Property was private and walkable to Ponte Vecchio etc. room for auto if you are driving.
The place was efficient, but cold. No employees really spoke to you, or engaged. Just everyone doing the job. Stayed 5 nights.
Says has bar but was closed for most all the stay.

The hotel is located in a beautiful neighborhood with easy access to downtown Florence. Breakfast was also acceptable. Our room was renovated and clean but extremely uncomfortable. The sitting area and bathroom were on the first floor and bedroom was upstairs. The ventilation was so poor that we had to leave the first floor windows wide open at night but they didn't have mosquito screens and we got tortured by mosquitos all night. We asked to be relocated but they said they were all booked. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but the drain cap was missing and they refused to provide us with one so we couldn't use the bathtub. The building is not equipped with elevator and the receptionist who showed us our room on the second floor, didn't offer to help us with our heavy luggage.

Good place to stay with your family (nice and quiet rooms) and to park if you have a car, but note it is a 25 minute walk to the main areas. However you can take a taxi, the drink desk can call it or download the local taxi app (you cannot drive into the main areas if you don’t have a permit). Overall a good choice.

Only giving a 4 instead of a 5 for a few reasons. We didn't have breakfast so can't attest to how good it is. The shower was somewhat difficult to use due to the shower head not wanting to stay still. With that said it's in a good location pretty close to a bus stop which takes ~25 minutes to get to the tourist area or a 45 minute walk mostly downhill.

Sarvario was AMAZING! He made us feel welcome and comfortable. If we needed anything to make our stay more comfortable, he got it for us.
He gave us all the information we needed to know about transportation and finding the best spots to eat.

This property was clean and smelled good. The gates were closed at certain times of the night so I guess that helps with security.

It’s uphill so if you’re walking, you’ll definitely get those quad muscles without even trying 😂.

It’s about 10-25mins of a walk from nice restaurants.

It is a 5-7minw walk to bus stops on either side.

Downside is:
- if you’re not driving, it’s a long walk from the gate to the building entrance.

- The ground all stones so if you’re wheeling a box, it’s even harder.

- Breakfast buffet was hella expensive.

- Mosquitoes are outside because it has natural vegetation (inside, they have a wallflower that smells great and repels mosquitoes), so you’ll be fine.

In all, I’d stay here again!

The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, gave us good recommendations for restaurants and places to go. Breakfast was delicious! The hotel itself was average, not worth the price in our opinion. Our shower drain was clogged and water pooled in the corner of our bathroom. The walls are thin, we could hear other guests. It’s a beautiful property, but we probably wouldn’t stay again.

Beautiful villa- unfortunately rooms are poorly maintained. We tried showering and the water pressure was non- existent. The tub was poorly repaired. The room was overall staid. In addition, The hotel is not staffed 24 hours so if you need assistance there's no one there to help.
I would never go back.

Florence is a beautiful city, and because of that it can get quite a bit crowded with tourists. Hotel Villa Betania was a welcome respite at the end of each day to take a break from all the crowds and relax in a quieter neighborhood that still offered many great restaurants, gelaterias and things to do. We can't say enough about how wonderful the entire staff was, from the front desk that helped us with all our questions, reservations, taxi and tour needs, to the wonderful person that made our breakfast every morning (we miss our freshly baked croissants and cappuccinos so much!). Thank you Villa Betania, for making our stay feel so much like a second home!

Nice, historic villa. Good sized rooms, everything worked but the air conditioner, which is very weak and could only get the temp from 28 to 27 after running for hours _ in the end we took our chances w the mosquitos and opened the window. Do not book this place when it is hot outside. A suggestion - a cheap $20 fan woukd have been great to have i the room. Also, mosquito nets should be installed on the windows, again, inexpensive but very useful when the AC does not work. Other than the AC not working, making for terrible discomfort when it's hot - the place is amazing.

Lovely Setting and 2 ways to walk into Town both providing a Great Walk with Great views of the City.
Only a 10 minute Bus ride from the River in Florence.
In my view much better than staying in the City Centre during the main season - May - October.
The Staff were really friendly and Helpful.

Hi! First and foremost the staff is excellent. Each staff member is personable, professional and helpful. They helped me to enjoy my stay and are the bees’ knees. Excellent! They are superstars!!!!

The breakfast has a nice mix of protein and carbohydrates, which is the perfect way to start the day.

The WIFI access is strong and consistent.

My room was lovely. It occupied two floors and was clean. I loved the open layout and loft style, whereby my room was on the top floor. The bathroom was spacious with a deep tub and waterfall shower. Amazing!

I have two major issues which relate to the structure and policy of the hotel. I was disappointed by the air conditioning; it was weak. The staff advised that it is central and can only be set by the computer. I asked that the air conditioning be increased and the computer system did not permit it. Nightly, I was uncomfortable with the temperature because the room was not refreshingly crisp; which is important after a hot day if touring and walking. At times the temperature was 26 degrees Celsius; which was uncomfortable. The room eventually cooled down but never to a refreshing temperature. Further the unit in my room made noise, which disturbed my sleep.

Further, the reception opens at 8 am. The consequence is that the hotel does not offer an early call service. As someone who has previously erroneously set her alarm to PM rather than AM, I was disappointed that I did not have access to this alarm back up service.

Easy parking and a 25 min walk to Ponte Vecchio. Always a comfortable place to stay. I have stayed here 5 different times for these reasons. Not close enough to walk to if you don’t have a car...for being worth the trade off.

Never understood why they charge 5€ for parking, but it is their policy. Breakfast is standard, nothing extremely fancy, but includes a cappuccino or like drink along with bread, pastries, and juices.

I would stay again if I had a car.

A kettle for boiling water will be appreciated.

Unlike most European hotels which provide a kettle for boiling water this hotel does not do so. The staff is nevertheless helpful in providing us with a porcelain pot, filled with hot water, and 2 cups. Thank you, but upgraded facility with a kettle will be appreciated.

This place is amazing, and was a great deal in the off season. We paid €120 for a very nice room with a great big shower and a little private patio. The downside is being a long way from Florence’s attractions and restaurants. The closest place to eat was an 8 minute walk. If you have a car and want to be away from the madness of the tourist areas this is your place. VERY quiet.

Was a little disappointed with check-in. Receptionist wasn't particularly welcoming - rather, she gave us the impression we had been interrupting her \"rest\" as she wasn't even at the reception desk and we had to call to get her to come down to attend to us. The room was amazing and spacious. Bed was so comfortable and all in all the room was a dream. Annoyed that we had to go out in the rain to access our room (it was a superior double room), and amenities were very basic and not too pleasant. Breakfast was fine. We were charged for parking which wasn't made clear when booking. Otherwise great. Would definitely return.

Very happy with our stay at Villa Betania. Our room in the adjacent building was so spacious and comfortable. Some noise from the guests upstairs, but this wasn't the fault of the hotel, just inconsiderate people, you find them everywhere. Staff were very helpful, the local restaurant recommendations were fabulous, and the 25 minute walk into the centre of Firenze was a delight. We spent our first 2 nights in the centre and could not wait to get away from the crowds and the insanity! Villa Betania's grounds are a quiet, peaceful retreat but still within striking distance of all the attractions.

We only spent one night at Hotel Villa Betania and we were pleased with our time spent at the hotel. We had a short time to spend touring Florence and the front desk provided an excellent map with walk times, bus route numbers, and taxi cost information to help us choose how we would visit the city. Very helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet area. We are fast walkers and made it into the city tourist areas in around 20 minutes. Beds were good and the rooms were quiet - two important things for us. I would recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Florence.

Hotel Villa Betania

Hotel Villa Betania is located on the outskirts of Florence city. The walk to or from the hotel can be quite a trek to the city centre, especially if it is very warm. Fortunately there is a bus service the number 11 which has a bus stop nearby and the ticket cost for a one way trip is €1.50 purchased from the Tabacchi or the hotel reception. Make sure you validate the ticket once on the bus.
We also visited Lucca, Siena and San Gimignano.
San Gimignano doesn't have a direct bus service from Florence, so a change of bus at Poggibonsi is required and you might have to wait for an hour for the next bus to San Gimignano.
Our last day was spent in Pisa and we deposited our luggage at the \"left baggage\" area at the train station at a cost of €5 per bag.
Florence is a great city for a taste of Tuscany, but next time instead of using it as a base to visit other locations, we will move from one location to the next.
The food was good, but after a week we were longing for a change from pasta or pizza as everywhere in the city seems to sell the same food, so not much variation. Beware of the self service food outlets in the city as they are not as cheap as they appear on the menu. We paid the same price in a descent Trattoria as we did in the self service place which felt more like a glorified canteen.
Final word of warning, if you do not have a bus ticket and the driver tells you he has none, get off the bus immediately or you will incur a hefty fine at your destination.

Best if you have a car as parking available to leave it at the hotel. A bus ride into town and sights. They do sell the tickets at the front desk. The bus stops both inbound and outbound are within easy walking distance. Nice grounds to relax. Peaceful and quiet setting. Rooms differ in arrangement (one of ours was on two levels-less good for a mobility challenged person). One had a shower and bathtub, other had a shower for two people. Therefore, if you have particular needs it is best to ask ahead. No restaurants within walking distance so either eat in town prior to returning to hotel or drive to a restaurant in the outer suburbs. WiFi speeds are adequate for most needs.

Beautiful - Distance from city centre not a bother

At first when I realized how far it was from the city centre I was a bit disappointed. It is a 15 minute cab ride away, a bus stop is not far away. However it became less as a bother when I settled in and began to appreciate that staying at this hotel is like staying in a Tuscan countryside (in a Tuscan Villa!) without being too far away really from the noisy, grimier and urban surroundings of the city centre.

We stayed here for our honeymoon.It's not in the city centre but easily accessible by bus or walk (around 30min). Breakfast was included in our stay and the croissants were amazing. The front desk was more than accommodating as well and the Deluxe room we had was clean and spacious. Only downside was that there was no kettle provided in the room and we had to ring the front desk everytime we wanted some hot water (we were there in winter). And you have to try Trattoria Boboli which is a short walk away - reasonable prices and AMAZING food. Best food I had in the whole of my 2.5week Italy trip!

Taxi back on an evening between 10 and 20 euros depending where you are so not expensive. Overall very enjoyable stay.

Quiet respite in Florence

We felt like we were staying at a private villa hosted by a very helpful family. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, so very quiet; but within walking distance to all of Florence's sights. Public transportation also close by. Breakfast with many options was also included. Excellent stay!

Lovely hotel one mile from old city walls. Nice room with high ceiling, hard wood floors and a fabulous view. Bar for morning crossiant and cappuccino around the corner. We loved walking from the hotel around in the city and to Piazza Michelangelo, but be aware that Villa Betania is set on a seriously steep hill. There are several great cafes down the hill on Via Senese. The reception room needs updating but that’s a minor deficit in a quality hotel.

What I liked best about this hotel was the staff, who was very helpful with maps and bus routes and who spoke English very well. The room was comfortable and very clean. It is within walking distance of all main attractions (1-2 miles) but not exactly in the center of the attractions. There is also a very convenient bus very close to the hotel.

Nice clean hotel if you want somewhere clean and comfortable .Warm welcome from a young gentleman on reception , who very kindly explained how we could get to the city , not many facilities , no tea or coffeee in rooms , tiny bar no atmosphere and always empty , breakfast disappointing ,not a lot to offer and no fresh bread as they had run out , but the room was lovely very clean and the hotel stands in beautiful grounds , bus ride to the city . No cafes , restaurants nearby apart from one small one for coffee .

A delightful hotel in a lovely setting - set back from the road so nice and quiet.

Breakfast was more than adequate.
Having travelled from Rome it was nice to be out of the centre in a lovely clean hotel with staff that were only to happy to help.
Restaurants a 10 minute walk away and the centre of Florence probably 25minutes.
Good value for money and the free bottle of Prosecco was delicious.

Beautiful Villa

This hotel is a converted villa in extensive grounds that make one feel like one is in the Tuscany countryside. The rooms are well laid out, bathrooms being exceptionally nice. The location is close to the #11 bus route to get into and back from the old town, and each way trip is only $1.44 at current exchange rates. But walking down from the hotel is delightful, and takes just 23 minutes, when one can observe lovely Italian architecture.
Will go back to this hotel next time we are in Florence.

Cute hotel with great staff!

The hotel is tucked away and feels quiet and peaceful with a lovely garden in the back. It is very clean and the service from all the staff is top notch. We had issues with the bus that is right outside the hotel but that is not the fault of the hotel. However, we did end up taking a taxi or walking most places.

The hotel is a great value and I would definitely recommend it!

Lovely villa in a perfect location

This is a quaint villa hotel, just outside the city, so it's away from the crowds in a quiet area, but close to the central city and river. We could walk to the river/city in about 15-20 minutes, and there is also a convenient bus that gets you there faster with a stop nearby. The room was nice and big, but the beds were a bit hard. Otherwise, charming, nice breakfast and helpful staff. When reserving on Hotels.com, this place comes with or without breakfast. Somehow I didn't pick it with breakfast and paid more. So double check the listing. I'd pick this again if I go back to Florence.

Nice hotel closed to Biboli Garden

I enjoyed staying in this hotel. It has the all the basic amenities that you need to enjoy Florence.
It's a walking distance to Biboli Garden and you can walk all the way to the historical downtown. There is also a bus stop closed to the hotel as well.
This is also good if you are going to Florence by car since parking is hard to find in the city and expensive.

Breakfast is pretty basic when it comes to food selection but it's nice since you can have it in the garden.

Great Hotel for the money with beautiful grounds to come back to after a busy day. Easy walk to town every morning, only complaint is the city transit available in the early morning and late at night. The number 11 bus is really the only bus and is not reliable for time table.

We had a beautiful stay! Let me tell you honestly the reasons you will love it here.
Great air conditioning. Clean from the landscaping to the bathrooms. Comfy beds! Good size rooms, exactly what we were hoping for. Plenty of parking and a 10 min ride to the center of it all! Andre was very helpful.

Weekend break in Florence

This beautiful hotel is about a 25 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio so it's a bit outside the city. However, it's quiet and very pretty and the number 11 bus drops off outside (a taxi was €15 from the train station). The staff we're so helpful and friendly. We had a room on the top floor with a large comfortable bed and a lovely view up towards the hill. The bathroom was a little small but the shower was great. The breakfast was fresh and and tasty with great service from the lady looking after us (the coffee was delicious) I would come definitely stay here again.

Excellent hotel and the stuff is very helpfull they reserved a ticket for us for the Uffizi Gallery so we do not wait in line. the breakfast was very good. the Hotel is 20 min. away for the train station we took the bus 11.
it take 25 min walking to the Duomo or take the bus 11.

Excellent hotel for the money

After a long hot day of touring Florence, this hotel was a welcome sight and easy to get to. We really liked the \"feel\" of the place...........secluded with a nice outdoor area and very Tuscan. The room was very clean, updated, comfortable, and had a larger than normal shower. The A/C worked great and the breakfast was excellent. Lots of free parking made my day and the only thing I would improve is those hard Italian mattresses! Would I stay there again? You bet!

Great hotel .. away from the noise

Loved this hotel - a good 20-30 minute walk to the centre, which is ideal for travellers who enjoy the city by walking around. A cab ride from the centre is about 15 euros. There are also buses nearby. The hotel ambience itself is lovely. It is very quiet which is nice after a busy day of sightseeing. The staff are very helpful. Breakfast was also great.

Beautiful and quiet hotel, quick access to town

We loved our stay here! The hotel is really cute and well maintained and everyone was very helpful. It is a little outside of downtown Florence, but there is a bus that takes you there and back for only a couple of euros. We really enjoyed having our coffee on the terrace before each day in Florence, and it was a great place to come back to at the end of the day. On our next trip to Florence, we hope to stay here again.
