been properly cleaned for quite some time, all opaque because of hard water buildup. The double bed was simply two single beds put next to each other. The good things: located very close to the central station, with only a 15 minute walk to Marienplatz. And I have to mention the very nice and efficient Asian lady preparing our breakfast. She was also the only one wearing a hotel uniform and seemingly taking her job seriously.

We would gladly return, but they need one more window shade panel to block out the bright lights from the street. It felt safe during the day, but less so at night. Location was fantastic, room was clean, staff were helpful and kind.

Air conditioning worked well, breakfast excellent staff both on reception and in the dining room were extremely helpful, when they realised that my wife was mobility impaired offered an alternative room without prompting. We were happy with the room we had, at the rear of the property away from the road noise, would recommend the hotel to anyone staying a few nights in Munich

Very good option to stay in Munich, considering that all cities’s hotels are very expensive . The most remarkable thing of this property is the location , very close to the all main cities’s attractions and very close to the central station as well . Staff is friendly. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Surroundings of the hotel are a little dirty and seems unsafe sometimes . WiFi connection is weak , I think they have to improve it . In general terms I consider this property good option to stay in Munich .

The property itself was great for a single traveler. Simple but well kept. Clean, friendly staff, excellent breakfast (for Vegan, too!). When I checked in, I determined my AC to be faulty, and I was promptly changed to another room. The neighbourhood on the other hand is a little tricky — it is more overrun with questionable characters than I remember on my last visit to Munich 10 years ago. On your brief walk into the old town you will encounter a number of homeless people laying on the sidewalks. It’s not the cleanest part of town. I believe with all of the construction in the area and signs of businesses opening soon they are looking to clean up area, so hopefully this is only temporary. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The hotel was very close to the Hbh and close to the Altstadt. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great. There was no laundry facility in the hotel but we were able to access a hostel around the block that was owned by the same owner and there was an excellent laundromat just down the street. I recommend removing the laundry option from your website with Expedia as it’s not actually available on site.

Great for a one night stay!
It’s a 10 minutes from MUNICH HBF Station.
So very convenient.

It’s walking distance to restaurants and shops,
18 minutes walk to Mary Church and ST Peter’s.
And there are nightclubs nearby as well.

Clean, offers the basic shampoo soap (liquid, you have to squeeze the bottle).

I had a good night and rested up pretty well.

The staff was nice and welcoming!

They have elevators, super plus.

Hotel Helvetia has a sparse, industrial chic about it. It's only steps from the main train station and S-Bahn, and an easy walk to many museums, shopping, and restaurants. Marien Platz is very close. Their staff are pleasant and efficint. The breakfast is excellent. There is major construction next door; but on the weekend when we were there, it was silent. We highly recommend the hotel.

The property is clean, located near public transpotation, restaurants, shopping and tourism. You cannot check in early but they will store your luggage. They also have an elevator. There is construction next door so the noise wakes you up in the morning. We were there 3 nights. The internet is free but unsecured so make sure you have a hotspot. The breakfast is extra ans worth every euro.

There is nothing NOT to like about the Helvetia; it is my 4 th time staying here and my go-to choice whether I travel solo or not. Safe feeling, excellent location and a delicious smorgasbord is available on site; personelle are friendly & helpful. One gets a sound and quiet sleep at the Helvetia.

Absolutely mean and nasty woman working the desk when we arrived who didn't hide her displeasure, for whatever reason. No reason for her behavior. Hotel room was small (cramped) with only one thick duvet on the bed as cover in the summertime. Shower was very small and uncomfortable with no bar soap.

When we arrived the woman greeting us was not very friendly. We picked this hotel as it said it was family friendly and had laundry facilities which we needed. It does not though it still advertises laundry. Our rooms air conditioning did not work well and the shower leaked terribly. We would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for the things that we did not have success with.

For the first time in close to twenty years we feel we were mis-lead by Hotels.com. The price was exorbitant (over $400 per night), and the hotel was not nice.

The air conditioning did not work in the room and it was hot in Munich while we were there. If we opened the windows, we were pilloried with construction noise right across the street.

The room was dingy, no modern amenities. The bathroom was tiny and very poorly laid out.

I've never felt I had to leave a bad review of a hotels.com property until now. The people at the front desk were nice and friendly but the hotel is below our standards and I have a hard time getting past that. It was, by far the most expensive part of our trip to Europe, and it just was not worth the price paid.

We arrived early so left our bags as the room wasn't ready. We said clearly we would return late but when we did (slightly before 11pm), the lady at the reception was super rude, simply because she had to open the door for us. Difficult. She got very angry because we hadn't taken a card etc etc. All kinds of things we should have done... But were not told. How were we supposed to know? Nonsense. It ended in a shouting match. She is not made for the job. Location super convenient so they will always have guests, without having to make an effort, unfortunately. Won't stay again...

This place was exactly as advertised and exactly what we were looking for: inexpensive, basic accommodations, yet comfortable, clean, and friendly. The heat in the room was not working but they found a workable solution right away. The area around it is bustling and a little edgy (the way a city would be expected to be) but never felt unsafe. Lots of great little places to eat. Definitely recommend for the low-maintenance traveler looking for a good price.

Very cool staff and helpful! We stayed at this hotel due to a late train arrival from Vienna and booked 4 nights to complete our 3-week vacay. Our 10:15 pm train ended up arriving closer to 10:45 pm and I was a bit nervous to check in so late, but the staff had sent me after-hours checkin instructions just in case! Turns out that the hotel was so close to the station that we made it before 11 pm and got to checkin regularly.
Like stated before, the staff was super helpful and the place very clean. We did not opt in for the breakfast, though I heard it was very tasty. Very close to everything you’d want to do in Munich! Room was smaller than I expected, but the bathroom was large and well-stocked.
I saw some reviews before booking about the area being dangerous, etc. but I honestly didn’t feel uncomfortable. There were a few older people asking for money during the day (not pushy) on Bayerstrasse, but that’s about it. There are all types of people walking around the area because of the train station being so close (travelers like myself, rowdy younger people, people going home from work, etc. Nothing scary or odd. I used to live in Buenos Aires, where you always had to be on guard, so I think my perception will be a bit different, haha!
After hours checkout was easy. We had to fly home first thing in the morning, so we left around 3 am for the airport. Getting an Uber there at that time was a cinch.
I’d definitely stay here again! Thank you for your hospitality!!

This hotel is located one block away from the train station which makes it very convenient. They have an elevator and the room was clean with a private bathroom and air conditioner. It is very close to tje city center so you can walk to sightsee. I only stayed for one night, it was great, bed comfortable and super convenient.

This place is situated in a very bad part of town. Prostitutes , drug dealers and overall dangerous place. I was told not to be alone on the street at night and not to use the ATM machine because I would be robbed immediately. I stayed one night and moved out early the next morning. I was refused a refund.

Woke up in middle of night with bed bugs biting me in room 202. Even caught one and squished it, with blood spotting my pillow. My son was also bit. Took the actual bug and pillow case with blood to show front desk mext morning. They showed slight concern, but offered no apology. Staff was otherwise nice and breakfast good. Room was as represented on site..But bed bugs soured entire stay and 14 hours later the bites are more itchy and swollen.

Pros: The room was clean. The location of the hotel is good which just few minutes walk from the central station.
Cons: I don’t know why the bed don’t have headboard which made me not sleep well. Moreover there were many strangers/baggers/drunk people hanging around the street of the hotel which feeling a bit uncomfortable and not safe!

Overall the hotel is only suitable for short stay, saying only around 1-2 nights.

Worst hotel ever.

Overpaid for the room I had. The building is extremely dated. There was a water dripping noise that went on all night long. The only thing which was half decent was the breakfast. Looks like Helvetia has paid a lot more attention on their breakfast, hoping customers would leaving happy only remembering the food- but a $20 or so upgrade for \"breakfast\" isn't enough to cover for a poor experience in the room.

We felt a bit uncomfortable walking down the street to the hotel as the neighborhood clientele was not the best. Additionally, street noise could be an issue if you stayed in a road-facing room.
