The room was very strange where the shower was in the open and not joined up as a separate room or separate closed section to the beds itself. We had booked a triple room and felt very strange not having private space to shower so be careful on room selection as this was not shown in the picture.

The rooms are fairly small and basic, nothing special. The hotel is directly located at a main tram line, even at the 6th floor and in a room facing away from the street you could hear the noise and feel the vibrations in bed.

It was special for us to return to the Hotel Stachus. We first stayed here in 1976. After all this time we have returned to Munchen to celebrate our lives together.
Therefore it’s a pleasure to stay in a modernised hotel. The room was clean. The king size bed was comfortable. The room was warm given the weather. The breakfasts were satisfying. Thank you.

The hotel is between the Central Station (Hbf) and Karlsplatz. Easy walk to everything you want to see in Central Munich.

I was there on the last couple days of Oktoberfest - but not FOR Oktoberfest - and like most hotels they took advantage of the surge in demand - I paid about $270 for one night, for a single room that was barely wider than the double (not queen) bed. It was clean and perfectly adequate for my needs for one night. A search of Expedia shows that in a much more off-peak time (not Oktoberfest) it goes for about $75, and I would definitely stay there again at that price. But it’s not really good for anything beyond sleeping; then again if you’re in Munich why would you stay in the hotel any more than you have to?

Overall, we made it work, however the hotel room was very small (dorm room like), the shower leaked outside on the hallway floor since the doors did not seal shut, and there was zero counter space to put our belongings in the bathroom. The bed sunk in the middle when we slept and was uncomfortable. The front staff was very nice and helpful and gave us extra pillows when we asked.

Seperate shower/ toilet shower, can be tricky if sharing with a friend or older child as you need to cover your eyes!!
Very central. Easy walk from train station.
Can chose to have a free beer or wine instead of having your room cleaned!!

A let down - really sorry

We arrived a little early and pushed out of check-in by fellow arrogant travellers who simply walked in front. Those on the desk seemed uninterested to address this and I'm wasn't about to create a scene, so had to wait.

We got off a 6 hour train journey at 13.15 and told we were unable to check in until 3. So very tired we were left hanging around for 2 hours.

We got to the room and found a rather small room and a very very small toilet. The room had no tea or coffee facilities and the Aircon didn't work, luckily it was only 32 degrees outside! (Sarcasm).

We addressed this at the front desk and was told it didn't work but were offered no solution. Other than a larger very noise floor fan. This did help a little but it was like having a aeroplane waiting to take off!

The toilet was tiny and very little space between toilet and shower. On the subject of shower, we had 3 of us in the small bedroom so 3x shower users which basically flooded the room as it had no curtain and was wide open.

We had hoped that the last hotel of our 5 nights was going to be the gem of the trip but turned out to be a total dud. Very disappointed.

Breakfast was ok however.

Other points. There is a fridge at the reception sells cold drinks but I'm diabetic and couldn't see any fizzy drinks that were sugar free other than water. Facilities really do lack. You are on the outskirts of the old town, and stachus tourist area which is very handy. So ideally situated.

Overall not a great stay.

Excellent Family Stay in the Heart of Munich!

We recently stayed at Hotel Stachus as a family of six and had a truly wonderful experience! We reserved two rooms, and both were clean, spacious, and very comfortable - perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city.

The location is unbeatable. Just 150 meters from the Stachus (Karlsplatz) train station exit, it was incredibly easy to get around Munich and beyond. Even better, many of the city’s top attractions were within walking distance. We walked to Marienplatz, Frauenkirche, Residenz Palace, Hofbräuhaus, and the farmer's market. A lot of restaurants too for dine in or take out.

If you're looking for a central, family-friendly hotel in Munich that is reasonably priced, and offers comfort, convenience, and easy access to the city’s best sights, Hotel Stachus is a fantastic choice. We would absolutely stay here again!

Good policy re cleaning of room - ask for it not to be cleaned in return for free drink. This should be supplemented by a bin for recycling on each floor. Basin water had tiny black particles in it - a warning not to drink it would be a good idea. Otherwise a very pleasant stay. Historic centre is only minutes away and the Hbf too.

Conveniently located just minutes from the Munich Central Station. Relatively quiet and well maintained. They posted a special offer for a free beer if I didn't need housekeeping for the day. I was happy to pass on the room cleaning and fresh towels every day and opted for every other. Will look at this hotel again for next year's visit.

Awesome place to stay

A couple of friends & I stayed at Hotel Stachus for a week while we went to the Christkindl Markets in Munich. The hotel was so convenient to everything from the markets, trains, & tourist attractions. The room was very clean & beds were very comfortable. Next time I’m in Munich, this will be my go-to place to stay. Highly recommend this place.

Hotel is ideally situated for sightseeing only 10 minutes walk from marianplatz and shopping area
Staff were helpful & attentive letting us leave our bags after an early flight and come back to check in
Breakfast buffet is worth the extra plenty of selection and plenty of hot drinks to start your day
Room was great clean and good street view that wasnt too loud at all
Maybe could add some tea coffee making facility in the room or is that me being English
Overall great stay at hotel stachus would definitely go back again

This Hotel is quite basic:

They promised to give me and 2 other colleagues 3 rooms (upgraded d ones with king size bed) the only prepared for us 2 /3 promised rooms, for the other it was a significantly lower class) when I approached tge front desk about this issue, they mentioned that there os nothing they can do!!

Main disadvantages- no safety deposit box, no amenities, no hospitality equipment such as drinking glass, coffee machine, napkins, …)

The air conditioning not working, when i changed the room it was only a fan not the heating in 0 degrees munich.

No drinkable water in the room, basically you get a bed a chair and a Tv)

NO LATE CHECK OUT IS allowed!

Advantages:
Location- walkable distance to metro, shops, and restaurants)

The breakfast is not worth the price, it is quite minimal and basic.

The property is clean and they give you a drink if you choose not to get the room cleaning service on a daily basis!

This property is in a good location for transportation, next to two of the main train/subway stations and next to the big market place. The room was spacious and the bed was huge! The AC in the room we were in didnt work which was pretty disappointing, we tried to sleep with the windows open for air but it was too loud outside. You can also hear the people in rooms next to you pretty well..bathroom could have also been cleaned a lot better. Im not sure if it was the water or toilet but our bathroom had a pretty strong smell to it, and there was mold in the shower where the shower head detached which could be where the smell came from. Overall good stay though!

The hotel is super convenient and has a central location in the city. The Marion Platz is just across the street, and there's lots of foods & restaurants. Theres even a red light district just around the corner. High middle-eastern population.The one bad thing about the area is the noise you can literally hear everything- taxis, tram, ambulance, even joggers.

The hotel is in a excellent central location, next to the Karlplatz SBahn,UBahn station and a few mins from the HBF.
Our room was on the 7th floor was large enough, clean and serviced everyday.
Little things like good toilet paper, clean towels if required make a difference but it did lack drawer/cupboard space if you need that.
Reception staff were nice and breakfast at €16 is a buffet style with a good choice.
Overall we were satisfied if your looking for a decent place to stay.

Location was excellent, 3 mins to Grayline Tours pickup, 5 mins to Central Train Stn, 6 mins to famous Marienplatz!!
BUT no.phone, no fridge, no.kettle coffee or tea not even glasses! Not a single hook in bathroom for hanging clothes when yiu bathe! Room wss updated so very pleasant bed comfy , shower ..great! Ivana & old gentleman staff were nice!

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Stachus. We stayed a week this time. Stachus is hard to beat for transportation possibilities and access to Munich city center. The staff was fantastic and housekeeping was efficient and on the ball. We’ve already scheduled to come back two more times this year. It’s our place to stay in Munich.

If you are arriving and/or leaving Munich by train this place is ideally located near the Hauptbahnhof. Stay in the pedestrian underpass and take the Bayerstrasse exit and you're basically at the door. Underneath are several food choices that actually take card. The kebab joint was a favourite. the rooms are clean and newly renovated and the staff pleasant with an easy checkin. I'd stay here again anytime I visit Munich. Great value too. Also, the windows have a roll down steel shutter that removes all street noise so don't be put off by the tram tracks right outside, you hear nothing and the room goes completely dark. I had wonderful sleep quality.

We needed to ask for glasses, so not sure what else is offered. The air conditioner did not work and was very noisy fan. However, we did not complain, so a new room may have been offered. The parking was quite far away and because of construction was hard to find. They did offer a discount to the parking rate, that was great. Was close to many sites. Received a choice of free beer or water for not wanting your room cleaned- very innovative.
