Check in and check out were relatively easy.

Given the proximity to the train station, I was worried we would hear lots of noise at night. We had an interior-facing room with a view of the courtyard and we kept our window open at night and didn't experience any excessive noise, so that was a huge plus.

Breakfast had a nice variety and the staff were very attentive.

Room was very small given what we paid, but it suited our needs.

Property itself was excellent although room provided was very small. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast provided plenty options, however only cooked option was eggs. Surrounding area not great. Several XXX shops and late night takeaways close on same street. Didn’t feel safe. Because of that, would not recommend unfortunately.

We have stayed in three other hotels in Munich. Unfortunately they were booked and we quickly looked for a room for the night bc our flight was canceled. This part of town is not very appropriate for families. Many gentlemen clubs and sketchy people lined the streets. Our room had stains on the carpets and walls. There was a hole in the wall by the headboard. The filthy carpet was not good for my health and the management could care less until I had a lovely person at Expedia help us. If you like strip clubs and dirty rooms for a very high, nightly rate this is the place.

Great Hotel

Excellent breakfast. Choices of cooked eggs, including scrambled, omelette, fried and boiled (with real bacon!). Great selection of foods. Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff. 5 min walk to Munich Central Station platforms as well as hop on/off bus tours. Plenty of restaurant options all within 2-10min walks (including whole world of train station eateries and shopping).

The area directly surrounding the hotel is under construction and not as nice, however, the Central Station is a block away and very convenient. The staff was wonderful. The room was clean but the carpet and curtains were heavily stained and felt dated.

Really loved the breakfast and friendliness of the staff, along with attempts to be eco friendly. But there were some little details in the room I wish someone had noticed. The mini bar wasn’t fully stocked (we didn’t want it, but didn’t want anyone thinking we’d taken anything) and the toiletry kit in the bathroom was half empty (and a half used item was left in there… it had been ripped open). While I loved the overall experience and I didn’t want to complain I wish those little details would’ve been checked. Overall a good hotel and good experience though.

Probably the best hotel breakfast I've had in my life, with super fresh fruit, delicious coffee, incredibly buttery and fresh croissants, huge variety. Also, being able to request early checkin was very convenient, and the front desk was able to call me a taxi on the way back. Location is central/easy walking distance from everything in Munich. Great stay.

you won't get a glass

when asked for a glass for wine, the employee says with a smile that they don't have any, and that there is a bar next to it and plenty of glasses.
This is the first time in the whole of Europe that I have had such a situation.

On the plus side, the hotel itself and staff are great.

Also, there are many good dinning options nearby.

On the negative side, there was lots of construction on the street. Although there was no noise at night, foot traffic was rerouted which made it inconvenient given that we were carrying luggage.

Also, we saw some unsavory businesses in the area which seemed inappropriate for having family around.

Fake charges, Rude front clerk, threats made

BEWARE! We discourage any traveler from staying at this hotel and warn you that you may face charges that you never accrued. Our check in started pleasantly with the evening clerk ( approx 7pm) who welcomed ALL 3 OF US, gave us our keys and confirmed we were PAID IN FULL. The next morning things became sketchy and unpleasant. We had the unfortunate luck of asking Ludwig Wolf a question and when he looked up our reservation he accused us of lying on how many people were staying in the room. He stated that our minor daughter was an adult and that we owed more mo. We became very suspicious and told Ludwig if that was the case to have his manager contact us via our private phone or the hotel phone. We returned that night received no private call or hotel message. We again left in the morning and watched as Ludwig scowled and stared at us. Again no phone call from the manager. On our last day we left as Ludwig was having a conversation with a worker- we again were not asked to speak to a manager and we consider our stay paid in full as the night clerk stated on night one. Approximately 3 hours after leaving Ludwig Wolf sent a threatening email accusing us of knowingly leaving and taking items from the mini-bar. The fridge was putrid and so disgusting we wouldn't even store meds in it so I guarantee you we did not take anything from it. We again asked for a manager to call us. The manager sent us an email threatening to call the cops!! Hotels.com had to step in due to threats!

A normal hotel stay.

Room was ok, receptionist (middle age uncle) was kind and helpful, however the younger one is less helpful when approached during the stay.

Disappointed with their bar lounge though, of the 3 days we stayed only open 1 day, the young receptionist claims he don’t know what’s happening. Kinda weird response.

Breakfast so-so only, previously stayed a street away, their breakfast was much much better with comparable price tag.

We stayed during opening weekend of Oktoberfest. It was comfortable enough and satisfactory breakfast. The hotel is a little dated, showing wear and tear. There were some repairs and building maintenance happening throughout the building. The streets are more occupied throughout the day all the way to late night. There are strip clubs right next door and pubs, so a lot of loitering. Convinient location to travel from, being it close to the Central Station. Walkable area and nearby many places.

AWA is good clean accommodation. The staff were very helpful and friendly. AWA is almost next door to the train station.
Unfortunately the streets around the AWA have numerous adult only venues with large explicit advertising photos on the exterior of the premises showing the entertainment available. For these reasons I would not recommend AWA for families with children.

Issue with door not locking correctly meant if cleaners came in the door was left open! The self closing system is not working on the doors correctly and needs sorting to make this a 4 star hotel again!

Clean, comfortable rooms. Staff was very friendly. Nice breakfast in the morning. Convenient location but it is a very busy spot, lots of construction going on nearby. Despite the construction and busyness our room was quiet, you really can't hear the outside noise or your neighbors which is nice. Never felt unsafe but this area near the main train station is dirty with lots of litter and people hanging out in the street panhandling, sleeping, etc.... Kind of typical for a big city. Can't overstate how convenient the location is to public transport and walking to Marienplatz though.

We had a comfortable room for 2 adults and 1 child. It was clean and the front desk representative was very welcoming. We chose the hotel for it's close proximity to the old town. We did not love the immediate area it was in but it was close enough to city highlights. There is a lot of construction in the are which made finding the hotel and parking difficult.

Excellent location. Close to everything you need. Walked everywhere easily. Great room (overlooking courtyard). Fridge, hair dryer, TV (mostly french/german stations), great bed, AC, great breakfast (they call crepes pancakes), and across the street from the train station (which we never heard the entire time we were there). Two blocks from Karlsplatz. A transportation hub to places like Neuschwenstien and Linderhof castles, Hop On Hop Off buses, etc. Walk through Karlsplarz to basically everything in Munich. Haufbrau House, cathedrals, beergardens. Victual Market, shopping galore, glockenspiel clock in Marienplatz, and Rischak (trust me, this place has TDF treats). Overall this hotel was perfect for price, location, comfort, and staff. LowenbrauKeller (due north of hotel) was excellent too. Area around hotel is currrently under a lot of construction but it never was a problem.
Use the trains in Europe, we found them to be less expensive and more convenient. Being next to Munich Hbf meant we didn't need taxis or other transportation after we got off the train. Walked it with zero problems.

Small hotel, does not look impressive from outside. Room small but very confortable. Staff very friendly. Bathtub and shower. Breakfast with chef cooking eggs on demand. Area a little shady.

I would go back.

I also stayed at nH hotel nearby. Nicer but much more expensive.

Room was small but nice.
If you leave an extra room key in the power outlet to keep A/C on the room service might steal it.
No microwave in the room.
Hotel staff was very accommodating, loaned US to EU power adapters, also loaned umbrellas when it was raining.
Check in and check out was easy and staff spoke English well. The online check in system was down when I tried it.

additional fees were applied when I check-in to AWA hotel. The manager was really rude. Talking to me from the desk when she was with her boyfriend eating and giggling. She told her staff if I don't pay the additional fees I can wait outside of the hotel. It was pouring rain. I was in Munich and I had to call the US Expedia agent for 2 hours and end up paying the 30Euro for not standing in the rain with my luggage. Because of the issues, they don't provide me room services while I stay for 3 nights. Really want the refund back for bad/disrespectful experiences.

Schillerstrasse, very near the main train station (Hauptbanhof) is basically a row of hotels. The area is very active because of the train station, which also makes it super-convenient for transportation anywhere. The AWA Hotel is a clean and quiet oasis, just what you need after the bustle outside. Beds are really comfortable, slept great. Restaurants are mostly Turkish/Middle-Eastern, noisy but the food is fresh, try Sara restaurant 3 blocks away, terrific. Easy walk to center of town. If you want a quiet, professionally run hotel, in a location that makes everything convenient, this one is for you.

Check in was clunky, but thankfully I had a German speaking travel partner who could call them and figure out how to get into the lock box for keys. Odd thing though...anyone in this lockbox could grab keys for any room. And they had mine mismatched, but we figured it out. Once an attendant later showed things were better. Breakfast was done well for the CV-19 situation, and was ok.

Great location, a friend and I were there for Oktoberfest. Close to the train station, close to other public transport. Check in process was easy and staff was nice. Room was larger than expected, so was the bed. No complaints, especially for a reasonable price.

The best thing about this hotel was the newly refurbished rooms and the U-bahn station nearby however the location is in a not-so-pleasant area with strip clubs and relatively dirty street for Munich standards however nobody bothered us...
Hotel staff friendly but they gave a very casual service - don't seem well trained/experienced to us. We were given the wrong room on check in - mistake by staff - and were obliged to move the room on 2nd night. Nothing was offered for the inconvenience. Then we asked for a kettle and coffee in room as \"compensation\" ..but kettle was out of order.. so not even a coffee in the room was possible!!!
Breakfast disappointing - always same stuff: no toast, no bacon - just same everyday and gluten free bread had to be ordered or wait 15 MINUTES to get - so tried calling in morning to order ahead and there was NOBODY at reception till after 7 and 8 am the one day. And until someone in reception was there the breakfast room was in darkness!! 1 day we went down at 9.30am and there was no space to sit!! My husband and son are diabetic and especially my son must to eat by certain time. Annoyed (again) we went to nearby hotel and paid €50 for breakfast. Pity we didnt book a Holiday Inn or Mercure as the rate was only 30€ more a day!!!!
I suggest the young owner spends more time there to make sure guests is given the proper service! I wouldn't rate this a 4* hotel at all. Its a 3* guest house - if only more care is given to a few details
