I had to pretty much go behind house keeping the day I got there with my own cleaning stuff and clean the mirrors wipe the jacuzzi tub out and around it clean the shower out and wipe pretty much everything down and I paid the price for the room I should’ve not have to do that at all

Better than expected

After reading the other reviews I was scared to book here but because we where coming to town around 11 pm and leaving back out at 9 am we didn't want to pay the higher rates. The older gentleman that checked me in was very nice and welcoming. The room was clean and I felt safe. No complaints other than the loud noise of pluming at about 3 am. It's a no frills hotel. Small clean pool and small eating area in lobby. If you do plan to stay in your room a lot this is a decent place to stay to save money.

We came to this hotel for a 1 night stay, the room was not at all clean. The sheets and towels both had stains on them. The breakfast was also very basic. Overall this hotel is not worthy of the nightly rate that they charge compared to other similar hotels. I will not be staying here again

Never stayed! Pull into the parking lot was scare to get my car.Me and my kids.The area smelled bad and the parking lot had liter everywhere.I lost one day of my money,but to be safe me and my kids I didn't care.

We didn't even stay here we arrived from a 13hour drive and was overly exhausted and got there to check in & asked to see the room we see the room no air , dirty laundry by my bed , broken lamp..I go to front desk to report these things not to not stay but so he can fix the situation instead the staff tells me I'm needy he doesn't have time to fix the air I've got a attitude , he said you don't seem happy with my hotel go find another one because I don't have time to fix your needs , that's not how your treat a guest and not to mention its Panama City and its spring break so he canceld our resvation without us agreeing to it and we had search for a hotel for 3 more hours that's also for the time we are staying & not a ridiculous price , this guy doesn't care about anything but money he doesn't listen or help he's very disrespectful and he's foreign and I'm American so it explains , I think this trashy hotel should be shut down!!!!! Not clean healthy place to lay your head.

Well we got a great room at a decent price. We did have 2 problems. One we unplugged the cable box and didn't know it so had to call front desk and maintenance was there in seconds but that was our fault. Second time ac wasn't blowing well and again staff responded amazingly fast. I really liked the place

first room, had a smell to it and the carpet by the sink was soaked with water. management only wanted to vacuum the floor and say it was better. finally we got another room. that room also had a smell to it but no wet floors. The air vent in the bathroom didn't work. i will not stay there again.

Disappointed!

Room needs a renovation . Beds where old and I get ate up by fleas or bed begs. Hotel staff started moving furniture @ 7 am so we where woke up by all the noise. Rooms are VERY dated and carpets are nasty. Not your typical Howard Johnnson Hotel. Very disappointed !

I was very disappointed the beds are small there weren't very many amenities the person next to us smoke marijuana the whole time it gave us headaches and made us sick the management did nothing about it when our keys failed to work the management took forever to come to the window at night I will never stay here again

Nice location

Two story hotel with no elevator, so if you have issues climbing stairs, call ahead and request a ground floor room. The room was clean, the staff was nice. The mattresses in our room were not exactly comfortable. We did notice there was a work crew working on some of the rooms remodeling, so could be a work in progress. It is close to Panama City Mall, and right next door to O'Charleys. Golden Corral with in a block and a half. They have danishes, muffins, cereal, bagels and fresh fruit along with juice (apple and orange) and milk for breakfast. There is a Krispy Kreme down the same road about 1 mile. Short stay not spending alot of time in room with 2 teenagers wasn't too cramped.

This was a quick overnight stay! It was decent for a small amount of money. The rooms look to be in the process of remodeling, as there were materials left in the hallway next to my room. However, it was peaceful and very close to EVERYTHING.

We were there for a softball tournament it was not far from fields. The service was great and so was the people. Restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast wasn't open early enough for softball players who have early games that is the only thing I found wrong with it.

room wasn't ready when I got there, they were cleaning it then and we had to wait. when we came back, a lizard was on the bed! The ceiling in the bath had mold and mildew and the light in the bathroom kept going off and on. I would not recommend this place, looked nothing like the pictures on web.

I like the cleaning staff but the one run the hotel was very sad from the way they ran it was awful, my TV stop working an they didn't no how to fix it, so they brought another TV in the room an left the old one in there the bath room was not clean mold everywhere we just started cleaning are on room I can go on but will make any difference my anniversary was the worse I had an make sure the front deck /maintenance /clerk had a bad odor that stayed in the room for a wilder an that was the sad thing about when he or she came to the room.

Hotel is in good location. Just minutes from stores and restaurants. Although; the Panama City Beach is a little far, it is still a straight drive from hotel. Room is great for the price. If you are not a people person and don't mind a little foot traffic, stay somewhere else.

permenantly stained sheets, walking on the carpet bare foot gave me black feet , dirty bed spreads. continental breakfast was package muffins, bananas and foul dirty coffee maker. i dont think the photos are from that motel. i was being cheap and i know you get what you pay for but OH MY what a hole.

Get what you pay for

Outdated and could use some facelifting. You can tell they care more about their budget and profit versus comfort of rooms and such. Overall, the stay was OK though noone spoke English except for 1 housekeeper so trying to communicate was a little difficult. It was not great but it was not a horrible stay. We were not there most of the time so just a place to lay our heads and we were good. Would I stay there again? Probably not only because when my daughter got sick in the pool the night before we left and I went straight to the front desk... they did nothing at all which I thought was pretty awful.

HOJO was not clean , rooms falling apart, very dated furnishings , even the exterior was very dirty, beds was extremely uncomfortable. Don't stay here unless you enjoy having an uncomfortable stay. On the plus side ( the only one I might add ) the A/C was the coldest I have ever seen in a hotel. Overall it felt almost third worldish.

You get what you pay for

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The only positive thing I can say is that the location is optimal. My husband and I had to stay several days in PC so we were hoping to save money by getting a cheaper hotel. We seriously regret this decision. We were forced out of bed the first night by a member of the staff banging on our door. They thought we had broken in. My husband was forced to go to the front desk because this staff member did not believe that we had been given a key card to the room, even when we showed him. All was sorted out and we felt we could forgive the mistake. However, we soon realized that the room itself was filthy (hair literally everywhere) and there was no noise control. Children were screaming in the pool area until almost 10pm, which may not be late to some, but this was the middle of the week and we had early morning business. Additionally, the maids were yelling and cursing outside our room for over an hour during the midmorning hours. On the third day of our stay the toilet broke and had to be repaired. We asked to be moved so we didn't have to wait but were told there were no king nonsmoking rooms. We said we would take any size nonsmoking room but were then told there were actually no nonsmoking rooms available. So we waited for the toilet to be repaired, which it eventually was, by the same employee who forced us out of bed the first night (never received an apology for that). On the last day of our stay there was a man screaming \"oh god, whyyyyy!\" multiple times on the balcony outside our room at 630am. He eventually stopped, but not due to any staff intervention. Barring all the other issues, the breakfast is a joke and parking is a hassle due to the placement of the pool in the middle of the parking lot. Our shower curtain rod was falling out of the wall, the shower curtain was covered in mold, and the bed didn't even have a fitted sheet covering the mattress. I wish we had just spent the extra money for a nicer place and I'm sure anyone else staying here feels the same.

The overall experience was just okay, not great. The beds were way too small (double) and very hard. The shower curtain rod needed adjusting to keep the curtain from going to the middle of the rod. It was angled down and so the curtain would move to the middle and water would get all over the floor. The continental breakfast was just coffee, juice, two choices of cold cereal (Special K or Frosted Flakes), old bananas, old tangerines, warm milk (because they kept it out on the counter and not in the fridge), old danish and bagels. It was disappointing. The room was clean, but the outside of the hotel was dirty, meaning trash and looking dirty.

I had a great stay at the Howard Johnson. The employees/ room service was extremely nice and curtious. My room was very clean and well situated. I felt as if i were in a 5 star hotel. Online booking was very easy and had great deals. Would highly recommend this hotel. My stay was during spring break it's not far from the beach and plenty of food and attractions around.

The outside may not look impressive, but my room was clean (no smell), and everything functioned (mini fridge, microwave, air conditioner, hot water, etc.). Thus, I was comfortable during my 1-night stay here. Check-in and checkout were easy.
One very important note: the staff was trustworthy.. I accidentally left my iPad and binder in my room when I checked out. I was able to be reunited with my lost items because of the staff's honesty.

I was looking for an affordable place to stay for a week while I was house hunting in Panama City area. The hotel is no frills, clean and reasonably priced for the services offered. Many room features were not working properly, like the in room safe and bathroom fan. When I asked about this at the counter I was told that many rooms have issues.

I'm a young man and just needed a cheap place to sleep and shower for a few nights. I booked the smoking room to save $10/nt but will pay the premium next time. Smoke odor was very strong. Burn marks were everywhere and on everything, probably because there were no ashtrays in the room. The room was clean except for snap pops in corners and the backside of the door was filthy. I had to get a \"do not disturb\" door decal from the front desk but when I returned that evening, they had cleaned my room anyway and left bottles of Windex and Greased Lighting in the room. The room is hardly soundproof, as it seemed like I could hear everybody who walked passed and every vehicle that drove by. The continental breakfast consists of only prepackaged foods and fresh fruit. If I need only a cheap place to sleep in PC in the future, I would probably come back, but definitely not a smoking room.

We arrived and front desk was awesome. went to room wanted to put food in mini-fridge, It was turned off and open the door and it was nasty with mold, had to clean it myself before I could use it... Dirty hand prints all over the Bathroom door... Carpet was nasty.. My wife and son's feet were totally black after walking on the floor... Beds were comfortable. Paid way too much for this room and was only worth a cheap NO TELL MOTEL RATE!!!.. very disappointed in this Howard Johnson's location... will never recommend it!!!!!

the hotel it was ok my room was 120 the light at bathroom was not working well it was blinking the switch need to be replace, the carpet was dark red it need it a shampoo, also the all hotel need to be up date or remodel a little more . This place was great for a roof over my head which is ultimately what I was looking for. If my wife was with me, this would have not been acceptable especially if you are traveling with a kid. Electrical outlets non secured in walls, mold on shower curtains, a portion of the TV channels were \"No Longer Available\" from their provider. Great for me alone for work but overall, not for families.

When I first arrived, the Inn looked decent from the outside. Once inside, I realized that I chose smoking instead of non-smoking. Upon arriving, I talked to the receptionist at the front desk and explained my situation. When I asked if there was a non smoking room available, and that I did not mind paying more if it cost more, she informed me that she had no non-smoking rooms available (which on the way to the room we found out wasnt true because we passed 6 non-smoking rooms that were unoccupied).So I was unsure of what I would find in the room. Once inside, the room was dingy and dark.The door had black gunk on it, the soap on the sink was unwrapped and used,& the light in the bathroom did not work.The walls are also very thin, we could hear people outside talking, and also could hear the TV in the other room.When I went to bed the pillows were not very good, so I called the front desk and was told that they did not have any extra pillows. So I’m not sure if they truly were not able to accommodate the needs of me and my family as we were traveling, or if it was just late and she wanted to hurry her shift along. When traveling I am not a very picky and needy person,it was just that when I pay for a motel room I would like it to be clean.Personally I would not choose to stay here again. Other than the room itself, the location is nice.It is located about 20 minutes from the airport, & about the same distance to the beach, and looked to be in a decent part of town.

The room had a very odd smell. Not sure if it was the type of cleaning product used or if it was lack of fresh air but it was not pleasant. The TV was OLD and had very poor picture quality. The cable provided plenty of station options. Time to step up and purchase new TVs. The mattress was very comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and sufficient hot water. The sound of neighboring rooms plumbing was annoying. Every time a shower was taken or the toilet was flushed created enough noise making it difficult to hear the TV at a normal level. When there are so few rooms rented on a given night, it is would be beneficial to guests to leave a room in between empty so one does not have to hear the plumbing from the next room.

The staff was nice, room was good, place was clean, no bugs, beds were a little lop-sided, some tv channels were fuzzy, but all-in-all especially for the rate we paid you couldn't ask for more than what it was.

Needs a major overhaul

Thai was the worst hotel I have stayed at. Even at this price. The tv as an example was a old one that had a hole about fist size covered by electric tape. The carpet was so dirty my white socks change to tan.

My stay was okay. I was too far away from the Airport. I was told that I would be 13 miles away. I was actually 21 miles away which made the cab fare too expensive and unexpected. I will not use the company I chose again. The desk personnel was very nice to me and totally understood my situation.

Just 10 mins away from the beach

Good hotel. Breakfast is alright. The pillows kinda were bad but overall they kept the rooms clean the the pool was great!
