The staff were attentive. The room was spotless and well maintained. The shared bathrooms and shower areas needed more attention, particularly with keeping stock of toilet paper and the provided shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I would have also appreciated more info about nearby places to grab a bite to eat because there was nothing available on site. No complaints about this spot. Just areas for improvment.

Check in was average told it was a youth hostel so couldn't book another night. Nowhere does it say that there is an age limit . Came back from dinner at 2200 hrs to be greeted with a groups smoking dope on the entrance . Poor orientation . Beds were comfortable . anothnight.

Good hostel culture, bringing all the positives and negatives with it. I didnt regret staying here but the main issue was the entire room smelled like feet, multiple guests clearly were staying for long periods. Had dozens of pairs of shoes. A bit gross.
Also, the washrooms/showers are shared and there is almost always a lineup.

One that offers privacy where you can do your business and showers. A lot of hostels have common showers, but this alone takes the win if your too shy to do the number 2 in an open setting. Definitely recommend staying here.

The showers and also the curtains on the bed needed cleaning. I stay here a lot but this is the first time ive seen so much brown muck and also what looks like blood on bed curtains, shower curtains and shower walls. Its not very quiet as youre right in the CBD but its not incredibly loud. Good location, great staff who are very helpful. They let me check in early as my bed was ready already. Will be coming back.

The best thing is the rooftop communal area.
The bunks were pretty good, had curtains.
Kitchen is well organised.

Bunkroom is messy with bags all over the floor i stead of in lockers or on the bunks.

Overall the best of the 4 hostels I have stayed at so far in Melbourne.

Staff were generally grumpy and probably over worked. Back alley way has trucks crushing cans and bottles all night. All the doors close with a bang. So it is an orchestra of sounds when sleeping. Will effect some people strongly. I’d try another place in future. Also, kitchen is in the basement. No windows.

It is a bit dated for a large city hostel. Staff were helpful and friendly. The kitchen was rarely not a mess and untidy but this was due to the people staying in the hoste rather then the hostel itself (ie. not Washington up after themselves, leaving food in the sink). Kitchen facilities are quite small given how large the hostel is. Some of the bathrooms need updating. Rooms have privacy curtains which was a nice touch.

They placed me in the wrong room and required me to move twice. The room in 217 is in horrible condition - it DOES NOT COME WITH A CURTAIN as they have advertised in their pictures, smells and dirty, no free locker. The whole corridor also has trash/leftover food and really smelly shoes. I don't feel comfortable staying in a mixed dorm without the curtain. Even then, there was a fellow female backpacker who burst into tears at night because the room was too terrible. I totally understand her feelings because no sane human could live in that room for more than a night.

Terrible check-in service and reception bureaucracy. Lack of manpower in the reception. I have to wait really long to check in and caused me to miss my event in the city. Even then there is no towel provided because they ran out of towels. When I was checking out early in the morning. They require me to get the info card that hangs on my bed to give me back my deposit. I told them I am running late for my flight and gave them the details (my name, room, etc. that is on that card). They insisted on the card and I have to run back to the room. Needless to say, they would prioritise their stupid bureaucracy over guest's needs and comfort - I was late for my flight, and have to interrupt my sleeping roommates again for getting into the room to retrieve the stupid piece of hand-written card.

Overall. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSTEL. It does not deserve the above-average rating as it has now.

A top hostel

One of the better hostels I have stayed in! The mattress in my six bed dorm was super comfy and I really liked the curtain that you could pull across for a bit of privacy. Large lockers as well. The free breakfast was definitely the best from a hostel, pancakes, cereal, toast amd even juice! The bathrooms were mostly clean, in good condition. There was a rooftop which was nice to sit up on. Lots of long-term travellers so they had there stuff spread out alot in the room. Free BBQ and other activities another bonus! Fantastic location in the CBD and free tram zone. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay.

Decent hostel, they were renovating the kitchen when I was there so a little bit messy and crowded. Free breakfast was nice, WiFi pretty terrible. Nice free BBQ one night a week too. If you only need one night somewhere I can recommend, great value.

about a 10 minute walk away from the best areas of the Melbourne CBD, super comfy beds, and super comfy showers. And! Most importantly, to me at least, they give you a towel to use without charging you for it - I stayed at 4 hostels in Melbourne and this was the only one that did that. Free pancake breakfast, and this is also the only hostel I know of in Melbourne that also gives you peanut butter / nutella / etc to put on the pancakes as well as juice / cereal and other breakfast items like that. Definitely recommend.

Noisy!

The other guests were very noisy in the corridor right outside bedrooms even at midnight. Doesn't seem to have any staff to quieten them. I have not experienced this level of noise in other hostels. Hard to sleep with all the commotion. But receptionists were welcoming and helpful otherwise. Room is rather small so privacy curtains are great. No cups in kitchen.

I am a Senior Citizen and probably not your typical Hostel visitor but I was very pleasantly surprized by how comfortable I was staying at the Europa. Initially, I was seeking mostly simply a place to be able to sleep for 2 nights and have accessibility to the center of Melbourne. It turned out to be a great experience... run very efficiently with being able to have round the clock assistance if necessary, friendly staff, great wifi , eating and cooking area as well as very friendly room-mates.

Location is absolutely fantastic.
Everything else is much less than what I would have wanted. It's fine because I was only sleeping at the hostel and out for all other hours.
The bathrooms are all single room and it seemed like they were constantly wet. I stayed in a room with all long-term guests so it was an absolute mess and they kept me awake well past 3 AM despite me asking them to be quiet.
All and all, totally fine if you just want to sleep. But it's loud and crammed and not as clean as I'd prefer

I see photo got orange curtain to protect privacy but my room don't have.

女子6人部屋二段ベッドの上でした。二段ベッドとは想像できないベッドのふかふかさにハッピーでした。シティ内で朝食つきかつ朝食もパンケーキを作れたり食パンのジャムヌテラが選べたりしてよかったです。バスルームがトイレと一緒だったのと男女分かれてなかったのでスリッパで行くとき抵抗感がありました。あと二段ベッドの階段は下までついてないので降りる時ちょっと大変でした。

Die duschen und Schlafräume waren völlig verdreckt.
Das Bett welches ich beziehen sollte, hatte 100 Flecken auf den Laken. Es war einfach nur wiederlich. Die Waschräume hatten Schimmel und Schmutz überall. Das Frühstück war völlig ok und es gab gratis ein frisches Handtuch.
Mit dem Alkohol-trinken nach 22:00 Uhr nahm es das Personal sehr genau. Allerdings gegen Rauchen verschiedenster Sachen auf der rooftop Terrasse hatte keiner was.

全体的に綺麗でした。朝食にパンケーキ、トースト、牛乳、ジュースが無料なのは助かりました。シャワーも個室になっていて、たくさんあるので待つことはありませんでした。同じ部屋にはオーストラリア、ドイツ、中国など多国籍で、長期滞在者も多く、メルボルン情報を教えてもらえました:)スタッフさんもとても親切です。場所もCBDまで余裕で歩いて行けますよ
