Given the price point, we found this hotel to be good!
Everyone on the staff we interacted with were very friendly, the location is right next to the central train station and the price was very affordable for this location. It could be cleaner and the street outside feels a little rough at night/early morning, but overall we enjoyed this Adagio.

Convenient lodging in the heart of Marseillle

The appartment hotel is located about 100 m from the St. Charles railway and bus station, the Marseille transportation hub. The rooms face the railway station and there is noise, especially if you need to open the windows.
The airconditioning did not work and even ventilation could not be activated, because of a strong stench that came within the installation.
The beds were very good and comfortable and the room and common space are clean.
There is a 24-hour lobby presen guard.
Unfortunately there is no roof safe or organized reception safekeeping.

It’s a basic accommodation right beside the train station. It’s not especially good or attractive, but it’s absolutely adequate. It is very clean, if a little tired, and I think it’s very secure with welcoming staff, and well run. As mentioned elsewhere the AC system is a real problem, but since it was October I could open the window - although that meant a lot of sound coming in from the train station. If you need a quick stop near the station, totally fine. If staying longer in Marseille, look further.

Convenient for access to station

The hotel was adequate for what we required. We just needed to sleep prior to catching an early morning train from St Charles. The hotels proximity to the station was great. It was only about a 3-5 min walk to the station which was ideal at 530 am. Apart from that the hotel room felt quite dated. I would highly recommend for a short stay especially if one has luggage and requires close access to the train station.

Great value and convenient location

Spent two nights here in the Aparthotel Adagio near Saint Charles station. Perfect location for me and walkable to Marseille Port. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was a bit nervous about the area based on reviews I’d read but was happily surprised. I didn’t feel unsafe walking around, even at night, or uncomfortable at any time. The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped for my needs. I loved that the bathroom had a tub! The trains were right outside my window and could only hear them or the announcements when the window was open. I slept soundly and would definitely stay here again.

A weeks stay in Marseille

The Aparthotel Adagio next to Marseille Saint Charles train station is in a great location if you need to get around the city or explore the surrounding areas. Upon arrival the staff were very professional and helped us settle in.

Disappointingly our room was clearly in need of some maintenance, that was beyond the usual maid-service provided. Whilst tables, chairs, beds, fridges, kitchen utensils, TV were all of a good standard, it was clear that walls, carpets, tiles, doors were not good at all. This meant that the room felt dirty and not of an acceptable standard. Having carpets doesn't seem a logical approach in terms of the type of room & the volume of people who pass through the hotel.

There were no problems with noise at all despite being a large hotel in right opposite the train station. Therefore, it was possible to get a good nights rest.

Maybe this hotel is at the end of its life-cycle before it needs the rooms renovating sometime soon?

Comfortable apartment near station

Arrived late - after eleven at night -- train from Milan delayed en route - but warmly welcomed.

Unfortunately due to French railway strike had to be up early to catch 0645 Flixbus to Barcelona.

Would not hesitate to use this again - a hopefully with more time to enjoy it !!!

Accommodation fine and staff so friendly but we hadn't realised how close it was to the station from the map. You have to keep the room windows closed all the time because you overlook the station which has loud announcements from early morning to late night, probably 20 hours a day !!
Would not recommend it to others because of this.

We didn't have enough towels, have to call and complain, the room was not clean all week while I was there , no bed sheets were changed all week , I call and was told since since am staying a week , it was not part of my options, unless I pay to get the services .

Very convenient location, right next to Gare de Marseille, this was the reason we chose this hotel and it was perfect for that purpose! However, this part of town felt not very safe. That said, the security at the front desk seemed ok, everyone going in and out needed to buzz in via front desk. There was a fast food smell coming through the vents when we got back to the hotel after dinner, and we couldn't work out how to get rid of it, other than open the window (facing the street), but as mentioned before, we couldn't leave the window open all night because security felt like it potentially could have been a problem. Also, it's not very quiet, because of the announcements coming from Gare de Marseille.

The hotel is out of date; old smelly dark carpet and the linen (bed and towels) were old. The bathroom was renovated and nice. The hotel staff was excellent. Very accommodating to the best of their ability with the supplied facility. Good price but I would pay 20 euro more and go to a better place in hindsight

An average hotel in an unpleasant part of Marseill

I wouldn't recommend this place - it's a very average hotel and could do with a good tarting up.

Had an experience using the iron where it damaged a shirt of mine. Spoke to reception and they wouldn't help at all or even give me a token to use the €4 washing machine. Seemed unnecessary from their side to not placate a customer in this way. Insisting that the equipment is used at the customer's risk is not a strategy; I only wanted a free wash to make it good.

The receptionist did nothing about the underlying issue with the iron and when I checked out the next day the iron was still there exactly the same.

It's a small example but gives you a good idea about what the place is like in general.

Staff very unwelcoming with the exception to the ladies who were generally helpful and smilly, the hotel is non smoking but people are allowed to smoke and staff can not enforce the hotel's policy.
We reported to them that we were affected by smoke coming to our room from next room, they didn't care, they said they would charge extra money to the offenders only if smoke alarm in their rooms went off, that's all they could do.

Spacious appartment in convenient location

The hotel is right next to Marseille TGV which was great because we arrived quite late on the train. Our room faced an inner courtyard so it was quiet. It's apartment-style so it's spacious and has all the essentials covered. It was clean but has very basic decoration. It's about a 15 minute walk to the old port. We didn't try the breakfast but would recommend one of the many cafes nearby.

Clean, handy for station and centre.

If you stay for more than 4 days they don't clean the rooms, empty the bins or change the towels. we took our rubbish in plastic bags to a bin outside every morning. Not that it's a hardship, just seems a little strange for a hotel not to clean the rooms.
Very handy for the train station and 20 minutes walk from the harbour. Good soundproofing so you can't hear the train station announcements if the windows are closed. Very friendly staff.

The weather was unusually warm for the time of year so air conditioning not being available for our stay spoilt the advantage of being close to main train line and metro. Opening a window not an option as we overlooked the train line. Staff were helpful enough and spoke good English. They don't clean the rooms !

We stayed there for 10 nights. The room itself is not bad. But ! They only clean the rooms once a week: they don't change the towels, don't clean the trash or even provide toilet paper ! And this is not a case of a bad employee, it's written hotel policy.

You are also expected to clean up yourself and take out the trash when you leave. What kind of hotel does that ?!

The breakfast was very basic, just milk, coffee, croissants, jam, bread, yoghurt and corn flakes/muesli. No eggs, no ham or cheese, no fruits etc. And even these frequently are finished and are not refilled. We had to ask for water and bread only to hear \"it's finished, sorry\", half an hour or more before the breakfast closing time. Eventually we asked for our breakfast money back for the remaining days.

Also: In the rooms there's no wifi, just an ethernet cable. So, no internet for your smartphone or tablet. Bring a spare wifi router you might have lying around, otherwise you'll have to go down to the lobby, the only place with wifi; it's funny to see that, late at night, everybody is there with their pyjamas and iPhones.

The location is right by the side of St. Charles train station. I can imagine that it might be convenient for some people but frankly, it's an awful, and unsafe, place to live.

The hotel was clean but basic and not really value for money. If you need to stay near the train station pick another hotel in the area with better facilities (there are numerous). The breakfast for 8 euros per person is highway robbery, go somewhere else for breakfast. This hotel's only real plus was the 24 hour laundry room in the hotel.

Low-grade hotel near train station

The air conditioning does not work (ventilates but the air is not cold). Wifi internet, while included in the price of the room, rarely works. The shower runs out of hot water after about 3 minutes. You receive NO room service if staying more than two nights. You are fined by the hotel if you do not clean the room yourself before vacating. The hotel breakfast occasionally runs out of key food items like bread. The surrounding neighborhood is dangerous and sketchy. The only positives: relatively low cost, and right near the train station for convenience of intercity travel.

Booked a room for my family of 4. We got a nice apartment with a bedroom with a double bed, and a living-dining room with a futon for 2 and a nice kitchen. My only complaint is that the futon was not particularly comfortable, espeacially with 2 people sleeping on it. But otherwise, the experience is really pleasent. The hotel was located right beside Gare St Charles, which also means close access to Metro. The room is clean with good decor, and the personal kitchen is just superb, completed with sauspan, bowls, knifes and all cookeries. Air-conditioned, cleaning everyday, and a free internet access. A nice stay indeed!

Good for an overnighter, convenient for Rail

Allthough our room overlooked the railway station, there was absolutely no noise whatsoever from the station or announcements when the window was closed, the room has acon so that was OK, the small kitchen was a bonus as we kept icecreams in the freezer and the ability to make tea was great, we didn't cook as it was just an overnighter! It was clean and had an area for breakfast which we didn't use, after checking out we kept our luggage in the locked breakfast room. The area surrounding the hotel is NOT good but as long as you \"blend in\" (eg. I turned my engagement ring round, wore casual clothes and didn't flaunt \"it\" ) you will be fine, there are restaurants everywhere and we ate in a local one which was good and cheap too. Marseille is the capital of culture 2013 and there is a lot of work going on at the moment so expect traffic delays, it cost about 24 euros from the port to the hotel, and the bus is 8 euros from the station which is a two mins walk from the hotel to the airport.

It gave a fresh and comfortable feeling already in the lobby. The room was clean and suited perfect in size for the four of us. The bathroom was modern and had a shower. The hotel is located just by the station so it was easy to find our way and no need to carry around our bags for a long time. The whole neighbourhood was a bit rough, but on the other side the whole of Marsielle was a bit rough. I recommend the hotel if you travel with your friends on a leisure trip - suited just perfect!

Idéal avant croisière

Hôtel à 2 pas de la gare avec un accueil très agréable. Le hall d’accueil est d’ailleurs très bien décoré.
Chambre impeccable et propre.
Petit déjeuner très varié.
