The hotel was really good except that it was so difficult to find. It is so badly signposted that we were unable to find it despite being so close to the station. Some signs would have made the walk so much easier. It should have taken minutes but it took more than 1/2 an hour and even people who we asked/ taxi drivers and other hotel workers said it is so tricky to find.

Okay for a Solo Traveller

The location is convenient and safe. As a solo traveller, I would have appreciated a chain on the door for more peace of mind.
The room was incredibly basic but the shared areas are inviting. On one side of the bed the springs were broken, as I was by myself I just moved over but if I was with someone it would have been unbearable.
If you just need a bed to crash, this place is well connected.

Horrible experience about security of building. Someone was knocking on my door at 1am without stopping. My husband had to yell and threaten to call the police for person to go away. I thought someone was trying to gain access to my room to rob us. They did not say a word, only banging on the door. There is a vulnerable spot as lifts can be operated without electronic keys. I felt very scared and unsafe. We called the concierge and asked for someone to check CCTV. No one got back to us with an explanation or apology. NEVER going back there. Thank god it happened on my last night anyway.

An ideal hotel when travelling by train. Just a very short walk across the road from main station. Hotel quite basic but the room was comfortable and clean. There is a bar with outside seating. Bearing in mind how close it is to train station the area was very quiet at night.

Tiny room, smelly beds. The AC did not run well although I set at 17C or lower. One light in the bathroom was broken, the toilet seat was also broken. The beds were not flat, and u comfortable. I toon the video of the hotel, and could not upload since onky photos are allowed here.

Nice stay at very conveniently placed hotel next to main rail station. However, our room had almost no electrical outlets, and no coffee machine. Not dealbreakers, of course, but in a competitive market for hotel accommodation, Ibis should be providing these things.
Also, everything is a \"pay for\" extra, it seems... baggage storage, for example. Ouch.

We had a great stay at ibis Marseille Centre Gare Saint Charles! The hotel and its facilities were clean and well-kept. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and answered our questions about our scheduled train ride. While smoking is very common in Europe, it is good to keep in mind (especially if you or your young children are sensitive to the smell) that some cigarette smoke may come through your window from the café below - we didn’t mind too much ourselves. The best feature of the hotel is that it is steps away from Gare Saint-Charles station (major train station) which is extremely convenient if you have an early-morning train ride like we did!

Awkward bathroom layout

The new-since-we-were-there-in-2023 curtains are good, There are of a blockout dark grey colour and they fill the window opening.
This time we had a bathroom were the shower was next to the bathroom door which made maneuvering in and out of the shower somewhat difficult, even for the not-large person in our room.

The restaurant in the hotel is again a restaurant rather than a burger joint, which is a Good Thing as the Asian restaurant in the gare has closed down. We avoid going out and about in the streets around the gare in the evening so a decent restaurant in the hotel is welcome.

It was close to city center and next to central station where you can use the subway or buses in city. Also connection with other cities of France and nearby airport can be made easily from here.
Rooms are normal but the worst thing is there's no plug on neither headboard of the bed or inside the bathroom. Only under the desk.
Overall, it was an efficient stay.

A very pleasant stay in a conveniently located hotel. Staff are friendly and facilities are normal for an Ibis red hotel. Beware that there is no kettle or fridge in the room . I did not have breakfast there because I did not want a big breakfast so the 11 euro buffet was not required

On the second night, the bathroom was a little whiffy. The next morning, the bathroom was definitely smelly. I discovered a brown pool of liquid which seemed to have leaked from the bottom edge of the toilet onto the floor between the toilet and the bathroom window.

We stayed here as a stop over for one night. Very convenient location, right next to the Saint Charles railway station. Getting in and out is very easy. Unfortunately there was a lot of rubbish in the surrounding area of the hotel near the train station (not their fault). Room size was decent, however shower is on the smaller size. Rooms and hotel is quite dated but good for one nights stay and the price. Easy 10-15 minute walk to port with lots of restaurants.

Nice terrace & breakfast, rest disappointing

Buffet breakfast was great, with a lovely outdoor terrace to enjoy it on, and the cafe was also great. The rest was disappointing - room was horribly hot, even with aircon on max, in normal 30C summer heat, bathroom teeny tiny, room key cards would just stop working and need to be reset, witnessed several very unhygenic practices from cafe and restaurant staff, no luggage storage room like most hotels but instead expensive lockers. Could be a great hotel if they improve their air conditioning system, offer standard amenities and train staff better.

Very Basic Budget Hotel with Tiny Rooms

Single big plus of the hotel is the proximity to the main train station. This results in the hotel always being very busy & crowded. The front desk is not the most welcoming or professional. We were on the 1st floor overlooking the parking lot. It’s a very basic budget hotel with some of the smallest rooms & bathroom I have seen in 30 years of my regular travel. No tea/coffee kettle, hard beds and a single pillow. Only giving you the facts. I know if it’s a good rate you’re getting, people will book it.

Really happy. Good location. Value for money, those on a budget this works, and good for getting bus to and from airport. Bit you need to be aware it’s in the station and late nihht announcements etc. I didn’t mind tho. Breakfast basic but fine. Nice staff. Clean.

6.30am fire alarm

On out last night/morning, we were woken up by a 6.30am fire alarm. We quickly dressed and went down the fire stairs - which I am happy to say were wide and well-lit and there was no crowding as guests made their way down and out the front of the hotel.
There was no organisation from staff. We only found out we could return to our room when I sent my French speaking daughter in to talk to the staff in reception.

It is okay if you stay for one night. The hotel is located just next to the train station so it's very convenient. However, the bed is not comfortable, the AC doesn't work well and it's clean but old. The staff is nice and the breakfast was good overrall. It's a 3 stars, don't expect much.

We booked a room for three people with a double bed, a twin bed and a sofa bed. It turned out that the sofa bed WAS the twin bed. Our third was an adult and the folded down sofa bed was okay for two nights but anything more (especially if not thoroughly exhausted after two days flying/training from Australia) would not have been bearable.

Tired but with great staff

The hotel has a great location a few minutes from the main Saint Charles station with express buses to the Marseille airport and around a 15 min walk to the marina area. The hotel itself is tired with fairly small rooms. The staff are great, friendly and helpful.

This is a good clean hotel if you intend on spending most of your time exploring and enjoying the city but not a destination in itself.

I arrived at 5pm on the 28/12 and i had an amasing view on the Basilique Notre Dame de la Gardeon the 3rd floor which was very pleasant.
Also the staff was amazing (1 lady and 1 man at the reception) who helped me print my coach ticket and to find a phone charge that i forgot. Sorry i don't remember their name but they were very professional and friendly.
I booked this hotel as i didn't want to drive early in the morning as i had to take a coach from St Charles to the Alpes at 8am. This hotel is only 2 minutes walk from the St Charles train and tube station and 5 minutes walk from the coach station.
They also have a bar, room service and breakfast whch start from 4am which is great for early departure.
