For a low cost, very solid stay. Simple check in & out. Building & area felt safe enough. Lively neighborhood but the hotel is on a quiet street. They keep the room keys when you left which felt odd at first but ultimately it’s one less thing to lose. Desk always staffed. Wifi was finicky but mostly operational. I wouldn't recommend if fast connection is a priority.
Rooms are small but perfectly functional. Staff refreshed the room everyday. A little rough around the edges, aged caulking in the bathroom, broken toilet buttons, minor, minor things.
Why bother with an extra breakfast when there are innumerable cafes around? If you are planning to sleep & wash up here, it is perfect in my opinion. If you want lavish, maybe look further.

We stayed in a room right next to the elevator and you could hear it going up and down all night, as well as being able to hear everything through the doors. There may as well have not been a wall. The room wasn’t really anything like the picture. There also didn’t appear to be a smoke alarm in our room…

The linen of the room was horrible; seems clean but when you look closely it has a lot of pubic hair entangled with the bed linen. The lady front desk officer isn't friendly to answer guest's inquiries, we did even waited for her to finish recording the news about airbnb's before she attends to us. The guy front desk officer whose shift starts after her is more helpful and know's how hostality works for guests like us.

A great, good value hotel
TL:DR - Not perfect but great where it matters and I'd definitely stay there again. The Detail - The hotel's location is in a normal, working class area or Paris. It's fine, I never felt unsafe. Local bars & restaurants are good. Nearest Metro (Ledru Rollin) is about 7-10 minutes walk, Gare De Lyon 12-15 minutes. Hotel public areas are a little tired & scuffed up. My room was plain but everything worked & was spotlessly clean. Bathroom good, shower had excellent water pressure but was a little slow to drain. Not a big problem. The air con was brilliant, I actually had to back it off a bit, despite it being quite warm outside. Bed linens & towels spotless. Free hotel internet was pretty slow - I wouldn't be able to use it for work. The staff were friendly, helpful. I needed an ice pack keeping cool for keeping medicine chilled on my onward journey & this was accommodated without hesitation. The biggest disconnect is between the public photo's and the reality. They must show the best room, just after a refresh. I'd really like their website designer to revise my Tinder profile. That's not to say the hotel is bad....it's not. Just a little plain and in need of an update. It offers great value for money, I'd definitely stay there again and I'd recommend it. Oh, I've just remembered the safe. I couldn't get it to lock and it wasn't secured to anything anyway. I could put under my arm and walk off with it! But I never felt like my possessions were at risk.

There are some good rooms and some old crappy rooms so make sure you ask for a newer room. Also every time you leave the property they take your room key from you !! In my 68 years of traveling the world never have I had to surrender my room key every time I left the hotel

Pros: great location. Air conditioning. Nice shower and very comfy bed. 24hr staff desk.
Cons: Room was small and not really like the pictures at all. Shower had some mouldy sealant. Staff came into room to replace towels, which we hadn’t been told about. Staff overall not very talkative or friendly although I appreciate the language barrier.

The street and the alley we walked down just didn't seem safe, especially in the evening. We had to leave the key each time we left. There was a little safe, however it could be picked up and taken away. The receptionist at check in was more interested in her phone conversation, than us.

Was an error in my selection for my kids.1 room was booked.but they forced me to take 2 rooms and charged 200 Euro extra.I requested to mange 1 family room and adjust the price.but they forced me to take 2 rooms and i paid 200 euro extra for 2 nights but we stayed in one room cause i cant leave my kids undee 9 years old into another room.The building has manufacture defect.bathroom door doesnt lock.not sure how they are running hotel.I wish they refund my 200 euro

A basic hotel that definitely provides good value for money. Clean, and very well air-conditioned. Pretty good bed too. Convenient (Metro and Carrefour City). Decent choices of French cafes. Stayed during last week of Paris 2024 Olympics.

Hotel was clean and tidy. The room was promoted as a twin room, but it was a large double bed, luckily it was not too much of a problem.
The room safe was not working and also it was NOT fixed to the wall - so it was of no use.
The lift was very small (it only has capacity for 3 adults), so if you have very large luggage, it could be a problem if your room is on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
There is a small restaurant that does breakfast only, but this is not a problem as there are plenty of restaurants very close to the hotel and are open until very late.
The staff were helpful and always willing to help and advise on any questions you have.

The hotel is okay for a two star but this is definetely not three stars. Truly baffling was the fact the bathroom door cannot physically close and they knew this when they installed it. It literally is stopped by the sink...
The other major maintence issues were the fact the AC wasn't working (luckily wasn't too hot the days we were there) and shower drain was backed up so it was incredibly slow.
Also oddly there was no do not disturb sign so even though we told the front desk we did not want any room cleaning we still got our door knocked on every morning.
Walls are also paper thin.
Some staff were friendly others seemed a bit standoffish.
Investment needs to be made to the hotel for the prices.

The Staff was very kind and and were prompt in servicing room while I was gone. Very very quiet. However the facility looks like it hasnt been properly kept up with for years by owners which shows in things being stained, broken, and not at all like the photos they have that I believe are very very old and from back when they were a premium hotel. None of the draw in the \"color\" is present in the rooms now with lights and artistic appeal gone due to burnt out lights or filters they had before. Again solid experience with the food and people but owners need to refresh this place.

Basic, but clean, comfortable and convenient. Situated in the Bastille district with great local cafes and shops just around the corner. Two metro lines nearby to easily whisk you to probably all the places you need to get to and see in Paris. Recommended 👍

This was our third stay at the Color Design Hotel and every time has been as perfect as the last. The staff is always thoughtful and courteous. The rooms are small, but very comfortable. The price is well below what you could easily spend in Paris. The neighborhood is absolutely outstanding with the local farmers market a few blocks away. Cafés, bakeries, restaurants and nightlife everywhere right outside the front door!

This is actually a great place to stay, location close to line 8 and line 1 on the metro, very easy connection to CDG and all sites.
It is a very quiet street, (so much so you are not sure if you are there! Perhaps an illuminated sign would help), we followed walking instructions on google maps to find it which worked well. So, quiet location and good nights sleep based on that, you just walk to the end of the small avenue and suddenly you are on a much busier road with many cafes/bars/places to eat, we particularly liked Le Trois Freres, that is the yellow line 1metro side and then there were a collection of other places almost in a little square near the purple 8 line.
Bed was comfy, shower was nice. There isn't a kettle as standard which I had seen in another review so I asked at reception if we could have one and they do have them and gave me one to take to my room so I was able to make my morning cuppa.

A decent hotel to stay in for a couple of nights, a good area that was close by to metro & train stations which made getting around Paris a lot easier! There was a few things with the room I did not like there was light fixture loose in the ceiling and a few spotlights missing bulbs. The hairdryer that was provided in the bathroom did not work. The stairs were very narrow and the lift did not work at times, which wasn’t great being on the top floor having to walk up or down all the flights of stairs. Staff were pleasant and welcoming the entire stay.

Clean, convenient and comforting - welcoming staff! Travelled with my son across Europe and would definitely stay here again. Grocery store across the street and plenty of morning cafes nearby. Perfect for budgeting reasons and besides, you'll be out and about most days!

A comfortable stay for 4 nights in Paris. Not an ideal location for a tourist in terms of proximity to sites but good for the price and in a very nice area with many good cafes and restaurants. A small room but very clean and comfortable. Shower was really nice.

The bathroom is too congested, before leaving to go out I requested to change the towels however nothing was changed when we came back. No restaurant facilities nearby or on site, no tea/coffee makes in room facilities. First time experienced you need to leave your keys at the reception each time you have to go out. Really far from the city centre.

This property is handy to Gare de Lyon which is why I chose it. And got an excellent rate on Hotels.com. I arrived at 10am on my first day and they kindly let me store my suitcase in lobby storage while I took off to push through the jet lag. It turned out that I needed an extra day and so when I asked what it would cost, they quoted me a price that was almost twice what I paid for the first night. I told them I hoped they could do better and left for dinner. When I got back I chose another hotel on the website since they did not seem inclined to honor my request. So although I was happy enough with my room and service, I had to move on.

STAY AWAY!! this is a place where CRIMINALS stay. I had my wallet STOLEN from the check-in desk. They do not check for your ID when checking in...SKETCHY... and once the wallet was stolen it turns out they DO NOT HAVE any security cameras. The facilities are run down, the mattresses seem they came from the rubbish. They HAVE NO SECURITY whatsoever, and clearly people steal right from the front desk. Also, NOTHING LOOKS LIKE THE PHOTOS. Do not waste your time and money here, this place is a dump where they steal your stuff. I never leave reviews but my experience here was so terrible, I want to advice everyone to stay away. Also, HOW DOES EXPEDIA NOT VET THE SAFETY OF THE PLACES THEY OFFER??!!!

Our stay was great, we were there for 1 night, our last night in France. We were able to check in early and they even upgraded us to a larger room. It had everything we needed. The main point I wish to share is the location of this hotel. 100 meters from the metro, and the neighbourhood is riddled with great bars and restaurants. Try Bluebird for cocktails, L'Ebauchoir for authentic and rustic French food, and their sister business, the wine bar opposite called Le Siffleur de Ballons.

Comfortable Hotel Near Train Station
We booked the Colour Design Hotel during a recent visit to Paris because of its proximity to the Gare de Lyons. The hotel was a one km walk from the train station on a quiet street just off of Boulevard Diderot. Our room was small, but modern & we'll equipped. The wifi signal was strong & consistent & the in-room safe was large & able to contain all of our valuables. The room was quiet and the hotel offered a continental style breakfast for an additional 13 euros. The Faiderbe-Chaligny subway station was a 5 minute walk around the corner from the hotel. The area between the hotel and the subway station was a bit rundown with many homeless people living on the street. At the same time there were a number of excellent & expensive restaurants & wine bars in the same location. Definitely an area of contrasts. We enjoyed our stay at the Colour Design Hotel and would certainly stay there again if we were travelling by train to, or from the Gare de Lyons station.

The hotel is in good condition and seemed to have been remodeled. Tbe rooms are a decent size, based on European standards and the bathrooms are nice and an adequate size. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The hotel is in a decent location with many available metro options. There are numerous restaurants, bakeries and shops in the neighbourhood. It is located about a 15 minutes walk from Gare Lyon. This could be a bit of a challenge lugging heavy bags though.

The staff are very nice and very helpful. They helped us print our boarding passes and helped us book tickets online to certain events (our phones could not connect to the WiFi for some reason). The cleaning staff did a decent job, except that when we arrived we did not have bath towels. We realized this when one of us went to shower and the towel in the bathroom was too small (it was a face or hand towel). The reception helped fix this. The next day, after room service, this time we did not have hand towels but did have bath towels. Other than that, it was fine. The hotel is located close to a metro stop (3 min walk). It is close to a \"happening\" area so grabbing dinner or lunch nearby was easy. Across the street is a grocery store. Overall, good experience and would recommend to a friend.
