Location is great. Room is very clean though very small, which would not be a problem except that they are tightly spaced and poorly isolated so every cough is heard. Guests behave well within that constraint.

Breakfast in other reviews is overrated. It's fine though adding whole fruit instead of fruit salad would be an improvement.

Weirdest thing is an all-day, all-night creepy noise coming through the pipes, sounds like an underworld villain playing a fife. We called it the Upside-Down demonic music.

This hotel was not super close to most tourist spots, but had nearby options for the metro. The neighborhood seemed authentic Parisian, where natives would shop and eat. We were recommended a couple of good restaurants nearby by the hotel staff, who were always helpful. The room was very small by North American standards, but had everything we needed. There is a breakfast room in the basement with a decent if not exciting offering for 14 euros. We were very pleased by the neighborhood.

Great little place!

Excellent, if of Euro size (to be expected!). Very clean and modern room. Very good breakfast. Pleasant and helpful staff. The bed was a double, not a Queen (per description) a minor disappointment. No shampoo or conditioner.

We needed a one night stay close to my daughter’s apartment in Paris. So this hotel was convenient. A very typical Paris hotel. Small rooms and bathrooms. Clean enough. And very basic.
Breakfast was offered upon arrival for the next morning which we thought was part of our accommodation. But upon checkout they charged us for the breakfast and tax.

Outstanding gem in a convenient location

We enjoyed our 14-night stay at Grand Hotel Français greatly! Our Superior Double room suited us very well: it was well-appointed, quiet, and very clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was immaculately clean but very small -- but that is to be expected in Paris! Note that the only English-language TV station available during our stay (May, 2025) was France 24 News (excellent, but adding BBC News and CNN might be a nice addition). Housecleaning service was excellent. Breakfast was a pleasure each morning with an excellent variety of fresh hot and cold food options, French pastries, great coffee and beverage choices, and pleasant service. We especially appreciated the uniformly positive, helpful, and welcoming demeanor of the hotel staff -- from the manager to the front desk to the breakfast staff to the housecleaning personnel. The hotel's location is outstanding with direct walking access in a safe and very Parisian neighborhood within a 5 min. walk from Place de la Nation without many tourists, and easy access there to many public transportation options (four Metro lines, RER, buses). Metro 9 is 2 min. walk away in the other direction and connects to everything. Perfect at a reasonable price. We felt welcomed and look forward to staying here again in the future.

We love this charming boutique hotel and have stayed here on several occasions. We have chosen this hotel in particular because the manger and staff are so helpful and welcoming. This is truly the highlight of staying here. The rooms are comfortable, and the location is great. It is easy to get to any part of the city you would like to visit, and the neighborhood has many innovative and creative restaurants. We would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

The staff and the owner were very present to help us, told to have a great day/night everytime we left and to chat. The man in charge of the breakfast always had a smile. Always there to bring what was missing.

The only thing that didn’t fit this perfect week was the taxi that was called for us, was with a driver not vaccinated, antivax with very strong political views, that wanted to be paid cash.

Room was clean, but VERY small. I suppose that’s typical for Paris, but this room was a tight fit for two people.

Several of our bathroom towels had pre-existing stains, as did our bed’s coverlet. But the rest of the room and decor was spotless. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Not a lot of attractions close by (other than Pere Lachaise cemetery), but Metro Line 1 is only a 10-minute walk away.

This is a very nice well run modest hotel. It's not a fancy place, just an old fashioned French hotel with small rooms and good beds. I like staying in this area because I am close to the peripherique if I rent a car and/or need to get to an airport or a short Metro ride to the heart of Paris.

The location was fine and the room clean, comfortable and quiet. Once you get the Metro down, you're basically 20 minutes away from everything. (Buy the Metro Carnets and save some money.) The biggest downsides were the occasionally grumpy desk personnel and the elevator. Easily the slowest we've every experienced. You can literally walk the stairs to 5th and 6th floor faster. (No joke. It's that slow.)

Choice stay for the solo traveller on a budget

A comfortable stay. The room I had wasnt huge, but enough for a solo traveller. More important it was clean. They provided a robe, slippers and a (sheet) towel and wash cloth which I appreciated. The location is quiet for being on a busy boulevard and safe. For an extended stay there is a laundromat a few doors down. Its a short walk to the train that will take you to any attractions. A variety of restaurants on the street. They provided a decent breakfast selection (they have these scrumptious little muffins with caramel inside) to get you going. The staff was friendly (I loved the morning upbeat of \"Bonjour\" greeting me) and helpful in answering questions.
For the daily price, I was very pleased. I would stay there again

Great hotel in Paris. Convenient location near the Nation subway hub. Room small but clean and perfectly fit for the 5 days we stayed. Staff was very helpful nice and friendly. The included breakfast buffet was great, fresh baguette, croissants Yummy!

Only caveat is the lack of a dresser in the room so we lived out of the suitcase

I loved the location of the Grand Hotel Francais. It's not in the center of Paris, so there are many well-priced dinner and bakery options nearby. There's also a subway line w/in a block of the hotel that can easily take you the center of the action near the Eiffel Tower, etc. The room was clean and small (which was fine w/ me), but I was put off by one of the front desk staff. I told her \"Bonjour\" the AM we checked out, and she mocked me by saying Bonjour back to me mocking my American accent, apparently. It was uncalled for and rude.

An excellent hotel with the friendliest, most helpful staff. We were offered a welcome drink in the bar. on arrival. Our room was very clean and tidied to an immaculate standard by the daily cleaners. The hotel was in a lovely tree lined boulevard near to several metro stations. Although it's on a fairly busy road, our room overlooked a side street, and was very quiet. While we were there, we visited an antique/bric- a -brac market down the road from the hotel and a fantastic food market nearby. We had a great trip and would definitely book the hotel again.

A great hotel in a safe neighborhood

So, story time- I just went on my first trip to Paris, alone, and everyone I know kept on referencing the movie, Taken, so I was extremely paranoid when I arrived in Paris. Grand Hotel Francais helped me alleviate that paranoia, as a single woman who barely speaks French, I felt absolutely safe during my stay here. The staff is extremely helpful, and they all speak fluent English. The rooms were small, but impeccable. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone.

I’m glad I listen to the good reviews about this hotel and everything is what it says is true. It is a little far from the city but its close to metro rail which is pretty much you need to go almost anywhere. Uber from this hotel is not always available especially in the early morning but the hotel has shuttle and taxi to the airport and you just have to schedule it the day before.
There was one time that someone was smoking and it went to our room but they took care of it that same night.

We would stay here again when we plan to go back to Paris.

Hotel room was small (standard room) but clean and about 2 minutes walk away from the subway station. There is a bakery a short walk away and a great Italian restaurant that was very inexpensive a few doors down. Staff was very friendly and offered suggestions for restaurants, shuttles and transportation.

Situated in the 11th, we were far enough from the centre to avoid the crowds but near enough Nation Metro to get there quickly if necessary. Reception staff were friendly & helpful and though rather small our room (an upgrade to the side-street side) was comfortable with all usual amenities.
Breakfast in the hotel is €12pp but if preferred there are plenty of cafes around Nation.
We had a great short break and would return to this area again.

I highly recommend a stay at the Grand Hotel Francais for a visit to Paris. Its location within the 11th arrondissement is perfect - in a quiet neighborhood away from the hustle of some of the more touristy areas, but with plenty of good food and drink options in the area and of course a great metro connection to bring you anywhere in the city. The staff was always incredibly friendly and very helpful. The room was very clean and quite comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at the Grand Hotel Francais was great. We loved the easy, accommodating location and attentive staff. You are able to buy many kinds of tickets at the front desk, including the line-skipping tickets. Hotel is located 1 block from one of the metron stops and maybe 10 minute walk to a major metro hub. I would definitely utilize this hotel again in the future.

We came and we're instantly greeted by Vanessa who was so friendly and accommodating. She helped us find local food, gave us do's and don'ts for traveling around Paris. Her English is great. The room was very small as well as the elevator but the service is so outstanding it makes up for it. The hotel is about 20 min Uber to Eiffel Tower and other attractions, down the street is lots of great bakeries and restaurants. Very small locals only neighborhood so expect a language barrier (if you don't speak French) pretty much everywhere close by.

Arrived to a room upgrade and a complimentary bottle of wine. Then we were given a free cocktail before we went out for dinner. They also put out complimentary nibbles every night during cocktail time - crisps, nuts, sausison, olives. We were provide with a convenient 1 page map with recommended restaurants marked. The furniture in the room was very dark and a bit dated but bed was very comfortable with quality bedding and the bathroom modern - if a bit cramped. The shower was very roomy though and had a movable shower head and 3 separate spray nozzles down the center bar. Breakfast was included and there was a huge selection. Overall I definitely stay here again

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Francais for 2 nights to visit my daughter who is working as an intern in Paris as part of her degree. From arrival to departure I honestly couldn't fault anything. This hotel is very good value for money, is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn't have breakfast so I am unable to comment on this.

The area is perfect - away from the hustle bustle of the major tourist attractions, but close enough that you can be at any of them within 30 minutes via the Metro. There are some good local restaurants nearby which are probably much cheaper than in the tourist areas and even when walking back to the hotel at night, I felt perfectly safe. I felt I was seeing Paris through the eyes of the Parisian people rather than as a tourist and I loved every minute of my stay. I didn't want to leave.

I loved the Grand Hotel Francaise

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. First of all the room was comfortable, clean, and had very nice amenities including soaps, bath gels, and large fluffy towels, free waters, coffee, and tea. The hotel was in a safe and convenient location to public transportation including city buses and the Metro (subway). A lovely well appointed and nicely decorated corner room with balcony that faced out to the main street. There were plenty of places to eat whether heavy or light including convenient stores with French pastries, fruits, and vegetables. The staff at the hotel were incredible, particularly Beatrice (spelling). She gave wonderful directions for getting around using public transportation or walking, telling us about the availability of what the hotel had to offer such as breakfasts, etc. She and Vanessa made arrangements for our pickup and delivery (early morning) to the airport and everything went off without a hitch. I would gladly return to this hotel again.

We had a private guide who should us all of Paris. We walked over 14km a day. We used the metro,bus and train system which is the best way to get around Paris. Some of the museums were closed but all major attractions were available to visit. A must attraction is the Moulin Rouge. The show and champagne is the best value. Hotel was nice, and the staff was friendly. Not loud at night. Just a short distance to hop on the metro. Would stay there again.

Good stay at the Grant Hotel Francais

We enjoyed our stay. Our family of four had two adjacent rooms with double beds. The rooms are small, but comfortable and modern. The bathrooms are clean. The front desk staff were very friendly. There is a small sitting area in the lobby where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The area is safe and has good transit links to other parts of Paris.

what a lovely place.

A fantastic little place to stay. The rooms are not large but are very clean and comfortable. Staff are welcoming, helpful and very friendly. Being close (a very short walk) to both Nation and Rue des Boulets metro stations means getting around Paris couldn't be easier.

Rooms were cleaned daily and towels freshly laundered. The bathroom was very clean and with a shower which worked fanrastically.

Will definitely stay there again.

Friendly hotel

The hotel receptionists Vanessa and Marina spoke excellent English and were very engaging
We had a superior room with balcony on the sixth floor and it was pleasantly comfortable although bathroom slightly cramped. Good TV which included BBC channels.

Over night stay to get to CGG airport. \n

Front staff was very helpful. Room very nice 3 doors to balcony. My husband raved about the BR even though it was small. Would be helpful to have the Metro station marked (I wish I had asked about it.) We guessed and walked by 2 metros before finding one in front of the hotel!
Not a location we would have used if we were sight seeing, but this was not our first trip so we just needed an overnight.
