I loved the whimsical country feel that the hotel had. It offered a kind of peaceful oasis in the midst of Marseille. It felt very safe and homelike.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel - especially for solo travellers!
First of all, the hotel is in a part of town which I didn't feel very safe in and is around 30 minute walk to nicer parts of the city.
Secondly, while it has a nice and boutique design, it comes at a cost of quality and comfort. My room was very small, the floorboards and bed were creaky and everything felt very fragile! For those looking to book the single room, the 'ensuite' bathroom is not attached to your bedroom - it is down the corridor! Also, it is the size of an airplane toilet, which makes showering and getting dressed before walking down the corridor to your room very difficult!
Finally, I didn't have a great experience with the service. Upon my arrival the hotel cleaner handed me my key and quickly left, so there was no one to welcome me or answer any questions and there was never anyone downstairs in reception. The first time I met any staff from the hotel was at breakfast the following day where the manager had laid out tables for guests to sit and eat the prepared breakfast, but even though there were single rooms in the hotel, there were no tables laid out for one person. When I tried to sit at a different table by myself, the lady shouted at me and said I wasn't allowed to move anything. This meant I had to tag along on a family table, which was quite uncomfortable. Also, the breakfast was only a croissant and some slices of bread with jam.

All in all, not a very comfortable stay.

The staff was lovely but we did have a hard time communicating as they spoke very little English and we spoke very little French. We got a different room than I had booked which was bigger but most of the beds were in lofts which wasn't ideal for my 72 year old mother. It had a lovely table though. The breakfast was lovely in the garden. The pool is very small and located in a central courtyard that is very close to the kitchen where the owners are hanging out. The Jacuzzi is actually behind a curtain in the dining room. That was a bit odd but overall...this hotel was fine.

The owner does not speak english and he did not even try to understand or help you at all. He treats you like you are a pest instead of a client, although the staff that cleans the hostal is more helpful.

The room is very small and it has only one socket and it is for the illumination of the room

A real gem

A wonderful place hidden away in a slightly less salubrious part of Marseilles, although still crime-free and with a vibrant community feel, especially a range of excellent local restaurants. Really quaint French-style rooms, and wonderful hosts. A non-heated small pool, and a hot water jacuzzi, are available for recreation purposes, although, with no real 'Reception' area, you are left with evening drinks at dining tables, which is not really a hardship because no evening meals are served.

What a delight, after the dusty streets of Marseille to retreat into the fragrant, cool and calm Un Mas en Ville. Lovely: from a dip in the beautiful pool to the simple breakfast this place was a treat.

Great place, iffy location

Wonderful time. The host Paul let us in 6 hours before check in because we took an overnight train. There is a beautiful cold pool that was amazing to relax in out of the heat.
The surrounding area isn't the best, a little rough, and be prepared for a spiral staircase to your room.
Would return for sure

A charming little hotel

Un Mas en Ville is a charming little hotel at the centre of Marseilles. Every room is original and full of character and it also offers the benefits of a small pool and a jacuzzi which are lovely to relax in after your journey or a hard day sight-seeing. The proprietor is welcoming and helpful. The hotel also offers a lovely continental breakfast ample enough not to get hungry and with home-made jam!

Kindness and charm in central Marseille

I have only the most wonderful things to stay about this charming hotel. At the train station, I had fallen down some stairs and rather badly sprained my ankle. When I arrived, the proprietor of the hotel was so kind and gracious, despite a bit of a language barrier. Upon seeing my limp, he carried my bag up to my room and helped me up the stairs. Unprompted, he returned with ice and various medicines and ointments and continued to check on me. When I decided to cut my stay a bit short to return home, he was so warm and understanding.

The room itself was small but very clean and comfortable, and reminiscent of a simpler time. Overall the hotel was a warm, charming, nostalgic little place, which I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Marseille.

There was no wifi and the manager didn't want to solve the problem or call for help. No phone and no tv in the room, and the pool was at around 16c so no chance to us it. Very very disapointing. When we asked to cleanthe room the manager told us the they do it only once by week!,,,,,,

Back in time

The strangest hotel ever, as if it didn't change in 200 years.The owner did not speak a word of English and it was hard to comunicate. My room was 3 flights up steep narrow stairs. Not a bad room though.
The neigbourhood was convenient, but not very pleasant.

Hidden Gem

I only stayed a few days at this wonderful hotel. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the accommodations are almost exactly as pictured. Though the hotel staff hardly spoke English, he did his very best to understand my requests (like borrowing a glass from the kitchen for my room). Breakfast was included with my stay and it is exactly what you would expect for a French breakfast, but you can go back for seconds and thirds without paying an extra cost (as you would at a cafe). I would love to stay here again if I visit Marseilles.

Really loved it here. Beautifully recreated traditional marseille house but with the added modern benefit of super air con. Friendly owners, simple to check in and could easily come and go when you please. Loved the courtyard with the pool and very close to the city centre. Would highly recommend for a couples retreat to marseille

A lovely charming place, more B&B than hotel.

I enjoyed my stay here, but picked the wrong type of hotel for my purpose (passing through on business). The room was lovely and charming, if perhaps a bit too quaint. However, the hotel has limited check-in hours (1600h to 1900h), and you can't even drop off your luggage outside those hours -- no one was there to answer the bell until a bit after 1600h or 4 pm. I think if I had been thinking clearly I would have realized that it was more a bed and breakfast experience -- which would have been great for a longer stay -- that didn't go well with my needs of spending one night in Marseille.

Old and medieval-like

The hotel is very old. If you want to experience how people were living in middle ages, this is the right place to choose. Everything (architecture and furniture) is of medieval-style, and interesting to see. The hotel is small, only 5 rooms. There are no elevators and the stairs are a bit uncomfortable. The rooms are OK, but don't expect cleaning; they don't clean the rooms while you are staying there. The owner is very kind and tries his best to help you, but he does not understand/speak English. Breakfast is very simple (mainly bread and jam), but it's the typical French breakfast after all. The place for breakfast has a very romantic atmosphere though. The price is quite high for such a place, but hotels in Marseille are expensive anyway. The hotel has a cute pool. The neighborhood can be very noisy at night (one night there was a party with very loud music and shouting until 2:30am); closing windows does not help. Overall, we had a good stay, but will not stay there again, unless we won't find any better options.

Tricky to find, since the street is graffiti covered and numberless.On finding a tiny sign, a warm welcome from proprietor. On 2nd floor, (there were more) up a narrow windy stairs you need top keep your wits about you up and down. Room furnished in french country style with stone basins and erratic fan. Recommendations for restaurants were both excellent.. Breakfast while fresh was just bread and jam (or toast) coffee and orange juice.Or a natural yogurt, so not for the breakfast eaters. In April the pool( lovely) was stone cold so after a brief try retired to Jacuzzi which takes you back to Roman times. It was definitely different.

Unprepared for this hotel

My first mistake was assuming that each room had its own bath. Unfortunately, my room shared a bath with two other rooms, and the bath itself was probably no bigger than 3 X 5. The toilet had no cover, so be very careful putting makeup on in the bath, which I wouldn't have done if my room had a mirror, which it didn't. Couldn't wash my face or brush my teeth without getting everything wet, including the toilet paper.

The room itself was fine, but since it was on the street and it was warm and I left the window open, it was noisy. A fan and a mirror in the room would have been nice.

Alsoif you don't speak French, be prepared with a map of the area, which I didn't have. The staff didn't speak English, and though they tried to be helpful, I never did figure out where to eat dinner.

Très mal insonorisé(on entend les pas des clients du dessus sans arrêt, bar en face de l'hôtel impossible de dormir avant sa fermeture à minuit passé) , hygiène précaire(odeurs d'égouts, et d'humidité, dans l'hôtel et dans la chambre, araignées dans les toilettes) personnel désagréable, chambres malentretenues (rideaux non accrochés, pommeau de douche cassé verre tranchant), petit déjeuné servi à partir de 8h (ce qui n'est pas mentionné lors de la réservation, nous devions partir à 7:45 le dernier jour et le gérant nous a spécifié \"bin pas de problème vous prendrez votre petit déjeuner à la gare\" , nous étions choqué bien sûr aucune possibilité de rembourser le petit déjeuner tout avait été payé lors de la réservation, discussion fermée, il nous a été spécifié de façon très peu courtoise le tant pis pour vous), connexion WiFi médiocre.
À aucun moment il n'est spécifié que les chambres ne sont pas faites, 5 jours c'était long, draps et serviettes pas changées ...
Il est mentionné réception 7/7. Or il n'y a pas de réception sur place, le gérant n'est pas sur place vient de l'extérieur quand vous l'appelez sur son portable le jour de l'arrivée.
Contrairement à ce qui est mentionné sur la porte d'entrée, la réception à partir de 16h, cela nous a déstabilisé, en arrivant à 14h, en sonnant pas de réponse. On a du appeler sur le portable de l'hôtel pour que le gérant nous donne un code, puis nous l'avons attendu, il vient de l'extérieur.

Idée géniale d’installer un hôtel dans ce quartier hors des classiques touristiques. Génial ce mélange de mas et de style marocain. Génial d’avoir optimisé l’espace avec goût et des produits de qualité. Moins bien l’obligatIon de se mettre à quatre pattes pour se coucher. Litet mysigt ställe med mycket familjär atmosfär. Absolut ingen lyx men rummet var rent och snyggt. Den lilla innergården var som en skuggig oas, här kunde en äta frukost och många gäster köpte också med sig vin och tilltugg på eftermiddagarna. Området är lite ruffigt men absolut inte otäckt. Finns flera fina restauranger och små trevliga butiker på de smala gatorna i kvarteren.

Die Unterkunft hat einen gewissen Charme und ist im mediterranen Stil eingerichtet. Es gibt einen kleinen Innenhof mit kleinem Pool und Jakuzi. Da das Haus sehr alt ist, sind die Zimmer teilweise sehr niedrig und zum Teil nach innen liegend ( kein Tageslicht, kein Fenster). Wir hatten zu dritt ein solches Zimmer direkt neben Innenhof und Frühstücksraum. Das war übermäßig laut, insgesamt ist die Unterkunft sehr hellhörig!

No entiendo para ques se anuncian si no hablan ni hacen el intento de hablar otro idioma, ni siquiera el ingles. Deberian especificar que solo aceptan huespedes que hablan Frances.
La actitud del recepcionista es pesima, no digna del negocio de la hoteleria. Estuve tres dias y nunca limpiaron la habitacion nisiquiera ofrecieron toallas limpias.
Las unicas personas amables fueron la personal que me ayudo a pedir el taxi, y Los que me asistieron con el aire acondicionado.
Realmente recomiendo que adicionen calidad en el servicio y una sonrisa en sus rostro seria muy calido para los huespedes.

pas de climatisation en état de fonctionner dans la chambre , suite à une attente de pièces pour réparer
les toilettes sont privatives mais pas dans la chambre (non clairement indiqué lors de la réservation)
par contre la taille des toilettes est exigüe = taille de la touche =60cm*60cm : taille des wc exigüe = 30 cm pour s'asseoir . Esthétiquement ,c'est beau et bien : pratiquement c'est plus que passable pour un établissement d'hébergement.

La literie n'est pas exceptionnelle : beaucoup de grincement et matelas pas ferme
Pour le prix, l'ambiance et le confort en dehors de la chambre est très agréable (patio, jacuzzi, etc ....) : mais la chambre en elle-même n'est pas exceptionnelle et ne correspond pas forcément au niveau de prix demandé

Tolles Hotel an einem zentralen Platz in Marseille. Tolle Lage mit vielen Restaurants und Bars, trotzdem recht ruhig. Eine richtige Oase im Tumult der Stadt. Zimmer toll eingerichtet. Fantastisches Frühstück. Das beste ist aber das Personal. So freundlich und zuvorkommend wie selten woanders.

algo diferente al resto que atrae!

un hotel diferente al resto y eso te engancha, te ofrece otro tipo de servicio tan calido con los desayunos muy bueno por cierto, sales a callejear con una energia diferente !!
( lo unico malo que nos toco fue la habitacion subir todos los dias 3 pisos jajaja despues de andar todo el dia en Marsella con subidas y bajadas terminas pues directo al jacuzzy ... increible !! y otra parte a mejorar un servicio de habitaciones ,,, 3 dias con la misma toalla ..)
de igual manera fue un viaje excepcional todo muy centrico lo recomendaria sin lugar a duda !

Accueil décevant : le gérant insiste pour me facturer alors qu'Expedia l'a déjà fait lors de la réservation. J'ai dû appeler Expédia pour que l'hôtelier me rembourse.
Aucune information sur les services ni l'heure du petit déjeuner.
Décoration originale mais aucune isolation. Nous avons passé la nuit à entendre les clients du dessus taper des pieds et le bébé crier. La chambre donnant directement sur la salle du petit déjeuner, nous n'avons pas pu profiter d'un moment tranquille le matin non plus. Vraiment aucune intimité. Promiscuité qui ne permet pas de se détendre. Pas de possibilité de changer de chambre.
Cheveux dans la douche. Bonne literie. Petit déjeuner correct. Quand à la piscine qui n'est qu'un bassin où l'eau est trop froide pour permettre d'y aller et le jacuzzi, cela reste très décevant.

Situé dans un quartier apparemment peu reluisant, on se retrouve dans un petit îlot de finesse et d'élégance, avec un cachet ancien très appréciable. L'accueil chaleureux met tout de suite dans l'ambiance. Une formidable expérience que je revivrai avec plaisir quand je reviendrai à Marseille.

Hôtel mal placé et sale

Mauvais endroit. Rue lugubre, près du cours Lieutaud, une des artères les plus désagréables de la ville (que des magasins de motos), chambre salle (plâtres, plancher, salle de douche), aucun service dans les chambres, ni savon, ni téléphone, pas de sèche-cheveux, petite fenêtre qui n'apporte aucune lumière, pas d'espace, pas de bureau, on doit écrire sur ses genoux, du toc (fausses poutres apparentes au plafond), marketing construit sur la piscine extérieure non-chauffée que personne ne peut utiliser hors saison. Propriétaires vivant à côté qui ne parlent jamais à leurs hôtes. Du faux. Seule bonnes notes: le gérant, roumain, est très sympa et la cuisine pour le petit déjeuner est jolie. Bref, à éviter.

près du centre ville tout peut être fait à pied

la rue des Bergers est très étroite, pas de place devant l'hôtel pour se garer et prendre les bagages.
Donc se munir de patience.
la chambre qui nous était dédié était au 3ème étage sans ascenseur, un escalier en bois bien étroit que je ne conseille pas du tout aux enfants et aux personnes à mobilité réduite. la chambre L'Estaque était petite, à peine la place de mettre une valise et de circuler autour.

Des bons... et des mauvais côtés

Habitué de cet hôtel le service c'est dégradé avec le temps. Le cadre est d'une architecture exceptionnelle : le mobilier, le jardin et la piscine en pierre, bois et métal sont parfaits. Le petit-déjeuner est limité et donc équilibré. Toutefois, comme dit précédemment, le service n'est pas au rendez-vous. Le ménage est passé d'un rythme quotidien à pas de ménage du tout (après trois jours je côtoie encore emballages et bouteilles vides). Le niveau de propreté laisse clairement à désirer. Et vient le réceptionniste, déjà peu bavard, qui devient vite désagréable si l'on ne se plie pas à son rythme. J'ai essayé de ne voir que les bons côtés mais la panne de climatisation et la sensation de déranger ont fini par avoir raison de mon attachement au cadre et à la position centrale de ce lieu. Je n'y retournerai pas et ne le recommanderai plus.

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in deze chambre d'hote in centrum Nice. Het is duidelijk dat het is vormgegeven door iemand met oog voor details: Iemand die in staat was dit chambre d'hote zo smaakvol in te richten. Het was een heerlijke vakantie-ervaring om in zo'n omgeving te kunnen afkoelen in het fijne zwembad en het ontbijt in zo'n fijne ruimte te nuttigen. Absolute aanrader!

Zentral in der Stadt und sehr landestypisch

Sehr freundlicher Inhaber. Es ist ein sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetes kleines Hotel. Das Bad und die Dusche waren absolut sauber und in Ordnung. Anders als in den großen modernen Hotels, aber sehr geschmackvoll. Es gab keinen Fön auf dem Zimmer. WLAN bekam man nur im Speisehaus, das war aber kein Problem. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und würden wieder kommen

Just one night, not for more.

Antigua hotel in which you can enjoy extraordinary experience. But you have to endure the inconvenience of no elevator, no parking lot, no staffs who can speak English.

Décevant quand on compare avec les photos. Lits trop petits!! Chambres sans Tv. Le concept est super mais ce n'est pas assez chaleureux pour être réussi. Le point positif: coin Jacuzzi au top!

Charmigt hotell i den gamla delen av Marseille. Lite korta sängar men annars var det helt ok. Trevligt att bada i poolen efter en lång dag på stan.

tous très sympa, fait avec du gout et originalité, personne à l'accueil très sympa aussi, nous sommes resté juste une nuit et ravis de trouver ce style d'établissement en plein coeur de Marseille , le jaccusi un délice, l'eau dans la piscine un peu froid mais l'idée génial, parfait

Time for some grounding

If you are sick of 5* hotels, this is the place to go for some grounding. Overall nice stay, friendly host (speaks no english, but even without everything was there). My room was nice, but there was an even nicer, romantic room on the ground floor. WiFi worked well.

Au calme en plein centre-ville

Maison de caractère au calme en plein centre-ville, avec jacuzzi et piscine. Stationnement très difficile mais il existe 2 parkings payants à proximité. Accueil et petit-déjeuner très bien, chambre jolie et confortable ; un seul bémol : la chambre n'était pas celle demandée (2 lits doubles au lieu de 1 lit double + 2 lits simples)

Arrivés en millieu de journée, nous avons été bien accueillis et avons reçu toute information utile pour notre séjour et notre confort. locaux propres et accueillants, seul petit bémol sur la propreté de draps trouvés tâchés à l'ouverture du lit, ainsi qu'une malheureuse petite araignée glissée dans le lit, ce qui peut contrarier certaines personnes... mis à part un lit qui grince un peu trop à notre goût et un petit manque de serviette de toilette par rapport au nombre que nous étions ... pour le reste, le lieu est tres sympathique et tres agréable ; séjour tres agréable malgré tout, merci

Mysig oas mitt i stan

Vi bodde två nätter i ett mysigt rum. Tyst och lugnt. Sängarna var kanske i kortaste laget men helt ok för oss. Trevligt bemötta och omhändertagna. Vi badade i det varma bubbelbadet som var perfekt efter en dag på stan.
