No house keeping for 6 days and was advertised as daily when I booked and nothing to clean the toilet, not even a toilet brush or fresh towels was extremely disappointing for the cost of the stay.
Leaking toilet constantly and reported it and was told maintenance would fix it the next day but instead a receptionist male came into my room with his own key and I was appalled. My travel partner was in the shower and I was in the lounge luckily decent and he insisted on looking at the leaking toilet and proceeded to come into the unit and I stopped him and said no it’s being used and asked if he could wait and I said no you can come back please. Very creepy and very rude.
Why wouldn’t you call the room first to ask before entering the room?
The shower took several minutes of wasted water to achieve a safe water temperature. I got burnt numerous times and so did my travel partner.
The leaking toilet never got fixed. We had to keep turning the tap off.
We paid a lot of money to stay at the hotel so I would have expected more and house keeping and a working toilet and a view at minimum.
Very very disappointing.
I have a video of the noisy leaking toilet. Can’t attach it here unfortunately….

One of the better room setups and bed was very comfy compared to other hotels we've stayed at recently in Melbourne. Aircon was nice and quiet to use and have on at night, otherwise the room got quite warm. Buffet breakfast was definitely not worth the extra payment, very overpriced for what is on offer.

Rang housekeeping ..said they would send towels.1 Hour later,nothing.Rang reception...they said they would send someone .Half an hour later ,nothing!! My husband went to the desk ..finally towels came and bin emptied.We had to cancel a drinks date as we hadn't showered.WE made the bed/no coffee or tea replacement /no room cleaned.We have used this franchiese before(both in Sydney and Melbourne)very disappointing. as the hotel was pre booked and pre paid.

Great hotel, great location, great facilities, but the staff were pretty average. Not really friendly or wanting to help too much. They didn’t do anything bad as such, but they certainly didn’t go out of their way to make us feel comfortable or more welcome. For example, when we checked out, the staff member checked our account and said words to the effect of ‘there’s no more charges, you’re good to go’. There was no “we hope you’ve enjoyed your stay, we hope everything was what you expected, we hope to see you again, etc.” Again, nothing huge, but not really what we’d expect from Mantra.

False advertisement about housekeeping

my 5 night stay at Mantra was not as advertised. Firstly, they did not do housekeeping. Second day I asked for vacuuming and cleaning the dining table
and bathroom floor, but nothing. They informed my stay did not have housekeeping, I checked my booking, nothing mentioned there, when I made booking, not advertised as NO HOUSEKEEPING as any other hotel would do, very disappointed…. still after mentioning and asking for 3, then 4 and then the 5th night of stay… still they could not vacuum and clean the place. I had to stay on my holiday in a place full crumbs on the floor, dirty dining table, hair on bathroom floor.
Another thing, the parking- there was no parking- all full every night. I had to drive in, circle around to see that there is nothing , drive out, park somewhere else, and then go back through the car gate to get in the hotel- so inconvenient and time consuming.
And lastly their elevators, the hotel key most of the time did not scan to get to your floor. You end up stuck in the floor or riding up and down wasting your time. And it was happening to everyone. I came from the pool, all wet and cold, going up and down 20 floors till my hotel key started to work.
After all that misery- they offered 100$ off- that is just ridiculous. They just offered, I have already checked out and no refund or call from the manager . I am not staying there again. False advertisement about housekeeping!!!

We required a 2 bedroom apartment during our stay. The Mantra on Russell was able to provide this to us without any issues. The reception staff could not have been more helpful in advising how to access the carpark or getting a trolley for our luggage. We requested housekeeping service during our stay and was granted this without any issues. Highly recommend this accommodation when in Melbourne. It is in such a great location as well.

Rooms are loud with the door being paper thin. On 13th floor and could still here to street below. However could not hear neighbours (may not have had any). Could hear elevator and people accessing the floor.

Location is good, there are many restaurants nearby, shopping centres are in walkable distance. However, the cleanliness and condition of the place are quite average. We paid over 500 a night, not really worth the money.

We unfortunately experienced a false fire alarm in an early morning, waking up by the alarm, kids were panicking and we walked the kids down the emergency stairs. Half way, the alarm stopped, but there was no announcement. When we went back to the hotel, the front desk casually let us know it was a false alarm. I would prefer an announcement letting us know it was a false alarm and everything was ok. The same night, my kids woke up a few times at night when they heard the car alarm sound from the street down below. The experience traumatised them a lot. The staff might have gotten used to the false alarm, but they still should treat it seriously and be informative, especially during the school holiday seasons when there are many children staying at their place.

By the way, the view of the city is fantastic at night time.

We arrived on 15/04/25 we asked for a room change as balcony was so dirty and overlooked the carpark, reception said they would check availability and get back to us we stayed 4 nights and we didnt get any call back. The breakfast is very average undercooked bacon and a coffee machine that gives you froth.

I liked the location, the room and the hotel facilities. The staff were lovely. I did enjoy having a microwave in my room as I wake up at about 4.30am, and so I could make my own breakfast. As and it is impossible to get breakfast at this hour.
The pool was great, but no towels left at 6.30am which was surprising. My clock radio was broken, reported but not replaced during my stay. I did have to ask to have my bins emptied. However, overall I did like the hotel and will book again in the near future.

We have stayed multiple times at Mantra on Russell. It’s conveniently located to so many restaurants, Chinatown and shopping. Although it says “daily housekeeping” in the services provided, this was not included. But we were able to request fresh towels each day which more than made up for that. We will definitely continue to stay here again during our visits to Melbourne in the future. Keep this wonderful hotel going!

I stayed and was put into one of the accessible rooms on level 6. This in itself was not an issue apart from the amount of water that’s left on the ground after a shower. The shower curtain is far too small for its purpose. Not sure who designed this but it’s not appropriate and allows for water to flood the whole area.

The rooms are right next to the pool and gym entrance on level 6. The constant noise of the gym/pool door banging in the wall is annoying to say the least. Up to 9:30 or so at night and then from 6am you can hear it. This is poor design and should have been considered when they put the doors there.

I have stayed here before but to be honest it’s now run down and amenities pretty poor for a hotel that is supposed to be of this standard. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Negatives:
1.) We booked 2 one- bdr. apartements with balconies, however, not one chair or outdoor table on these balconies. Totally empty. The idea was to sit in the sun sometimes abs get some fresh air. This is why you hook a balcony and ist more.
2.) no recycling bins in any of the 4 units in our group, though signs how much the hotel tries to recycle.
3.) breakfast was good, the coffee machine was the cause of much frustration with lots of guests.

Very friendly staff, from the reception to the staff in the breakfast are, always helpful and service with a smile.

Stayed for 8 days over Xmas and Nye. 1 br apartment. Bath shower ok but hot water was either hot or cold no inbetween. Roof leaked and bath was cracked. But we did manage to get a different room with slight upgrade. Soundproofed rooms were goodm housekeeping was ok.
