The staff were amazing. Nothing was a problem. The room was quite big and clean. We have normally stayed in more expensive hotels but as we were only their 5 days decided that n the cheaper option and was pleasantly surprised 😊

Several of the listed amenities were not available. The studio apartments lack a dishwasher and laundry services even within the building. The room's condition was heavily worn and unclean particularly the bathtub/shower. Also very limited front desk help. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Melbourne Apt Hotel on Elgin. We used their laundry services and they're very close to the trams. Many eateries nearby too.

The rooms were quite run down. There were multiple holes in the carpet and the toilet seat had a weird texture like the paint layer was cracking. The water temperature in the shower was inconsistent, and would flutuate even when the knob wasn't touched.
The kitchen was poorly stocked - 1 knife, 2 forks, 2 teaspoons and no big spoons. There was some plates etc.
It was generally clean and the bed was reasonable.

Room was comfortable and quiet as it faced east, away from Lygon Street. There was a an unpleasant smell in the lifts and corridors. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. Hot water could take 15 minutes to come on.

The property's location is really the only thing going for it. Whilst the nightly rate is of course lower than other properties in the city/nearby, however a lowered rate should not result in a dirty property - and which is what I encountered.

Disappointed with my stay here. First the WiFi was not working across much of the building (including my room), which I was not notified of until I raised the concern. Then the room itself was not very clean, with many hairs and stains in the bath, dirty mugs and cutlery I had to scrub before use, and rubbish left from the previous guest on the shelf. Once I had cleaned the bath, even the tap handle fell off in my hand when I tried to use it.

He then took rubbish out and came back? Serve us without washing and was not engaged at all. The hotel is pretty tired with worn carpets etc, but is in a good location just off Lygon St (which is very busy in the evenings). Our room was next to the noisy lift and appeared to have some damp issues but was a decent size and well equipped with a comfortable bed (but only one pillow each). Staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful though. Overall it was not expensive for where it is, but be aware you don't get a premium experience for a budget price.

Really Dirty, shower filthy and covered in mold/mildew. Ants in the bathroom and on the beds in one of the bedrooms. Noisy with constant banging night and day from one of the a joining apartments. A dog was whining in the morning from same apartment. Air vents in bathroom and kitchen had10 years of dust. Locked out of the car park, the intercom was turned off on us, one of us had to walk around the block into the garage to open from inside. Eyelash on one of the pillows and water damage in the corner of one of the brooms. Freezer full of ice. Dirty windows and balcony with a view of dump bins overflowing with rubbish. Grotty lift that jolted and shutterd.. smell in hallway pretty bad. Otherwise ok.

Front counter staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great but room tired and window in bedroom would not shut overnight. It was Saturday night so could hear the sounds of Carlton. Shades do not block out sun in the morning which also didn’t help the poor sleep due to street noise.

The basin in the bathroom didn't drain which was really off putting when used it. Considering the price and location I would probably give it another go if staying in Melbourne due to the location.

Carlton Apartments has been our go to place to stay for more than 20 years now. Whilst the decor is a bit tired it’s always friendly, comfortable and spacious when compared to some of the newer apartment buildings. Equiped with a washer and dryer for those longer stays or great stopover to recharge and refresh. With Lygon St at the doorstep the location is a foodies dream priced to suit the budget conscious. Looking forward to our next stay.

the receptionist was lovely and helpful, unfortunately the rooms are dated and not really clean, walls are damaged , the floor around the bed is not vacuumed properly or around the washing machine, the bath is dirty. the bed was comfy but the sheets were not pleasant nor was the blanket - felt dirty, the pillow was lumpy as well, very hard to get to sleep.

We were told they tried to contact us which was a lie; they also told us the damage was far worse than it actually was. So disappointing to have so much money taken for something which we had already dealt with (the only giveaway was a smell in the room as we had cleaned up the actual issue).

These apartments are in a convienient position for tramming in & out of the city. Also walkable. The hotel itself is run down & basic although reasonably clean. The window in our room did not close..needs replacing..it was cold.

I enjoyed my stay. Close walk to Lygon Street and City Central for shopping. The place needs updating. Worn carpet, dirty air conditioner, dust behind washing machine, toilet seat needs replacing. I found it quite noisy inside the place early one morning. Doors and lifts opening and closing.

The floor in the kitchen and bathroom was sticky, the toilet kept making noise, the windows didn't close perfectly so the outside noise was evident. From the exterior, the hotel looks inviting, however, it's not quite the same feel on the inside. Parking is limited to about six cars, so we were lucky to book and pay an additional $30 for one night's secure parking. I didn't receive the necessary message in regards to where to park, so I found myself contacting the after hours emergency number a couple of times. They were very helpful in this regard. I did appreciate the 11:00am check-out extension instead of 10:00am. I wouldn't be in a rush to go there again.

Sadly on arrival our group and another guest were unable to access reception and had to wait outside the property until another guest opened the door. We tried the displayed phone numbers numerous times. It was not until a departing group of guests, who had left luggage behind reception while lunching and went to claim their luggage, did anyone respond. We had been in reception for over 10 minutes. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The location was fantastic. Sadly a nuisance more than anything, but also a miss was, the remote control did not match the extremely small TV. Again rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Staff attention to detail was very poor.

The apartment had comfy beds, was clean and the location was excellent. However our stay was soured by noisy neighbours having a party until all hours. Despite calling twice over an hour through to the on call manager, it took a third call, two hours in to get through to someone who agreed to intervene. At this stage we’d already lost two and a half hours sleep. Disappointed in the customer service.
