The apartment needs a complete spring clean. On entering there was a smell of stale cigarette smoke, carpet needs a wash, soap scum in shower, grouting in bottom of shower filthy, curtains need washing, stove hotplates need cleaning, streaks on kitchen cupboards, dishwasher, oven door and windows/mirrors, dust on top of air conditioner, to name a few things.

We hired 3 rooms. Great location, but: Two rooms were good in terms of facilities and cleanliness, however the third room that we had for two nights, had a great deal of mold in the shower. The vinyl couch had tears that covered 20% of the seat. One bed was nice the other queen size bed was terribly hard. We were quoted $ 18 for carparking, on exit we were charged $ 30 for each car. There was no one to speak to as there is no staff on the weekend. Will not go back here.

I didn't know that there was no air conditioning at time of booking and the windows did not open to allow fresh air so had to open front door and balcony door.
we are non smokers and had to empty full ashtray from balcony.
bathroom vanity tap constantly running (could not be turned off).
Queen bedroom bedside lamp faulty.
Tv in King bedroom positioned too low - not watchable from bed.
Tv in living room positioned too low also.
Absolutely not value for cost - would not stay here again.

Really Nice place but was a bit disappointed this time,prob unknown to owner but we go back late went to bed, toilet ran all night, self flushed every minute=no sleep, we also found a compression sock in the end of the bed,mattress was stuffed and the ash tray in the door way full and stunk, not really good enough for those rates.

We have just finished a very nice stay at the Clocktower. Having stayed many times for business this was my first visit with the family. Rooms were basic and showing their age but quite tidy. The main bedroom lacked a TV as shown in images online, the dryer was out of order and the kitchen a little under stocked, missing things like a frying pan. There was also a very odd toilet seat cover Velcro attached to the toilet seat. The staff were very attentive and made some great suggestions for local restaurants. Overall the negatives were all quite minor and the stay was very pleasant for my family and I. The location is amazing and very central. We’d be keen to stay again.

The apartment had all the amenities described on their website. The chap on reception was nice and very helpful. Public transport was a 2 block walk, which is fine if you don't mind the walk. Plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants etc to choose from.
**However, the cleanliness in some of the rooms left a lot to be desired. The vinyl floors were not clean, the skirting boards in the toilet looked like they had not been wiped for a few weeks and there was a large clump of hair sitting in the shower.
The water from the taps was cloudy and off colour, which did not look great. (This was an older style apartment, so maybe it was just from the pipes in the building). Also, the mattresses were very hard. I am not sure that I would stay here again.
I just think this motel needs to invest in a much more competent cleaning service.

The place can get a little noisy from the nearby rooms, especially in the morning.

There was a spider web in the bathroom and the lights were not cleaned for a while.

However it is very close to Lygon St and the check in was quick and easy.

The apartment was quite large, but the TV was small.

Where to begin? Late check-in required something akin to an Escape Room experience, getting a key from a nearby convenience store, watching a video about the complicated parking process, wandering through the labyrinth of a parking garage to find the scanner to open the gate to park the car. Except... the parking was supposed to cover 2 days, and instead covered 1, so we made another phone call, jaunt to an office for a new scan code... It was all quite an adventure. I will say that the manager was absolutely amazing and kind and accommodating, but seemingly unable to extricate himself from the bizarro world of checking in and parking. The room itself was a huge disappointment. The kitchen faucet was broken and leaking. The stovetop was beyond gross. Pots and pans looked as though they had been used specifically to test food scorching methods, and then never really scrubbed clean. One bed was missing a support foot, a fact that we only discovered when the bed broke in the middle, leaving a large dent to sleep on. No worry - we took one of the disgusting pots and used it as a brace, so engineering for the win! The windows are paper thin and extremely old, so the gusty Melbourne winds whistled and rattled all night long. The heater is, of course, in the kitchen area, so the bedrooms got fairly cold. The sofas were ancient and had smells of mysterious origin. The entire experience was like a poorly written slapstick comedy, honestly. Only the absurdity kept it bearable.

Prepaid parking fee but was registered with wrong time 12am instead of 12pm, which resulted me paid again. Never heard anything back from the property after log it.

Nearby road very noise as motorcycle ran very late at night.

The apartments are dated and there was blood on the carpets. The amenities were also incredibly outdated and we were not given any towels for the shower so between 3 of us we had to use face washers. The staff were lovely on the phone prior to the stay, but we checked in after hours so did not have a chance to speak face to face or get towels. The area was nice and had lots of dining options and the hotel was just off a busy street so was able to be quiet. That being said we didn’t sleep very well because of the rain falling on the windowsill extremely loud, again, probably not the apartments fault though.

All in all I probably wouldn’t stay here again due to how run down the place was and not even having towels.

This hotel is old and pretty run down. Our room wasn't very clean, and the carpet had a big rip in it. It needs some upgrading and cleaning, but it is convenient. It's located right next to Lygon Street, it's a short walk to University of Melbourne, and there's lots of nearby shopping.

Unfortunately due to restricted reception hours, there was no one available to help deal with any issues that we had. Parking was a problem, as our car park pass came up as invalid when we tried to leave on Sunday morning; even though the pass said that it was valid until 11:59pm on the Sunday. So we ended up having to pay for our parking.

The apartment was spacious but there needs to be a complete refurbishment . Carpets were stained (badly); furniture was of poor quality and minimal; ceilings had unfinished paintwork ; walls had been stripped bare of artwork; and window furnishings were cheap and unattractive. A gate that accessed a street directly from the apartment courtyard was not actually locked but had a padlock on it. Someone entered it . The location was central with restaurants and close to the CBD.

Staff very friendly and very helpful. Location of property was great. Stayed in standard 2 bedroom. Little outdated and smelled really bad. Saying that our friends were in the updated ones and they were quite nice.

Apartment was large. Bedding was comfortable and the pillows were great. Location is excellent to Lygon street and the city.
No ceiling fans in the bedrooms and the only A/C is in the lounge room so it can get warm in the bedrooms. Couldn’t get TV’s to work.

Location in middle of Lygon Street - during day there is an access path onto Lygon street so you don't have to walk around the block. This locks in the night with no key access. I got caught out and had to walk in dark around the block. The Apartment complex also has offices. Common courtyard area and walkways not tidy or clean - my guess is that the Strata for the building complex does not clean enough with people wandering through from Lygon with nothing to do with the apartments or offices and dumping things there. The apartment had good facilities with kitchen, laundry 2 bedrooms, lounge, but carpet, walls and fittings old and so even though cleaned felt a bit icky. Will probably wait to hear rooms have been refreshed before staying again - but location fabulous and desk staff very good.

The property was aged and dated significantly with badly worn and damaged furniture, dusty throughout, unopenable windows and a bad smell. The smell was so bad we felt sick, we were unable to air the property out as it had no openable windows.

The exterior, lift and stairwells were dirty, old and unkept.

Would not recommend this property.

Nice roomy apartment in great location next to Lygon st..
My only complaint would be that there was no TV in 2nd bedroom and the TV in 1st bedroom was small and on a low table making viewing difficult.

Fantastic location

Hotel is spacious and in a fantastic location close to Lygon St cafes and shops, and a walk or short tram ride to city, Vic Market or Melbourne Museum. It was sparkling clean but very tired. The rc aircon did not work properly and we were constantly cold. Half the QS electric blanket did not work and I did not sleep much as too cold. Phoned night manager, who could not help. The next day the cleaner found a single electric blanket and put that on the non working side. Instructions on finding our way around the complex were confusing, as was finding the parking.
Overall the spaciosness, location and price made it great stay, but I would not return in winter.

Our apartment was large and the bathroom large as well. The toilet was seperate which is always a plus! My only criticism would be it was difficult to find our room as the complex has several different entrances and it took some time to find our way in.

The location was excellent. Walk straight out on to Lygon Street with all its excellent cafes. Tram close by to get into the heart of the CBD.
Although the decor is a little dated the unit was spotless. Bed linens were crisp and clean. Everything you needed if you wanted prepare a meal.
Front reception staff very helpful and kind. Emmett closed the office temporarily and helped with my luggage. On check out he looked up the temperature for my home city which I thought was very sweet.
I'd stay here again.

when I checked in it was windy, cold I had to carefully carry a large suitcase with a 21st and then I was given keys to wrong room had to head back down to sort it out. Then when booking in inclusions it said parking so one expected parking was included on check in was not told anything about parking told here is a tag to park and this is where you park then on checkout myself lady next to me and another guest all checking out one by one where told that is a $18 carparking charge and it was the first anyone had heard about it so I would say if there is hidden charges like most hotels you should be told at counter and when booking on sites it should say in inclusions parking provided at a cost.

It was a fairly old but very large apartment that is in desperate need of some TLC.
Cracks in the walls, dated carpet and wall coverings, dated kitchen and bathroom.
Minimal water pressure in the shower.
There were hairs on the bathroom floor and in the shower recess when we arrived.
We used a spare blanket out of the cupboard and this had hairs on it also.
I would not stay here again, nor recommend this to anyone.
