Basic Hotel Near Strip Clubs

Basic motel, shady location due to the 3+ strip clubs (brothels?) on that block and large number of Middle Eastern men hanging out in the evenings. That said, we stayed there three nights and never had an issue at the hotel or walking to/from it.

Very close to the train station and convenience stores. A Strip Club is your neighbor :) it was safe.

However, my room was in very poor condition.
The toilet lid was broken and had just been placed loosely on the toilet. The cabinet was very old, and the whole room was covered in dirty soot and spots. The bed, however, was good.”

DO NOT BOOK!!! Hotel S16 was absolutely disgusting. The beds were filled with hair and other debris. The shower was covered in black mold. The entire room smelled musty thanks to the shower and the awful stench coming from the sink. The entrance to this dump is adjacent to the door of a strip club. You will be badgered by the strip club staff to enter each time you walk in or out of this nightmare of a hotel. Munich is a wonderful city with many other accommodations. I highly advise you stay elsewhere. Had I not both prepaid and arrived to the hotel so late in the evening after a day trip, I would’ve moved to anywhere else in town. I regret not doing so.

Perfect for a basic short stay

Perfect for a reasonably priced short stop. If you are not overly fussy and need the basics, then this is fine. Power sockets worked, shower worked well. Yep, I recommend this hotel for a one night stop.

I have stayed in hotels, hostels and Airbnb on 5 continents and this was the worst accommodation I have ever seen! No window coverings on ground floor looking into common patio, trash everywhere, dirty, fire hazards. Totally unacceptable and I would like a full refund.

Hotel S16 is great if you're looking for a room right above a cabaret that plays music all night and into the morning. It was listed as economy, so I didn't have super high expectations, but a hostel would probably have been both cleaner and less noisy. Maybe the second floor is better.

I also found a blood stain on the bottom of the mattress in my first floor room and there were four carts of dirty linens staged in the main hallway to the rooms that reeked of urine.

The staff was fine, the greater room area was clean, I just wouldn't stay again, nor recommend.

No heat in my room, besides that it was acceptable

Not the greatest hotel, but also not as bad as I expected. It's probably the cheapest place around the station. But come on, you gotta have heat in the room. My heater didn't work and the towel rack heater didn't work in the bathroom. At least there was hot water and enough bedding.

no heating in the bathroom at all, heating in the room run down radiator which didn't look too safe, regular heating didn't work, furniture looked like out of trash, WC seat wasn't fixed so the holder for the shower neither

I knew the area so wasn't surprised about the location but the photos of the Hotel didn't match at all what the room looked like.

Given some of the very negative reviews, this hotel exceeded my expectations. Contrary to what one or two reviewers have suggested, the area is not run-down, dangerous or full of brothels. It is full of hotels and is just a regular street. However, the hotel is next door to the one strip club I noticed but that didn't present me with any problems and there was no noise. It might have been different had I stayed over a weekend.

Check-in was quick and straightforward. However, the receptionist was busy elsewhere in the hotel when I arrived. A guy outside claimed they had been waiting an hour. I was only waiting a few minutes and I had no problem with this.

The room was reasonably spacious. Everything worked although there was an intermittent problem with the TV antenna lead connection. I needed to move it frequently for the TV to get a signal.

Whilst daily room servicing was OK, the room was in need of a thorough clean. There was dirt around the sink outlet and it sink gave off a foul smell. There was lots of dust in the bedroom. Lack of maintenance and absence of periodic thorough cleaning was evident.

The location is superb for the train station and historic centre and noise levels were moderate in my room which faced the rear. Overall, the hotel is far from pristine but it was certainly acceptable for the price.

Location is close to central station and around 6-7 mins walk to supermarket. Hotel a taff is very friendly and helpful however: the hotel wifi is super weak, we didnt get any signal at all. The hotel area is pretty noisy at nigh, people partying on the street, just need to make sure you are super tired then you should have no problem going to sleep.

The reception area had a lot to be desired.

The elevator was tiny and occupied by laundry. So had to walk up 5 flights of stairs.

The room on the otherhand was surprisingly nice. It had two twins with good bedding. The bathroom was decent but once again a tiny shower... Definitely no room for an amour.

Very disappointing and disgusting.

It's not a good hotel for my view, not friendly and the man was telling me i didn't booked for anyroom here that it shows red. It's really sad that at the end of the day i was not allowed to the hotel, the guy said because i was not vaccinated when am fully vaccinated .i will not advise anyone of my family n friends to book such a hotel never.

The area was sketchy, but the room was nice and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel was inexpensive and close to the train station. The wifi signal was weak and kept cutting out. For a one night stay I would recommend it if you have to catch a train the next day.

PLEASE DONT CHOOSE HOTEL S16 (the worst in Munich in term of safety)

When I checked out, I put my backpack for storage at the counter and the staff promised to look after it, however it was stolen by the homeless people on the street. I have lost around 650 Euro personal belongings, including my passport, wallet and laptop. In general, they have the following problem.

1.Honesty- They lied to me at first when they said they just gave my bag to another wrong customer without telling me the truth given that they know my backpack is stolen already.

2.Ridiculouness- They only discover my bed is stolen after 4 hours when I return back to the hotel at 5pm. According to the CCTV, it was stolen by a guy at 1pm and the counter had no staff for a very long time(there is always no one at the counter). If I return back at night, then I believe they will only discuss if my bags are stolen that time.

3. Irresponsibility- I requested compensation for my lost items, they just superficially and officially said they are processing and asked me to wait. However after 12 days of waiting, they still did not get back to me. I have whatsapped the manager and emailed the hotel, and have no replies. They are hiding from me and escaping from the responsibility.

So please don’t choose this hotel as it is surrounded by a lot of homeless people that can steal your personal belongings and the owner and managers are very irresponsible.

Short walk to trains and Marienplatz

The hotel is convenient to the rail station and Marienplatz but is not in a great neighborhood. Pretty noisy at night with the clubs and bars on the street. We choose it for the easy walk from the train station and short walk to where the Oktoberfest ground were located. The parade for the first day of the Oktoberfest was only half a block from the hotel.

I booked an economy room, so I knew that it would be tiny. It was. That was fine. But it definitely felt like the room also was not clean. To be fair, the bedding, walls, and surfaces were mostly white, so it was hard to hide any dirt (or...um...blood stains). Also, although I had an inside room, I could hear music basically all night, and there are various squeaky doors and floors that make noise all night. It's located right next to a strip club, and sometimes the area felt a little dodgy, although as a woman traveling alone I never really felt unsafe, just cautious. If you can handle all that, it's a great location and a good price. Easy walk to the Hauptbanhof, so it was the perfect jumping-off point for day trips and an easy trip to and from the airport. If you're not planning on spending too much time in the room, this is a pretty good deal.

Although the room stayed no smoking. You could smell the cigarette smoke from the other rooms in the hotel. If you’re not a fan of the smell of cigarette smoke then this hotel is not for you. The pictures on the website depict the shower to be big, but clearly it was too small.

This property should not be categorised as a hotel as it has no facilities. It is simply room only basis although the rooms are comfortable. However, the shower facilities are not very good. There is no shower gel attached in the shower and only a very tiny guest bar of soap. In fact the soap I had had already been used. I stayed here for 2 nights and the first night which was a Saturday I had no sleep at all as the noise on my floor from other rooms/guests was constant all night right up until 7 am. I did complain the next morning to the person on duty and he said that Saturday is a busy night with young people checking in after drinking etc. and he assured me that the rooms on that floor would not be occupied on Sunday night. I do realise that this is a busy street with entertainment going on all night but have never experienced this in the hotel itself. I am familiar with this area and usually stay at the Hotel Royal just opposite S16 and have never had any problems there. Unfortunately for me I could not stay at Hotel Royal as it was a busy weekend.

Location is in walking distance to everything you will want to see but also only a 3 min walk from the HBF if you need to take a train. Excellent excellent service! Internet is a bit unreliable but if your there to sightsee that isn’t a major problem. Great overall!

Perfect for who thinks location is everything!!

S16 hotel is a nice budget hotel for who thinks location is everything!!
You can easily walk to restaurants and to Munich downtown without any problem.
One of Munich’s main train and subway stations are just a few feets away connecting you to other cities (like Dachau where you can visit a concentration camp) and the rest of the city.
The staff is very nice and helpful and my room was well clean every single day.
The room is big and comfortable and the pillows are awesome.
If you plan to go with children be aware that there is a couple of night clubs in the area and the street at night is full of people drinking and talking but nothing to worry about.
I can’t hear any noise from my room. I enjoyed!

The towels we're very worn down with holes, there were holes in the walls with wires sticking out, shower was way too small even for Europe, no AC and maids close the windows and turn off fans, linens sucked but friendly staff and walking distance to Oktoberfest and the central train station. Not worth what they charge.

Old hotel with upgrades. Sink was slow to drain. Shower was warn, not hot and one day was cold.location convenient to marienplatz and oktoberfest. Close to the train station. It is in the red light district so much noise all night. Paid about three times it's worth but went during oktoberfest. This is a 70 or 80$ a nite room.
The staff at the desk were great.
Small fridge in room and only in room coffee maker of the trip, except the hilton.

Not Best Area Or Great Parking.

We never made it in the hotel we called for directions and that was not a lot of help but did get us on the correct street. After driving by the hotel several times we learned they have painted and the building looks different than the photos online. When we called for directions we were told that parking was on the street, which is a packed street and not in the best area of Munich. Closest parking spot we found was 3 blocks away after driving around for 45 minutes. After looking at the area and having to carry all of our luggage 3 blocks and not having close access to our rental car we decided to book a hotel in an area we felt more comfortable staying at and let S16 keep our money.

I booked a room with a double bed and what I got is a tiny room with a single youth size bed and listen to this: no shower or even a sink! Not in the room or elsewhere! You cannot even brush your teeth!

Room is small but clean. Bathroom is very small as the door cannot be opened all when you enter it. But it is really located in the centre and just 3 minutes to the central railway station. This is convenient to stay for a night for another trip next day.

Good for the price

This is really a very very tiny room. I took the smallest room as i am a solo female traveled. And this is 1 of the smallest room i have stayed in.

There is no air-con but they provided an electric fan in the room so it was ok.
The room is clean but really small even for me.

But for the price and 1 night stay, it was ok. No complaints.

Simple but good enough for a short stay in Munich. Very close to Munich main station. We did not make use of hotel-services, but the reception was always kind and the room was clean. We had a room on the backside (quiet, but no view). Wifi Ok. No breakfast is served in the hotel but more then enough possibilities in the neighbourhood. The Schillerstrasse is a busy street with a mixture of all kind of shops and nationalities. Price/quality OK.

This hotel is very close to Marienplatz which is its advantage. Hotel staff was excellent. However, you should understand that the rooms are extremely small. Showers are very small. There are many strip clubs on the same block but it felt safe during daylight hours. Did not go out after dark as we have young children.

Good because it's inexpensive and convenient.

This is not a hotel for staying in. It's a hotel for leaving your stuff behind and seeing Munich, and then getting a good night's sleep. I stayed on a first floor room...it has everything you need with no frills. The city noise does permeate a bit so if you're a light sleeper, opt for a higher floor. On occasion I could smell smokers smoke, but it was fleeting. The beds we're comfy, and shower hot. There was never anything amiss with my stuff whenever I returned from my outings.

Hotel was nice, clean and comfortable. No yea facilities or any of the usual extras you might expect but still a nice hotrl. Staff friendly, only one let down although the location is very close to the city and the train station there are 4 adult dance bars and 1 adult shop so perhaps not the most family friendly but in saying that you do not hear any noise from outside you do hear some from the other guests in the hallway rhough rooms could be a bit more sound proofed. Overall a pleaant stay though.

The staff was friendly and excellent. The room was immaculate. Price was more than reasonable. The location was very convenient to the Central Train Station and all subways, as well as to all major sights. What I did not like was that my room was very small and there seemed to be \"low income people\" that hung around at night.

The hotel was basic more like a dorm room, very small bathroom. No issues with cleanliness or service but the area was not that great. It was about 5 min to the subway/train station and 20 min walk to Marienplatz.

nice hotel near all the major stops in munich!

My hotel was in a great location. It was just one block from the central train station, and just a couple blocks from the main square. There was access to almost anything you needed and wanted to see!. The staff helped out as much as possible on any questions and needs I had.

Small but convenient location

Very small space and bathroom. Not enough hot water. Loud noises, walls are thin. Wifi is slow. Was very expensive during Oktoberfest, but not worth almost $200 a night

S16 has an unassuming street presence but it is clean and quiet and as pictured in advertisements (3 of us). Located close to train, but possibly 'red light' district - strip clubs near by. Parking as advertised was hard to find so we used a parkade around the corner.

Decent hotel, but not a nice area

The hotel was fine except that the walls were very thin and the neighborhood very loud. There was a dog in the courtyard that barked late into the night and the balcony wasn't separated from the next room, so I never used it and I made sure I didn't get back very late because I didn't feel very safe in the neighborhood.

PROS: clean, nice staff-most were able to answer questions. Hotel was represented well online for the most part.
CONS: Location, location, location! Someone should have mentioned that the hotel is in the middle of strip joint row. I read probably 40 trip advisor reviews and nothing was mentioned. The \"clubs\" stay open all night and people scream and yell literally all night. The girls hang out at the doors and carry on loud conversations with people in the streets. There was a strip club DIRECTLY next door and one DIRECTLY across and 5 or 6 more within throwing distance. When I say it is loud I am not exaggerating!! People would just randomly scream ALL night! Not a comforting feeling when you are new to a foreign country.

Hotel im Seedy Area

The hotel room itself was just okay but the experience was horrible. Staff asks for the key on the way out and does not check your ID or even name before handing it right back. This is a huge problem because the hotel is in the middle of a horrible area with strip clubs all up and down the road and a cabaret next door. I felt unsafe and the balcony to our room was adjoining to the whole floor as well. I would not stay again better to spend a little more and be even a few blocks from this area.
