The resort is quiet and boring. Couldn't do too many activities due to them saying we couldn't have 2 people it needed to be a party of 4 minimum. Food was good and some of the staff were friendly but most of them didn't speak or were that helpful. The beach is nice if you're into it.I wouldn't go back and I left 2 days early rather then staying the whole trip.

I'm going to file a complaint because they didn't give me the ocean-view room I reserved and paid for. They kept giving me excuses, saying they were going to speak to the manager, and were only offering me rooms that didn't actually have an ocean view. They told me only the suites have one, which I don't understand because the room I paid for clearly states \"ocean view.\" The view I had was of the pool; I have a video of the room

Our stay at Azura Beach Resort was overall just okay. The absolute highlight of the resort was the staff. In particular, Alonzo was hands-down the best server I have ever had. I found myself specifically returning to the restaurant hoping he would be there because he was attentive, responsive, offered great recommendations, kept our drinks coming, and genuinely made us feel welcomed and cared for in a foreign country. Employees like Alonzo are the reason guests return.

That said, there are several areas where this beautiful property could improve and go from “okay” to truly amazing.

The room itself had a noticeable mildew/mold smell from the moment we arrived. While we did not experience bed bugs, the mattress and furnishings did not appear clean. There were black spots and water-ring stains on some furniture that looked like mold and made the room feel less inviting. We also had ants coming into the room throughout our stay.

The resort caters to many international travelers, so I was surprised by the limited television options available. Expanding the entertainment offerings would greatly improve the guest experience.

Staffing also appeared to be an issue. Activities were canceled during our last two days because the person responsible for running them was off work. It was surprising that there seemed to be only one employee capable of managing those activities. Resorts sh

This hotel is peaceful and perfect for a couples vacation. The housekeeping wasn’t really cleaning for example our sheets became dirty instead of them changing the sheets they made the bed up with the exact sheet on opposite side, they left the garbage and the cups of alcohol that were left on the mini fridge. Other than that the property is amazing food is amazing bartenders will have those drinks coming. It wasn’t to crowded as it is a small all inclusive resort. I will definitely be staying there again.

Wilkin was our server Nokia restaurant. He was always attentive and had a warm greeting. The
Ribeye, roasted potatoes with pesto sauce, and side house salad. Spinach ravioli with white sauce. Solid 8 on meal. 10 on server. Kimberly and Axel at Chill & Grill were so sweet. Very courteous and accommodating. The wings, burgers, onion rings, and Ceasar salad was a good lunch option. Drinks were flowing. 8/10
Room service was ordered on the third day in advance. Arrived on time. Ceasar salad. Salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies. Cheesecake had strawberry and sliced grape with sauce on it. Not mentioned on menu. Overall 7/10. Breakfast was always good. Made to order omelets, fresh juice, some sort of meat (bacon, sausage or hash), plantain, peas and rice and an assortment of fruit. Francisco was our server multiple times and was always kind and offered great suggestions when asked. A few suggestions would be not to have electrical equipment going before 0800 in the mornings. We weren't able to sleep in. Power outages 3x. Rooms need to have microwaves and the refrigerators need to have bottled water as a stocked selection. . I had to purchase Chrisal water at the gift store for $5 US and $8.50 for one bottle of Evian. Also, no entertainment was provided or advertised and excursions were limited due to multiple ATV breakdowns. Won't be fixed until June. Overall 7/10

The hotel was great. Nice rooms, nice hotel layout. Aaron, Axel and Wendy and others were extremely friendly and likable. Beach is awesome.

However, the front desk staff leave a lot to be desired. NON HELPFUL, ATTITUDE BOARDING ON DISRESPECT AND A REALLY COULD CARE LESS DEMEANOR. NEVER HAD THAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCE BEFORE. I WOULD NOT GO BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE. SEVERAL PEOPLE WE SPOKE TO THERE FELT THE SAME WAY.

I didn’t have a good experience with the concierge, Luis. He was stubborn and didn’t give us accurate information we were misquoted on a few things. Another issue is that they don’t spray or treat for mosquitoes, and no one tells you to bring repellent, which felt misleading.

Luis also pressured my husband and me to use an unauthorized vehicle for horse riding. When we asked what would happen if something went wrong, he avoided the question and kept saying that if we didn’t go, we wouldn’t get our money back. Overall, it felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable.

Mi estadía en Azura Beach Resort fue simplemente espectacular de principio a fin. Honestamente, ha sido una de las mejores experiencias que he vivido en un hotel en Costa Rica. Desde el momento en que llegamos, nos hicieron sentir especiales, bienvenidos y completamente relajados. El ambiente del hotel es hermoso, tranquilo y perfecto para desconectarse y disfrutar cada segundo.

La comida fue absolutamente deliciosa todos los días. Cada restaurante tenía opciones increíbles, todo fresco, bien preparado y con una atención impecable. Se nota la dedicación y el esfuerzo que ponen para que cada huésped tenga una experiencia inolvidable. Todo estuvo mucho mejor de lo que imaginábamos.

Pero lo que realmente hizo esta experiencia única fueron las personas. Quiero agradecer especialmente a Axcel, Wendy y Christian por hacer nuestra estadía algo fuera de otro mundo. La atención, la amabilidad, el cariño y la energía con la que nos trataron fue algo que nunca había vivido en otro lugar. Siempre atentos a cada detalle, siempre con una sonrisa y haciéndonos sentir como en casa. Personas así hacen toda la diferencia y definitivamente son parte de la razón por la que este hotel es tan especial.

Nunca me había sentido tan cómoda, feliz y bien atendida en un resort. Cada día superaba al anterior y realmente lograron convertir unas vacaciones en recuerdos inolvidables. Se nota cuando un lugar tiene personal que trabaja con pasión y que le gusta lo que hace.

Overall my wife and I made the best of it and enjoyed; however we will never return to this resort. The good was really the staff. They work very long shifts - you might see the breakfast server as the bartender in the evening. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Now the bad…We saw on the site that there was construction at a neighboring resort; however they start early and work until late. The construction could be heard all day long - even during the massage with music on. To add insult to injury - they began construction in a room 2 doors down from us last few days we were there. It was so loud we couldn’t even hear the tv so we spent last few days outside our room which was fine with us as we like to be outdoors but returning to the room was miserable. Our last night, we finally asked to switch rooms. The client services manager said would have to ask general manager. All they did was not respond until the work day was finished so they could say oh no need work is finished. Would have been an easy fix - just another room for 1 night and half day but they chose to handle in poor service manner. The rainfall shower head sprayed in all directions due to the water mineral deposits blocking. The walk to the rental car is completely dark, trees and bushes etc were not well maintained. After the construction was complete - we could hear rodents on the roof all night - wife had to turn on soothing sounds to drown em out.

Food was great and definitely made the experience better. There was lots of hammering and construction going on so that made the stay not so relaxing. Seemed difficult to get towels, they never answer front desk phone and the hot water is hit and miss. Property is nice, beach access was easy and the pools were clean. Area is remote so arrange transportation before arriving as the property is 2+ hours away from Liberia Airport.

The meals were average at best, nothing memorable. The room was clean but not well stocked. The furnishings were old (curtains torn and dirty), mismatched cups with chips and stains. Only one of everything in a room for two people so we had to ask for the second coffee cups etc. the one plus was the water dispenser in the room that served hot, room temp and cold water.

Desde momento que llegamos tuvimos un trato muy diferente en comparación con los extranjeros, en la recepción un trato tosco y poco informativos, en el restaurante demasiado tiempo espera para ser atendidos y las bebidas nunca llegaron algunos de los saloneros nos ignoraban como sino nos vieran, no había agua embotellada para los nacionales, el control televisor no funcionaba tratamos reportarlo a la recepción donde normalmente se reporta y el teléfono tampoco funcionaba cuando fuimos nos indicaron que no era con ellos sino con el área administrativa hacia donde nos dirigimos y nunca atendieron la solicitud.

Absolutely loved our stay here! Staff are beyond kind. Property is beautiful and natural. Rooms are large and contain everything you need. Samara is beautiful and offers a wide range of activities to do off the resort. Such as side by side rides, horseback riding, day excursions, scuba diving, and lots more!
We planned a lot of them at the excursion desk upfront with Luis, he was wonderful. At the front desk of the hotel Diego, Donovan and Josue always were there to help with any and everything. Food was always great, Kenneth,Burner,Donny and Alonso were always there to help at the chill and grill and other restaurants. The spa is a must visit, I had a deep tissue massage from Celenie and it was much needed after scuba diving (use Samara dive school and meet 5 minutes down the beach!) the gift shop on site is so convenient, even offering shipping for coffee and chocolate, this was Josie, Eli, Maikol, and Marco to thank for that and also recommending all the best local snacks.10/10 resort

Upon arrival, the front desk was disorganized and not customer service oriented. We were simply asked for a $200 security deposit with no explanation of hotel amenities—no Wi-Fi details, brochure, or map. The hotel appears poorly managed and understaffed, and some staff members do not speak English.When we were escorted to our room, we immediately noticed issues. The bar fridge was not stocked, and the floors were still dirty from previous guests. We had booked an ocean view room, but the view was extremely limited—this should honestly be labeled as a “partial ocean view,” as the advertising is misleading.While the resort itself is small, quiet, and the property is visually nice with beautiful sunsets, the room had serious cleanliness and maintenance problems. The towels were dirty, yellowed, ripped, and had makeup stains. The glasses had visible lipstick marks. The sliding door did not close properly, leaving a gap that allowed bugs inside. The blackout curtain initially didn’t work, and once fixed, we saw it was heavily stained and possibly moldy. Although we reported these issues right away, it was disappointing that the room had not been properly cleaned to begin with. We were also locked out of our room multiple times due to malfunctioning key cards (the door lock batteries had to be replaced). The safe didn’t work and required maintenance to reset it. Towels were not replaced daily, and the shower had low pressure with barely warm water.

The hotel room was spacious and clean. The property is clean, well-decorated, and we felt very safe. The staff was very friendly and appreciated a friendly conversation. Many of the staff recognized my partner and me and remembered our drink orders. The pool is absolutely beautiful and well-maintained, but we wish there were more pool chairs with umbrellas, as the sun is very intense. The beach is gorgeous with safe swimming access, which was a huge plus. The restaurants were great, but we were unsure about how to access the Nikoa restaurant and pool. We only stayed a week, and we thought that if we stayed longer, the food options would get old, which was why we were trying to figure out the other restaurants. The Nikoa pool and restaurant seemed like a super-nice, new part of the property that was hardly used at all. We also attended the free yoga classes on-site at the hotel, and the instructor was excellent. However, the hotel gym was old, dirty, and had no AC, which was crazy considering it's over 90 degrees every day. Overall, we would definitely stay at this hotel again. We felt we got a lot of value for what we paid!

Great potential, but major issues across the board.
Our room had a strong, unpleasant odor that came and went throughout the day, which made it uncomfortable. The door lock also broke twice during our stay, and one repair took about 30 minutes due to staff having issues with their equipment/WiFi.
The all-inclusive experience was disappointing. Food quality was below average, and every day they were out of something—ranging from basics like orange juice to even chicken. That level of inconsistency is frustrating when everything is supposed to be included.
The amenities were also lacking. One of the two pools was consistently cloudy and unusable, outdoor furniture was often dirty, and there was a shortage of pool towels.
On top of that, the power flickered frequently and went out completely at least twice a day, even if only for a few minutes.
Overall, this property has potential, but there are too many operational and maintenance issues to justify the cost. Significant improvements are needed before I would consider returning.

This is definitely a resort that caters to an older and less active clientele. Other than the pool there are no \"activities\" to speak of on the resort, other than tennis courts that are a 1/4 - 1/2 mile walk away from the main area. They were also short on pool chairs, so if you don't get there early you might not get one.

The food was \"good\", but the options are very limited. Only 3 Lunch/Dinner restaurants and 1 Breakfast buffet. If you want food during the day you'll have to get it from the Pool Bar or flag someone down at the Main Bar. As for the bars, they don't open until 12pm and EVERYTHING shuts down promptly at 10pm. If you're looking for anything to do after that it had better be in town.

The rooms were nice, but the water in the shower/tub/sink never got HOT and the room never really got cool enough to sleep comfortably.

Overall, it was a very pretty resort, if not a little overpriced, and definitely for people at a slower pace.

Overall, the resort was amazing. I’ll start with the positives. It is a small, adults only resort. No line-ups, quick service, easy to navigate, etc. the rooms are large and spacious, with the toilet in a separate area on its own (nice feature). The AC worked great, there was a water machine in the room, and the balcony was spacious as well. One bartender in particular (at the pool bar) was amazing. When we tried to tip him separately, he wouldn’t accept it and put it in the tip jar saying, “We are a team.” The beach is nice and only a 30 minute walk into Sámara (cabs are available too). A few minor annoyances…the food options were very limited and the food was hit or miss. Some days it was really good and other days it was just meh. The room wasn’t completely cleaned every day - we couldn’t rely on coffee or fridge being replenished, and glassware wasn’t cleaned regularly either. Many workers only spoke broken English and didn’t understand us. Hindsight, we should have used a translation app. Finally, there was not a monkey to be seen. That was probably the most disappointing for us lol. Despite that, it was an amazing vacation.

Amazing Staff Hampered by Significant Management Failures
I have mixed feelings about our stay. On one hand, the employees were terrific—hardworking, welcoming, and truly dedicated to service. However, the resort is severely poorly managed. We faced daily shortages of basic essentials: no beach towels, pool chairs, bath towels, or even shampoo. The supply issues extended to the bars and restaurants, which were constantly out of staples like coffee, beer, and specific menu items. The staff does their best, but management is failing to provide them with the tools to run a functional resort.
I would not stay here again.

Upon arrival, the front desk didn't seem organized at all. Seemed like a poorly trained staff. Once we were escorted to our room we noticed the bar fridge wasn't stocked and the floors were not mopped (still dirty from previous guests). The room was spacious. There wasn't any hot water in the shower :(. We did eat at the Italian restaurant, but i can't say that the food was that great either :S

THE MAIN COMPLAINT - my husband received a call from his doctor back home that his test results came in and he needed to get back home and be admitted to hospital ~ this was a truly unexpected event. So the day we checked in, we had to book a flight home the following day hence only staying 1 out of 7 nights. We explained this very unfortunate situation to the front desk manager and we felt that she understood the urgency and would request a provision on our account as we had to fly back home. A month later, we were informed that the hotel would NOT refund any portion of this stay - BAD KARMA Azura Beach! This was an emergency, we provided hospital documentation from our return and they chose not to offer any compensation. I realize that we were past the cancellation date, but common, that's POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

No towels when we checked in and they often didn't replenish them without asking, toilet was never cleaned, power went out often, asked concierge a question then was directed to someone else then back to him then back to someone else... That happened on multiple occasions. Battery in our door died and it took them over an hour to change it. Overall did not feel customer service oriented whatsoever.
The food was good, the pool bar staff was phenomenal (Farid, Yesin, George) without them it would have been a complete fail of a trip however I would not recommend this location to anyone.

Chambre avec vu sur la mer et coin piscine. Seulement 1 restaurant pour dîner et 3 pour souper avec réservation obligatoire, les draps n’avaient pas été changés à notre arrivée, nous avions accès à la piscine de notre chambre et notre coin piscine était toujours sale. Aucune vu sur mer de la chambre. Peu de chaises à la plage, et elles sont très loin du barre de mer.

Facility is lovely but the service staff is poorly trained, with the exception of the bar tenders. The quality of the food was disappointing. For example, sea bass is not talapia and the rib steak… not even close!

Resort is beautiful and rooms are updated and clean. The food is incredible! Swim out room was amazing.

The resort is small. Approx 75 rooms and seemed like only 40% full between Christmas and new years.

Out of all the restaurants, only 2 were open on any given night and get your reservation in by 9am to stand a chance of getting in.

The service is beyond terrible. When ordering drinks, order 2 or 3 at a time as it takes 30 plus minutes to get them - even if there are few people. We ate one night at the italian restaurant and it took so long the waitress asked people to leave as they needed the tables for people waiting. This was while we were still eating. Same night we ordered 2nd round of drinks while waiting for food. A huge eye roll and a huff from waitress. 45 minutes later asked to leave and never did get 2nd drink.

Water was muddy brown and dirty the entire time - not very enjoyable.

This resort has nothing for daytime entertainment by the pool. Just very bad yacht rock themed music over bad speakers. Absolutely nothing happens anywhere at anytime. Everything closes at 10, which means drinks are done by 9:15. Closing at 10 means lights out and employees leave.

If you want to get to town plan ahead. Taxis area minimum 1 hour wait. We got lucky with an uber which the front desk said is illegal- worked anyway.

The one way shuttle ride is just under 3 hours from Liberia and just over 4 hours from San Jose so plan accordingly.

The property is very clean and pretty modern right on the beach. The room was wonderful and the staff were pleasant and always helpful. We enjoyed the entire week. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. While there were plenty of places to eat with several different styles of food, nothing really jumped out. The whole Samara area is really nice and pretty quiet. You can walk on the beach all the way to town (about 2 miles). It was a little hot in the afternoon.

The Resort and grounds were beautiful. The food was really good at all the restaurants. The staff was accommodating and nice. It’s a very chill and lowkey resort so if you’re looking for beautiful scenery and our relaxation, this is the place for you!

The room was great. We had the deluxe king swim up with an ocean view. Most of the staff was courteous and the overall resort was good. There needs to be an improvement on the food and the selection. Also, the resort needs to buy more bath towels and pool towels. It was like pulling teeth just to get a towel. I would have still rated 4 stars. However, the morning we needed to check out we got locked out of our room for over an hour before anyone could resolve the problem (the batteries needed changing in the door lock). We ended up arriving later to the airport. We stayed at Azura Beach in April 2024 and we came back because we really enjoyed it. However, after this stay, we will not be back any time soon.

To be improved:
Customer Service: There is a Whatsapp number that you need to reach out to book dinners at their different restaurants and book tours, the issue is that there is only 1 person to answer the chat and has other duties so it takes somewhere between 2 and 4 hours to get an answer…
Staff: It seems that there is no management and to train new people, if you ask for their food service times they all say something different so you don’t really know if breakfast time is over or not or if it is snack time or whatever.
Morning Snack Time: We were at the hotel 4 days, some staff said morning snacks were at 9 am, some other at 10 am and some at noon, the thing is that there was no morning snack time in any of the four days, one day a lady just said “the guy who cooks didn’t come”… so, solve it, if not is it even all inclusive?… then other day the guy showed up at 11:20, and starting organizing some stuff in the kitchen so that time passed by, lunch time and he left, 40 minutes doing nothing…
Jorge or George: he is just lost, we don’t know if it was that he wasn’t trained or something but he asked for our order 3 different meal times and he forgot all 3, there had to be someone else checking orders because George was completely lost…
Wifi: The Wifi is just useless, no connection and when it connects is super slow… and it doesn’t get to 3rd floor, it just connect but their isnt.

Terrible from beginning to the end. Started off claiming I didn’t pay a deposit, which Expedia confirmed was paid. Demanded full payment. Food awful, drinks, awful. Service seriously lacking but not bc of the staff but bc they were severely understaffed. Room service is non-existent. We ended up buying our own alcohol as they only served non branded liquor and beer one beer. Had to chase down house keeping to get a towel bc when they cleaned,they took the dirty towels including hand and wash cloths but only left ONE shower towel afterwards. My husband asked for two pillows and they told him they probably “wouldn’t do that”. So many problems, too many to list.

My fiancé and I were traveling and checked into our rented condo, but unfortunately the AC was broken. We looked up AZURE and decided to check out this location for our week-long stay. From the minute we walked in the door, the staff was kind and welcoming, and we received a tour of the resort and immediately fell in love with it. We decided to book and stay for the week.

I have had the opportunity to travel to other all‑inclusive locations, and this one was by far the best place I have stayed at. This resort is truly 5 stars. The staff, food, and rooms were all top‑notch. This is a smaller, adults‑only resort; we enjoyed the pools and quiet atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to relax and unwind.

The Shade in Room didn’t work so finally the last night they came to look at it said they will have to come back
The swing chair on porch. The class was bent when we got there so I asked them to fix it. They put a real small cheap ring on it and said it was fixed. Then my wife and I sat in it and it fell. I hit the ground hurt my back. I’m 65 years old. All they did was says are you OK and then they came back and put a bigger clasp on it, and just my wife sat in it from their own.
The pillows on the bed were for a twin bed
The mattress had only flat sheet should have fitted sheet
The bar had certain items like Malibu rum when we got there not top shelf liquor
The steak night was terrible very fatty meat
The staff Mrs. Kayla was awesome

This was a great vacation and all of the staff were very friendly. It’s a two hour drive from Liberia but is quieter than most all inclusive resorts which is what we were looking for. They had rotating restaurants to reserve for dinner with unique menus and made great drinks.

Beautiful boutique hotel. Loved the pool and the beach. It wasn’t busy in early November. The bar services excellent cocktails with quality alcohol. Friendly staff. Loved the certified yoga instructor. More 8am classes would be awesome
Cons-AC not working in gym. Increasing size of gym would be an asset. Terrible bathroom, designs a solid door would help.

My stay at Azura was fantastic! Everything about this adult-only hotel felt relaxing and well thought out. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were incredibly attentive and always went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.

One of the biggest highlights was the beach of Carrillo, located right next to the property — absolutely stunning and peaceful, easily the highlight of the entire trip.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I’m giving it four stars only because nothing’s ever completely perfect, but this came very close! I’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, adults-only getaway.

What a wonderful resort. The beds were comfortable the air conditioning appreciated and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Also, when you stay at an all inclusive resort it can tend to have mediocre food. That was not the case with this property. Our lunches and dinners were fantastic and it just added to our trip being delicious and relaxing!

This isn’t a large resort. Everything closes at 10 literally everything. I don’t like that the restaurant only opened on certain nights and I had a swim up room but no one came to clean the leaves out the pool other then once at night when we’re trying to get dress. The staff was slow moving. All request had to go through WhatsApp and I found my self sending the same text more than once. No live activity, games, or entertainment on this resort which I didn’t like. Food was good, drinks depending on who made them if they was good or not. This resort is for relaxing only that’s it.

The resort and its location was gorgeous and lush. Tucked away in a remote part of Costa Rica, Samará is blessed with mountains and ocean views.

Azura was quiet escape from the hustle and allowed us to feel relaxed. The resort restaurants were excellent, my favorite being the Chill & Grill.

I was underwhelmed by the spa service and the gym, however it didn’t dampen my overall experience and happily recommend anyone to visit Samará and Azura for a calm trip.

Very pretty hotel and staff is friendly. My only complaint is the pool was not clean nor was it circulating water, so it was stagnate with people making it worse. Also the pool bartender had to keep leaving for supply reasons, so took forever to get drinks. We just walked over to main bar each time we wanted a drink. Lastly, the food could have been better but it was edible. Super quiet and relaxing though with pretty ocean and beach.

I wanted to love this property, but it fell short of being a true all-inclusive 5-star experience.

The food was subpar, and you have to schedule your meal time with the concierge every morning. They were understaffed, and it takes a while to receive any orders; However, the employees were extremely friendly and helpful.

It's a great place if you want to just relax and not be around a lot of people.
