Room and bathroom were very clean and the view was amazing. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The room, however, was very warm. The AC did not work and when I went to inquire, it was not working during the season (early November) only the heat was on. They said they could turn it off from the front desk to my room, but it did not help. Sleeping was difficult as I prefer the room chilly. That was the only downside to the stay. I booked the Palace Hotel in Como based on the photos and description, but it was a major disappointment. The hotel felt far less grand than advertised. At check-in, there was no valet or bellman to assist with luggage, and the reception area looked sterile and unwelcoming. The elevator to our floor had a strong odor, like damp, decades-old carpet, which set a poor tone right away.

The layout of the hotel was confusing, with inadequate signage to guide guests to the rooms or elevators. Although our room had been recently renovated, it was extremely basic and lacked the charm or amenities one would expect at this price point.

The only positives were the spacious grounds and the convenient location across from the lake and within walking distance to the main square. However, overall, this was one of the least favorable hotel stays we’ve had in all our travels—and certainly not worth the $600+ per night rate.

I absolutely loved my room. I loved this location. I have absolutely no complaints except for two small things that would not preclude me from staying here again.

1. Being a VIP member I received a one time 20% discount for food at this properties restaurant. Unfortunately, when I checked in, I was not told that it was only specific to one of their restaurants. I was not feeling a very big meal so I went to their smaller little restaurant garden bar, and when I went to pay, I was told that it did not count there. It wasn’t the biggest deal, but it would’ve been nice to be aware of that upon check-in. If I would’ve known, I would’ve forced myself to go to the other restaurant and maybe just not order a lot of food.

2. I had the most amazing view. I loved it so much. It did look toward the little bar/garden restaurant and they played some awesome music but sometimes while getting ready for bed it was a little bit on the loud side. The bonus was, though that it did not last all night

Overall, I would give this property a 10 out of 10.

The Palce hotel sits at the base of Lake Como which is perfect location for exploring the lake itself or the shopping and history beginnning directly in back of the hotel. The concierge from checkin was wonderful and really gave great insight to the area, things to do in relation to how the weather would be and where to go if we had any questions. The rooms were spacious and I think I slept the best of their beds! We were on an 11 day tour and the sleep I got at the Palace was the best at any of our locations.

If I could give this hotel 10 stars instead of 5 for excellency I would. I have never been so overwhelmed by seeing such a beautiful imposing building right overlooking the stunning lake. This is a lovely grand hotel, you really couldn't get a much better location at the foot of Lake Como. Our room looked directly over the lake, access to the shops and multitude of restaurants took only a few minutes. The hotel had lovely period features, dining room was stunning and our room though on the small side was very cosy, the bed exceptionally comfortable and had more than adequate storage. Breakfast was good and the cleaners did a brilliant job. All in all highly recommended.

We had a lovely 3 night stay in May 2025. The room and service were very good. We paid extra for a balcony view over the lake, which was great except for the fact that part of the lake enters the hotel property and acts as a litter and debris trap for the whole lake. The hotel staff let this fill with rubbish and did not clean it. Spoilt the view and our impression of the hotel and its staff.

Staff and hotel was lovely perfect location! But we wasn’t told when we checked in that there was a daily charge for parking! When checking out we received a bill for 25 euros a day for using there carpark!! In all my years of traveling and the numerous hotels I have stayed in I have never been charged for using there carpark!! Absolutely disappointed in this! This service should be free to all guests staying at this hotel and clearly explained when booking to get there is a charge!
