South Beach has a lot to offer, especially for families. We enjoyed the walk to the pier and two gazebos, but you could also swim in the pool or let kids play in the very nice play area. The breakfast was as expected for a continental breakfast. The dining area is large, a beautifully decorated with wooden tables and beach memorabilia, unlike lodging from the chains--often small, no character, and with the news blaring. The staff was very helpful and gracious. I felt it was a good value. They do charge a $38 resort fee, and although we didn't use it, that seemed fair. There was a nautical/beach theme throughout, which I enjoyed.

However, this place does not have cell phone coverage. We had to drive two miles down the road to make & receive calls. The beach had more dead fish on it than we could count. I realize this is a lake, but someone could patrol the beach and remove the dead fish, instead of feeding the buzzards.

The staff were unbelievably kind & was quick to offer suggestions regarding food places or where to pick up an item that you may have forgotten. My only recommendation is that they need to boost their WiFi signal. Late at night, when trying to watch a movie on my phone, the signal was BAD. This is my only recommendation. Stay here. You’ll have a great time! Guaranteed!

This was our first time here and first time in the area. Absolutely lovely place! Right on lake Eerie with a small swimming beach access, several pools including a very kid friendly one right outside the door with view of the lake. There is also beautiful little cottages to stay on which we will try next time, but the resort itself was fantastic too. The beds were a little hard, which is just a personal preference and cell phone signal was very spotty. TV was available but very limited amount of channels, if that matters to anyone and lost signal quite a lot. Also, the front desk only has someone there until 7pm. We had a toilet clogged and were unable to get ahold of the after hours staff we were told to call, but ended up fixing it ourselves pretty easily. No fridge in the room, which might also be personal preference but something we are just used to with our stays. The location is stunning, yet only a short drive away from dining options and shopping. We are planning on staying here again for our next trip.

The only thing I would add to this property is to provide a golf cart for guests to use on the property. I have pulmonary fibroids and I use oxygen. I was not able to go to the big pool or the beach

What a cool place to stay for a couple or with a family. The hotel was nice with many activities within the resort. The beds were a little squeaky (could hear ours plus people above us) and could hear kids running in the hallway but didn’t bother us too much. All employees were friendly and accommodating when we asked to stay one more night & not move rooms the day before the 4th of July. I would definitely stay here again.

Our room said we would have two queens and sleep sofa. We only had two queens,they gave us the handicapped room, and the one queen was up agsinst the air conditioning unit. You couldn't get out on that side.

Kid play area, beach volleyball court, walking path and small beach area. Wish we woulda been able to get in before 1 am, but came in after Cedar Point. Great place for family reunions or events!

Balcony off room and personal jet tub are highlights of this easy to access location with genuinely friendly staff. Having the option for a less expensive, low frills stay that is still more upscale than basic modern hotels is a gift when looking for a last minute weekend getaway. This place can deliver on that in both access to the water and the facilities on site.

Nothing on website said pools where closed after Labor Day. Was told because we booked thru travel agent we could not have balcony room so we looked out the window to a wall. An extra charge for 94 dollars was changed at time of checkin. No refrigerator or micro wave. Toilet dirty, looked like blood spots on bathroom door. We left before 11 o'clock after second night but was charged for three nights. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Grounds are great which is what supports the two stars overall. The rooms in the hotel are dated, extremely musty, and the pillows are super thin and limited. Approached the manager (or owner?), Chris, regarding the musty smell and he was incredibly dismissive and disrespectful. Will not return.

Fairly updated, nice place. Bayside view was main draw for us. Underwhelmed with the breakfast...cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, mini rolls/donuts, bread for toast, oatmeal packets. Grounds were nice for kids. Ideal if have a boat/jet ski. \"microwave/fridge available upon request\" failed to mention $20/night fee. Only public ice machine was down and had to get from front desk that rationed. Only drink machine had to be unplugged to recycle to work, ate money and was out of the first 3 choices. The web site said they had 3 pools, I counted 2 and a small kiddie pool. The pool close to Lake Erie needed to be cleaned and swept out, also the water was low, it really needed filled up. The hot tub was more of a swimming pool, it was constantly occupied by people who just wanted to use it as a warm pool without the jets on, usually 10 people at a time. So if you wanted to use it, you had to WAIT until the group decided to leave. The room and hallway had a strange smell to it. The tub filled up when you took a shower, so the next person had to wait until the tub emptied. It seemed to me like a retirement home or if you didn’t have children this wasn’t the place for you. The mattress was a little on the springy side, and not firm at all. The pillows were like pan cakes, could have used more than 2.
All in all if you didn’t have a boat or were not related to anyone else staying there, I would NOT recommend this place for a weekend getaway. No restaurant on the grounds either. Only one place to eat near by.

I didn't like the fact that they charged me an extra fee on my credit card after claiming it was only for incidentals. They charged an extra $32 per night.

The staff and grounds were great, we just wish they would enforce some of the rules a little more. We were unfortunately there with a couple of obnoxious families. One pool is meant to be the family pool and the other is supposed to be a quiet pool with no splashing. Instead, I had to save a 3-4 year old from drowning. The adult male with him was too drunk to care. Spent the rest of time with one family who knew they were rude and joked about it.

A little pricey for what we got. I think that they want to give the impression of an upscale resort but the rooms show the age and there is much \"going through the motions.\" Still they had many of the good amenities and it was not the price of a real upscale resort.

This is a hidden gem for sure! The hotel is dated, and doesn’t have all the amenities as a big chain, however it is very clean, staff is beyond friendly, and you cannot beat the location! 3 outdoor pools, a hot tub, play ground, & volleyball. We will definitely be returning!

The room we had was right by waterpark and arcade. We heard people all night walking by screaming talking loudly. During arcade hours it was non stop kids talking in hallway, dont try tp go to sleep b4 midnight. The noose was ridiculous.
