I've enjoyed this property once more. The terrace is wonderful, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. With the change in temperature, it was a shame that the room had no A/C. My main complaint was the amount of mosquitoes that came into my room in one afternoon. It was unbearable.

This hotel is very special. It is located in a leafy, quiet and beautiful area outside the hustle and bustle of Hamburg. The room was huge, and beautifully decorated, on a lovely courtyard. The highlight is the Linden Terrace which looks out on the river. Stunning. Excellent food. Book the restaurant before you arrive as it gets full.

The view by the river Elba was fantastic. The breakfast was excellent.
The property’s furniture was dated. We requested a twin bedded room in one of our 2 rooms at least a couple of months before arrival. The hotel responded by saying they would do their best to accommodate our request. On checking in, we were told our booking did not ask for twin bedded room. We would expect for a 5* hotel, this sort of request was not out of the ordinary. If there was nothing available , then they should have informed us when it was requested at the time or before arrival. The response at the check in desk was disappointing. After waiting for well over 45 minutes, we were eventually given a twin bedded room but in our opinion, we should not have to argue with the check in staff with our request. After all, a 5* hotel should be welcoming whatever it takes and not to cause unease with their guests particularly on the day of arrival. We did not expect this from Hotel Jacob!

A dramatic decline in service.

We have been staying at LCJ for 7 years and unfortunately seen a dramatic decline in the last few years. Most of the staff inc reception look like they don’t like working there giving a uneasy atmosphere.
Lack of service staff available also meant you had to wait so long to order drinks in the outside area.
On checking out there was no one available to help with the bags to the car resulting in us grabbing the porter trolley ourselves and wheeling it with our luggage past reception through the hotel with the staff just ignoring the situation. This would never of happened a few years ago...such a shame because it was an institution in Hamburg in when you stayed there you were made so welcome and it felt special.

Very disappointing unfortunately.

I was really looking forward to my stay at this hotel. Unfortunately it turned out to be spectacularly unimpressive. It's one of those places that believes it's own publicity but in my view fails to live up to it's own standards. The place is just too fussy. Before arrival I had been sent a voucher promising me a room upgrade. I definitely didn't get that upgrade. I'm not actually sure I even got the room I booked. The room was cold, the pillows were paper thin and the blackout curtains were not even big enough for the window they claimed to black out. Wifi is very poor. Fitness centre is too hot. To reach the room I had to use 3 lifts. Apparently I had a €10 food and beverage voucher at my disposal. The reception staff knocked €3.70 off my bill - the price of a bar of chocolate which according to the room service menu is €4.50. They also tried to bill me for 4 breakfasts when I had in fact eaten none. Yes, the place is comfortable and clean. Yes, the decor is tasteful and well presented, but overall this hotel is severely lacking in charm and comfort. There are very many hotels in the Hamburg area which are far better at giving guests what they want with the minimum of fuss than this hotel seems capable of doing. If you really must choose your pillow from a list including cherry stone, flax, horse hair etc. then be my guest but it's not for me I'm afraid. Me, I just want a medium-firm pillow, and the hotel I am in right now has provided exactly that. Without any pretence.

The single best hotel experience ever

Our stay at Louis C Jacob was nothing short of amazing.
We stayed for 1 night with our two little girls, 2 and 5.
The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The service was second to none.
Our room had been set up with beds for the girls, a little table with sweets, fruit and water. There were also some toys and the most adorable children bathrobes. Finally, special children’s bath bombs and bubbles bath was arranged in the bathroom room.
My girls had the time of their lives and felt so special and spoiled thanks to the amazing staff.
I can go on as we had a similar experience in the restaurant in the evening but I think it’s clear that Louis C Jacob has my warmest recommendation, both as a couples stay but also if you have brought your children along for the stay.

Upscale hotel with views of the Elbe

Hotel matches Hamburg's upscale persona. Royalty and high powered families have stayed here. Hotel has a lovely terrace overlooking the Elbe as well as two lovely restaurants that serve gourmet food. It is away from the bustle of the city-- nice and quiet. A hotel of choice if your standards are high and you wish to be treated with utmost respect. Modern art that adorns the hallways and some rooms are noteworthy and some are museum quality. They all contribute to the feeling that you are in your own private northern German mansion.

The staff here was amazingly helpful. Rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. While my work did not afford me time to dine in the hotel, I wish I did have leisure time to enjoy their incredible facilities. Views are amazing! Easy access to walk along the Elbe River is a major plus. Bus #36 stopped steps away from the hotel which made commuting into downtown Hamburg a breeze.

Beautiful location and renovated historic hotel!

Staff are fantastic and really made my staff comfortable. The hotel is made up of a few historic properties that were remodeled and turned into a really nice place. My only complaint would be the chairs in the room were period but not terribly comfortable. All else was truly a class act. If you don't want to pay $35 for breakfast, there's a nice little bakery a block up the street.

Best hotel I've stayed in for a long time!

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel, in fact one of the best stays in a hotel. It is an old, historic hotel with big rooms, a beautiful bathroom and dressing area. The service was fantastic, everyone was friendly and attentive. We have a young baby and they added little touches to the room that made us feel very special - a soft toy, toiletries and dressing gown. They helped get breakfast and milk organised for us, and I just felt like there was nothing that was too much and everything with a smile. I have already emailed the hotel directly thanking them for their hospitality. It really put my faith back into customer service and felt like there was a lot of pride in the team to deliver a wonderful service and ensure our stay was an exceptional one - which it was.

Great Hotel by River Elbe.

Hotel Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg was one of the most luxurious hotels I have stayed in. It felt good! The breakfast buffet - so full of fresh imaginative savoury and sweet foods - looked and tasted first class. Public rooms were comfortable and attractive. The Louis Jacob maintains a level of service not often seen in hotels around the world anymore. The staff is wonderful, the hotel itself is beautiful and understated and the hotel's location is the best in Hamburg. I'm very happy to return to this hotel when the opportunity presents itself. One of the hotel staff made a mistake and lost my rented car keys which led to a chain of difficult events (missing a ferry, loosing nights at hotels...etc). The hotel took responsibility and went beyond the average to fix everything and compensate me for the inconvenience happened. they went beyond my expectations. i travel on monthly basis and visited the majority of this world. it is a hotel that earned my respect.

Great place to stay. Nice rooms and great service. But the hotel is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Most things are a 15 minute cab ride away from the hotel. If you do not want to eat at the hotels restaurant, you will have to walk to the little village nearby and a lot of the places close early.

Top class in every respect

The Louis Jacob hotelk is top class. I stayed there for only one night on a business trip in Hamburg, and I wished I could have stayed for longer. This is a much better hotel than the Hyatt which I bokked for the rest of my trip. The service wa impeccable from the moment I set foot in the recception. The room itself was fairly traditional, but quite large with a well equiped bathroom. The only negative ppoint was a fairly old, small TV - its needs updating with a modern flat screen - but as I don't watch TV in hotel rooms, this was not a problem. I imagine the more expensive rooms have a view over the river, but my room was in the annex accross the road, not the most convenient if it is raining.

I ate in the Jacob bistro which was buzzing with a great atmosphere, an interesting short menu and pretty good value for money and again the service was brilliant.

Breakfast was as good as it gets (not cheap though), withoiut quite the range of choice that some of the bigger hotels offfer, but with high quality items and nothing was too much trouble.

I would recomend this hotel to anyone who does not need to be right at the centre of Hamburg. And for a romantic break it woould be excellent.

This was our second stay at this lovely hotel. The staff is very friendly and speak fluent English. No request is too small or too large. They will take care of it. The hotel is located away from the center of town in a beautiful up-scale residential area. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. We had a car and there was underground parking for it. Excellent food. A wonderful hotel.

Best Location in Hamburg

I have visited Hamburg several times as it is my corporate HQ for the last 11 years. I rarely have the chance to stay in such a nice hotel and due to expedia, got to stay at a good value. The hotel is situated right on the water, so if the weather is nice, which it was during my visit, it can be one of the most relaxing places to be. The staff go out of their way to assist and ensure that the stay is most memorable. The restaurant was one of the best meals that I have had anywhere in the world, and more impressive was that I was in a group at the dinner, so they managed to accomplish this to a large party.

Das Zimmer war leider ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen.. Steckdose am Bett ging nicht, im Bad standen die Lampenverkleidungen mitten im Raum. Das Zimmer war nicht sauber und wenn das Zimmer mit Terrasse pro Nacht deutlich mehr kostet, erwarte ich dort zumindestens eine Sitzmöglichkeit.
Alles in Allem preislich nicht wirklich im Verhältnis zur Leistung.

Das Hotel liegt ca. 25 min mit der S-Bahn vom Stadtkern entfernt, mit dem Taxi zum Altona Cruise Center 15 min. Das Hotelpersonal war überaus hilfsbereit, service orientiert und sehr freundlich. Auf dem Zimmer war eine handschriftliche Begrüßung, wir haben uns sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Das Zimmer war sehr großzügig, sauber, stilvoll. Absolute Weiterempfehlung für Gäste, die nicht mitten in der Stadt wohnen möchten und Stadtvilla einem großen, modernen Komplex vorziehen.

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen und benötigt dringend eine Auffrischung. Beispiel: Nach dreimaliger Reklamation von Abflussgerüchen zu drei unterschiedlichen Terminen wurde das Zimmer 218 für eine technische Instandsetzung gesperrt. Beim vierten Mal wurde das Zimmer 118 zugeteilt, mit dem gleichen Problem. Reaktion hier : keine!

Eigentlich eine Institution und ein alt ehrwürdiges, gediegenes Hotel aber bzgl. der Gäste hatten wir den Eindruck dass hier der Rewe Konzern als Inhaber Pauschaltouristen vor den Schiffsreisen einquartiert.
Auch der Service bzw. das Personal war mal geschulter und freundlicher- Corona hat wohl auch hier seine Spuren hinterlassen…-. Ansonsten das Hotel und die Lage einmalig, ebenso die Sweet die wir als Familie mal wieder hatten. Wir hoffen, dass es irgendwann wieder wie früher wird.

In connection with our autumn holiday, we decided to spend an extra night away from the center of Hamburg to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Hotel Louis C. Jacob seemed to have a similar standard to hotels we like, such as Fraser Suites Hamburg, Steigenberger Hamburg, Marriott Hamburg, Privathotel lindtner hamburg, SIDE Hotel, etc.

It is a dog-friendly hotel, so it came as a disappointment when we were first shown to a table in the restaurant for dinner, only to be asked to leave two minutes later because dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. We always travel with our little 5 kg Bichon Frise, who always sits quietly in a bag at restaurants. Since Hotel Louis C. Jacob is advertised as dog-friendly, we were shocked by such a negative and disappointing experience.

Our room (No. 55) was very close to the road, and we could hear all the traffic noise, which made it impossible to sleep. At 7:30 in the morning, construction and road work began. We hadn’t slept at all during the night and couldn’t get any rest in the morning either.

It was a poor decision to choose this hotel. It was the most disappointing experience we’ve ever had in Hamburg.

We will check out as soon as possible to find a breakfast place that is nice and friendly for both pets and humans in Hamburg.

Mal wieder ein Traum in jeder Beziehung, egal ob Personal, das Zimmer, das Essen, die kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten, die Lage. Einfach wundervoll! Besonders hervorzuheben die Kunstsammlung des Hotels, die nicht nur im öffentlichen Bereich des Hotels zu finden ist, sondern auch auf den Zimmern, wirklich einzigartig!

Das Hotel begegnet den Gästen unpersönlich und ist maximal als Geschäftshotel zu empfehlen. Wir wollten 2 schöne Tage dort verbringen.
Das Frühstück war klasse, hingegen der Besuch in der Bar als auch im Restaurant ein teures Fiasko.
Das 30€ tägliche Parkgebühren anfallen wurde im Vorfeld nicht mitgeteilt und hat uns befremdet.

Die Einrichtung ist in die Jahre gekommen. Obwohl schon mehrfach angemahnt, sind ja einfache Dinge wie Abfluss vom Waschtisch verstopft. Siphon von der Dusche riecht übel. Die Bettwäsche riecht muffig. Die Rezeption ist nie besetzt bzw. versteckt sich das Personal in einem hinteren Raum und tritt in Erscheinung, wenn Kunden rufen. Das Foyer wirkt wie eine Geisterstadt. Die Terrasse ist schön, leider nicht überall gepflegt. Vieles ist optimierungswürdig.

Wir hatten superior Doppelzimmer gebucht und wurden in einem Nebenhaus auf der anderen Straßenseite in einer Besenkammer unterm Dach untergebracht!!!!!!!!!

Hotel und Zimmer in die Jahre gekommen, Gartenzimmer renovierungsbedürftig, Personal sehr freundlich und serviceorientiert, Frühstück wie immer hervorragend, Lindenterasse am frühen Abend mit dezenter Livemusik unschlagbar für Aperitif oder ruhiges Glas Wein. Gediegene hanseatische Lässigkeit.

Dejligt hotel med god beliggenhed

Dejligt hotel med god beliggenhed. Bar og restaurant direkte til Elben. Service i bar og restaurant i top, ligesom mad begge steder er i den bedre ende - uden at være vildt dyrt. Stort dejligt stort værelse til haven gav ro i nattetimer selv med åbent vindue.
