This was sent via an email to mgr, who did not reply:
We booked through Expedia for one night — the sole purpose was to see Joe Bonamassa at 8pm with dinner at 6. Timing mattered.
We arrived at 3:15pm, understanding check-in was at 4. We waited in the lobby with several other guests. My wife got a pedicure at the spa while I waited and watched every other guest get called to their room — including some who arrived after us. At 4:45 I approached the desk and was told my room wasn't ready. No explanation, no alternatives offered. At 5:20 — after I started calling nearby hotels — they finally had a room for us. We made dinner by a thread.
The room appeared freshly cleaned (cleaning supplies were left inside), the thermostat reset to 73°F in the middle of the night despite being set to the lowest setting, and we could clearly hear neighbors through what I assume was a shared door.
The front desk agent who checked me in was unhelpful and barely pleasant. The greeter who offered to hold our bags was great, and the checkout agent was genuinely kind and empathetic.
The hotel itself is nice — great location, convenient parking, and my wife enjoyed the spa. But I've traveled extensively for work and pleasure for over a decade and haven't experienced a front desk delay like this. What would have gone a long way: acknowledgment, alternatives, or simply more communication while we waited.

I like the property and amenities but I did not like listening to the elevator, sounded like a plane as it went past my room / floor and then the was an accuator that kept making noise in the ceiling of my bathroom. I had to shut the door!

I have always enjoyed Fairmont property’s.
The Fairmont in Pittsburgh is in a great location.
Waking distance to PNC Park, and lots of good restaurants also in walking distance.
The Strip District is a very short drive as well.

The hotel staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern.
There is a nice bar on the second floor and the brunch on the weekend is fantastic.

Everyone was very friendly, we loved our first visit to Pittsburgh. I'm going to give our review 5 stars but the only thing I question was 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed our room wasn't cleaned. Not sure if that's normal because we had slept in and left around noon. But in any case it was a fun time.

I had the river view which was great! Very clean room with comfortable beds. I did try calling the front desk several times on the way in and from my room without getting an answer. My guess is there was an unknown issue with the phones at the time, because I mentioned it to one staff member who was surprised to hear it.

It's NOT the same, ice machine was not working, had to go to another floor, no wine bucket in room, took 45mins to finally get...
Oh phones in the room not working, said they'd send some one to look at phones, no one ever came!!
Two elevators were broken, would wait 8 to 10 minutes, for it to come and was crowded, stopped on every floor cause the otherd were broken!! For entire stay.
Rooms need updated BAD... amenities bad, not enough coffee pods, and they were terrible weak cheap coffee, no cotton balls, q tips ..etc
Staff is great, spa nice, but rest of hotel needs help, and when I did complain they all brought up new GM, not doing his job !! They charge big price and NEED to step it up, cause I won't stay there again, till it steps up, like it used to be a high end hotel, not anymore, just their PRICES, not paying top dollar for a medicore hotel anymore 😖

Location is perfect for getting to everything Pittsburgh. The service at the hotel wasn’t so good. For instance, on our last night after getting back from the football game to get ready for dinner we had to call the front desk to have our room serviced, then did it again an hour later. They didn’t service the room that day. There were other issues with room service as well. The location is great, the service will keep you wondering if this is really a Fairmont.

We spent 7 nights here in August and had a very comfortable stay. The hotel looks modern and clean and the front desk staff were all really friendly and helpful.

The room and beds were also comfortable although it did look like it was due a deep clean (you can see the dust gathering around the edges of the carpet and under tables etc). The bathroom, especially tiles, also looked tired and due renovation.

Out of our 7 nights, the cleaners only came once. Admittedly one time was due to us accidentally leaving the do not disturb sign on! Even though we were out a lot every day, they never appeared. We had to ask for clean towels a couple of times.

The gym was fantastic. One of the best I’ve seen in a hotel. And Starbucks in the lobby was excellent and very convenient.

We felt that the price we paid was good value compared to other 5 stars in the area and would stay again despite the room issues.

One night in Pittsburgh

We were on the return leg of a roadtrip and arrived at the Fairmont. Beautiful exterior with attentive staff as We Valeted the car. We found the receptionist kind and efficient. Our 2 queen with a view of the water was spacious. The view was as advertised. Gorgeous bathroom with a glass shower and a tub to soak. After a day in downtown we retreated to our sanctuary in the city. The bed and bedding provide a restful night. Couldn’t be happier.
This place is top notch!

Luxury experience!

Staying at the Fairmont is definitely a luxury experience. The front desk gave us an umbrella to use when it was raining and we were walking to dinner. It was the weekend of the marathon and they communicated what roads were going going to be blocked off and when to leave.

Great location in downtown Pittsburgh! The hotel staff is EXCELLENT - especially RYAN! We arrived early (Noon) knowing that check in was at 4pm. Ryan was so helpful and checked our luggage so we could start our tour bus fun! Around 1:30 pm, I received a text message from Ryan that our room was ready and he had our luggage delivered to our room so it was available upon our return from our ventures! He was so helpful and polite! Great customer service! Thank you!

The Fairmont is in an excellent downtown location. It is close to the Cultural district and Market square.
The lobby is beautiful with a Starbucks.
The rooms were average size. We were disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. The walls and furniture were dirty. There was a Keurig in the room with free pods. There was chips available in the room. They were $9 for a 1.5 oz container. (Really????). We will not be staying here again.

Parking is expensive. Valet parking overnight at $65 is very expensive. Hotel is OK but overpriced for what it is. Getting extra pillows involved 3 phone calls. Restaurant is very slow moving so if you are in a hurry avoid it. They got my wifes hamburger order completely wrong. Very much not the Fairmont experience I have had in the past. Front desk people very nice and friendly

This hotel was not worth the extra spend. I did not find the staff helpful nor up to Fairmont's usual service level. Not offer of help with bags despite people at the door watching me struggle. I booked a room on a high floor. I paid extra for this. When I got there they told me this wasn't available because my stay overlapped with other people who also booked a high floor. Therefore I was given a lower floor and not offered a refund. I communicated to the hotel that this had happened and they informed me I hadn't booked a room on a high floor despite showing them my reservation details which clearly spelled that out. Overall a disappointing property.

I was charged $50 for an early checkin fee (but I actually checked in late) After calling the hotel to rectify this after I received my portfolio I still never received a new portfolio showing the $50 credit for the early checkin that never occurred.

The crowd that hangs out in front of this hotel is way less than desirable. There was a loud noise that reoccurring every 30-45 minutes through out the night. Upon arrival to the hotel after my event, the elevators were not working. I was instructed to use the service elevator. That was able to get me up to my room. I tried to leave again using that elevator and it would not work. I was on the 22nd floor, walking all of those flights of stairs is a real big inconvenience. I wouldn’t really suggest this hotel to anyone staying downtown. There are far better options.
