This hotel was disgusting. I visibly saw bed bugs on the beds. The area outside is not safe and you are told not to walk around at night. Will never stay anywhere near here again and I recommend you don’t either.

Close to Brussels South railway station

The hotel is somewhat old, but reasonably clean. Maintenance was at least on par if not better as comparable locations in Brussels. If you are afraid of the smallest trace of mould, this place is not for you. The location is somewhat noisy, but that's what you get just a 5 minutes walk from the biggest railway station. Not a top hotel, but reasonable value for the money. I would go there again if I needed accommodation close to metro and railway.

My worst hotel stay in Europe

I booked for a double bed and expected a bed big enough to hold us as a couple but bed was too small. Hotel provided only 3 small pillows.
Breakfast was always a repeat of previous day food. No variety and not ready to vary.
There was no fridge, pressing iron in the room. The safe was faulty and never worked till we left.
Found only one small bottle of water in the room meant for two. Water was never replenished for the entire 4 days spent at the hotel.
The carpets in the hotel was kind of dirty and stuffy. Gave me a cold till I left.
Several times I had to tell them not to make-up my room yet the cleaners went in to clean.
Considering the condition of the hotel, I will score them as a one star hotel yet was very expensive, paying over €210 a night. Payment was non-refundable which saved them, otherwise I would have canceled the booking quickly.
WiFi was very poor - very weak signal.
There was no restaurant to cater for lunch or diner.

Good location - near the Central Station (Metro Lemonnier is actually a bit closer and less hassle). Traffic noise a bit disturbing in the mornings.

We booked this room at the last minute as we are unhappy with our stay in another small hotel. We checked in at 10.30pm and was given a free upgrade to a family room. The hotel staff are kind and friendly. Room is big and clean too. Comfortable bed and pillows. Ideal location which is a stone throw to the main station.

The hotel was very convenient for the Eurostar terminal. It was a bit of a faded glory. Everything was clean but a bit old. Reception very friendly and helpful. Did exactly what we needed, beds for th night and an early start.

There was NO heat in our room.
It was freezing cold outside.
They brought up a small space heater,
but we checked the next day and there
was no heat anywhere in the hotel.
—not even in the hallways!
Also, the floors creaked so loudly and
violently that we thought there might

Hotel rooms stink and ful off bed bug could't sleep peachfully. the location is very good everything is close by train underground tram eurostar full of shops. rooms are too cold . heaters don't work i would not recomend this hotel to anyone but the staff are friendly

Staff very friendly and efficient. Pay at hotel at check in. Met our needs of close proximity (maybe 5 min walk) to the train station to catch an International train to Paris. Near Arabic neighborhood. Great food options. Close to Mannekin de pis, and chocolate shops. Exterior appears concerning but very safe and secure. Would definitely stay again. Train station lots of shops and food. friendly pharmacy across street.

Worst hotel on the planet

Upon arrival we were told that we couldn’t have a shower as the heating was out and it was being fixed. It was freezing cold outside. We were told it would be all working by 6pm. We had a volleyball game to go to so we went. We got back at 11pmish. It was snowing outside, as we entered the hotel we were told the heating would be working within 30mins. Lies, lies, lies. No heating for our whole stay. They also didn’t tell us that we couldn’t park in the public car park over night which caused a huge problem for us and cost us some money. They told us we should’ve asked them. Breakfast looked stale and still no heating when we left. No sorry, no compensation. In all my years of travelling this is by far the worst place I have ever stayed. I would recommend that hotels.com not have them on their books. It was a nightmare.

A Quick Visit to Brussels

Hotel was clean and the desk/housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. It is an older building hence the two star rating. A good choice for an experienced traveller who is not fussy. Train/bus station is located nearby (10 minute walk) and the \"old centre\" is only a 20 minute walk. If you are staying in Brussels for 1 or 2 nights and looking for a \"good value\" hotel the Continental Gare du Midi should be considered.

Just outside Gare Midi, so perfectly located if you are arriving from Charleroi with the airport shuttle. The hotel itself is very old-fashion...smells like an old house, but for the price is accetable to spend a night.

Absolutely filthy, only window opened onto an inside ledge covered in bird poo and cigarette ends with no sunlight getting through, there was no air and the fan provided was broken, the whole hotel smelt of smoke and there were frequent arguments in reception. The bed sheets had holes and cigarette burns in. The croissants were stale, orange juice was just water with a tiny fruit colouring and the hot chocolate was just luke warm brown milk.

Near Midi station but ....

No plugs in the bath or the basin and when I mentioned it the next morning the reply was \" Did you want to have a bath then\" ? The hotel is in a serious need of refurbishment, looks like it's stuck in the 60's. Breakfast is very poor as well.

You don't get what you don't pay for

I needed a cheap hotel near Brussels Midi station to overnight before an early train and the Hotel Continental certainly met those criteria. The staff were good, friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fine. However, the hotel is in desperate need of redecoration and some basic maintenance. The most confusing thing though, was why there was no mirror in the bathroom. Who ever heard of a bathroom with no mirror??

Nice hotel for the price you pay!!

15 minutes walking distance from all the city' actions, less than 5 minutrmes walking from Midi train station (gare de midi). So if you're travelling with a budget, this is the hotel you need to book.
When I come back, I will definitely stay at this hotel. Oh and the owner is very helpful, if you need anything, go strainght to him

I've never been to a hotel this nasty ever in my life. I'm very surprised that a hotel this disgusting exists in a country like Belgium. The bed had bed bugs. The bed spreads were dirty. The bathroom was extremely disgusting. The shower faucet would fall off whenever you turned it. The carpert was extremely dirty. They even had to tape the windows and I couldn't even touch the drapes because they were extremely dirty. The staff was extremely disrespectful. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice staff, shame about the hotel itself

I was first put into a room where I thought the shutters were closed, only to realise no, my window looked out onto an internal shaft of the building, and there was no natural light coming in at all! The room looked tired and dated, with the furniture appearing in very poor condition. When the bathroom light wouldn't work I went to reception to ask about it, and the lady told me that I was the second person to complain so a fuse must be gone and she would look into it. I asked what my room looked out at and she didn't understand the question, but eventually asked if I would like a room facing the other way (ie with sunlight). I asked if I could see the other room and I took that one instead.
To get to the new room via the lift, you had to navigate around a door that was jammed open across the top of a stairs - not easy with suitcases/bags.
The vending machine sold out of date Fanta (only out of date by a couple of weeks, but still).
The room didn't really appear to have had a good deep cleaning in ages, the top covers on the beds were really worn looking, and had been stitched back together in places.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and to be honest, that and the convenient location near the metro station, were the only saving graces here.

The price is quite cheap considering the location. The room status is acceptable.
However, the noise separation is poor. You can hear the noise when someone leaving at midnight and also the noise from the main street at night.

It seems the hotel was staged better for the photos. It's not a problem that the rooms were small and the neighborhood wasn't great (though it's close to the train station which helped on our trip), but the bedding and room just didn't feel clean. The bathroom seems newly remodeled, but the rest of the room was old and felt dirty. The ratings I read before choosing this place said: \"it's fine for the price\" but I'd have to disagree. I wish we would have picked somewhere else. And the icing on the cake: the wifi was terrible all weekend.

Disappointing but good location for station.

We arrived late for an early morning departure from Brussels. The reception area was chaotic. The room was incredibly basic though the bathroom was clean. However, the towels were threadbare and some had holes in them. But, the member of staff that checked us in was very courteous and friendly. The corridors of the hotel were the worst I've ever seen; carpets very old and, I have to say, dirty. The location was what we wanted though. A 5 minute walk from Brussels Midi station.

Hotel continental is a step away from the train station. It is also a walking distance to the grand palace. The hotel receptions are warm and have a welcoming attitude. They gave us a big family room. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was nice and big as well. The wifi connection was poor but was resolved when I brought up the issue. One of the guy came to our room and program it in my cellphone. I thought that was a personalized and thoughtful thing to do. It is a budget hotel and the price was very reasonable. Thanks for the wonderful accommodation.

One of the worst places I've had the misfortune to stay at. Really expensive (55 Euros) for what it offered, which was almost nothing.
When I checked in I was given a different room because mine wasn´t ready yet, a fact I found odd since check out was 11 am and check in 2 pm. As soon as I entered the room I noticed it smelt really bad, like smoking mixed up with lack of cleaning. Since there were workers painting the exterior of the building I thought it could be one of them smoking. But opening the window confirmed it wasn´t the case. The worst came with finding ashes next to the night table plus a filthy carpet. So I complained and was given another room which didn't smell like cigarette but was filthy all the same. It looked like the linen had been on that bed for ages and the pillows were so old that they smelt like greasy hair. Totally disgusting.
It goes without saying that I'd never recommend this so-called 2-star hotel to anyone.

This hotel has received some very bad reviews. I booked it, with that in mind, needing to catch a very early train from gare du midi, and also get a little sleep beforehand.

The room is clean enough, the bed had enough sheets. It was properly heated. The staff were friendly and helpful enough.

Downsides, yes it doesn't look great. Funny smells in the room and even worse in the separate bathroom (smells of fumes or overly strong cleaning products, one of the two). Wifi didn't seem to work at all, but oh well. Overall I would recommend booking something else, but if you needed somewhere to stay near the station and there aren't many other options, and you pretty much want somewhere to sleep in private and to leave your things, it's fine, it does the job.

Staff were reasonably helpful but the hotel was scruffy and run down. It's definately seen better days. Service was reasonable but hotel amenities were tired. The lift didn't work properly, carpets were worn and old, some electricity sockets were not all properly attached to walls. It was cold because the heating was not on all the time. There was no bar or comfortable sitting area. Location is good if you are travelling by Eurostar but the area was scruffy and run down and there seemed to be people outside talking loudly for most of the night.

Make no mistake, this is an old hotel. However the friendly and helpful staff more than made up for it. On check-in, we were upgraded to a family room! Location-wise, it is near MIDI Station which is convenient for a day trip out of Brussels or to catch an early train to your next destination.

Avoid if you can

Having stayed in around 40 hotels in Brussels this has was the worst of all. The room stank of smoke, carpets dirty, lights in the bathroom did not work, no soap, very very noisy. I did not stay for breakfast but got out as quick as I could after one night. I was looking for somewhere cheap - really I should have known better!

Perfect for what it is

This hotel is just fine. A little old, not to be mistaken for dirty. People make the mistake of wanting a five-star hotel for this price. Not going to happen. If you're going to plan on spending tons of time in it, you can do better. But if you are only sleeping there or making pit-stops to shower and change, it is perfect. Right next to the train station, and if you are in good shape, it's just a couple miles walking distance to all of the good stuff.

... could be considered good value for money. short walk to midi station for the eurostar and intercity trains, really nice owner and staff, reasonably clean rooms and bathroom, room 208 is massive, can accommodate 6 adults, sadly found bed bugs on the sheets and beds on our last day after noticing insect bites. without the bed bugs, i could happily recommend but it would appear proper treatment of the rooms is a MUST to eradicate the problem. rooms 201 and 208 need attention urgently ...

Continental is just 3 minutes over the road from Zuid/Midi - fantastic location. The hotel is fairly standard in it's facilities but the staff are very helpful and the bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel for those wanting a good price but no frills

I have travelled to more then 45 Metro cities in 18 Countries. I have stayed in hotels ranging from five stars to hostel in Amsterdam for fun. This is one of the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. For those who are from New Delhi region, this hotel is filthier then Pahar gunj hotels. No wifi no Internet. Only good thing is location for passengers travelling by train to Europe. I'm really disappointed. Please don't be misled by pictures.

Great Hotel - Too much Outside Noise!

This Hotel is located right around the corner from the Eurostar Midi station, so it's very easy to reach - a short walk around the corner. My room was 103 which is on the 1st floor. The room itself was very nice, furnished to a good standard (for the price) - and everything worked, eg. shower, toilet etc. Unfortunately, the hotel is also located right next to a late night diner/shop - so I had 5 VERY noisy, drunk locals standing just below my window, shouting and screaming in a foreign language until 3AM in the morning!! Obviously, I didn't get much sleep - even with my ear-plugs. So, while the hotel is great, I would suggest that you look for something a little further away from a local food joint. Or insist on a room that does not overlook the street in any way.

Run down & musty smelling

The staff was friendly and family-operated, but the room smelt musty like it hadn't been air rated and run down.
I wasn't sure how clean the carpets were, grout between tiles in bathroom looked like a really rushed job and a few spots of mold in bathroom.
When I opened the doors to leave the room, an alarm sounded which was disruptive & annoying.
Good location as it's easy access to Brussels-Midi station, but very budget stay.

I booked this hotel as is close to midi station and I was reaching Midi at midnight, the hotel is 2 minutes walk from Midi. It is. Family owned hotel and both owner and staff were very courteous and helpful. The rooms were a bit old and needs renovation, but the bed was in good condition and was very neat.

Good base to explore Belgian capital

Having booked last minute and not really knowing anything about Brussels, I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Staff were friendly (even with my broken French!) room was decent size and comfortable and all only about 15 mins walk from Grote Markt at the heart of Brussels' old town. Its proximity to Brussels Midi Station means it is a lively area and also perfect for exploring further afield from the city. Would recommend, and would stay here again!

Convenient for Midi Station – cheap, too.

Needed a place close to Midi – there were several other options but budget was tight. The Continental is actually not as bad as I had feared when I booked. It's old, slightly tatty, but reception staff friendly and efficient, in-room WiFi worked and a bathtub a nice surprise. Big room, too. Lift quite creaky but it got there. Soundproofing minimal - the first tram/train in the morning honestly felt as if it was passing right through the bedroom. Otherwise, recommended for a cheap stay - and luggage was kept safe and sound in a securely locked room for the following day.

I booked this hotel for a last minute business trip and working for a charity, did not have the luxury of a large budget. As such, I knew that this was not going to be a 5* resort in the centre of town and I have to base my review on whether I felt that I received value for money and absolutely, I feel that I did. Moreover, having left my wash bag at the hotel on departing, the staff (especially Norine) went out of their way to return it to me by post within a day of me contacting them. If you are after a budget hotel that is clean and tidy, where the staff make you feel welcome and want to be within 5 minutes of the Eurostar station, I would recommend that you stay at this hotel. Thanks to everyone for getting my wash bag back to me - it contained a rather expensive cologne which was a gift from my wife. I will see you again when I next visit Brussels.

Check in was welcoming and helpful. Rooms are basic and a little worn, but the shower and wifi worked well. Reasonable breakfast included.

While it is not the best looking hotel, nor was the room particularly 'pretty', the bathroom was significantly and surprisingly better than the rest of the place. It was a clean,comfortable room very close to the train station. If you are staying as a stopover this place is great value for money. Free wi-fi too!

good location hotel but please don't expect too much

Good location nice staff
Wifi good and breakfast is fine and included
The price is really reasonable but don't expect to have the condition of star hotel
Bed and shower is really top of budget hotel
The surrounding is a bit scare in the first sigh
After stayed for one night, you will get used to it
I stayed 3 nights there and quite satisfied to it

Very close to main train station

The Hotel was very good compared to the price, only downside I found that it was to close to a big train station. in result when the door to the balcony was open the sound from the trains was over whelming. otherwise it was very clean and very helpful staff.

Within 10 to 15 minute walk of Grand Palace.

For the money, very good. Not a great or new facility, but reasonable price. Most of all, staff was very nice and helpful.

Chambre négligée, eau pas vraiment chaude, pas de savon, pas de mouchoirs en papier, pas d'insonorisation de la porte et de la fenêtre. Pour le prix de 160 euros la nuitée, c'est très cher payé.

Chambre correcte. Petite, mal insonorisée et pas d'eau chaude. Par contre, la réception est ouverte 24/24 et l'hôte est directement à côté de la gare. Bien pour une nuit avant un départ.

El hotel está muy cerca del Gare du Midi. La zona en general es fea. Todo alrededor del GareDu Midi es feo y sucio. El hotel me pareció caro para lo que era. Lo usamos como hotel de una sola noche para tomar el tren al aeropuerto el siguiente día. Muy viejo con mala atención y más de 150 euros por una noche me pareció una exageración. Preferiría tomar un Uber de Gare du Midi hacia otra zona.

Problème de réservation. Avec le site. Donc arrivé devant l hôtel en famille avec un bébé, il n y avait pas de chambre réservée. On a dû aller ailleurs. Système de chat très lent avec le site hôtel. J ai signalé le problème. Discussion entamée puis plus rien... Pas de mails... Bref je doute que je prendrai encore des résa avec hôtels.com
