The hotel it's self was really nice, it was the fact that we could hear the music and vibrations from the nightclub down stairs until 5am. Very loud, and I'm generally a heavy sleeper. Obviously no fault of the hotel, just wish I read previous reviews before I booked.

Couldn’t fault staff or the accommodation. It was simply the night club. We had no idea until we were advised on check in. Loud vibrating music until 5am Saturday and Sunday nights (public holiday eve). We would stay again but only Monday to Friday.

The room is clean and staff were very helpful. However, the shower area is narrow. The shower door has gaps that the water leaks out of and drips into the step which can cause someone to slip. Holes in the bathroom tiles where the hairdryer was installed. Parking has no lift for a disabled person.

Honestly the room was pretty nice, comfy bed, bathroom was pretty good. The problem arose at night when trying to sleep. The accommodation is is on top of a nightclub and you could hear very loud music till about 5 in the morning keeping us awake all night. Dont book here on a Friday or Saturday night

If you are planning on staying here on a Friday or Saturday night, don't do it. The noise from the nightclub is unbearable and is not just in the building as the ad says, but is also in an area with a retractable roof, which when open, allows the noise to carry further.

The reviews here always have a copy and paste answer saying there is fair warning both before and after booking. This is dishonest and disingenuous and is a sign of poor business practices and care. They waring on the page before booking is hidden down the bottom of the page and doesn't detail how poor the conditions are. The extra warning after book is once again low down the page, but also details there is no chance for cancellations or refunds, so saying this is a fair warning is wrong. The conditions are unbearable, as they well know by handing out small earplugs and insisting you take them, and not being upfront about this is incredibly selfish business practice, especially for people who are in Melbourne for important events as I was, which ruined my trip.

The WiFi was also awful and didn't allow me to do the work I needed to do to prepare for the next day.

Room, staff, and location were fine however, the new nightclub nextdoor sounds like it is in your room until all hours. Earplugs do nothing and it is far more than a dull thud.

We had problems with the air conditioning and at first not really helping but night shift staff brought a large fan and then organised to fix it the next day. They say that there could be noise from night club. Under statement Friday night not too bad but Saturday was like they were in the next room. Make sure you have ear plugs. The room its self is great with 2 separate rooms and 2 toilets so the person sleeping on the fold out couch doesn’t have to walk through the bedroom to use.

The hotel is above a nightclub, when the club is open you have to enter the hotel via a grubby side entrance.

Don't expect to sleep well here on a Friday or Saturday night, the noise from the night club is very loud and the ear plugs provided upon check in do little to help.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Aside from the noise from the club, it is a good hotel.

We stayed two nights over a weekend, and were not prepared for the noise from the in-hotel club. The club was on the 1st floor, but the sound and bass from the 5th floor was still palpable way beyond 3am.

Although this is mentioned briefly on the website, it cannot be overstated how loud/disturbing it is.

The rooms were rather aged with fraying wood and stained showers, and the bedding was heavily stained if you lifted off the covering sheet.

Would not return.

Because there is a nightclub downstairs it was so difficult to sleep. The noise was ridiculous and it went until the early hours of the morning. We were on the sixth floor and it was extremely loud. I feel for anyone staying on the lower floors. We only got told about the nightclub when checking in. When paying over $300 a night to stay you wouldn’t expect to have to put up with that level of noise. I would never stay again.

Don't stay here. I left a full drink of Vodka in the fridge. I called them and they said they will keep it for me to collect. Then they said it was not found. Stealing from the customers is not ok. Plus, way too noisy to sleep. The nightclub thumps all Saturday night till Sunday morning.

The room was spotless and very well presented. The staff were really lovely too and very helpful. We very much appreciated the late checkout.

One thing though, there was a terrible smell in Reception when we arrived, not sure what that was but apart from that it was a wonderful stay.

They claim to be a 4-star hotel. They are not. Their website boasts “a relaxing boutique hotel” — adorable, if you find sleepless nights relaxing. The “tea and coffeemakers” are a plastic kettle and instant coffee. “Room service available” means a vending machine in the foyer. Breakfast? None. Just a friendly suggestion to “try a local café.”

The “on-site restaurant” is a nightclub with deafening music, sticky floors, and patrons who think balance is optional. The lobby is tiny, gloomy, and guarded by nightclub security who look puzzled that you’re holding luggage, not a cocktail.

Yes, the fine print mentions a nightclub — but not that it thumps beneath your bed until 5 a.m. The complimentary earplugs are more of an admission of guilt than a comfort. Return from dinner after 9 p.m.? You’ll be rerouted through the smelly carpark, weaving between drunk revellers and the occasional fight in the alley.

After zero sleep, housekeeping twice burst in before 10:30 a.m., despite our confirmed noon checkout. No “Do Not Disturb” sign, naturally. The promised manager call never came.

In short: this is not a 4-star hotel. It’s barely a 3-star — a Budget Rave and Sleep Deprivation Centre disguised as a “boutique experience.” Perfect if you enjoy instant coffee, no sleep, and being serenaded by subwoofers until dawn.

Only advised that there was a nightclub next door on check-in. The solution was to provide ear plugs. Constant techno til 5am. The door next to the nightclub is open all night, where anyone can enter. You don’t need a swipe card to access your level, so security is an issue.

The room was modern, the staff were helpful and all amenities worked. However the sheets were stained and there was hair in the bathroom. It was also incredibly loud but not surprising due to proximity to surrounding night clubs. Overall it was a lovely stay.

The staff were very nice and good service. However i forgot to read the reviews regarding the night club on the ground floor. I got a room in the 7th floor and still could hear the noise from the night club. Also the club closes at 5am so forget about a good nights sleep if you are not extremely tired.

For the price of the room it was great value, however the lack of overhead lighting made the room feel very dark & oppressive (relying on four scattered lamps) and lack of a big enough bottom sheet on the bed (two flat sheets only and the bottom sheet not being able to be tucked in) was a bit disappointing, again however the central location and overall price is fantastic. No in house restaurant or room service available however there is a mini mart underneath.

Don’t stay on Fri or Sat nights unless you have 🎧

We were advised on checking that the hotel shared areas with a local night club and it might be noisy. However when placed on the 7th (top) floor of the hotel we could hear and feel the noise and vibrations from the nightclub until 5 am when it finally stopped
I would hate to think of guests on lower floors. The front desk clerk seemed oblivious to this and lacked empathy.
The shower had Luke warm water, the provided cups and utensils for the coffee making were mix matched and seemed like leftover from a op shop and the fridge was turned off or broken and the door seal was unserviceable.

At best they should warn potential guests of the Saturday night issues, 🤔 maybe they don’t because no one would book to stay on those days and explains the cheap price for the booking 😠

The room that I had seven oh nine was perfect comfortable quiet and all the evenings but the Saturday which they had four warned me about because of the nightclub that resides in the building but it was not overbearing the bed was comfortable the linens were clean and soft and the TV was magnificent a big huge TV news smart Hisense TV with the great picture and I was able to use my Netflix account with it the staff at the front desk were very attentive even learn my name in the week that I was there and used it upon greeting me when I would come and go from the hotel I was very impressed with the experience

Great Location, But Not for a Peaceful Stay

The location is fantastic—an easy walk to Hardware Lane and Bourke Street. If you're planning to enjoy the nearby nightclubs, this hotel is ideal. However, if you're after a relaxing, quiet staycation, I’d recommend spending a bit more and booking elsewhere.

While some noise is expected given the central location and proximity to nightclubs, the way it's handled is disappointing. You’re only informed after payment that nightclub noise will continue until 5am, and that earplugs are available—but only if you come down and ask for them. If noise is such a known issue, why not provide earplugs in the room or offer them at check-in?

Instead, you're left having to get out of bed, ride the lift down in your pyjamas, approach an unmanned reception desk visible to nightclub queues, ring a bell, and wait for someone to hand you earplugs. Then it’s back to bed, hoping for some sleep.

The rooms are not soundproof. You can hear your neighbours talking, showering, flushing the toilet, and even hallway conversations as if they’re happening inside your room.

Street noise during the day is minimal, but once the nightclubs start, the bass reverberates through the floors and walls. We were on the 7th floor and still felt it—lower floors would likely be worse.

Parking Tip:
The hotel is not affiliated with the Citihotel Secure Parking lot located underneath. Pre-booking can save you a bit of hassle. Overnight parking is around $40, which is on par

The stuff there was so nice and tried to help… The room was 17 degrees even though I asked them so many times if they can set the temperature higher… nothing happend. wifi didn’t work at all. and 40aud per night for parking must be a joke. The location is great, tram access easy, and it's a short walk downhill to the Bourke St shopping Mall. CitiClub Hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are very comfortable, and you have YouTube access as a guest. Great Malaysian restaurant next door, coffee shops close and a supermarket 2 doors down. Whenever I visit Melbourne, I stay here and feel safe as a solo Traveller.

The room was comfortable and clean. The beds were really comfortable. Maid service was ok but they didn't actually remake the beds so the sheets underneath were still tangled when we went to bed on our second night.

I wouldn't recommend a stay there on a weekend unless you're a heavy sleeper. I understand there was a nightclub downstairs but I honestly didn't expect the doof doof sound til 4am, as loud as it was 4 floors up! Especially the vibration through the walls at different points throughout the night. So unless you're going there for the nightclub, stay away on weekends.
