Absolutely filthy room, window held open with a folded towel, stains all over the walls and carpet. Reverse cycle didn't work. The power shorted out when we tried to cook some toast - Deluxe Queen room? No way! Provided with 1 filthy unwashed fork, 1 bowl, 2 plates. Never again!

Nothing was like the pucture shown in Expedia. Room is disgusting, toothpaste left from previous guest on top of shower door. That tells you that no one cleans the room here. No room service, shattered glasses on hallway, no one at office even in their working hours, doors going out does not open so thought I got locked! If you are looking for good lication with dirty filthy room, this will be a perfect place.

Carpet was barely clean with bits of detritus visible. Bathroom so so - absolutely nowhere to out clothes or toiletries. Small manned kiosk type office with an employee exuding a care factor of zero. This establishment seriously detracts from the reputation of hotels.com.

This was a very frustrating experience. I did not get the message until a day later about how to get into the hotel. I was therefore forced to make an international call to gain access to the building. The room was dirty, broken handles, carpet needs to be replaced, and needs serious repair. The WIFI did not work even though I tried many times on both my computer and my phone. I also would have liked to left my bag for the day after my stay but there was no way to get a hold of anyone unless I wanted to make another International call. I do not recommend staying at the City Square Motel.

While the price was good/cheap ($99) the room itself was not very clean. Dusty and there was some rubbish left in the bathroom sink. The location is excellent. I feel a deep clean was required. The room itself was quite unique being in an older building and could use even a slight upgrade with nice decor would make a difference.

Bed was comfortable and shower pressure was perfect. Building was without hot water on first night of stay but staff had it fixed by the morning. Superficial structural damage to the carpet and doorframe near bathroom left room feeling run down. TV reception was non-functional. No room service was provided, nor did staff inform if such an option was available. More communication in this regard would be appreciated. Due to the unfortunate timing of events during my stay, room prices were far above what one would consider a fair nightly rate, however, at a lower rate, its a fine budget option for a few nights.

Room was absolutely filthy never dusted or vacuumed - bed and towels were clean - room was completely ran down - shower curtain covered in mould - there was no toilet paper in dispenser however found one on sink - aircon only worked with curtain open and it was very noisy being on swanston street and to top everything off the TV didn’t work - fuzzy reception, it was basically like staying in a seedy hostel in the best location in town, lastly no reception desk after 5pm had to call 3 times to finally get them to send details of door codes etc, if it was renovated with a safer elevator it would be amazing with the location.

Beware! We had to change rooms because the one we were in didn't have working electrical sockets and smelled bad. The new room had clean beds and working electrics, but all public areas have graffiti, really worn carpet, bits of rubbish. The staff are really nice and helpful but the building is in serious disrepair and didn't feel very safe.

That's not their fault, but Australian travellers should not require a translator to receive basic services in Australia. There was an AUD31/day coupon for the carpark. The flat parking cost was AUD30/day. I parked the car for 36h inside the designated carpark. When I wanted to exit, I used 2 coupons, as instructed by the hotel staff. The total cost was AUD60. At the end I had to pay AUD20. I called the intercom, the parking staff did not care and asked me to pay. This is totally unacceptable. I want to be reimbursed immediately. I have all the necessary tickets and photos with me to prove it. Please contact me ASAP!!!

Checked in, wasn’t given the after hours code to get in. Had to make a phone call to get that. Apparently there are two codes to get in and was not given the after hour’s code to get into the building. There was no toilet paper and was told that it will be left outside the door, sadly it was not, we bought our own. There was disgusting graffiti in the lift as well as exposed wires with tape on the ends. The drawers in the room were broken. The tv bracket was bent down and wasn’t sure if it would fall off the wall. Other than that, the bed was comfy.

This is the dirtiest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It looks like it hasn’t been properly cleaned in ten years. The carpet was filthy, and the ceiling and walls were covered in stains and layers of dust. The TV barely worked, and the desk and bedside tables were grimy. The air conditioner was extremely loud and sounded like it was 20 years old. Overall, a very disappointing and uncomfortable stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would not recommend staying here if you are concerned about security. The door to the street is only secured by a number keypad, and once in the building there is no security on the elevators, anyone could come up to hotel room floors. One morning there was a homeless person sleeping outside the elevators. The elevators also smell like urine.

Very good central location which was convenient but bathroom was mouldy and had small flying insects. The bed and pillow seemed clean and comfortable but the rest of the room was questionable on whether it had been cleaned thoroughly. The towel looked stained which was a bit off-putting. You can hear city noises at night but it subsides after around 11pm. This could be a suitable last-minute or budget option if you won't be spending much time in the room, but it might be worth spending more on a nicer place, especially because of the state of the bathroom.

The whole place needs a decent clean. all around the edges of the walls where the carpet is bad. It's in a great location and that's pretty much where the positives end. The elevator was covered in graffiti that hasn't been cleaned off (foreshadowing of what was to come). The walls of the room were covered in marks, and the floor around the edges and behind the bed were covered in very visible thick dust about an inch and a half wide. The air-conditioner was very noisy but it was effective. The sheets on the bed were clean but there wasn't enough to keep warm so I had to keep the air-conditioner on overnight, which would've been fine if it wasn't so noisy. The sink is too close to the toilet. The shower was stained and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while and the towels stunk of bleach.

Very old and worn out hotel. Very average room and certainly not clean or comfortable. Bed sheets was the only nice thing, although bed and pillows were not modern or comfortable.

The hotel is in a great location for everything you might need and is cheap. My stay was fine but the cleaning needs to be done thoroughly to bring it up to a reasonable standard. The bathroom and toilet needed a good scrub. Dishes had to be washed in the bathroom basin but no cleaning equipment provided. I bought my own detergent and cloths as well as a coffee mug, bowl, and utensils as there were only 2 cups and one teaspoon provided.
It was quiet in my room, which was great for sleeping at night, and the bed was comfy with clean bedding. No mattress protector though. I appreciated being able to access Netflix on the TV, and it was good to have tea, coffee and milk provided.
